Okay so this place has been on my list forever. And I could see a bit of why it is so highly rated--the bread is out of this world and the in house charcuterie is to die for. And the drinks were solid! But gosh the pastas were so disappointing and strange and not good. We tried 4 pastas on the menu and I was not a fan of any of them. And the service was weird--at one point, our waitress snapped at my friend about interrupting her (my friend was gushing about a special the waitress had just mentioned) and snidely asked her if it was okay for her to continue speaking. Like...okay. of course it wasn't polite for my friend to interrupt, but gosh. That was super uncomfortable. Not a big fan even without that moment

Closer to 3.5 Stars for the overall experience. A group of friends and I met for dinner here this past December and they had raved about this place. The first thing I noticed was how cozy and home like the interior felt. Warm woods, mood lighting set the tone. They are a local, hand crafted type of restaurant and this pride shows in how they interact and talk about their creations. Our waitress was quite careful in reviewing the offerings for this night. There was a steak dish that 3 of us had ordered. She did warn us that it may be too much for one individual entree. She was right. This could have easily been split by 2 people. As for the steak itself, it was good but not spectacular. For dessert, we shared a Green Apple Pear concoction and it was also good but not bowl me over. A solid hand crafted eatery for the area.

Service was really amazing and it's obvious that the people who work there are super knowledgeable about the food. I definitely think the pasta we had was the standout dish. The lamb we had I found to be maybe a little too heavy, but that was more so a mistake on our part for the choice. I think it's worth the visit to try it out!

I'm so sorry to say, but I was not a huge fan of Lucia. The ambiance and vibes were there, but I'm not sure if it was just what we ordered, but I would not come back I was so excited to try this place, because of the hype and how hard it is to get a reservation. It just did not meet my expectations, especially when there are so many other restaurants I prefer We got the semolina gnocchi, grilled branzino, and crostata with Texas peaches The gnocchi was a tad too salty, but I think what I really didn't love was the lack of balance in the dish. It needed acidity or something to counter the richness and savoriness of the sausage. Grilled branzino was well cooked, but the flavors were just not there. The shrimp stuffed squash blossoms excited me in concept, but the flavors were just ok The peach crostata wasn't bad but again it just didn't wow me. The basil almond pesto in a dessert was interesting in concept and by itself was fine, but everything together didn't sing. Maybe I had too high expectations, but the flavors were just not for me. I think Lucia is worth a try, you may love it. Many do

The service is top notch, they make you feel welcomed and are always taking care of you in a very discrete way without interrupting your conversations. Our server was amazing and knew and explained to us every single detail in their menu. The food is great, all made from scratch in their open kitchen. No long waiting times to get your meals or drinks, all is perfectly paced without rush or waits between plates. Their menu changes frequently based on seasonal products. This is one of those places where you really enjoy the service, the food, the atmosphere at even the neighborhood (Bishops Arts). All together make a really nice experience.

If you haven't met her, I'd love to introduce ya to my friend, Lucia. She is beautiful, she is grace, she's not miss United States, but she definitely could beat out Sandra Bullock for miss congeniality. Congeniality is defined as pleasant, friendly, easy to get along with. That's exactly how you feel from the moment you walk into Lucia to the second you take your last bite. I felt like I'd been transported out of my busy life into a new city with no responsibilities other than to enjoy myself. We started with the chef's choice salumi. Taking a bite with potato focaccia with any of the select salumi with pickled veg and layering it with the chicken liver/foie gras mousse was one of the best bites all night. I've never had chicken liver or foie gras before, but the mousse reminded me of the other Miss USA contestants eating pizza for the first time during the competition. Almost like they needed it. I felt like a dog with a water bowl on a hot summer day, I wanted to lick the plate. Next we indulged in 3 primi's: Strozzapreti with pork ragu, roasted beet risotto, and Smoked sweetbread francobolli. The pasta across the board was al dente and superb. The pork ragu was the perfect date meal. April 25th, not too cold, not too hot, all you need is a light jacket. The roasted beet risotto was a beautiful master class. I mean look at that color! Victor Melling couldn't have done a better job on that presentation. It just makes you smile, and smiles wear a crown. The francobolli was the highlight of the night. This is a dish that could make the world a better place by providing harsher punishments to parole offenders and world peace. Every bite made me feel something inside like a new experience paired with an old memory all in one. Lastly, we had 2 desserts. Look if you're gonna eat at the best restaurant in Dallas, you have to ball out. We had the pistachio and honey tart and butternut squash pain perdu. Unbelievable. I felt like all the girls finding out Gracie was actually an FBI agent. I was in disbelief of the flavor. I was so full from the pastas, but the desserts kept pulling me in for one last bite until I was finished. As I think about my experience from last night, I can't help but smile. Yes, my wife got car sick from the hour and a half it took to get there. But was it worth it? Of course, that's show biz baby.

