A friend recommend this place for our lunch meeting and it lived up to expectations. The place is very clean and the staff was friendly. Our coworker from Jalisco, Mexico has been saying that he couldn't find Ahogadas here in Houston. I was like that is impossible, its got to be somewhere. So the journey actually took us many years to find it here at Dichos. Thanks to Chris Shepherd's Eat like a Local show able to find the dish. Ahogada is basically a wet torta, I know it doesn't sound the greatest of a soggy sandwich, but let me tell you it works here. Now for my fellow coworker who descends from Jalisco, he gave it a 6/10, which for us just trying it for the first time it was more like an 8/10. I even had one coworker who never really eats out said next time we go we need to take him after we let him have a sample. Went there on a Saturday night (after 9pm with a total of 6 people (myself included). The place was pretty empty so we didn't have an issue getting a table. There's plenty of tables around and they were playing some weird religious/fortune teller show. It was weird but looked silly. The server was friendly and was attentive. My partner and I had the Enchilada Suizas (chicken), a Huarache (pastor), and an Horchata. Both dishes and Horchata were tasty. No complaints on the food. The only issue I had was the fact that they added their tip but didn't tell us and the device they used to have us pay had no information/itemization of our items so we didn't know and actually ended up tipping them more. We hadn't realized that we had given them extra tips until after they gave us the receipt. The place was very clean and inviting. Music was nice and at a level where guest could have a conversation. The food was good and priced fairly. Chips and salsa they provided to us were very good and flavorful. The service was good as expected. Our server followed up with us to see if we needed anything. Never asked us how our food was. Our friend took us to this authentic spot for a true Tex mex breakfast, and it hit the spot. My huevos scramble with tortillas on the side was perfect to make my own breakfast tacos. The tortillas were warm and delicious. The mega breakfast taco was also probably a favorite dish at the table. The chips and salsas were so tasty and flavorful too! I love dichos! They have such great portions and their breakfast tacos are amazing. They have healthy options too if that's what you're looking for. I've ordered grilled chicken with sides and you can choose plain corn on the cob, steamed veggies, potatoes, rice etc. My favorite thing to order is the breakfast tacos. I've never had such delicious homemade flour tortillas. They're so soft and smell heavenly. You can choose to have refried beans in your tacos and I would highly suggest trying them. I can't believe I didn't take a pic of my chilaquiles !!! So delicious. I requested chilaquiles with guajillo sauce and fajitas . The fajitas were so delicious. My aunt got her chilaquiles with Salsa verde and no cheese. She say they were so tasty. My husband enjoyed his huevos rancheros. He also got a small bowl of menudo . It was fresh . You do ask for hominy . And the tortillas are also fresh! The menudo is delicious and did not disappoint . It's a slightly different than our family recipes but still a great flavor ! I've been to Dicho's twice now and the second time has me sold. The soup I ordered the first time was just okay and was way smaller than they said it would be on the phone so it was a bit overpriced imo. There was also too much dry shredded white chicken in it, it just wasn't great. What convinced me to go back is the tiny side of red salsa they gave me - SO GOOD. I'm really interested in going back and eating in person so I can practically drink the stuff. The second time I ordered the fish tacos plate and I love that not only does it come with 3 sides but they have a wide range of options. I'm really happy I went back because those are some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The downsides are that guy at the front who takes to go orders has an apathetic and unfriendly attitude both on the phone and in person during both visits. It's hard to convey in a succinct review, but it's really off-putting. And they're really stingy on the to-go salsa and charge for to-go chips, which is weird because it's served unlimited on the tables. It's also weird that they have store bought and homemade tortillas and they charge for them (but I admit, they're phenomenal). The unfriendly attitude and nickel & diming is really the reason I knock off a star but I will definitely be back. read more

Wow! This place is authentic, yummy, and cheap!! Everything I look for in a restaurant. I ordered the quesadilla plate, and it was $12.99. It comes with three sides, which I selected guacamole, rice, and fries. The portions were all so large. They did not skimp out on the guac at all, and the beef fajita inside the quesadilla was so flavorful and tender. I cannot recommend this place enough. Saw this place on Houston Local. What a great experience. Very clean and friendly people. They also help you order with some recommendations of their favorites. My wife had a quesadilla. It was good and had fresh ingredients. My daughter had chicken street style tacos. She enjoyed the charred bits of the end of the chicken as well as the charred onions that came with it. She said the green sauce was full of flavor and was a medium hot. I ordered a torta by recommendation of our waiter. The torta came with pastor meat, beans, guacamole, lettuce and tomato. The outside of the torta was slightly grilled to add texture to the bread. I would definitely try the torta. Overall this place was pretty good. The food was packaged with no regard to damaging food. a Taco Salad was in an open container and the tortilla shell was broken. 6 Street Chicken Tacos, the container was open and smashed into food smearing on to cheese making it stick to top of styrofoam. Charro Beans were cold and liquid spilled out making bean dry. The guacamole was also in bent and broken container. When I called the woman said she used the bag she had available. The elotes was corn on the cob with crema :/ and no spices. The burrito and the hot sauce & spicy green sauce & chips were fairly decent. Five stars for Dichos and for SARAH! It was a cold and rainy evening. We ordered tacos, caldo de pollo and another caldo. It was delicious! The chips and salsa were really good too - definitely enjoyed the red salsa. They play good music. The place is super clean. They have Covid restrictions and everyone is wearing masks.
