May be the best waitress I've ever had in my life. Elizabeth asked the "have you all eaten here before?" and when we said no the efficient menus presentation began. We had draft beers, wine, and some high quality cocktails. Report was the espresso martini was best ever. We shared 4 different sushi roll plates, and the curry chicken special entree. One of us got a tuna poke bowl. Everything was excellent. It's a little loud for us 40-50-somethings, we happened to be right under a speaker that had the music, but we adjusted to the "hipness" and had a great time. Their spicy edamame is my absolute favorite, sweet and tangy and there is an abundance of it to share with the table. The service has always been top tier, and I love the ambiance of the interior as well as the exterior. We decided to splurge and try the Bougie AF roll and while it was delicious, I likely would not order it again since it's a thin slice of steak on the top and the lobster tasted similar to shrimp tempura in my honest opinion; however, it does come with a delicious dipping sauce! Found this place while looking for dinner and it did not disappoint! It was in a more "industrial" part of town, one that seems to be in the process of re-developing, several (what appear to be) popular bars and restraints in the area, lots of old buildings converting to homes and condos. Went in and were seated at the sushi bar quickly, they've got a good size menu, with a lot of sushi options. The server was friendly, but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. I asked what local beers they had and she told me Sapporo, which is most definitely imported from Japan...so that was not helpful. But we placed our order for a californi roll, not pictured, and an order of the sesame chicken, which we had seen someone else eating when we arrived. The portion was enormous, and more than enough for both of us. It came with a side salad and miso soup. Everything was delicious! Wow. Just wow. This place is light years above the place that used to be in this spot. I went yesterday with my boyfriend and we were LOSING OUR MINDS at how amazing everything was! I had the "what's in a name" cocktail and I kid you not it was one of the best cocktails I've had in Richmond. And it was $9?!?! I would have paid $14 for that!!! The bartender Audrey is as sweet as could be too. The food in exceptional. They have traditional rolls on there, but also some contemporary items like truffle sashimi and beef pho spring rolls. This was my first time trying Lucky AF... and let me say it was good "AF" lol. It is a nice restaurant. Kind of small but there are 3 different sections that you can be seated and social distancing is enforced. Each table also has its own hand sanitizer which is very good. I started off with a beer Whitty AF which was the perfect " quench my thirst" as I waited for my apps to come out. We ended up ordering the Lobster Dumplings and the Gyoza and when I say they were perfect they were perfect. I usually feel like pork dumplings taste mushy but these ones were pan seared perfectly on one side and gave off that great savory taste. On to the sushi, I tried the salmon roll (a whole lot of salmon not enough roll. Probably won't get that one again), Sweet Jane Roll and the Bougie roll and goodness they were good. I never had steak on sushi before and it was a change and I mean a great change. The sweet Jane had very good taste to it. I was more than satisfied and I will DEFINITELY be making my way back. I LOVE this spot. I honestly cannot wait to try their sushi rolls once this kid is finally out of me! Be sure you know your ways around Scott's Addition (there are one ways here and there). I am SOOOOO happy with my order. The pho beef spring roll TASTES like a beef pho bowl. I am honestly impress with how they were able to get that together and there was more than enough to share among 3 other peeps. The eel rolls were a great diluter in taking between bites of the Boujie AF roll. Honestly, the Boujie AF is A MUST TRY roll. When I returned to work to eat my food, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. The sushi tasted old. The tempura shrimp tasted as if it was cooked yesterday or early this morning. The coating and shrimp itself was hard and dry. The crumbles on top of the sushi were stale and even the sweet soy sauce looked like it had been resting on the roll for a day or more. The food was not flavorful at all! It was quite disgusting. Never will I ever order a to go order from here again. Should I decide to eat here, it will be inside the restaurant. They seem to care about the food they serve when you are actually present within the restaurant. Being a huge sushi fan, I've been on the prowl for a good sushi spot while in Richmond. Most people have recommended Akida, which was just a terrible experience since the atmosphere and sushi sucked over there. Lucky AF has been mentioned by some people but crossed off my list by others. I decided to give it a shot yesterday as I was craving sushi. The parking situation is pretty solid here as there was plenty of street parking. The ambiance here is pretty neat. The bar was already pretty busy at opening at 5 PM. The Cucumber Salad here is just what it is, Cucumber in a vinegar based dressing. They didn't have Uni available yesterday but the bartender stated they usually have it. I can let this go as it was a Monday and a lot of places don't have it early in the week due to delivery schedules, etc. The Yellowtail Ceviche isn't really Ceviche but Yellowtail Jalapeno that you'd see at other places. It was ok. The vinegar based dressing had a very strong vinegar profile to it which I'm not used to with Yellowtail Jalapeno. The Baby Krish Roll was solid as it combined Spicy Tuna and Filet Mignon. The hot sake comes out of a machine which makes for a quick turnover and the service was solid. It might be impossible to give any sushi restaurant in Richmond 5 stars as I'm from a New England coastal city with great fish and a lot more competition than you'll find in Richmond. However, this place is the best place I've been to for sushi so far. read more

The exterior and interior are attractive! The music vibe is funky and rhythmic. The food is so colorful and vibrant! The flavors that they fuse wouldn't necessarily be found together traditionally, but they come together in a good way. For instance, the shrimp spring rolls have American cheese in them but they delivered perfect unison in my mouth. As for the sushi, delicious and plated beautifully. The Top 20 rolls have creative names. We opted for Harley Quinn and Boujie AF. The pho has filet mignon and is packed with flavor. We enjoyed everything but in about 24 hours we all started having the same symptoms of food poisoning. It's been awful for all 3 of us. Not sure if the food wasn't clean or maybe it wasn't refrigerated at the right temperature but everything that was inside has been wiped out of us . Hopefully they will take this review under serious consideration. I would hate for anyone else to deal with what we have been dealing with. WORST feeling ever.