Lucia's "Secondi" dishes are nothing to write home about BUT their "Primi" pasta dishes are some of the best I've had in DFW. My friend and I ordered their Beef & Fish Secondi dishes and we both thought it was just above average. It didn't stand out to us. However, the pasta dish we shared was AMAZING! It was a seafood pasta and the sauce that was poured on top was so good! It completed the dish. It was very flavorful. The next time I come back to Lucia I would probably just order multiple pasta dishes.

TLDR: Lucia delivers refined, seasonal Italian dishes with standout pastas and desserts in an intimate, polished setting. Some unevenness keeps it from perfection, but it's still worth the reservation hassle. Overview: Located in the hip Bishop Arts District, Lucia is one of those small, quietly confident restaurants that feels special the moment you sit down. The room is intimate, stylish without being flashy, and clearly built around the idea that you're here to eat and linger rather than rush in and out. It started life as a tiny nine-table spot and has grown into its current space, but it still feels personal. Getting a reservation is difficult, so you need to be ready when bookings open, and parking in the area can be a bit of a headache, though they do have a dedicated page on their website for it. Upon arrival, service felt warm, informed, and unhurried, which suits the style of cooking here very well. Food: Lucia's menu is firmly Italian in technique and changes often. My party and I ordered a number of items across all four courses on the menu. The chef's choice salumi board was a nice way to start: a good range of cured meats with different textures and subtle herbal notes, more quietly enjoyable than mind-blowing, and presented beautifully. The sesame semolina sourdough with cultured butter is simple on paper, but it is one of those things you're happy to keep picking at: tangy, fluffy bread and a salty, rich butter that makes each bite feel indulgent. The standout among the starters is the crostone with blue cheese, buttered walnuts, and quince, which nails that salty-sweet, crunchy-creamy balance and ends up being one of the most memorable dishes of the night. Pastas and grains are where Lucia's strengths and quirks show up most clearly. The taglierini with Parmigiano Reggiano and white truffles is a comforting, cheesy bowl of noodles with good bite and depth from the cheese, but the truffle is surprisingly shy and does not justify the surcharge. The smoked sweetbread francobolli, on the other hand, is excellent: little, filled stamp-shaped pasta lifted by balsamic acidity, sweet cipollini onions, and aromatic sage. It is a great example of how Lucia handles richer ingredients with enough acid and sweetness to keep them in balance. The farro piccolo with pancetta, black king pearl mushrooms, and Taleggio fonduta looks dramatic and eats well from a texture standpoint, but the combination of fonduta and pancetta pushes the salt level too high, especially in a meal that already leans salty overall. Among the mains, the sea scallops with broccoli, almonds, Calabrian chili, and mint are the weak point. The plate is pretty, but some scallops are cooked just past ideal and pick up a fishy taste, and the chili and mint never really rescue the dish. In contrast, the plate of pork belly, tenderloin, and cotechino (a rich Italian pork sausage, traditionally served simmered) over lentils with charred leeks and apricot mustard is much more satisfying. All three pork preparations are tender and flavorful, and the apricot mustard is the element that ties everything together, cutting through the richness in a way that feels both classic and a little unexpected. It still leans salty, especially in the lentils, but the overall effect is comforting and cohesive. Dessert, on the other hand, was fantastic all around. The chocolate sorbet with Parmigiano Reggiano, olive oil, and sourdough pizzelle is one of the best bites of the night: deep, cold chocolate flavor with slightly salty, cakey bits for texture, a crisp pizzelle, and a fragrant hint of olive oil. The butternut squash pain perdu with goat milk caramel, pears, and pecan praline is another winner, essentially an elevated, custardy French toast with bright fruit, nutty crunch, and caramel tying it together. These two desserts do a lot of work in lifting the overall experience. Final Thoughts: Lucia offers creative and refined seasonal Italian-inspired dishes, and executes them well, but not perfectly. The room is charming, and the service is good. Taken together, it's a great spot, and I would recommend it to adventurous eaters who are willing to work for the reservation.

