I visited LT9 mainly for their Hainanese chicken rice. I arrived past 7 pm, and there was a sign stating that the kitchen closes at 7:30 pm. There was no one behind the counter. The restaurant only offers a touchscreen self-order kiosk. I guess this is a cashless business. At first I was struggling with placing my order, but I got it all figured out. The Hainanese chicken rice costs $12.99 plus tax. The lunch special price is a little cheaper. My food was hand-delivered to my tiny table. The woman then quickly disappeared into the backroom. I came to realize that I didn't get any chicken broth. Oh well... The chicken rice dish came with 2 slices of cucumbers and 2 small things of sauces. One is sweetened soy sauce, and the other one is ginger scallions sauce. The ginger sauce is rather bland, not enough gingery punch. The chicken is boneless, really tender, and tasty. Many Hainanese chicken places serve bone-in chicken. The boneless version is actually very nice and refreshing. The rice tastes good too. I finished my food rather quickly since it's a small serving. I walked out with a strawberry matcha drink in my hand, but I was still feeling hungry. When I got home, I made mie goreng for myself. The food is pretty good, however small serving. For an extra $2-3, I could've gotten a more satisfying dinner some place else. Thank goodness parking cost only a dollar, otherwise I could've gotten really annoyed. I parked about two blocks south in a parking structure. It's a dollar for the first two hours, $2 for an additional hour. There is street parking on Raymond (if you can find a spot), but you would still have to pay or risk getting a parking ticket (if your meter expires). LT9 is a fast food restaurant with limited seats. The interior decor feels a bit cold to me. I may return to this eatery in the future, only when I have to run errands in Old Town Pasadena.
Great lunch deal where you get a set meal and a tea drink. My favorite food item here is the Hainan Chicken Rice, and it seems to be a crowd favorite. The chicken portion is generous, yet silky and the rice is really nice cooked in the chicken broth. The soup is very soothing too. I was able to share this with another and enjoyed it. For $9.99 lunch, this is incredible!! The milk teas and seasonal drinks are also solid! Location is tucked on a corner with some street parking but closeby paid parking structures as well.
Saw an Ads for this place for a Hainan chicken, so had to go and try it. First glance, this place look like just any ordinary bubble tea place but with food. Mainly Hainan chicken rice, traditional or spicy chicken plate. The chicken was good. Chicken was tendered and not dry. The ginger and the light soy sauce were good. Compliments the dish very well. The ordering system here needs a lot of help. About the place, order through the kiosk and they only have one and if there is special, it doesn't reflect on the kiosk ordering system plus took one of the customer about 10 min to choose and select his orders while there was a line waiting. At the time, there was two people working behind the counter and it seemed that service is not what they are there for. Also, the restroom is out of order and paid parking only, either off street or parking garages.
I came around 3 pm on Tuesday and noticed the store was fairly empty. Service:3/5 I waited around for 5 minutes at the counter, and had to ring the bell twice before I was helped. It seemed like there was only one person working the whole shop. Parking 1/5: Parking can be pretty difficult to find. Theres metered street parking around. Ordered: I ordered Hainan chicken for takeout 3/5: the chicken was nice and juicy but the dish did not take like Hainan chicken imo. They drizzled a teriyaki/sweet sauce over the chicken which took away from the flavor and was really distracting. Other than the sauce, it was okay Overall I probably wouldn't come back because parking can be difficult and the food wasn't spectacular
Excellent Hainan chicken and sesame oil chicken noodles! The chicken is so tender and fragrant it just melts in your mouth. They use the same Hainan chicken for the sesame oil noodle soup, making it even more delicious. The broth is so thick and delicious that I actually added a cup of water to it, and it was still so flavorful and aromatic! It has a clean, full-bodied savoriness that is just right. Plus, this Taiwanese style noodle is deeply nourishing--perfect for gifting nursing moms postpartum or anyone feeling under the weather!
I went to this place for the first time with my friends. They have such a variety of drinks. They have matcha, hojicha, fruit teas, hand craft milk teas, coffees, sparkling, and more! I tried their matcha latte with boba! And I really liked it I got 50% sweetness and it was perfect I usually prefer my drinks to not be too sweet. I definitely want to order this again! I really like that you were able to order a second drink just for $2 more! My friend also enjoyed their coffee drinks. They also have entrees, side dishes, dim sum, They also have desserts too as well. During the summer they have Shaved iced. I haven't tried yet but I'll have to try next time! Parking was a bit hard to find but they may have some street parking available They had indoor seating available. There was no outdoor seating
