On my way home from a recent family visit I decided I would stop and pick some items up that I knew I needed. Not wanting to do it closer to DC I pulled off here in Frederick. I had no idea that this was even here and would not have noticed if I hadn't stopped to get fuel at a business next door. Parking and what not was very easy. I was inside in no time and ran about the store looking for the items I needed. I had to pull up the app for a minute to see if and where the item was located. These big box hardware store are so cavernous that it is insane. What I needed wasn't a big item, in fact I was just here for hooks. I found them, after a search, and made my way to the registers. I opted for self checkout and no bag and just went out to my vehicle. I feel that these stores are starting to lean to self service overall. My wife and I just shopped at the Lowe's in Frederick and had a great experience. Alex, who works in the plumbing department, took exceptional care of us in selecting all the various items we needed for installing a new water heater. Alex even helped us through paying for the items and loading the water heater into our vehicle. He provided 5 star service and should be commended. read more

Not sure if you all know this, but Lowe's will have clearance items from time to time. At a certain point, the items get lowered to the point that they are dropped out of the system. What does this mean? Instead of selling a lower price, they toss the merchandise. Then they take the loss on their taxes and keep prices high for the standard consumer. The Assistant Manager Devon insisted that the corporate store policy was to trash these items. She refused to message the general manager and said these would be gone by morning. read more

Specific to installs. Do NOT pay Lowes for installation if on the DMV. The company's they use, ie Mega Plumbing are out to make a buck and don't care about the customer at all. While Lowe's is my 1st choice for purchases, their install services in the area are very poor. Check the reviews yourself, especially if Mega is involved. Another positive, Lowes did reimburse me when I refused to pay the installer $100 (for a $10 valve) in addition to what I already paid Lowes for the install. read more

NEVER USE LOWE'S INSTALLATION SERVICES! They were supposed to install a simple glass paned door. The installer forgot to come out the first time to measure. Then, when they did come out, they recommended a custom door (although we had already had someone out to measure who said the doorway was standard) at twice the price of the one we picked out. Then, the installer was late coming out to install it. Finally, when we looked at the door, all the panes on both sides were covered with a sticky film which was covered over in paint. The installer had already left before showing us the door. It turns out that once the door was installed (which they knew was defective), the warranty was transferred to us. Now we've waited weeks while they put in a warranty claim to the wrong vendor and keep trying to have the problem be ours. They will not replace the door or do anything to help. They are unconcerned with the problem and don't really care how long this has been outstanding. Do yourself a favor and never use them. read more

I was very disappointed in the service I received today. I placed an order online yesterday, 8/30, to pick up a smoker today, 8/31. I got the receipt with confirmation that it would be ready for pickup today, 8/31. Online, it stated there were 2 in the store. This morning, 8/31, I called the store to confirm when it would be ready for pick up as it needed to be assembled, and I asked for the free assembly. The person who answered the phone said it would not be ready for 7 to 10 days. I asked why since I ordered it for pickup today. She said it has to ship from the manufacturer so that it would take 7 to 10 days. I asked about the two sitting in the store; she answered that she did not know if they were spoken for. I was like, Ok, well, I asked for it to be ready today, so I will take one of the two there. She then said those two were taken. So she lied. I asked for a manager, and she said she was a manager, so I asked to talk to someone else. She put me on hold, and 10 MINUTES later, I hung up and called again to cancel the order. Lowes's customer service is the worst I have had in a long time. DO NOT SHOP THERE. Online, they tell you your order will be ready the next day, they get your money and then change the terms. I went to the store just to see if the two that online stated were there were actually there. And the two were sitting there for sale. No one bought them. She could have given me one of them there. So Lowes needs to rethink who they having manage their store, having a lazy lying manager is not good for your stores. Make sure you read all print and fully understand the confusing and poor grammar of the free installation section when ordering any appliance online. The delivery crew does not nor are they trained for any installations. Installations are not free. The delivery crew is a drop and run. Without going into personal issues my husband ended up having to install and hurt himself in the process. I went back to the store and new manager Scott was very attentive and did credit us for inconvenience. While I might buy some landscaping plants there, it will need to be a pretty cold day in hell before I ever purchase another appliance there. Lowe's corporate you need to rewrite your installation policy on your website and have a better online process for appliances. The second star is for Scott who tried to make it right. I shop here as my Lowes CC saves me an additional 5% but it is frustrating. The people in lawn and garden are OK but the balance of the associates actually go out of their way to avoid helping you. Many times I have been wandering the store looking for something and not ONCE has someone asked me if they could help me. It goes beyond indifference - it is complete avoidance/lazieness. You go a block away to the "other" DIY store and its the complete opposite - they not only ask you - they then take you to the right place. This place is horrible, employees are rude, rude and don't know what they are talking about. GO TO HOME DEPOT!!! Management stated that Lowes does not price match online prices. Their policy online says they do. They still claim they do not match online prices. I had to read the policy to them. I then asked to price match item for item I was told had to be the same brand so I found the same brand they then began to argue and say we still are not price matching because it does not have the same model number. The item online was the exact same item could not locate a item number online it was a $.44 difference in price per foot. They continued to say no I then found a roll of wire online 150 feet same brand name their roll was 250 feet which was cut in half used. The item number did not match because one roll was 250 vs 150 feet and it was the same brand. They still refused. We went round and round for about 20 minutes I began to get angry the sales person became angry he was shaking. I asked for another manager and asked him about it of course he's going to back up his employee all of this is over $.44 difference a foot for a wire that was 2.88 a foot. After about 30 minutes of going back and forth we realize the item is discontinued. There was a reduced sticker on top of the role that said was $.61 a foot now $.45 a foot. I technically should've gotten it for $.45 a foot but I was only trying to price match online $2.44 a foot which would've been only $.44 off. Every time I would do what the manager or associate said they would then change their story and make it more difficult they were very argumentative and did everything they could do to not accommodate me. Then when we began to leave they both looked at me with a big smile and both said have a wonderful day or have a nice day as a dig. What a bunch of ASSHOLES!!! Just saying for future anybody who is in need of supplies DO NOT go to Lowe's this locations management is absolutely horrible and rude just as well as the other associates and they do not care about customer service or the customers they will fight over a penny. Lowest prices my ass!! Lowe's can go to hell!!! I would not even star but I didn't have a choice in order to complete a rating. Went to Home Depot purchased the same wire original price $2.91 a foot gave it to me for $2.44 a foot looked at the website on my phone verified it was the same item and verify the price never asked any questions never argued even gave me an extra 2 feet when they cut it check out the receipt and the photos attached thank you HOME DEPOT!!! Spent total of $597. Okay with that because not one penny went to Lowe's. This was a start of a $40,000 project but Lowes went to argue over $.44 so my business will go elsewhere read more