Agreeable 4/5 rating with the average reviews. Great atmosphere and decor, bar seating is nice as you can watch the kitchen, standard parking in bishop arts district. Online reservations book insanely fast so you will have to monitor the site occasionally. Still a soso chance of walk ins but note it is a smaller restaurant with limited seating. Also can check for cancellations on the website for last minute openings. Now the food, The risotto was amazing, star of the show. Our waiter provided a detailed tour of the menu, and they prefer you order the entire course so they can pace your experience. Foie Gras was good for those that observe, but forgettable Would I go again if it was convenient? Yes, but I wouldnt go out of my way and wake up early for the reservation drops.

We chose Lucia for my husband's birthday dinner, but the overall experience didn't meet expectations. We sat down at 6:30 PM and waited almost an hour for the courses to come out; even the bread took nearly an hour. I now understand why guests are asked to order everything at once. The salad felt thrown together without much care, and while most dishes tasted fine, they weren't memorable. The pork cheek in the pasta was overcooked, losing all the richness it should have had, though the mushrooms were prepared very well. Surprisingly, the bread was the best dish of the night. By the time we finished, we were so tired from the long wait that we skipped dessert and left the restaurant at 8:36 PM. With the price point and reputation, we expected a much better experience. Very cute restaurant though!

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant and had been hearing a lot of hype about it in different places. It's in a great area of Bishop Arts District creating a great atmosphere to walk around before or after dinner is always nice. The inside is cozy and comfortable with. Small bar and number of tables it's a smaller space. The overall experience was pretty good but not up to what I would have expected from all the positivity I had heard and the high price of the dishes. The service was confusing as we had many different waiters help us so we didn't know who to ask for when we needed help. The Bread course was tasty and probably my favorite dish but it took 45 mins to bring to our table after ordering which is disappointing when we were starved and saw bread sitting ready to go. We got half dozen oysters and they were ok and on the smaller size. The salad was extremely basic and would expect much more for $16 was a huge disappointment for the price. The Waygu Beef tounge app was tender but the raw mushrooms were not my favorite needed to be cooked or sautéed. The pasta dish was with Pork cheek and had nice flavor but the pork was cooked so long it had no crisp and was almost mushy while the pasta was over cooked. The chicken had good flavor and was juicy. Overall I appreciate they cha ge the menu often and try new things but some of the execution was lacking. Not sure I'd go back for how expensive the meal was.

Many years ago, my mother-in-law made reservations for Lucia. We were trying to get there during a tornado warning and ended up driving back for our safety. I cannot remember how long ago it was, 6 or 7 years ago, but we have talked about eventually eating here so many times that I finally got the coveted reservation 30 days out and we went last Thursday. The restaurant is beautiful inside and not too loud. My mother-in-law and I both got a glass of rose cava brut that was very nice. We learned from our server that we should order family style. My father-in-law was set on the wagyu bavette for an entree. For appetizers we ordered the beet and apple salad, the wagyu beef tongue (my choice), and sourdough bread with cultured butter. The wagyu tongue melted in my mouth! For pastas we got the ravioli grano arso ("burnt grains" with seeds, nuts, and chiles - this was fantastic. We also had rigatoni with wagyu short rib and mushrooms that also was amazing. For entrees we got the wagyu bavette and the olive oil poached snapper. For dessert we got two orders of the bomboloni which came with banana ice cream. Everything was delicious. It turns out the owner is from the same town as Eric R.'s cousin, so she was delighted to learn that when visiting our table. I hope i can get back here again without a multi-year hiatus!