After having lunch nearby, my partner and I wanted something refreshing to sip on. We found this spot and decided to check it out. There were so many drink options on the menu. Ultimately, we went with two of their top drinks. The Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea has a ruby black tea base. It tasted milky with a hint of honey. We added panna cotta, which added a silky texture and made the drink better. The Jasmine Blossoms Milk Tea uses triple-infused artisan jasmine green tea. This one was fragrant and refreshing. It paired well with the milky jelly topping. Other than beverages, they serve a bunch of various foods such as dumplings, noodle soup, chicken rice, desserts, and more. I have yet to try any of these though. My main complaint is that they were majorly understaffed. Only one person was working on a Saturday, so we had to wait over 30 minutes just for our 2 drinks. I would only come back if the wait time is more reasonable.
I had been eyeing this Taiwanese place for a while and finally got to visit and it didn't disappoint. We ordered Wonton Noodle Soup, Hainan Chicken Rice, and Taiwanese Noodle Soup. The portion was huge. Wonton was delicious. My kids really liked the noodles. Hainan chicken's sauce was really good too. Taiwanese noodle soup could be better if adding more veggies. The drinks were must have. We used too good to go app to order surprise bag aka you can't select what kind of drinks and also you cannot do adjustments or personalization like ice level. And we love all the drinks (three drinks per tgtg order)! I usually ordered my drinks without ice or else it would taste too water down for me but not this place! It was perfect for hot summer days! Cons. Street metered parking only.
At street corner in front of Metro bus stop. There's a couple of street meter parking a few steps away ($0.25 for 12 minutes) or there's higher paid parking garage right next door to this shop. Kiosk self-ordering. 5 Star. Great pricing to drink portion. Taste is decent, not overly sweet on regular non-customized request. I like the convenience of how they offer additional toppings and food items in addition to the drinks. 1 Star. Customer service. No employee in sight while Placing a kiosk order and waited around for 14 minutes thinking my order is being prepared in the back kitchen. After waiting excessively long, i rang the bell on the desk to get attention when a lady comes out without any greeting. She tells me she didn't see the order in the system. In the meantime another customer came in waiting for his to-go order pick up and she ignored me to help that customer first to prepare his order, without first checking the system to address my concern, telling me it'll take 5 more minutes to prepare my order. In the meantime I had to add more money to my meter parking since my time limit already expired. Customer service is severely lacking. Took 22 minutes to pick up my to-go order when it should have taken only 5 minutes to prepare.
This place always has great food and has been highly rated. The drinks are great, and it's my mom's favorite. The drinks are freshly made with top ingredients. If you want to buy the tea leaves yourself, they have them. If you check out great places to eat in Pasadena, you'll find this place.
So they have $9.99 combo lunch special for hainan chicken rice and comes w a drink. How can I not give this place a try? I liked that the chicken was all dark meat, disliked the rice (too much water and it's like eating sticky rice) and would've liked if they had the red chili kind of sauce. Iykyk. The drinks were okay, you get to choose from basic teas sweet or unsweetened. I ordered a sunset strawberry drink too. I wasn't a fan of it. I wasn't sure but there's like bits and pieces of oats? I would've preferred pieces of strawberries instead. And it's expensive for a drink $8.50!! Maybe I should've stuck w a seasonal drink. Love this area but pretty rough finding parking. LT9 Tea Blends I'm shocked that a boba shop sells full-on meals. You could truly stay here for hours since they have drinks, snacks, and food plus tables for working or talking with friends. I ordered the Espresso Ceylon Latte which balanced out the flavors of the coffee and tea very well but it wasn't my personal cup of tea. I feel like they're more enjoyable separately. However, I did try the seasonal Cali Sunshine Juice which was pure watermelon juice and delicious if you want a sweet drink. For my meal, I got the Hainan chicken which was good considering it's from a boba shop but not the best I've had. It was a generous portion though and actually lasted me two meals. As for dessert, I kept getting a waft of the Taiwanese-style egg waffle so that was calling my name. It was served fresh from the machine and super fluffy with a custardy flavor. It came with condensed milk but I enjoyed it on its own. My family also loved the creme brulee croffle and I know that because it was gone within minutes. Overall, LT9 specializes in tea so I would gravitate towards those drinks next time instead. The name LT9 comes from L-theanine which is a naturally-occurring amino acid known for its calming effects. They have solid food options but I would have to say the dessert shines brighter in the food category. read more
We came here for a second time with Too Good to Go, and we love it! We aren't always in the area but it's definitely worth it when we stop by. They have an assortment of drinks and unique toppings that other shops don't have. They also have a spacious interior with lots of lounging/sitting options, which make for a great work spot if you're looking for a chill environment. read more

