Lucero's is confusing on Yelp since there are two locations. I haven't been to the other one lately (which is literally down the street), but this one has expanded. They still offer the lovely range of baked goods, churros, and cakes, flans, etc. It looks like they also offer whole cakes as well. Churros- just give them your money. They have regular churros and filled ones (Nutella, cajeta, mango, lemon, guava, etc.). Champurrado- hot and inviting. The large is gigantic Service is fast and no nonsense. They're very thorough, though. It's not really a place to hang out and eat, but you can stand around and scarf down a churros if you'd like. Parking is ok. The lot is dedicated but small, and the pavement is crackley and uneven, but fine for most cars.

A friend brought churros from this place and it was a hit! We loved it so much we bought some for another party and it did not disappoint. The churros were still good even as leftovers. Parking is limited in front of the store but there is street parking.

My Husbamd introduce me to this bakery when we first started dating. We meet back in March 25, 1997 we have been coming her since then we know live in bakersfield, every chance we get to come back into town we stop by Luceros. This has be our favorite, now we share it with our 2 sons they are now 22 & 23 yrs young. This place has been around for many years it's apart of this great community here in Bell Gardens. It's been apart of our family. I hope you will give it a try and find out why we like it so much, and make it a part of your family. We used to love getting our cakes here for every celebration, but lately the tres leches cake hasn't been the same. It's been dry, with only the top part soaked. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once.

My wife was scheduled to work at the Rite Aid in Maywood. I found Lucero Bakery about 3 block away from her work. Lucero Bakery is known for making one of the best churro in Southern California. Their churro is one of the best. It was hot, light and crunchy and not too sweet. They also have a good assortment of Mexican breads. DJ's rating: 4.35/5.00 Would I come back? Yes.

Lucero Bakery, a staple of the Bell Gardens/Commerce neighborhoods keeps me returning even after I've moved to OC. I recently dropped by at 6:30 am on a Friday and I was the only patron in the house. Maybe an off day or perhaps due to the increase in costs? The deals from the past are long gone. A churro will set you back $1.50 and in order to get price break, you'll need to buy 50 @ $1.25 a stick. Still the same churro, perfectly textured on the outside with a moist center. Apart from churros, their other offerings include sweet breads, flans, cakes, and bolillos. Try them out!

This is a go-to for cakes and churros. They do not disappoint! The tres leches cake de nuez and chocoflan are now a fam favorite. The price of the churros have increased quite a lot in past yrs though. A filled churro is now more than $3 - yikes! We will keep coming back for more though. read more

Dessert & food is good but service there is only one person there that seems like they like their job everyone there is super rude & literally take forever with orders. Wendi is very nice & really helpful seems like she enjoys working there. Recommend going but ask for wendi if you want a good service ! read more

It's been a few years since I've been to this bakery and I'm glad I was sent back this way for work! They've remodeled since I've last been here and now there's so much goodness on display! I ordered the tres leches cafe, one churro and regular champarrado all BOMB! I'll be back when I have more room for desserts... I'd suggest calling ahead so the goodness will be ready for pickup! There was a young man at the counter. Who was taking larger orders as priority than those who only asked for a few. I waited literally 15-20 min for two regular churros. There was only one woman in front of line. Then she left. The it was our turn but no the man at the register served a person who placed an order on phone and skipped us the moment he walked in a minute after the lady before us left. Really? The man who came in instead of waiting in line behind us he cut in front. The young man in register did not make eye contact nor did he acknowledge me and my friend. Did not say hello welcome or I will take care of you guys soon. Just a mute person. He needs better training in customer service.. What he did was rude. The place also understaffed on the day we were there. I hope next time I come over that person learns how to respect customers. read more

best churros I've ever had Grew up in the city. This place often had fundraisers where proceeds would go to the neighboring schools. People would often buy many churros and give them out. I remember getting many for free during my time at school. When I grew up, I finally went in to buy some only to find out that I never tried the best stuff. Turns out they have filled churros with many different filling options. Cajeta and Nutella are really great. Cant go wrong with Nutella, but Cajeta is better. I've tried vanilla and chocolate in the past. Off memory, those are really good too. definitely recommend this place read more

My family and I have been going to this place for quite a few years. They have the absolute best churros I've ever tasted. All orders are made to order. You get your churros freshly made and hot! Everyone that has tasted these, loves them. They are a hit at all our gatherings. I suggest, having them cut your churros in half, because it's easier for guests to eat. Several weeks ago a friend of mine went with me to Mama Churros Y Mas at El Sereno; upon finishing he states "I know of a place that is several times better than this." Upon hearing this, my ears perk up and I immediately ask where this place is. He says "Lucero Bakery." Lo and behold, here I am. Food: Cajeta (caramel) and vanilla filled churros: The freshly fried churros from food trucks and the churros from Mama Churros Y Mas at El Sereno are good but good is an odious word: why settle for good when you can have great? In comes Lucero's churros: these churros are crispy on the outside, chewy and harmonious in its interior [you have to eat one to understand], lightly oily and hearty in size [one churro here equal the size of two churros at other places]. Tres Leches Cake: I expected it to be a thicker and heartier cake but to my surprise, I'm wrong: it has a melt-in the mouth texture and it's sweet but delicately so. It is a refined cake that I normally would not associate with Mexican pastries. It's an unexpected surprise to say the least. Service: The staffs here are polite and pleasant. Ambiance: A typical Mom and Pop shop that is filled with a variety of goods: Mexican breads, cakes etc. Price: The price here is great: .60 for plain (cheaper than Costco apparently since at Costco one churro costs $1) and $1.85 per for filled. Advice: They have more than one location but go to the one at Commerce as opposed to Maywood since the Commerce location opens later, accepts credit cards and have all four flavors as opposed to two [cajeta and chocolate only at Maywood]. read more

