First time trying this spot and I was impressed! The place is located inside the food court and stands out with its Mardi Gras decorations. I ordered the small shrimp po-boy with a side of fries. After placing my order I received a buzzer for when my food was ready. My order took about 15 mins to come out. The po-boy was pretty big for it being a small. The bread was fresh but missing that crunchy exterior. The veggies were fresh but the tomato was cut a little too thick for my liking. Obviously the star of the po-boy was the shrimp. Freshly made as they were hot. They were big and seasoned well. There was also a good amount of them. The fries were a little under cooked for me. They came with a generous amount of herbal seasoning but no salt.

    Very nice decor

We attended a birthday party at the Lyric. This was one of the places a lot of people ordered from. The menu was varied and well placed. I walked around the corner to order. The young lady at the counter was not real friendly and impatiently said, "give me a minute". I understand she was packing orders. The other lady that walked around telling us about the place and delivering orders was super nice. Even took pics for us. There was a young man that was out and about that was nice too. I placed my order and took a few pics while I waited. I got the boudin egg rolls and fried shrimp with red beans and rice. The egg rolls were crispy and just ok. The fried shrimp was good sized and flavor. The beans were a big hit. They gave a lot of fries and they were good as well.

So sad I got to barely enjoy this spot as it was coming to its end at Lyric market. I had a blackened shrimp po boy for the first time and I can say I may enjoy it more than a fried breaded one. Service was friendly and the gentleman helping had such great suggestions of the local eateries. I hope to find wher we they move to in the near future. Can't wait t to try the gumbo! The lyric market was a very diverse spot to go enjoy drinks and a quick

Simply amazing ! Easy five star review! Great customer service. Ivan is a top notch pro! I appreciate the hospitality and great food! Food: unreal, simply amazing! I got the red beans and rice with tasso sausage and it was amazing! Full of flavor. Every bite is seasoned to perfection! So much flavor and goodness. The shrimp po boy is top notch! I was very impressed with the bread and huge fries shrimp. Two things that stand out, one the bread is amazing. Turns out they fly it in from gambinos out of Louisiana! Second the fried shirmp are huge! Fresh and fried to perfection. The bread pudding is simply amazing. Ivan was the best and the food is great! We will be back soon. Easy five star. If you follow me. Try this place asap.

We made a trip to lyric market to try the oxtail ramen/soup from 1929poboykitchen. The actual market is really cool with good options. They have sitting outdoor as well as in the building. We sat inside and ordered our soup. The wait was very short to order, but it took more than 20 mins to get our food. The soup was good but spicy, although I had asked ans was told it was mild. I thought the ambience and decor were nice and although my soup was very spicy and the wait for long, I would recommend it. More when it's nice weather! There was plenty of street parking, not sure of they have their own lot.

I literally have nothing negative to say. Everything we had was great, it was presented beautifully, the portions were healthy, and the flavors were present! The staff were so sweet and helpful with recommendations. I will certainly be back. This spot is located within Lyric Market so it's family friendly, very spacious, and convenient if everyone is wanting a different cuisine since there's multiple options. Parking is available in a garage and two hours are free with your receipt from a purchase so make sure you keep it!

10s across the board!! fresh and flavorful! the only downside is that the food is quite pricey for a causal lunch. for the large catfish po' boy, side of potato salad, oxtail yakamein w/ shrimp, and two sodas the total was $78 w/o tip. so be prepared for that because there are no prices on the website either. the service was very friendly and professional. 1929 is located in a dining hall area, so there is open seating. although it's a communal space, everything was still very clean!! pro-tips look for street/metered parking vs a garage. if you order a po' boy, get the small i ordered a large and it was enough to share with 1-2 other ppl !! next time i will try a dessert and report back! bonne appétit

So I wanted to full love this place as a New Orleans transplant. Service was amazing! The gentleman that took my order was so cool. Granted I had the bayou water, a side of fish and the potato salad (IYKYK). Oh and the sweet potato bread pudding. Everything was great with the exception of the gumbo (bayou water). The fish was well seasoned and that's why there is a pic of it. Potato salad on point and the bread pudding was DIVINE! But that gumbo is a whole no for me. It was really greasy and I had skim the grease off the top to even taste it. The chicken was dry, and I didn't see representation of the trinity. Which hurts because I was craving a good gumbo.

