My rating is more for the customer service department rather than the entire store, but whatever. I'm grateful that Lowe's offers a military discount, but their in store procedure to honor it is SO godd*mn aggravating that I didn't wanna bother coming back. You see, my husband has already registered TWICE online for the discount. I don't know if it's Lowe's in general or if it's this particular location, but it's SUCH a hassle to get it honored!! Every single time, the system doesn't find us. Every single time, I have to see Customer Service. I have my Military ID *in my hand* and they can't give me the discount. Why? I seriously don't know why they don't have the scan code on the monitors like other companies I will get a half assed shrug, a slight shuffle then mumbled where to go. Seriously? You just scanned ALLLLLLLL of my stuff, slowly pressed the buttons on the register while looking at your text messages, pop your gum and can't scan a simple bar code? Cue going to the customer service counter for 20 more minutes of BS clown time, "I don't knows", shoulder shrugs and sighs. Then I was registered AGAIN, had to give my California ID as well as military ID ...SIX TIMES...to verify my information because the dude at the register wasn't on his game. Not even sure if he was mentally checked out at the time, to be honest, but it didn't help. By the time I left, I'm so torqued that I can't even enjoy the new facility or the AMAZING experience I had with the other employees who actually did their job. I hope someone at Lowe's reads these reviews so something can be done to improve this store. Please train your employees. None of them know anything about the products they sell. Even the managers of certain sections have to read labels to answer some basic questions. Do not have a mathematically challenged employee selling carpet! Math is an essential part of ordering flooring. They really should know that length times width equals square feet. Good thing I know my math since she relied on me for it. There's no such thing as "close"when it comes to matching paint. Put it up on a wall and minute differences are apparent. So we have painted our ceiling 4 times now due to errors made by the Lowe's employees. I've never seen the store all that busy, but always lots of employees wandering around, and super slow service. I have met 2 employees who stand out. Richard who has the dog treats at the exit door, and a woman in outside garden who not only knows her plants, but knew about a paint sale that even the employees in the paint department didn't know! Lowe's is a clean store with a better selection than Home Depot, but at least Home Depot trains the people who work there! read more

Trista WAS EXCELLENT! My girlfriend and I had the worst customer experience at self checkout with an employee who was in training and just so rude and disrespectful towards the both of us. After the situation we asked him his name and he refused to give it to us, so we asked for a manager and found Trista. Normally we aren't the ones to complain about employees but this experience was one of the worst we've ever had. Trista was so accommodating and reassuring about the situation and handled it with the upmost professionalism with us. She was so kind and went out of her way to make sure that we left feeling cared for. read more

We had our kitchen remodeled last winter 2019 and finished around March 2020. We bought some beautiful tile flooring from our local lowes. Eventually covid hit among other personal events and we had completely forgotten to buy extra tile as backup. November came around and we thought we better get some tile before they discontinue it. So I went down to our local store (union city) only to find out that they really did discontinued the tile. The employees checked the system and saw that the only store that may have them was in salinas. So I called on Wednesday and asked to hold the tiles until Sunday. Saturday came and I decided to call up the store again just to make sure they really had it. I was able to speak with a worker named Pedro and after I told him that I was coming from union city he seemed really concerned and took the time which wasn't easy to find the tiles. Apparently they were put back on the shelf and luckily no one else got it. He gave me step by step directions on what to do when I got to the store. He even called me to tell me the exact holding spot that they would keep it and I was able to walk in and get my tiles very easily. I regret not looking for Pedro when I got to the store so I could thank him personally for taking the time to find those last 2 boxes and to hold them for me. His efforts really meant a lot. I am reviewing special orders and delivery only. I ordered a dishwasher from Lowes. They said it would take about a month to get it, which was fine. I got an automated call saying the dishwasher would be delivered the next day between 7:30 and 11:30 am. It tried to call the delivery number to reschedule, but couldn't get an answer on the phone. I finally did get ahold of someone in another department, but they were unable to help me. So I changed my plans for the morning and waited for it to arrive. It didn't. I called Lowes again to find out what happened. This time I connected with the appliance department. They said I should never have gotten a call because the dishwasher wasn't even at the store yet. read more

