Got to try this place out last night! I ordered the gumbo and etoufee balls. I'm from Louisiana, and didn't find it true to Cajun food, but would highly recommend it to someone that isn't from there. The gumbo was pretty good, hearty. The etoufee balls were good, but not sure why they serve it with marinara - that's odd. I would like to give this place another shot though with the po-boy and hush puppies. The display of fresh fish is very great and really draws the crowd. I do think the main downside is that this place is quite pricey. I will update more as I've tried other things on the menu.

Review for beignets only. The dough is too dense. There's no rise, left with just fried dough and the beignet is absorbing too much oil that you can taste the oil. 2 for $6 :( Was really hoping it would be better. Service is good.

I stumbled upon Finn Hall before my trip to Dallas. I love grits, so I asked the young lady at the register if she can tell me more about the entree. She looked so confused, as to, "what do you mean?" So then I proceeded with follow-up questions like, "what type of fish is it?", "is there a sauce they put on top?", "does it have bacon?", "Is there cheese in the grits". I thought if someone asked you to describe a dish at your restaurant, you just start to describe it. So her customer service skills can improve a bit. Maybe it was a bit too early for her?!? I don't know, but that was a tad annoying. The last question I asked is, "Is it is pretty large portion?" She said yes. I enjoyed the food, but maybe the portion size is for a baby, or models that barely eat. I left there pretty hungry still! Now for the food! I enjoyed it! It was a simple dish, literally a fresh piece of flounder, over simple grits. I enjoyed it. It could use a pinch of salt, but I didn't really need the salt. After about 3 bites, I was finished. Thank God for the bread they put on the side! If I'm Houston again, I would return and try something else, but eat first! Also, they are pretty expensive for their portion size. Maybe the high price is due to the freshness of their seafood? But you typically don't expect a food stall to have such high prices. This is not fine dining.

Highly disappointed. Ordered a shrimp platter ($15 although the menu shows $14) and crab soup ($8). The shrimp platter included with 5 shrimp (of decent size and good quality) but the batter had no seasoning and fell off as I tried to eat the shrimp. The fries were cold & greasy and the hush puppies must have absorbed oil while cooking because they were soggy. I also ordered crab soup which had only little bits of crab and the soup itself only tasted like heavy cream. There are MUCH better places for seafood, especially at the price point. Sadly, nothing in my entire order was enjoyable.

Nothing jumbo about this teeny crab cake

Crab cake was overpriced and disappointing. Another reviewer nailed it when they said it should be called 'crab flavored cake.' All filler and none of the so-called lumps of crab as advertised. Super small, too, for $14. See the pic with a lemon wedge for reference. On the bright side, it's likely that no actual crabs died to make this meal, ha. The side salad was pretty tasty though and not too steep at $4. Do yourself a huge favor and head to Vic & Anthony's down the street instead for a proper crab cake loaded with lump meat for $20. You're welcome.

A couple of friends invited us out to try finn hall where there's 10 restaurants inside one building. How cool is that! We decided to eat at Low Tide which is mostly seafood, and I was A-okay with that! We tried a few different items starting with the snapper ceviche. I was surprised that this little place had one of the most flavorful ceviches I've ever had. On top of that, it was served with rice cakes...o how delicious. Next we tried the blackened fish tacos which were delicious as well. The crabcake we ordered was ok but nothing to brag about. The fish and chip basket was just ok as well. You really don't expect too much from fish and chips anyway. The hush puppies were amazing and so was the chicken biscuit. We will definitely be back.

Exceptional service and delicious food! Coming from out of town, I always try to maximize my meals by eating the most delicious food possible when I'm visiting a new place. Because everything on the menu looked so good, I had trouble deciding. Russell was so kind and patient with me. If only I had more time here so I could try more of their menu!

Chicken n sausge gumbo is meh. Especially for the price.

Located inside Finn Hall. The chicken and sausage gumbo is meh for the price. The entire food hall is pretty nice though.

Shrimp po boy plate with fries

Went out late venturing for some Houston eats and came across across this place in Finn Hall. Ordered a shrimp po boy and side of hush puppies. Po boy bread to shrimp ratio was off, way more bread than shrimp. The shrimp batter lacked flavor. Hush puppies were the ones that were good this meal. Nice and crunchy on outside and soft and moist (and cooked) inside. My friend ordered ouster po boy and said the oysters lacked flavor too so the batter needs some more flavor.

A very nice meal in a food court environment. I had the scrimp and grits. My wife enjoyed the crab cake with fried scrimp. The food was delicious. Very good food, nice presentation, milenial vibe.

Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough. But at some point, you stop asking what's missing and just accept that it's not landing. I was still hungry so I went next door hoping for a better experience. I want to be clear: It's not bad. It's just not working.

Cocktails, delicious. The daily food specials make it refreshing. The oysters never disappoint. We've rarely had to wait long on any ordered items and servers are all top notch. *this review is only for crawfish, not their regular menu (which is amazing) *…read more We went here during crawfish season because they've been advertising their $8/lb crawfish, and we trusted that it would be great given the quality of their regular menu. We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!
