Ya know. I think the food here might be worst than hospital food yall! I came here with a friend after we left a function. And for some reason she was raving about lubys and I cant figure out why. The food here is served a la carte. You grab your tray and go through the line and tell them what you want. I chose one entree with 2 sides. I selected the fried fish, initially black eyed peas and sweet potatoes. Well my black eyed peas were cold. Disappointing and they didn't have anymore. I instead got dirty rice and it wasn't great. The fried fish was dense greasy and not flavored well, hot sauce didnt help and the sweet potatoes were just okay. The pecan pie was sweet not good or frankly worth the calories. My family went to eat here and an older black lady Bridgette was sooo rude she treated the black couple in front of us kindly then the black man after with courtesy but she served my food sloppily and would barely answer my questions without a hateful tone. she was yelling at me about the price and my ability to pay for it...I asked for no onions and she placed so many on my plate. i was ready to leave at that point. The other staff thought it funny and I called the manager named Solomon and he was not helpful he put the blame on me because I was upset and did nothing to make us feel welcome either (btw he is blaxk too). I asked for a business card and corporate number but they claim there were none and three witnesses to that as well. My food was cold and the onions I asked her not to give me she threw in the plate anyways. Pleasantly surprised. I had the roasted chicken with black eyed peas, cabbage and jalapeño cornbread. Chicken was delicious, tender and well seasoned. Both sides were good and well seasoned. Cornbread was a little dry but I ate it anyway. The smaller entree was more than adequate. I've avoided this place but need to reconsider my evaluation. It was a group outing and we had an helper who attended to all of our needs. This was really great. Of course parking is more than adequate because it's located in a strip mall. I don't go to Lubys but my family wanted to go. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food and service were good. My wife told me about the luan platter, less food for less money. Found out they even have a senior discount for the luan platter so I got and enjoyed that. I enjoyed a smaller portion chicken fried steak with a choice of brown or white gravy....I tried brown and it was great, it came with 2 sides, I loved the green beans and spinach. read more

Went earlier this month to the OST location, and there were quite a few strands on hair fried within the batter of my fish. Went to the S Post Oak location today, and EVERYTHING on my plate was cold. The waiter said it's been happening for a month so far, and management is aware, but nothing's been done. He mentioned he's had 40-50 plates sent back for the same thing. Since it's been issues at 2 locations, and nothing's being done, I conclude that Luby's doesn't care about their customers nor their quality. Kind of makes me think they're self-sabotaging, especially since so many locations are closing. read more

I've been coming here since I was little and Luby's has a special place in my heart. However, sometimes it can be a hit or miss depending on the time of day you go. If you go during lunch or dinner time usually the food is fresh. My go to is the fried fish with tartar sauce with corn and fried okra. Nothing quite like some good old comfort food after a long day. I like to eat here when I want a healthy meal. The interior is nice & the food is pretty good. My only complaint is sometimes the food is cold. I've been going to this Luby's since I was young, and it has changed for the worse. Recently went to pick up some food for a quick bite cause I was in a rush and the service was horrible. To-go was out of service for the day and everyone had to resort to waiting in line for 30 minutes. Once I got to the front, I ordered my usual fried fish with green beans and macaroni and everything was out of sorts. The servers were frustrated and looked tired, food was not very fresh, and management didn't seem to do much about it sadly. I got home, ate my food, and later on in the night I had the worst stomach ache. My intestines were grumbling and I felt out of sorts, nauseated and on the verge of throwing up. The morning after I still wasn't feeling good, I had to call into work to let them know I wasn't going to be in! I hope management from this location or even Calvin Gin see's this post and is able to review over this and bring back the Luby's most of us knew and loved. read more

This is definitely not the Luby's I remember as a kid. This "fancy" Luby's, features outdoor seating, spacious inside, flat screens, colorful balloons, a multitude of windows, and a bar. Not sure if they serve alcohol, but there was a seperate "bar area" with a server and all. But everyone is right. We want out condiment table! We want our condiment tay-bal!!! Seriously. I come to Luby's for two things: mac 'n' cheese and hot rolls with honey butter. And here are two things that went wrong: sloooow check out service so that by the time we sat down, the grub was less than warm, and we had to wait even longer for that sweet butter. Oh wait, they don't have butter. They only carry margarine now! So it sucks that you now have to ask your hard-to-be-found server for things like butter, ketchup, hot sauce and straws. But I'll still go back. They've got this buy-one-get-one-half off deal every night after 4:30pm Mon-Fri, which is not bad for a simple dinner in Uptown. read more

Being born & raised in Texas...Luby's it the cafeteria I grew up eating at. Their LuAnn plates are a good value & just the right amount of food. My favorite go-to is Fried Fish, Fried Okra, Fried Cabbage & the Cucumber/Tomatoes/Red Onion salad. The service staff are very gracious & will always go out of their way to help. read more