Office was having a pre Xmas breakfast treat. Pre-ordered the day before, picked up the next day at 7am. Everyone raved about how delicious they were. One person said they were the closest she's had to the ones from Mexico City. Service as always was prompt and courteous. Highly recommend. read more

This review is in regards to the service. We usually order a large quantity for our employees and prepay for the order. We asked for the churros to be ready by 9:30. It was not ready by that time and looked like it was just being made when I asked for my order. Waited about 25 minutes to receive it and I asked what time they were supposed to have it ready and they said 9:30-10 which was a lie. Could have owned up to the mistake but do not appreciate the dishonesty. read more

As temperatures drop, who doesn't like Mexican pan, churros and birotes with champurrado? I'm sorry. I really am, but I have to be honest. Not sure what was the big hype with this place. The churros are so gross. We ordered regular churros and relleno churros. Oh my they were, literally soaking in oil. One bite and all you taste is cheap old oil and sugar. Literally soaking in oil. Our stomachs hurt so bad after eating these churros. The pan and birotes where mediocre, nothing special. Taste like something you'd buy at El Super. The champurrado was packed with too much sugar. Again, we felt so sick afterwards, that we wont be back. read more

Great churros, If they dont make you wait 30 minutes for your churros and gave them to you cold. They need more personnel. Got there, paid, wait, A person that came in 10 minutes after I paid a lady came order paid and walked away with her order in no more thann10 minutes, show got 25 churros, I order 30. read more

My family has been buying from Luceros for years but we have noticed over the years it just keeps getting worse. The cake I ordered was supposed to be a center photo and decorations surrounding the photo to make it really pop. Well on day of pick up I get there and it's a disgustingly basic cake. I swear they were barely icing the cake when I got there. The writing, looks like chicken scratch, was done sloppily and rushed you can tell by the way it looks. I ordered one month in advance just to prevent this from happening and still an unsatisfactory cake. 180 dollars right down the drain it feels like. We used to place large orders for our work place fundraisers. I highly recommend you call ahead and try to order the jalapeño cream cheese Bolillos with chorizo. They don't make them every day so call ahead. Everything I've had from there has been good so far. I'm just sad I don't live closer to enjoy their food on the weekends. read more

Stopped by for a sweet treat and I was not impressed by the building or even the interior...little did I know the churros and pastries here are AMAZING!! We ordered churros to go and had some of the huge pink muffins (I think they are guava) topped with nuts, it is my new favorite breakfast muffin. The churros are made fresh so be patient as it takes a while especially if there are other large orders ahead of yours but they are definitely worth the wait!! Weeks later we ordered a carrot cake for our grandmother and it was perfect, everyone loved it and wanted to know where it was from. The best place for churros. They are fresh and not overpriced. They're a big hit at parties, and they open at 5am so you can pick them up before work. You can also call ahead to place an order, which is helpful, especially if you have a large order. read more

Unfortunately, my daughter did not eat her smash cake with two attempts, but fortunately that left more cake for me & my family . By the way, I priced several bakeries and home bakers, and Blue Cake House along with the others were all roughly the same price. Some were more expensive by $40 and some were less by $20, so I would say their pricing is competitive. I paid $40 for a smash cake, where as Amy's Pastry charges $16 but they add fees for every little thing such as fruit, colored frosting, etc. Plus, they are limited on cake flavors & fillings. Blue Cake House is a small business and I like to support smaller businesses. Their cakes taste amazing and will not disappoint. I will definitely be using Blue Cake House for my future orders!

The eclairs costed $7, which I thought was pretty steep, but they are quite large; the coffee was good, but the chocolate one was definitely the highlight. The showstopper for us was the cinnamon brown sugar roll. It was crispy, and the cinnamon and sugar had the perfect balance and ratio. Loved every bite, I can't wait to come back and try more!

Lucero Bakery offers delicious treats like churros, tres leches cakes, and a variety of other pastries that I absolutely love. However, I feel the business has some areas that could be improved. The bakery is so popular that there are often long lines out the door, but with only two cashiers, the wait can be frustrating. Adding more cashiers would make a big difference in improving customer experience. Additionally, I've noticed some instances where employees have been less than friendly, which can put a damper on the overall experience. I hope the owner takes these concerns seriously and works on improving these issues. If not, they risk losing loyal customers like me, as the long wait times and occasional poor service make it harder to enjoy their amazing products. I'd love to see Lucero Bakery thrive and continue to be a favorite in the community. read more

Oh man they went from 5 stars to 1 star! Well of the 4 plaine churros they were all hard on the outside and raw on the inside. I am old enough to know raw and cooked or soft set. They were the worst churros I ever had but then they were cheap.....I got what I paid for. I know most people will eat anything and since they paid for it they will eat it. I will take one bite then trash it if it is not up to par cheap or not.....most times it goes back. Then there are times that can't happen so in the rubber maid. I really wanted to like this place I was excited. The one saving grace was the tres leches cake was good. read more

But the Cajeta churro (warm Sugar Daddy Carmel) all warm and crunchy, haunts me while I sleep!!! I'm slightly agoraphobic , but those Cajeta Churros definitely will cure that phobia! read more