Pickup was so convenient and the hainan chicken rice was very fresh. When we opened the box, it had a nice wave of steam coming up. The texture of the chicken is soft and plump and the drinks hit the spot. This is a local gem we'll come back to! read more

I've been here a couple times and they've always served me well. Drinks are pretty tasty. I'm seeing reviews about the staff being slow but I've never had any issues. They're really nice and the drinks always come out pretty fast. LT9 is such a gem! read more
Do I recommend this business? - MAYBE 1st timer here! (raise hand) drove 8 miles to taste their Hainan chicken. We tried the combo Hainan, includes- HAINAN chicken bowl with rice, soup, cucumber salad, tea drink (if it's not combo then no drink and salad). The Combo price is not bad for the price, and Chicken tastes good the proportion is enough to get full, it's actually a lot. We also wanted chicken feet but they do not have it by that time so we changed to chicken wings - eh, nothing special, I also did not taste anything special about the cucumber salad. The service - 3 tables were already occupied when we came (about 1pm-ish) and then we came, so GLAD we came before the others because after that ... it took them too long.. we waited a long time and felt bad because there are still otherssss waiting and cannot imagine how many more minutes they're going to wait the fact that our order came so slow and we were there first. I felt bad for the staff who I feel overworked but is still very nice and charming. Waiting long I think is a good sign that they don't just microwave our food but the number of staff I think could be better. The place is clean, tables to share. There is a paid parking beside them - $5 first 30 mins, $10 max, or you can use the meter if there is one. Restroom is available for customers. Will I come back? - yes, I might have a bad experience on the waiting time part but the food taste good. I suggest to not come on a peak time. read more

Came here for $9.99 Hainan Chicken but left with $12.99. Apparently $9.99 is a weekday lunch special between 11am to 3:30pm! Despite the slight disappointment in pricing, I would say $12.99 is very worth the money for this meal. This place mainly does boba and tea drinks but their entrees are no slouch. The Hainan chicken had plentiful of meat considering its pricing and the rice was flavorful and delicious. The sauce that you can dip the chicken into added even more flavor. I would happily come back here again for their chicken and maybe even a drink next time. You can add a salad, soup, and a basic tea for $4-$6, I don't recall the actual pricing. My friend did it and I was able to try the soup and it was delicious!! Kitchen closes at 8pm but I noticed they closed it early today around 7:45pm so be prepared to come a bit earlier. read more

I've been here a few times for both drinks and food, and while the drinks are alright, the food is a no for me. I tried the Hainan chicken and the "teriyaki" chicken, and honestly, neither hit the mark. The Hainan chicken was cooked okay, but the rice was pretty bad--dry, hard and flavorless, and they gave a ton of it. The teriyaki chicken? Barely any chicken, mostly rice. Granted, I got it from the "Too Good To Go" app, so maybe that played a part, but still. Their drinks are decent, but I wasn't a fan of the agar boba when I asked for boba last time. If I ever come back, I'd probably just stick to the drinks. read more
I came into LT9 today for some boba through the Too Good To Go app. The deal includes 3 drinks for $6.99, which is such a great value! I love that it lets me try new places without much risk, so I was really excited to check it out. The process was super easy once I came in. My server, Hannah, was so sweet and super helpful when I arrived. I got an Earl Grey, a Mango, and another drink (forgot the name!) -- all of them were 10/10. The service was fast, the drinks were made fresh, and overall I loved the experience. Definitely would come back! read more