Thought I would try the new Lowes here in Salinas. I have been there 3 times now. The first two times went ok because I new exactly what I wanted and was able to find it on myself. The people hired to help do no know their stuff. You need to do research before you go because they don't know! This 3rd time was a terrible disappointment. I shall probably go back to Home Depot. First: Wanted a saw I could use to cut the tops off buckets. Found a possibility, but didn't see replacement blades for it, Nice fellow came up to ask how he could help. 1) It was his first day in the tool department and didn't know anything about saw blades. He went for help. 2) 2nd fellow doesn't know either. Starts reading all the packages. Can't find something that says plastic, so he tries to sell me a drywall saw. Says drywall. Has huge teeth. Argues with me when I pointed out that it wasn't what I was looking for. Took the saw just to make it stop. Then I read every package until I found one that said plastic. 3) They do not carry replacement blades for the Kobalt saws they sell, which if they did, would have made the whole thing faster. Second: Wanted Schedule 40 ¾" plastic pipe. The display with tags labeled as Schedule 40 up high, so I needed help to get it down. Who keeps pipe where people can't reach it? 1) It turned out there was another display further down which the helper I called pointed out. I asked it if was Schedule 40 and he told me yes it was. 2) I asked if it was the same as on the other display that I had found first and he said he didn't think so. He didn't want to check. 3) I also needed 1/2" Schedule 40, which he could only find in the first display. Results: 1) The pipe in the lower display and in the higher display were the same pipe. 2) Neither display was Schedule 40! 3) NOW I HAVE TO PACK IT ALL BACK UP, TIE IT TO MY TRUCK, AND RETURN IT. I don't' even know if they even really have Schedule 40, so I will probably have to make a separate trip over to Home Depot to get what I want. The final straw: There is NO obvious way to contact them online on their site to give feedback. I want to send email but they only allow social media contacts, and I don't have accounts with any of those options. There is no simple feedback form that I can find. read more

The worst customer service ever! In fact, I'd say the worst of any store I've ever been to! Where do I start...they don't answer their phones, you can't find anyone to help you in kitchens, their computers always seem to have "glitches," you wait at customer service for more than an hour, the manager promises to get back to you and doesn't, you leave a message for someone who doesn't return your call....I could go on. We made the mistake of ordering counters and the only competent person involved was the guy who is building the counters, and he doesn't even work for Lowe's! Lowes does NOT stand by their products that they sell. Customer service does not exist at Lowes. Bought a lawnmower 4 months ago. Spent over 500.00 for it. It broke. The blade just busted off. It wasn't used much and the lawn wasn't very big. Basically, Lowe's response was "since we did not buy an extended Warranty, we could go pound salt"!!!! Seriously? The lawn mower is barely 4 months old. This is B.S. Lowe's should stand by the products they sell. Especially when something breaks after it's barely been used!! I ordered items online for delivery. Originally they were scheduled to be delivered Saturday. On Friday I received notification they would be delivered Monday. On Sunday received confirmation they would be delivered Monday between 1-5. I took off work to be home for the delivery. At 1 pm I received a call that they would not be able to deliver until Thursday. I confirmed with store for Thursday delivery. On Thursday I took off for delivery. Delivery never came. I called store and they stated I had not confirmed delivery and it was not scheduled. Could not deliver when stated and offered a third delivery date which I would have to miss another day of work. Blamed third party delivery company even though I had communicated with them directly on multiple occasions. Horrible customer service. Will never buy anything from them again. read more

If I could rate them no stars I would. This was the worst experience in a home improvement store ever. We did a buy online pick up in store. Their system is terrible!!! Don't do it, save your time and money and go somewhere else. They pull your order but leave it on a cart on the sales floor. So your lucky if they still have it when you go to pick up in a couple days. But that's not all you have to wait an hour while they go get your cart.. but the staff will make you sign for it before you know of you have it all. So it take 15/20 minutes before you can return it. Because the system doesn't talk to each other. Seriously I could have gone back picked out my items and payed for them at self check out in half the time. The whole reason was to secure my purchase. Ya that's not the case at all. Horrible service, ordered a stove on thanksgiving Thursday and was given a delivery date. Shortly after I received a email of cancellation which is no problem because they gave me ample notice. They re scheduled the delivery to the 11th of December and I let my tenants know to be there that day. I get a text message that day that they never showed up, no call, no email. I called the local Lowe's and they apologized( I let them know I just want to be given a day and it be delivered that day and the guy assured me he would call and make sure the next one is sent) they rescheduled for the 16th today and guess what no delivery no call and no email again that's the 4th deliver date missed horrible horrible service would not recommend to anybody read more