We have been residents of this community since this Luby's was part of the original Meyer Park. This location has always been a go to for my family for fresh, healthy choices. Sad to say, I will take my business from now on to the W. Airport location- where I've never had a problem. The last few times I've visited this location around 6:30-7, they seem to have very limited choices and unwilling to make fresh items. Today I had enough and asked for the manager - an Asian man comes from the back and just stood like an idiot without identifying himself. The server had to say "ma'am here's the manager". When my mother and I proceeded to tell him about the food choices, his response was "we close at 8". There was a whole hour left ‍. He has no customer service or leadership skills. I am an elementary school principal who is used to leading and he was awful. I even asked if he spoke English because he offered no explanation or resolution. Last visit to this location. read more

If i could give zero stars i would we ordered sides for our thanksgiving dinner and what we ordered is not what we got. The sides said 5-6 servings and it looks more like for 3 servings the fruit salad with kiwi and strawberries looked delicious in the picture online and we got a jar that looked like watered jelly. Review #41. I have to admit that I haven't eaten at a Luby's in years! YEARS! I don't know why because they have so many healthy choices as well as comfort food. I went for the healthy today. This location is newer and has a more modern vibe. Clean, friendly employees, lots or tvs on the walls and a take-out area. Just as a side note, I always leave $1 or $2 tip for the servers, even if they aren't doing much. They are still cleaning your table and getting your drinks, to go boxes and such. Luby's is your traditional cafeteria. Grab your silverware and tray and move on down the line. First there are several salad options, then there are the meats (fish. chicken, fried or not, liver, pork chops, chicken fried steak, etc) then veggies (I was hoping for more options) and and sides, then comes dessert. The popular way to go as always been the "Luann Plater" which is an entree, two sides and a roll for a set price. You can always add more or get what you want a la carte. Luby's also has special salads you and order and soups. I noticed that they were advertising an all you can eat breakfast on the weekends for a steal! They have a kids menu and I believe if you go online you can get a coupon for a free kids meal. Kids eat free Wed and Sat - how I know this and I don't have kids is pretty sad. read more

This is the new and improved Luby's cafeteria. They are strongly trying to break away from the "go to place senior citizens", not that there is anything wrong with our awesome seniors!! I get it, everybody is your run of mill mediocre restaurant but I think this new Luby's making a huge leap in the right direction to update it's image. They redesigned the entire place of the ground up. Stylish new decor with a open flow to the sitting area. The wait staff is very prompt and attentive. The food is good as always... I have been eating Luby's since I could remember. Its always been good to me!! I appreciate the home- cooked meal in a nice modern setting. They have done it right for years, beat out Picadilly and Wyatt's cafeterias that I can recall that were in the Houston area. A few years ago I was doing a marketing project where we investigated the changes in branding that Lubys was undergoing. This location is exactly what we found out about-- a more spaced floorplan, modern lighting, and a more toned down color scheme designed to evoke a sense of home. They have an accent wall covered in the history of Luby's, and flat screen TVs around the perimeter. The changes seem to be working. There were over 30 people in a line that winded through the middle of the restaurant, leading to a long and brightly but softly lit serving line. There were multiple staff at each station, a nice departure from other Luby's locations that kept the line moving fast. My girlfriend and I each got a combo from what looked like a wider variety of food than we've seen at other locations. The low walls to the kitchen revealed a team cooking items nonstop to restock the line. The entrees were on point-- fresh, hot, and tasty. My baked almondine was perfect with just a splash of lemon on top. The sides were a different story. My jambalaya was room temperature and unevenly seasoned, while the sweet potatoes were cold and tasted like they'd been sitting out way too long. Out of all the sides, only the mac and cheese was acceptable, and even that was a bit bland. I'd definitely give this place another chance, but they need to step up their side dishes match everything else in this location. read more

This is a very clean Lubys. They doing dine in and take out. The staff are efficient and friendly! They have plenty of food and dessert options. They are definently practicing social distancing and its easy to locate. I pray that this location stay open the seniors deserve and love there southern hospitality! read more

THE BEST LUBY'S in the greater Houston area, honestly! My mom and I come to this location pretty frequently, especially on Sunday's after church. The line would be long because of the 'church crowd' (my mom and I are part of this crowd lol)...but I love this location, from the awesome staff to the fantastic food. It's a high volume location but this location isn't lacking on the customer service and tasty food. My favorite dish is the fried liver and onions (I'm sure you are gushing over it lol) but it is always cooked well here. The liver is very tender and flavorful. The side dishes are always hot and fresh, the cornbread is the best part!! Overall, THIS LOCATION DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!! read more

The food here was terrible. My Jello had items in it that I could not make out. I went to the person who was serving it, completely ignored me the first time, The second time he told me to go to the back of the line. The cashier allowed me to trade it out. My main course was cold and to top it off when the person working the near the Jello yelled at me to go to the back when I was trading it out. In the past month I have tried to call in an order several times, the first and only time the phone was answered when I told her what I wanted she had a rude tone and said we don't have any. I have tried calling several times since then and have been on hold 15 to 20 minutes. Tried one last time today and after 20 minutes got voice mail, like leaving a message is going to ensure my order is placed, ready when I get there and they actually have what I ordered. read more

Best place ever, I love going to Luby's. I'm from San Antonio and I refuse to go to any other Luby's but this one. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The staff is always friendly and will always acknowledge you never once walking past without checking up on you and your guests at your table.