I hate giving one star reviews, but this location is really customer unfriendly. My husband has been here multiple times recently and nobody ever is around to help. Okay, he's normally able to figure it out. We were recently in the store looking at appliances during a holiday weekend, when appliances were on sale. There was nobody in the appliance section and multiple employees walked right past us without even acknowledging us. Disappointed writing this review because I prefer Lowe's over Home Depot any day of the week, but after frequenting this particular store for over a year I am constantly left disappointed with the customer service here. Employees are regularly unhelpful, disinterested, or openly rude when assisting customers, and that's only when you can actually find an employee to help. They will also drag their feet or play dumb to avoid honoring any sale, promotion, or price match. I had to go through 5 different employees and explain their own system to them. Think it will be better to order online and pick up in store? Make sure to double check your cart before walking out. The incompetence of the staff apparently goes on behind the scenes as well. I've been patronizing this particular Lowe's since it was located at the current Panera Bread strip mall area on 355. There are still some employees that have been there for nearly 30+ years, which I find respectable. The store is generally well organized and staffed, with knowledgeable personnel. The layout is easier to understand than other HIW'S, especially because the aisles aren't clogged up with displays, which can be confusing and irritating. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - A NIGHTMARE! I was working in an important project for us, remodeling our Kitchen. Cabinets were supposed to be delivered by Friday and Saturday morning. I called Friday to confirm with the store, and they told everything was good and my cabinets were ready to be delivered Saturday morning. I received a call Saturday in the morning from the local Lowes store saying they couldn't find all my cabinets and they will "check later" and send them on Monday. I had people already at my house ready to install the cabinets. I talked with 2 different people from Lowes customer serving assuring all my cabinets were in the store and ready to be delivered to my house that day. Guess what, the truck came with half of my cabinets. I called the store and they told they found the rest of my cabinets "later" after the truck was gone, but they will send them on Monday. For real? I spent few thousand dollars in these cabinets, I hired a contractor to install them that Saturday, and their solution was only for me (and the contractors) to wait until Monday because THEY COULDN'T FIND MY CABINETS EARLIER THAT MORNING. The cabinets were all the time in the store, they just didn't look for them before the truck was gone. I called customer service again, they "apologize" and promised the cabinets will be delivered Sunday morning. I had to ask contractors to come back on Sunday and guess what? My cabinets were not delivered until Sunday afternoon, and no one at the store or customer service had any idea about timing or tracking in my delivery. Worst experience ever! I have to say that I had to make all the calls because I was promised that "someone" will contact me soon with a solution and until today, no one contacted me once. In top of that, I realized that Lowes charged me for delivery and Home Depot doesn't. Lesson learned! read more

