Luby's is comfort. That's all that needs to be said but let me elaborate. Luby's has been a family favorite. We used to eat at a Luby's almost every Sunday after church. We would always run into other family or friends and enjoy a meal together. Then there was the announcement that all Luby's were going to be shut down and they did shut down a few locations including the one in Pearland where I live. Luckily, they were saved and there are still locations to be found in and around Houston and surrounding cities. I met my family here on a random Sunday and it still felt like back in the day. Most of the clientele are the older generation, dressed in their Sunday best. Very chill. Expect a line at peak lunch time. All the staff are also mostly old school and give excellent customer service. Luby's is cafeteria style which means, you get in line and work your way down the line starting with salads and work your way down to desserts. They have a wide variety of thing in each category. You got your regular salads, but then you got stuff like ambrosia salad, carrots and raisins, jello, etc. For mains, they got a little bit of everything as well. You got all the proteins in different styles. My go to almost everytime is the chicken fried steak. It's a generous portion and seasoned just right. I like mine with gravy on the side. My back up is their famous fried square fish. I'm not a huge fish guy, but this is always a tasty choice. I can never make up my mind with the sides and just get a bunch. I love their fried okra, broccoli rice casserole, and their famous mac and cheese. They also have quite a few bread choices. All of which is good. Dessert choices are usually different each time depending on our moods and is usually shared. I personally like to get some of their fruit salad from their salad options and finish my meal off somewhat healthy. That doesn't mean I don't atleast have a bite or two of the sweets. Overall, still a classic and still a favorite of my families. I'll be back!

Since i was kid :) Ive been eating at Lubys Their food is always on point. Almost like a McDonald's system with their flavor. It never changed and has always been consistent. I enjoy that alot. Never Change!!!!! If for some reason i had to have The 2 fried fish with Mac and Mashed Potatoes with a Roll as my last meal i wouldn't be sad at all. 10/10 It's always hot and fresh. Crispy too. Smells like childhood. Fast service. I love the cafeteria style cuisine and system (take a tray and move down the line) I took my Girlfriend here! To Lubys for the first time! And she LOVED it! :) shes a very picku Girl too! We were both happy campers that day and we owe it to you Lubys ! Please keep the staff happy and working in a healthy environment. Keep it heated in there! It was pretty cold in there. They are incredible with their service and they pay attention to your orders. 10/10 Thank you So Much Lubys for the hospitality. Been coming here whenever I visit htx, but I was a little confused about the sides situation. Our server was very friendly and accommodative. I am following a keto diet so I got the roast chicken, with collard greens , pickled beets and cucumber salad but I feel they had sugar in it so had to skip eating it. In general taste has been consistent, good bang for your buck. My fav item generally is the chicken fried steak w/ gravy (not in picture) sadly couldn't eat any because of my diet, but my family did enjoy theirs.

I look forward to Luby's Thanksgiving food every year. While cooking is great, I enjoy the tasty variety they have to offer that are ready to go. The interior is neat and clean, with plenty of trays available. While the lines can be long, I feel that they've gotten a lot more organized in the last few years, having several staff members helping to move the line along. Regarding the food, it's both visually appealing and oh so tasty. I love the turkey, Mac and cheese, ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread and rolls and stuffing (yum!) to name just a few of the dishes. Their food really has that home-cooked feel that helps make Thanksgiving special.

Luby's is for lovers! What better way to spend Valentines Day than with a loved one (or group of loved ones) at Luby's. My fondness of Luby's is part nostalgia, part love of cafeteria dining and comfort foods. And if you're a native Houstonian, you likely feel the same. On this particular Valentine's Day, the service was great, food was fresh, and they had some of the best 80s pop and dance music playing on the speakers. You can't beat that on one of the busiest and overhyped restaurant-dine-out holidays of the year. It breaks my heart that so many locations have closed over the years. So if you are a true fan of this local gem, grab some friends and make a fun night of it at Luby's! :)

Can you believe this? Eating at Luby's final Friday of January was my first time eating out since the new year. I was also glad to see so many older customers eating out post Covid-19 pandemic. I was very hungry and thirsty after my booster shot at the clinic. That wasn't the symptoms but driving by Luby's made me want to poke in there. Right before entering, I saw my appetite pumped up. Yeah 25% off for veterans and military. Most places only offer 5-10%. Gee. I could really overindulge myself with that discount. I haven't been to any Luby's since working from home early 2020. So I forgot how to order. I remember it's a cafeteria style. To make decision simple, I ordered a combo special with sausage. Uh? Employees were not familiar with the combo or they couldn't hear me with mask on. Either way, I got my discounted meal. The ice tea dispenser was down (not appetizing not a fan of iced tea from a machine), only clear water came out. A nice young man pointed out the other cashier to get ice tea. By the time I walked over, I changed my mind. Ah. It's ok. I'll just drink plain water. It's free anyway. My chopped steak was pretty tender and juicy. Fried okra was still crunchy. The green beans was like GREEN and FRESH. Yeah. Two thumbs up!!! However, the cornbread was dry like a brick. I noticed few tables got yellow sponge after they left the restaurant. Ha! I'll know what to order or not to order next time.