Well I couldn't find the hinge I was looking for asked a cashier, that was just standing there, she said she can't leave her post...to go to customer service...where Barker was at, he sent me to the wrong isle and pages someone to go there, I waited and no one showed up! We ordered a shower enclosure with a door and Lowe's sent out the installer (JK Shower Doors of Valley Springs) to measure. Jack is an excellent craftsman and gave us a lot of information and options. He proceeded to write down all of our choices on the door and called us the next day to tell us he had faxed the drawing and bill of materials to the store. We needed to visit the store to finalize the order. We went to the store and spoke with Pedro in the custom plumbing dept. He could not find the drawing and "Melissa" in installs was gone for the day. Wasted trip. Pedro called the next day and said they had found the spec sheet. Another trip to Lowe's. Pedro called up a graphical computer program with which he obviously was unfamiliar. After about 30 minutes all of us were confused. Lucky for us, the Holcum shower door manufacturer's rep showed up. He completely redid the order. Lowe's needs to train their employees much more comprehensively . . . the manufacturer's rep knew the program inside and out and acknowledged there were software bugs and glitches in it. He was still able to get the order placed. I shudder to think what would have happened if he had not shown up. read more

Worst experience ever. I placed an order online at 10 am and signed up for text alerts and email alerts. I guess an hour after I placed the order they canceled my order because they said they were out of stock and I never got any type of email or text alert. I waited til 6:30 and then gave them a call and they said they canceled my order because they were out of stock. Then someone else said they found it and if. I wanted to place the order again I can go into the store or do it online. Now I had used a gift card for my purchase and they told me it was going to go back to my card. So again I tried to do the purchase with my gift card and it said I have a 0 balance. I called Lowes again and they didn't answer. I called a 3rd time got a hold of a customer service team member. I explained my situation and he said he didn't know and said he would get a manager and if it was okay that I wait for the manager. Was waiting for 15 minutes and he came back and was like it is going to be a while is it okay if I get your number and have them call you back. I was like sure. The day came and went and I never received a call. This is the worst service ever provided. After I use this gift card that was given to me it will be the last time I step in to this store. We went into this store to buy an area rug, we selected one we liked then we had to ask someone for help to find the rug, and even see if they had it in stock. We found a young girl walking by us, and we asked her to scan it and tell us if they even had it in stock. She did that, said they had three in stock, but she didn't know how to find out which one is which, she said she would find us some help, and left. My husband started moving the rugs around looking for the one we wanted, mind you these area rugs are 8' x10', and very heavy. I went to go get a cart, I walked up to the customer service counter, and there were three employees chatting, I asked if we could get some help in the rug area, (as I was worried about my 70 year old husband moving all these rugs by himself) I was told there should be someone over there, I told them there wasn't anyone to help us, and we had a girl, but she disappeared. I walked out the front door to get a cart to put the rug on, and there weren't any big carts out there, so again I asked them at customer service where I could get a cart to put the rug on, I was told to go to the lumber department, there might be one there. That's when I asked for the employees name ROBERT, he didn't give me ANY help at all. So as I'm leaving customer service to walk back to try and get a cart, here comes the girl that just deserted us in the first place, this place is a joke! read more