The shop itself and the staff are very nice. A small thing to note is that the round tables by the windows have wheels on the bottom that sometimes cause the table to shift unnecessarily. I probably wouldn't come back for the food. The Taiwanese noodle soup was an amalgamation of things including a single karaage and a single shrimp tempura both of which were submerged in the broth and became soggy and almost unrecognizable. The hainan chicken rice was okay but didn't have the strong flavor that I was craving. The dumplings were dumplings. I hope to come back and give their drinks/desserts a try. read more

A friend recommended this place after seeing their chicken and rice deal which is $13, if you don't have any upgrades. I went for single portion of chicken with rice and upgraded for a drink for an additional $5-7 depending on what option you choose. There's also other options to get more chicken, more rice/sides and desserts which is nice depending on your needs. Overall the food was good for the price. It was very filling! Rice and chicken had nice flavor. The drink was just your average matcha latte. The ordering is through a kiosk on the side which was alittle confusing to use if you forget to put in your drink order in the comments. The food is picked up when it's ready on the other side of the counter. Since it was busy it did take a while before the order came out so be prepared for that when you come. Inside had bar table seating along the window and a few smaller tables in the middle when you walk in. The place isn't too big but when it's busy it can be difficult to find a seat. I don't believe this place has parking since it's in old town Pasadena. We had to park a few blocks away on the street. read more
Great service! Very friendly. Service is a bit slow, but there's always only one front desk person serving food and drinks, so understandable that service is a bit slow. Very casual and open ambiance. I love the natural light this place gets and the subtle green decor. There are 3 small tables, 1 bar table, one long table, and one couch. I saw one person doing some work, so might be okay to work here but I did not see any outlets. Music isn't very loud and pretty chill so might be okay to work. Drinks are great and they have a huge variety of toppings. They also have a lunch special of Hainan chicken and soup for $10! What a great deal! read more

I had this placed bookmarked and thought I'd give it a try. Holy, it was quite literally the worse dish I've had in Pasadena and SGV area To start off, the price is super affordable $13.99 for hainan chicken. However, upon opening and eating it, I realized the chicken was just pure chicken breast. No skin on it. As for the rice, it wasn't even flavored chicken rice. It was just white rice and soy sauce, rice was a little hard (mentioned a lot in the reviews). I'm not sure if it is dye or some sort of sauce that they use, but the chicken breast is awfully yellow. The yellow was so deceiving because I thought it was chicken skin . Even if it was a sauce, the dish overall was just bland. If you're looking for traditional Hainan Chicken rice, this place is definetly not the spot. You're better off at the other 626 restaurants for the same price. I was so disappointed because the yelp photos looked pretty good. Also when going in, it was a self-service kiosk, which is not a problem, but throughout my wait for my food not a single person was in the front. The place is cute, but truly not the spot to come for hainan chicken or their mala chicken. You can tell this establishment doesn't really put much effort in the quality of food and ingredients, when they only go for chicken breast and soy sauce rice. This tea bar is not located on the major street in old town Pasadena,but it can definitely get crowded sometimes. The ordering system is self service. Most of the time the bar does not have a helper presenting unless you ring the bell! read more

I've been getting the too good to go special here for a while now. 3 drinks, oolong milk tea, Jasmine green tea, and wintermelon tea are the typical bases and they give you whatever toppings are available. All for 6.99. I really like the idea because it means every hour they have fresh made toppings. I tried their food for the first time and got 2x Hainan chicken. The chicken was pretty solid but the rice was not cooked! I'd come back to give it another shot though. Service is very friendly but sometimes it takes a while. They are Taiwanese owned and use real tea leaf here. read more

I really enjoyed the Hainan chicken meal here. It's probably the most tender and juicy Hainan I have had in the SGV. For me this is probably one of the best Hainan chicken in the 626. Green tea watermelon was refreshing. Price is a little steeper than its competitors but they deliver in flavor and juiciness. read more
The drinks are good (and ordered through a kiosk) but I recently found out their food was delicious too! The hainan chicken was really stellar and came in handy when I was too lazy to cook dinner for the night. Parking is a bit complicated - most of the parking is paid street parking, or paid parking structures. Some parking structures are more expensive than others. read more
