3/20/2026: As I have never been to any other Miller's Cafe sites before, I am hoping this one does not speak for all the others. Maybe the hospital version is not a true Miller's. Poppy seed bun - no thanks (sesame seed is SO much better - why poppy seed??!), leaf lettuce - no thanks, well done meat - no thanks, no sweet tea?? - that's a biggy! The onion rings were the best part of the meal. Not too thick, not too thin, but more on the thinner side than the thick side - yes, please! The space is very small, so the tables are very close to each other. They bring your food to you, so that was a nice touch. The Americana on the walls is cute and fun to look at while eating. I didn't catch the amount because my stepmom paid for our lunch. I guarantee it was more than it should have been. We were waiting for my dad's surgery to be complete, so we had time to walk to the cafe from the Walter Tower. It's a twist and turn long walk. Methodist is MASSIVE! Towers, floors, long hallways, SHEESH! We went to the cafeteria first, which was much closer, but I wanted to try Miller's. I should have stayed at the cafeteria. They have Asia food, sandwiches, burgers, and more. I guarantee it would have been better and probably less expensive. The good thing is we got our steps in before and after eating. read more

I currently work at MD Anderson, but in my younger days, Methodist Hospital was my first big boy employer. One thing about that hospital that I miss is their variety of food options other than the hospital cafeteria. Miller's Cafe is located on the 1st floor of the Scurlock Towers. If you have a doctor's appointment, you are likely going to be in this tower. You can smell the wonderful aromas from the second floor even. I would treat myself to a meal here especially on the weekends when it was mainly an employee eating spot. On the weekdays, you will for sure run into a lunch and dinner rush. The house are limited to 8 hours on the weekdays and 5 hours on Saturday. You're not getting a burger from here on Sunday. I've been coming here for years and customer service is hit or miss depending on how busy it is. Odds are you either work at the hospital or are a patient at Methodist so you are already park. They do have other locations if you must have it otherwise. If you are looking for a quality, basic burger, Miller's is a good option. Don't get me wrong, they have options here, alot actually. It's just that it's slight variations from a regular hamburger. My go to is a regular bacon cheeseburger. It's a substantial burger as a single and they don't skimp on the bacon. It's topped with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo and mustard. It's all piled high on a poppy seed bun. Basic, but delicious. Reminds me of a homecooked burger. I like some of the fancy burgers you can get elsewhere too, but sometimes I want basic. Besides burgers, they have sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, chicken tenders and chili. The sides of regular fries and sweet potato fries are delicious, but their onion rings are outstanding, and I'm not even an onion ring guy. After all these years, I still like to take a nice stroll through the medical center and visit Miller's from time to time to get my old fashioned burger fix. I will be back. read more

The food is always wonderful. The cost is affordable and the establishment is clean with and burger joint atmosphere.

No joke that this place is exactly the same for the past 20 or so years. They serve American food.... big fat burgers, frito pies, chicken strips, etc, all the food you shouldn't eat but will anyways. They mostly serve medical staff, patients and visitors to the hospital system in the Medical Center. Its not somewhere you are going to typically come if you aren't already in the med center. I know about the place, its a bit hidden inside the scurlock tower along the light rail line, 1st floor behind the elevators. I came from Hermann Park to check it out and was suprised its still here and looks exactly the same inside and out. The place does close early-ish, around 5pm I think. read more

I came here months back bc this used to be one of my favorite burger places before 2015. However, my last togo order consisting of a Cheeseburger with Onion Rings was pretty much awful. The onion rings were crunchy, fresh and tasty, but the burger patty was very under-seasoned and just not good quality. Super convenient lunch spot as it's in the hospital I work in! We've come here multiple times and I have always enjoyed their food! It's fresh and made to order. They get super busy at lunch rush -but they do take phone orders for faster pick up. Super affordable for what you get. Came today in the medical center for lunch very disappointed the Pattie's were paper thin frozen not thick and fresh/ homemade as I remember and prices are higher. We came to this restaurant after a family member had finished tests at the Methodist hospital. The reviews looked good on the Yelp site so we stopped by around 4:45, after noticing on their website they were open until 6 but their sign on the door showed they closed at 5! When we showed up at 4:45pm they were happy to serve us and said don't worry that they would be there for awhile as they needed to clean up anyway. I got the double burger with bacon and onion rings and I must say that was a delicious burger and the onion rings tasted homemade! read more