Went to Lowe's and was assisted almost immediately by a very knowledgeable employee. He provided as much information as could reasonably be provided. We then went to that "other" place and waited and waited and waited for someone to assist us. There were multiple employees that were not knowledgeable that said they would get us someone who could help us. After a good 1/2 hour of standing there waiting we left. Lowe's gets out business. I am so frustrated with the poor customer service of Lowe's. On May 26, I ordered two 11' Market Umbrellas and the website said they would be delivered locally (Carmel Valley ) on May 29. I started checking my order status on May 29 and it simply said "Processing." I have checked each day and it is now June 4 and it finally says "Order Received" ....no delivery information at all. I called the toll-free customer (no) service line and after holding 50 minutes, I finally got a person. I told her my issue and gave her my order number and she said, "I will check on it, but due to Covid...." ....CLICK, the phone went dead. I am so sick and tired of everything being blames on Covid. Don't put a delivery date if you can't deliver. The website should just say, "We have no idea when it will be delivered, so if you want to order, go ahead." I have found this happening a lot lately where a specific ship or delivery date is given and then once you order that goes right out the window. I think they know these dates are never going to happen, but just list them falsely so that people will order. Just tell the truth. Now, the really frustrating thing is that there is no way to cancel the order online. read more

Ordered a dishwasher a week ago was delivered today asked the delivery guy if we could open it and he said they weren't allowed to do that. Ok, I opened it after they left and the whole top of the dishwasher was smashed in. Tried calling Lowe's got hung up on 3 times. Finally talked to a person and they said I needed to bring it back to them. That was the whole reason I ordered on line so I wouldn't have to go to the store. I asked if I could talk to someone else they put me through to someone else, needless to say it will take 3 days for them to come pick up the damaged machine, the drivers just left an hour ago, don't know why they couldn't have just come back and it will take another 3 days for a new one to be delivered. This time I will make the drivers stay while I open the new one. I will never recommend this store to anyone horrible and I mean horrible customer service and quality control read more

Save yourself time and hassle, just go to Home Depot around the corner. This Lowes in Salinas just opened last winter and they don't know what they are doing. The staff is poorly trained, they lost my items, they flat out could not order about 15K worth of items we tried to order from the pro desk. I use the word pro desk very lightly. The prices are at least 10% higher than Home Depot, so forget their discounts. The selection is worse and if you need help or need to special order anything: Just forget it. Maybe in a few years they will get up to speed and hire knowledgeable people. Sorry, but those are the facts. read more

I usually love shopping online and then picking it up in store. Hassle free, right? Nope! I order a roll of 1" hardware mesh, 2 feet high by 25' long(Item #:492388), online where the specs were cleared stated. I drive over to lowes the next day to pick up, admiring the shiny new facility(my first time there). I'm greeted by the customer service associate and am given the item that I supposedly ordered. BUT its 1/4" mesh and only 10' long. This is doubly wrong. He goes on to say that this is the item I ordered, the number matches, and even after seeing the online specs tried to explain to me that he was right, and somehow I must be mistaken(English is my native language, I can read the specs quite well). Eventually, after noticing I'm not likely to walk out with the wrong item, went to the garden section, and said, yes this is still the right item. This is not my first rodeo, I will not tolerate Bait and Switch tactics, or False Advertising. After finding the 1" mesh but only finding the 15 feet long, I find it is the same price as the 25 feet long, and ask to talk to the manager. The manager greets me from her desk chair fifteen feet away, and seems more bothered at being interrupted then concerned about my general happiness. Apparently they can only reprice an item if its the wrong price. But not if its two fifths Shorter then advertised? This is the worst experience I've had in retail, I expect better, and will not be returning even if prices are lower then advertised. They clearly are not concerned with customer happiness, or with being truthful. read more

I've never had a issue shopping here I'm a pretty regular customer and always receive pretty good customer service. I'm not one of those that goes around reviewing everything on yelp and that rants constantly to get attention. But today when I went in to this location in the customer service department/pickup I received everything but service. The guy that was working that department was either in a bad mood because he was working on Christmas Eve or was just a all around as*ho**. Felt like he just wanted to get rid of my wife and I, I was just there to exchange a brand new dryer that wouldn't dry anymore. He did the return but then said he couldn't do the exchange and that I needed to go to a register to but buy the item again. The guy at the register was confused and said he's never heard of that, once the purchase was done nobody told us where we should go to get the dryer or that they're bringing the dryer up to the front so we walk back over to customer service to receive horrible customer service again. We show grumpy that we purchased the dryer and he says what do you want me to do with that lol are you serious guy? ?? So I say can you call them and have them bring the dryer up or??? Theirs much more but I'll just leave it there, the guy needs some more training or something. read more