I was so excited to try this restaurant! Heard great things all around and had seen videos claiming it was one of the best Italian restaurants in Dallas. Therefore, I had really high hopes going in. Reservation dates/times drop 30 days in advance and we were on it. The restaurant itself was very small and quaint tucked in Arts Bishop. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived. Our server was very knowledgeable. She literally walked us through every single item on the menu. She also mentioned that the menu changes frequently. Therefore, we most likely won't have the chance of ordering the same items for the next visit. The menu was broken down into four categories. (Anti-pasti, Primi, Secondi, Dolci) It was recommended that we order 2-3 plates from each category because the dishes were relatively small. Also, once you place you order; they cannot add any additional dishes to that order even you if you were still hungry later. DRINKS - Paper Airplanes 4/5 FOOD - Sourdough Bread 4/5: The bread was very good. Perfectly toasted and so moist. However, we were not aware there was a charge for bread. lol After we placed our entire order, our server asked if we would like some bread for the menu. She made is sound complimentary. - Oysters 2/5: I did not like the dressing on the oysters. Tasted like siracha and vinegar and it brought out the fishy-ness of the oysters. - Waygu Beef Tongue 2/5: Tasted fresh. However, not sure how it was cured but it tasted like bologna. It was more on the fatty side and way too salty. **The three dishes below were all overly salty and way too rich. Very underwhelming. - Taglierini 3/5 - Carnaeoli Risotto 2/5 - Rigatoni w/ Waygu Beef 3/5 - Olive Oil Poached Red Snapper 4/5: This was hands down the best dish of the night. DESSERT - Semolina Cake with roasted grapes, rosemary, honey, and pistachio ice cream 1/5: I never order dessert but decided to give this dish a shot because it sounded so good. What a mistake, because it was literally so dry. None of the toppings tied well together. I can appreciate the well curated menus and the creativity of the whole process, but I felt there was something lacking.

Can't find a babysitter, is there space for a 2 yo?

It's pretty small and not kid friendly.

For Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday walk-in how realistic is it to get a table at either right when they open or closer to the end of the night?

I went on a Thursday night (seated at 5:45 and left at almost 8) and I heard multiple couples get turned away. Maybe you'll be able to snag a table outside if it's one or two people but I wouldn't plan on getting the dining room.

Bar seating on a Friday, how early do I need to arrive?

On a Friday. 545. Maybe 6. They may accommodate you outside as well. I think every Friday is different.

To begin, I would not recommend using their valet even though it is free, because they seem to only have one person working it so it takes forever for them to take your car. We had to wait for over 10 minutes for the valet guy to come back to his post, meanwhile I'm stopped in the middle of the street with car having to drive around me. It would have been much faster to just park in their garage which is also free for I think 2 hours once validated by the restaurant. The valet also didn't have a system for keeping track of the cars, no key tag, number to text, or anything, he just asked for my name and said he would remember me. That didn't seem like the safest process to me. Not to mention, when we picked our car up he just gave me the key to drive it off from the space myself instead. Valet aside, the restaurant was really nice inside and had good balance of not quite fine dining, but also not too casual, which is what I was looking for. They also decorated for the holidays and the red bows overhanging were a nice touch. As an Italian restaurant, they had plenty of pasta options however our entire table decided to go with the waitress recommended Pollo Parmesan. I think we all were interested in the fact that it contained both red and white sauce, so it allowed us to have the best of both worlds. I wasn't sure how it would mix well at first, but it ending up complementing each other nicely. Lastly, the ladies also appreciate that they provided a bag hanger for their purses. I would like to come back to try their other dishes, I just won't waste time using valet again.

We finished savory dishes with the veal saltimbocca, and I swear it made me feel like I was sitting in Rome. The sauce was incredible, and the sage really brought everything together. But the true showstoppers? Dessert. My Italian grandma said the cannolo was the best she's ever had - and that says everything. Light, crisp, and not overly sweet. Then the chocolate dessert with olive oil and sea salt... I went in for two bites and somehow finished the entire thing without realizing. Easily the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. This place is out of this world. Would order all of these dishes again. In a city full of restaurants, this is one I will come back to every single time I'm in Dallas. Absolutely 5 stars. Brava.

It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. BTW, the offensive employee was in his late 40s to mid 50s with a slight build and salt and pepper hair.

I've eaten here a few times and would generally have given it a 4 star. But I just had the pasta…read morecarbonara and had to come drop a 5 star review just for that dish. It's hard to find Real carbonara out anymore. I don't know if it's the eggs in there that restaurants or people are worried about it but I don't have a problem with that at all. All that said, this was a great dish. Had the chicken carbonara with fettuccini and it could not have been done better. It was a special that night and I hope the put it on the menu permanently. Drinks were good as well. I'll be back. More often if carbonara gets on the menu :-)

Service was excellent on the evening we were there. We started with the mozzarella garlic bread, appetizer with spicy sausage. It's a huge portion enough for three people easily. Very good. Salads were nice and very fresh tasting. They certainly weren't bagged lettuce as you get in some restaurants these days. For entrées, the pasta Gianni was the big hit. Great flavor and you have your option on pasta and I chose penne. For dessert we had the special cheesecake which was amazing. Prices for wine, cocktails, and food are all very reasonable. We had a really nice time.