I was excited to give this place a try after hearing so much about it, but in the end it wasn't anything special. It was a decent burger and onion rings, but for the price I wasn't wowed. It may be because of the rent at Scurlock Tower in the Medical Center, but the food is very pricey for what you get. My black bean burger with cheese, fries, and a drink came out to $14 with tax included. Ouch. Twice the cost of what I can get around the medical center, but this was more tasty. Service is at the counter, and the burgers are made to order so it will take about 10-15 minutes to get your food. My black bean burger was tasty although I was confused that the cheddar I asked for came in shredded form. It blended with the vegetables better so I didn't mind. Fries tasted standard and the portion was small for $2.75. The restaurant had a steady line throughout lunch, but this is probably the only time I'll visit. read more

So the Med center is lacking good food. Sure it's edible and it won't kill you. But having real good food you can walk to is hard here. Millers is not the exception. Whenever a place claims to have the "worlds best" anything, it's going to be mediocre at best. So I saw a "worlds best turkey burger" so why the hell not. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't good either. The onion rings were okay. No complaints there, and I had a pop. They use a seeded bun, which might upset some purists out there. But it was a good bun. Veggies were crisp and fresh, so that was nice. It wasn't that busy during lunch, which was a relief. And I cannot comment on the real burgers or chicken breast sandwiches. So maybe they're better? Who knows. All I know is I wish a non chain restaurant would open up in the Med center that was good. read more

They should rename it bread burger also the philly burger is just mash up burger meat not real sirloin. THEY HAVE THE BEST BLACK BEAN BURGER EVER!! I come here during lunch sometimes since I work in the Med Center and their food is delicious. The food comes out on time and the cashiers are friendly and efficient when taking orders. My burger was 100% vegan (depending if you add cheese or not), so there are options if you prefer not to eat red meat or chicken. The burgers are also a decent size and will make you feel full. I think this place can get a bit pricey but I think it's worth the amount you pay because the burgers are of high quality taste. Their sides are limited, however, and have either fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. All in all I highly recommend trying this place out if you are ever in the Med Center! read more

Tip: you can call ahead and pickup your order without waiting in line. A place you wouldn't complain about going to but don't really crave either. If you aren't working in the med center or visiting it doesn't warrant a special trip. A bunch of options have recently opened in the area so there are a lot of places to eat, but if you are craving a budget burger Miller's isn't a bad option. If you want a really great, juicy and greasy burger and you're in the med center look no further cuz Miller's fits the bill. The burgers are really good, and my fave is the turkey burger. They have really awesome sweet potato fries, too. If you work in the area, make sure to call your order in because getting down here and ordering can be chaotic - there is usually a REALLY long line just to get to the counter to order plus the minimum 10 min wait for your order (totally worth it though) OMG, they have a BLT that I swear has like a pound of bacon on it and served on a massive hamburger bun (good thing too or it'd fall apart on regular toast). They can be a touch pricey, but I promise it is SOOOOOO worth it....made fresh and thick, juicy patties. read more

2.75 Stars. Only have eaten here a hand full of times in the past couple of years. Some of my coworkers look forward to eating here, I guess because its "something different" than the normal cafeteria food. I've had the Clucker sandwich but my chicken was dry and underwhelming. The other times I have ordered the chicken tenders and they are HUGE! Can definitely shared or made into 2 meals. I think I made a big mistake. Because I came here and ordered the "cluck" aka chicken breast sandwhich, which was borderline unedible. I drenched it in ketchup to help make it less dry. The bun was stale. Not a fan. Sweet potatoes fries were really good. I would come back for those. I also tried the bacon burger. I was not really impressed. I don't get what all the fuss is about. Miller's is another OK restaurant in the Medical Center. I usually get the cheeseburger when I go, although I've tried the spicy bean burger and it's decent as well. The line tends to be pretty reasonable, although it can be quite tricky to find a seat during peak lunch hours. Three words: Better than Cliff's. Burgers are tasty. You can actually smell them on Fannin street during lunch rush. When I walk in there, I feel so rushed when I get in there because none of their menu items have a descriptor. What is on the Blah De Blah Blah? ...
