This is hands down the best sushi I have ever had! Started our meal with pork gyoza, again the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and comes with a delicious ponzu dipping sauce. For my sushi rolls I got Superman roll and the Lucky AF roll. Both were so delicious but Superman was my favorite, probably due to the cream cheese addition! One thing to call out is both of these rolls are large and you're definitely getting your moneys worth. This is my go-to place near me for good quality sushi. My mom was visiting and I took her here for lunch. It's normally been a 4 star spot for me, but this past visit was 5 stars! We came on a Wednesday afternoon, they didn't seem to have the full staff so we could only sit in one section which wasn't an issue. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I find that Lucky AF's best sushi are the simple rolls and sashimi. Whenever I order more complicated rolls they fall flat for me. We ordered the seaweed salad, miso soup (they brought us a ginger salad on accident, but left it), the salmon avocado roll (I always order this here), escolar, eel, and scallops. Everything was absolutely incredible. It was all so fresh and great quality. My mom was so thrilled about what a delicious meal it was. She kept mentioning later how yummy it all was. This is my favorite sushi place in Richmond For appetizers, I love the lobster dumplings, shrimp shumai, gyoza and the pho beef spring rolls. I'd have to say the pho spring rolls are my faveeeeee. My favorite rolls to get are the Harley Quinn and the Lucky AF. My partner usually gets the Wonder Woman and Philly. Almost every sushi place I've been to includes either cucumber or avocado in their Philly roll, but lucky's roll has neither and they charge like $3 to add it. The drinks are good and we've never had bad service here. The waits can be long sometimes, especially on the weekends and at dinner. I've gone on a random Tuesday and been told the wait was an HOUR. They do take reservations, but only for groups of 6 or more. Speaking of hours, they do have happy hour - excuse me, "Lucky Hour", which I tried for the first time recently. For me, the deals ($1 off this, $2 off that) aren't killer enough to constitute going specifically for HH. Plus, they condense the menu and you can only order from a selection of like 5 or 6 rolls/apps. The galaga roll they feature during HH is bomb though. I usually like miso soup, but I tried theirs and it was the saltiest thing I've ever tried to eat in my life. Big o ass. One thing I will note about them is that they tend to plate/pack sushi together, so be specific if you have allergies in your group. We came in as a small group for work on a Monday evening and didn't expect it to be busy, but it got busy really quickly! Our server, Rachel, was amazing! She was very friendly and outgoing and offer many great suggestions. The menu was nice... Plenty of pan-Asian offerings, mostly centered around sushi, but pho and even a Chinese-American staple, orange chicken was on the menu. For appetizers, we only got their spicy edamame and took the rest of the chili sauce to go because it was spectacular. They created a sort-of jam; it was not your typically "red pepper garlic spicy sauce" on the beans. A suggestion I wish I thought of at the moment is to also order a plain roll like avocado or California or even rainbow and then use the additional saucey jam leftovers for the topping. For entrees, we got 4 rolls: Amirah, Get Naked, Lucky AF, Wonder Woman. Obviously, my most favorite is the Wonder Woman; because, again, it was DIFFERENT. Forbidden rice adds a bit of *charm* to the mix. Also, the mango hehe. The second best is the Amirah; it was also the prettiest and will give you holiday vibes. If you get the Lucky AF, make sure to order it as a singular plate so they can do a cool flower design with the sauces (we did not, but for future reference!). The shrimp and vegetable tempura was great but I did find that there was a ton of onion tempura and not enough sweet potato/zucchini in the mix. The fried rice was just OK.