    Hairy fish
    Candice R.

Went earlier this month to the OST location, and there were quite a few strands on hair fried within the batter of my fish. Went to the S Post Oak location today, and EVERYTHING on my plate was cold. The waiter said it's been happening for a month so far, and management is aware, but nothing's been done. He mentioned he's had 40-50 plates sent back for the same thing. Since it's been issues at 2 locations, and nothing's being done, I conclude that Luby's doesn't care about their customers nor their quality. Kind of makes me think they're self-sabotaging, especially since so many locations are closing.

The food is hot and tasty. The fried fish was flaky and tender on the inside. The inside was warm and comfortable. The service was adequate but not the friendliest. Nice place to dine for a good meal of choice.

Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

I stopped by with my buddy on a Thursday evening close to 9 p.m. Free parking was a cinch in the parking lot they share with several other businesses. Service (4.5/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. The lady who brought me my food checked on me twice and was super nice. She called me "sweetheart," a little Southern hospitality goes a long way. Ambiance (4/5): Modern, clean, and comfortable. In line with other Dish Society locations I've been to. We sat at a booth/table combo. Drinks (4.5/5): I love when a restaurant has more than your standard selection of soft drinks. You'll find that at Dish Society. They have "craft" sodas and a nice selection of juice blends. Plus sweet and unsweet tea. Food (4/5): I went with a cup of the tomato bisque soup and the Nutella French toast. The soup tasted as good as it looked. Some croutons or a piece of garlic bread would have been nice, but outside of that, this starter couldn't have been better. The Nutella French Toast was similarly well done. I love French Toast and I love Nutella. So this was a match made in heaven. Along with some sliced strawberries and some blackberries, I was happy I went with a breakfast dish for dinner (they serve brunch all day). The prices are affordable for the quality of the food. My only complaint? The portion sizes are pretty small. Case in point: two slices of French toast when most places will give you four. Pro tip: Join their club for discounts.

The staff were also pleasant and attentive, checking in on us and making sure we knew what dishes were new and popular. Each bite was balanced and flavorful, going well with both of the sauces. The chicken parm was also elevated in flavor, giving a home-like and rich feeling to each bite. Bottom line is that Milton's should be your go to place for just good old Italian fare but in an upscale but not stuffy atmosphere. Mark Sayre - the restaurant groups beverage director hosted the charity dinner for my wife and I and 4 other guests. We were served 9 courses family style including a couple of cold plates, a couple of salads, a couple of pastas and a couple of entrees along with a dessert. Everything was fantastic and Mark did a great job of hosting and explaining the wine pairings. The best of the apps was the Sicilian Tar tar. Tuna, scallop and salmon perfectly marinated on crostinis. The Hearts of Palm Salad was excellent, and they are definitely sharable, probably made for 3 - 4 guests to share. Of the two pastas the Cresta De Gallo stood out the most, but the Bolognese was also virtually perfect. Of the two entrees we enjoyed the Chicken Piccata slightly more than the Hanger Steak. On our second visit, Ryan was our server. He had been our server at Underbelly, One Fifth and Georgia James in the past and remembered us immediately and was a wonderful host for the meal. This time the table enjoyed the Chargrilled Oysters and the Parsley Salad to start. We also sampled 4 pastas - The Cresta De Gallo again, the Chitarra with Scallops and Uni, the Lumache with Vodka Sauce and the Sourdough Tagliatelle. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the Chitarra. In the end we finished off all 4 so no leftovers. We then shared the Chicken Piccata as our only entree. This dish is so good. Juicy Chicken, flavorful sauce, and the Sourdough Tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed two desserts - The Budino (which is more like a chocolate tort than a pudding) and the Tiramisu. Both wonderful. If Milton's wasn't over an hour from our house, it would become a regular on the rotation. But it is definitely good enough to warrant many return visits.

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!

This was my second time dining here, and given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, my expectations…read morewere higher than usual. Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.