The absolute worst experience as a home owner dealing with a major home improvement project has been with this Lowes in Frederick. We started the process in March to buy a front door for our home thinking install would be no later than late summer. Almost November still no door. After the door we chose was discontinued, measurements gone wrong, downgrading to a door we felt we had to settle with, numerous delivery dates come and go with us doing the leg work on the status of this rather costly home improvement project--- we will never shop this store again. While in the flooring department twice my wife asked "Mike" for help... both times he told her they didn't have what we were looking for and walked away... WORST STORE EVER ***AVOID AVOID AVOID** It takes some really horrible customer service for me to post on Yelp. They could not get a simple delivery of a washer and dryer right. Their delivery team XPO is not much better. First team says a 27" washer will fit. Second team says 27" dryer will not fit through the same doorway. Door trim is taken apart, both units still damaged. They did not give me my the liquid soap tray that is included with the washer so for now I can only use powder detergent until a replacement is sent to me via mail (7-10 business days). Management team is rude and deceitful, the assistant manager MAGGIE will LIE about honoring any discounts and will try to cheat you out of your hard earned money. Another assistant manager CHRIS is the same as talking to a brick wall. He will not co-operate nor budge on anything. They will not offer any compensation to you. Do not use them to get an appliance delivered! I had one to be scheduled and the "truck broke down." They never gave any indication that that is what happened. I was told to call the store, so I did. The woman was very unhelpful except to say that the truck broke down and wouldn't be delivering it today. She clearly did not care at all. I didn't receive any phone call or email telling me that it wouldn't arrive that day. Mind you the website tracker kept saying "there's a delay, your product should arrive shortly." I was told to call customer service, but by that time they were closed (no 24 hour line). I wasted a whole day waiting for them. Suffice it say say I will never use them again. This was my first time ever going to this location. I live in another town (where we have our own Lowe's), but had just finished lunch with a friend and decided to stop by. I initially wanted to purchase a small bag of rocks for top dressing soil of my potted plants. As I always do, I checked out the succulents and cacti in the nursery/garden center. I was immediately greeted by a sales specialist, Theresa P., and she started a conversation with me about the plants I was looking it. She pointed out that they've recently been drastically reduced in price due to change of season and having so many of them there. I did not intend to purchase any plants yesterday, but I bought 12! Of course, I also then needed to buy soil and pots for them all... so I did =) Theresa was SUPER helpful and so eager to assist. My cashier, Jackie, was also very personable and was really efficient in ringing up my plants and pots, and pointed out on the receipt the great price things were because of the multiple sales going on. I left feeling like a million bucks. Was very happy that Theresa P. gave me her card. I'll happily drive the 35 minutes it takes to get to that store in order to have that same type of service again. Terrible customer service. I was told at the store when buying my washing machine that the deliver people would un-hook and re-hook the new washer. When the delivery people arrived they told me I had to disconnect all the hoses because they were not told to do so on their instructions. Also told me they would not hook up the hoses and water drain. They said I could call service to see if they can come out to hook up the washer and I asked him wouId that be free and he said no. I called Lowes and the woman told me I had to buy new hoses then the delivery people would done the work. So they wanted me to buy $35.00 hoses to have the hook up done. My hoses are in good shape. She had an oh well attitude and did not seem to give a crap about me as a customer. I guess as long as they got their money screw the customer. They must really screw the older population who have no one to help them with this kind of stuff. DO NOT BUY APPLICANCES FROM LOWES unless you are going to do all the installation your self. read more

Most of the staff they hire are helpful enough, and the store is stocked with a variety of household hardware supplies. I can pretty much get whatever I need for the house for home improvement from metal screws, to razor blades, paint, wood, etc. Sometimes it is hard to find help when I'm looking and have found i get passed off to another person a lot so expect a bit of this if you have questions. I'll go here again when i need a new project. read more

I've been shopping at this Lowe's for years and have always had very good customer service here and found the products that I came to buy. I've rarely encountered a rude or ineffective associate. More times than not (and I'm sure a lot of you do too) I can shuttle between this store & the nearby Home Depot by cutting through the trailer park behind it, when gathering supplies & materials for a current project. Great location. We really like their garden center and I think they have a better trim and molding selection over HD. I also prefer the selection of electrical & wiring materials as well. We've bought some very nice lighting fixtures at this Lowes. Tool-wise -- about the same as Home Depot, and I am a fan of Rigid power tools that I can get at HD. I think some of Lowes' doors and hardware may be better as well. I feel like we can get more quality products there. Same for the paint and stain -- seems to be a better quality along with the never ending supply of painting materials we always seem to need. For lumber - it is hit or miss. That's why it's nice to be able to shuttle over to ( or back from ) their competitor. I know I've left the store with a pickup full of materials more than a dozen times. Overall, I think I like this location better than the "new" Lowes up by the Wegman's If not just for location and the proximity to their competition. read more

