Great bang for the buck here! Came for breakfast with a big group and everyone's food looked amazing. I got the chorizo breakfast taco which was gigantic and pretty cheap. Their salsa that can with it elevated the taco. I took photos of my friend's Frank Special as well! My third time coming. Definitely my last. Will only come here cause sometimes I have work close by and just want to grab some breakfast. Every time they always take forever to take my order, they never have enough waitresses I think, so expect a long wait time. This last time I was sitting their for a good while, it was only when I got up to leave is when she decided she wanted to take my order, while all this time she new I was sitting there for more than 20mins. So I just left. And also the waiters and the cook will argue with each other loud. So expect some commotion between them. Definitely will not recommend this place. read more

Went today at 11am and still hadn't had my order taken by 11:50. The 2 young girls who work there have TERRIBLE attitudes, i've gone on several occasions and they are rude and roll their eyes when given orders. The lady with the pink/ red hair is the sweetest and most hard working one there. I first noticed this place when passing by on my way to take the Sam Houston boat tour of the ship channel and made a note to return another time for breakfast. While the promised "Best breakfast in Texas" on the sign may be a little over the top, Frank's did not disappoint. We arrived at around 9:30 am, and the place was bustling with all different kinds of people from whole families with small children to men who had recently gotten off of work at the port. Despite the number of people, we were still immediately seated and our waitress got us started off with menus and coffees. Upon taking a look at the food on offer, you see that the breakfast menu includes both traditional breakfast items as well as more unique options like wings and eggs, baby beef liver and onions, and pork chops and waffles. We went with the special (2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, grits or hashbrowns, and 1 pancake) as well as a grilled chicken taco with a side of fried okra. When we received our order, it quickly became obvious that this place offers some of the best value for money in town. Our plates were humongous. The taco was stuffed so full that we had to eat it with a fork and knife with the pancake barely fitting on the plate. The overall flavor of the food was nothing spectacular, but then at a place like this you don't expect it to be. It tasted like a diner breakfast is supposed to. And at prices of $10 for the special and $6 for the taco (honestly more like a burrito), there were no complaints from our side. Full disclosure: I've never actually been to Frank's, I've only ordered it through Uber Eats. Breakfast food is my favorite category of food, and Frank's Grill serves the best in town. It's an old-fashioned, greasy spoon diner kinda place. An outright ridiculous amount of food, dirt-cheap, served hot and delicious. Thick-cut bacon dripping in grease, pancakes bigger than the box they come in, and not a vegetable around for miles, unless you count the pound of hash browns. It does seem like they're pretty hit-or-miss sometimes -- I've had a handful of bad experiences -- but when they hit, dear God they hit hard. It's kind of part of the place's charm. I have been to 4 Frank's Grill across Houston area. Today's visit to the location on Clinton Dr was by far the worst of them. We went early enough that it wasn't too crowded or too busy. We went in and seated ourselves first at a booth. The table was cleared but wasn't clean. It was sticky and needed the crumbs wiped off it along with the water glass rings on the table. We then got up and moved to a table. The only difference was this table wasn't sticky. I like greasy spoon diners. But the literal word greasy was everywhere. I usually love the hash browns but these were mushy burnt and terrible My eggs were cooked over easy but the outside of the eggs were not white/ whiteish no they were dark brown. Like they were cooked on a dirty grill. The bacon was slightly warm to cool and only edible cuz it's Wright bacon. The pancake was black on one side, the bottom side and the side served up was a light light brown: almost under cooked. Needless to say we left 90% of the meal on the plate, paid and left. This particular location still uses the old menus. It looks like the old pricing still pretty cheap. But honestly I would pay more to eat in a cleaner, nicer establishment such as the one on hwy 6. That restaurant is a class act. Magnum and Pasadena locations are not too shabby either older but at least cleaner. It's all in the management It is my last time there and Frank's needs to get their collective a#s together and get Clinton location back in line! Oh yes, while at the register a lady walked in and complained to cashier about not answering phone. I heard the phone just ringing away while at the table. The cashier told the lady they were too busy to answer the phone. Believe when I say this, the whole time there I never saw more than 1 customer at the cashier. Too busy, It's just lazy. We had an order of 13 meals which took them 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete because the cook got the initial order wrong. The offered to recook fries for the burgers since it took so long, but the extra fries they gave us were under cooked and colder than the fries in the original packaging. The cheese burgers were cold and mostly unappetizing which ruined the lunch as most people didn't eat what was presented. As a customer that was using them frequently for orders like this, we won't return our business to them. Instead, we will go elsewhere to insure our lunch is completed in a timely manner and edible once we receive it. read more

This was a first stop for lunch during a trip to Houston. Definitely experienced that southern hospitality as soon as we walked in the door. This place is not much to look at but the food is excellent and the portion sizes are huge for the prices. It was pretty packed around lunch time for the service did not waiver. The waitress got to us right away and the food came out pretty quickly. They have a very unique way of serving their sandwiches, cut into squares and on toothpicks (see photo). I thought it was super cute! Waffles fries are excellent. The hashbrowns were a little bland but nothing a little hot sauce and ketchup can't fix. read more

This is the 2nd time we ordered from Frank's Grill (delivered by a 3rd party) and they didn't send gravy with the order despite chicken fried chicken being part of it. THAT part doesn't get the 1-star review; it's the manager on duty who refused to partially compensate us for the order, refused to send gravy to make up for it (both of which would mean the food is cold by then) and then told us we'd have to make a whole new order before he would provide said gravy. Customer service grade - F, with a recommendation to send him back to remedial management training. Basically, if we weren't willing to spend MORE money for food we didn't want, he wasn't interested in trying to make up for the same screw-up done twice. Ah, and the biscuits are cold and weren't split and grilled per our order, something Frank's is well-known for. I hope the other locations are still doing fine, because the Westheimer location appears to be foundering if THIS is what they find acceptable customer service. This is one of those spots in the historic 5th ward that you could drive by and think it was closed, and it has been closed for years. The best way to describe this food is real southern cooking. Restaurant is in a really unassuming area which is filled with manufacturing companies so a bunch of the clients are manufacturing facility workers. You can go inside and get food from the steam heated trays, or order from the grill. I walked up and got some baked chicken with rice and green beans. Maybe I havent had a lot of good green beans, chicken, or rice but I think this was pretty awesome. They serve you gigantic southern sized portions so if you leave some of the half chicken that they serve you, its a relatively healthy option for a work-lunch. Just as a commentary, the people I was with said that the burgers and other "bunned" selections were amazing. Thank you to the staff of Frank's Grill for providing not only a delicious breakfast but AWESOME customer service. We brought a large group in for breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! The portions were huge and the price was right!! Although they had a relatively small staff, they were able to get my party of 15 completely served and out the door in about 40 minutes, which worked out great because we were in a rush. We aren't from this area but we do host meetings here often. We'll definitely be back when we're in town again!! read more
