You can tell there is pride in ownership or there was. The detail to the chair decor highlights this. It was also clean and tidy. I was the only diner there on a weekend around 3 pm. The waitress is an elderly lady and not there for chit chat but that's ok. So food wise, it's not the worst I've had but it's not the best either. I feel like it's lacking a sauce/seasoning and by no means am I an expert in Chinese food but I eat my fair share. You do get an abundant amount of food. Would I try it again? Yeah. I had been wanting to check this place out for a while. The stars finally aligned and I went in for a bite. I guess you could say we were greeted right away. Once in the door a waiter started yelling "Hi, how many" to us from across the dining room. He then offered us a table crammed in right next to the only other two tables in use despite the entire rest of the restaurant being empty. Not wanting to bang chairs into the people behind us, we asked if we could sit somewhere else. He told us sure sit anywhere only to later laugh at us and tell us no not there when we chose a table. We ended up seated at a third table. The cleanliness at this table was not good. The table was covered with a table cloth that had oil or something on it. Looking around in an attempt to find something better I realized they all had gross stuff on them. That's the point where we just stood up and walked out. The building was old and falling apart. The parking lot was in shambles. The restaurant was filthy and smelled of rotten fish. That's enough for me. I don't need to fill in the blanks on what the food would have been like. read more

Pearl palace has the best pot stickers! They are a nice size and delicious! The owners are very nice. We've been coming here a long time and have never had a problem with food or customer service. I like their kung pao chicken. They have daily specials that are very reasonable in price and combo meals too. I can't understand the negative reviews. We like to eat here whenever we are in the area. We are sad on the days they are closed. :( read more

I've ordered from here a few times now and it's good every time. The chicken wings are super flavorful and crispy. The lunch specials are loaded! Very good portions. I haven't had the chance to go in because it's a 20 min drive. The food is still fresh and hot when it arrives AND My order is always correct. Enjoy! read more

Ok I have to admit I have been coming to Pearl Palace for at least 20 years. John the owner just seem to cook exactly the traditional or American Chinese food that's too my taste. It's not fancy and could definitely do with a update it's a old building, but in 20 years I have never once gotten sick there, I think different people jealously have a favorite Chinese place so there will be many opinions and tastes and thats to be expected. I've tried the other offerings in town but very rarely , service is usually extremely quick, fir dine in or take home. I hope you find it as a welcome offering in Oakdale. read more

My first Yelp review. I am not a huge Chinese food fan but I always try to be optimistic when I go with friends. Sadly I was disappointed yet again. It tasted bland and the #2 appetizer was a joke. Honestly this is the best Chinese food I've had since I left the Bay Area!! This place is definitely a pearl! It didn't look like anything special from the outside and it needs a paint job but don't let the outside discourage you because this place is very special. Everything was fresh as could be and seemed very authentic, I'm not Chinese so I can't say one way or another but as far as I am concerned it beats all other Chinese food spots I've tried in the Central Valley, the atmosphere and aesthetic's inside are very pleasing! We got the combo "A" plates and both plates were huge and we couldn't finish our meals! For both plates and two drinks with tip was 38 bucks that's unheard of this day and age! They left us a whole pitcher of ice tea which was very fresh, all the veggies were crisp/fresh nothing was over sauced/seasoned. The service was awesome too! I tried this place twice in the past and it was pretty good. Last night, we ordered for pick up and all the dishes with meat tasted old. Like they used leftover meat and reheated. I got fried chicken (tasted like reheated and maybe second fry to make it crispy). The pork fried rice had pieces of pork that also tasted like leftover. Salt and pepper calamari was not crispy it was sort of rubbery on the outside and the lettuce garnish was old and wilted. Sort of a gross meal. Very disappointed. read more

We went to Pearl Palace for dinner tonight, it was delicious their pork fried rice is so delicious, everything was delicious, but there portions are kind of small for a Chinese restaurant! And for the walnut prawns as they call them, they use medium size prawns but the flavor and everything is very good. That's why I gave five stars, the kids ate it down to the plate. read more

My boyfriend spend most of his high school years in Oakdale and since moving to SF we almost never visit. But, since we were in the area, and as a joke to me, (being Chinese), he wanted me to try Chinese food in Oakdale and compare it to ones in SF. We started with Chinese Chicken salad which for the record is not very authentic dish to begin with. But I did enjoy it the most out of the 3 dishes we ordered. It came out super fast which most likely meant the chicken was precooked. I think they used some kind of mayo based dressing, yuck but kinda yum at the same time. The General's chicken was something out of Panda Express but the quality of the chicken was better. They fried up large pieces of chicken, sliced it and dumped a gallon of sauce over it. I'm used to individual sized nuggets fried up and tossed LIGHTLY with some sauce. It was totally soggy after about 15 mins. Last dish, Chow Fun with Chinese Greens. I asked the host/waitress was Chinese greens were and she said bok choy. Ok, I can do bok choy. What the menu doesn't say is that it's WET chow fun. This means they dumped a bunch of sauce over it. Again, with the food drowning in sauce! The waitress was nice but was not professional at all. When we walked in, we were the only ones there and she lifted her head off the table like we woke her up from a nap. Then while we ate, she was clipping her fingernails! Then it was hard to get her attention so we could pay the bill. BF had to get up and walk across the restaurant to pay. OK tasting food and I guess from the other Yelp reviews it's pretty darn good for the area. Horrible decor. read more

We saw McDonald's across the street, and decided to eat there.