I was in here earlier today looking for a roll of masking paper, and was directed by one employee to an area that did not have it. I spent another ten minutes looking around for another employee to let me know where the item was. While I was looking, a man at the paint counter was waiting patiently to buy a can of paint with no employee to be found. Finally, I went on their website with my phone and found the aisle and bay number it was supposed to be in. I got there, and it wasn't there. So, I started searching for an employee again, and I finally found one. He ran it through his search tool and came up with the same result for the aisle and bay. I remarked that I had already checked there and the item was nowhere to be found. He more or less shrugged and said, verbatim, "I don't know what to tell you, man, it's gotta be there." after he exclaimed "Ah, shit.", loudly, when his search tool wasn't working. Now, I curse like a sailor on the daily, but this displayed a total lack of professionalism on the part of the employee. You don't curse in a retail environment in front of a customer, especially when you don't know the sensibilities of the customer you're interacting with. Additionally, I've worked in retail and one of the biggest faux pas is pointing to an aisle and saying "It's over there" when a customer asks you where an item is. If you're not right in the middle of something, you should take the time to show the customer where it is by escorting them to the aisle and pointing out the item; especially when they say they already checked that area and didn't see it. This was the second employee that did this to me and I can't believe they don't train their employees not to do this. I get sometimes you get those pain in the butt customers that can't see something right in front of their face, but I was looking for a giant roll of paper. There was no way I was going to miss something like that and making veiled assertions that I just wasn't looking hard enough was borderline insulting. So I went back to looking and it still wasn't there, as expected. What also hadn't changed was that, 15 minutes later, the man was still waiting to buy his can of paint. I decided to check a few more aisles and, lo and behold, there it was. It was a few aisles over in a completely different bay number. So, here I was walking to the counter with the item I'd spend 30 minutes looking for. I talked to the woman at the counter and informed her that both the online store and the employee system had the items I was looking for in the wrong place. She asked if I told the employee. I'm sorry, but why is it my responsibility to track down an employee and tell him? I'm telling you, so you should inform your manager so they can update the system. When I told her I hadn't told the employee she said, verbatim "Well, I guess someone messed up." I was more than a little irritated at this point. I had spent thirty minutes in this store looking for a roll of paper, none of the employees had done their job to help me find it, and now this last employee was asserting I do her job for her. I didn't feel like pushing the point, so I just paid and left. In the end, I would say only go to this store if it's the only convenient option for picking up some home and/or DIY stuff. Otherwise, just go to the Home Depot less than a mile away. I can't speak for their services like flooring, appliances, and the like, but if you're just trying to pick up something simple like a roll of paper, there's a good chance you're on your own to find it if it's not something with a super obvious location. The store is well-stocked, but incredibly, hilariously disorganized. The employees are not necessarily rude, but they are exceedingly unhelpful and oftentimes seem to not really care about helping the customers. I think the thing that will stick with me most about this experience is that, as I was leaving, the man was still there patiently waiting to buy his paint. Legends say he's still there, waiting at the counter as the store speakers scream for someone to help him at the paint counter. read more

I bought a dryer and had it delivered. Unprofessional and rude delivery people. They forced me to sign for a dryer that was still in the box. This is a horrible store. I had a job to do for a customer and needed an assortment of 25 stainess parts from the hardware isle. Instead of going and spending an hour trying to figure out where everything is, I simply did an online order to pickup at the store. I got the pick up email earlier in the day so I went around 8:45pm to get the order. I decided to check it against the pick list and it turns out that they had one thing wrong. They had left out one item and duplicated another. The customer service rep told me that the person that works hardware was now working in plumbing so I would need to go get the part myself. So, I walked all the way across the store and spent about 10 minutes looking up and down the isle without figuring out where it was. I walked back across the store and told her I couldn't find it. Her solution was to remove it off the order and refund me. However, she told me it was too early to refund so that would have to wait. She did this while mumbling under her breath. I asked her "who said anything about a refund?". Her reply was that there was nobody there to help so nothing she could do. I told her that was unacceptable as I just drove a half hour to get there as they were the only Lowes that had all of the order in stock. So because the store is understaffed, and made a mistake, the solution was to simply cancel the item I needed? She told me I could walk around and try and get the guy in plumbing to help as he usually works that isle but was in plumbing this particular day. Of course he was nowhere to be found. I did find another nice associate who managed to help me and we finally found what I was looking for. This is why I had them pick it for me so I didn't have to go through this b.s. This store is worse than the Gaithersburg store, which says a lot as that one is horrid. read more

I tried to pay a Lowe's credit card bill @ the cash register which u can do @ every box store in America but the cashier said u had to go to customer service. Having no time to wait in the CS line I called the store management later that day to find out what the problem with this was. Of course the call wasn't returned so I had to go back to the store and talk to a manager who explained the cashier wasn't trained properly.