I love coming here. The beignets are amazing! The catfish is really good too this last visit it was salty. I fought through it but it was tough. They are kind of pricey so no food goes to waste lol. Overall, great food and service. Definitely gives New Orleans.

Attended an event that was in Lyric Market which apparently is some kind of food hall. I'd never been there before! So many different options to choose from! I checked out 1929 and was so glad I did!! I got the catfish po-boy and it did not disappoint!!! I mean it was banging!!! I'll definitely be back to check out some other menu items and some of the other vendors in the market!!!

    Pancakes. Beyond good!!

The food was fabulous period! This spot is located in the lyric food hall in downtown Houston. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Fluffy with a great crust. Don't hesitate. Just order them! 3 nice size pancakes. I shared an order so I could also get an omelette. Veggie omlette was typical taste however they are made with cream & I asked for no cream so I'm sure ordered as made would be more delightful. Potatoes with peppers & onions were fine. Needed to add salt & pepper. Everything else was so flavorful I almost wonder if they just forgot to season them because they were allowing me to order breakfast during lunch hours. Greens are quite different. Hard to describe but they are spicy & made in like a gravy...perhaps a roux. Not vinegary. Not sweet just kinda earthy. Different but good. Others with me ordered Shrimp & grits and oxtails, everyone raved about their food. Sweet potato bread pudding also had pumpkin in it & was tasty. The primary lady in charge (owner?) was very pleasurable & accommodating. The food takes a little time so plan accordingly, but just know it's worth the wait! I highly recommend you check them out!

This isn't your everyday brunch French toast--it's French toast the Creole way!! I love Mama Mo and I can't wait to visit her this year! Definitely recommend!

My second time visiting wasn't as satisfying as the first. We tried different items on the menu and left disappointed. Prices here are steep and we expected consistent quality upon our return. The 2pc catfish and 2 sides plate was a whopping $24. The filets were averagely seasoned and the sides weren't impressive. The oxtails in the $35 yakamein were huge but were tough and could've been more tender, the taste of the dish wouldn't bring us back. We purchased the sweet potato bread pudding again and that wasn't even the same as before. Mama Mo wasn't as lively as before, which indefinitely set the tone for our return. I thought about that nearly $80 spent for days.

Feels good when an establishment takes pride in their customer's feedback and puts a plan into action. Honestly, part of me was hoping that last time was just a fluke or an off day. This time around, everything from the service to the food was great. We had a 12:30 Sunday reservation for two and opted to sit inside this time. We ordered the cast-iron cornbread, chargrilled oysters, and a cup of gumbo each to start. For entrées, I had the Gulf Fish, while my husband went with the crawfish Florentine. Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

Cocktails, delicious. The daily food specials make it refreshing. The oysters never disappoint. We've rarely had to wait long on any ordered items and servers are all top notch. We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!

Inside it's a nice restaurant with an upscale feel to it. I ordered a house salad for $9 to start and the Pasta Rosa entree for another $28. The salad arrived first with a generous amount of romaine lettuce with diced tomatoes, cucumber, shredded carrots and chopped eggs on top. With my chosen ranch dressing it was a good tasting salad. The Pasta Rosa dish had sliced Parmesan strips on top of penne with shrimp, crawfish and sausage for the protein with mushrooms and a tomato cream sauce. This meal initially tricked me. My first impression was that while there was plenty of protein the taste of the tomato cream sauce was lacking some flavor. I expected more. However as I kept eating and getting beyond the top layer of the food the flavor increased significantly. I think that the proteins caused the sauce in the lower half of the dish to create more punch. This dish got better and better and I changed my mind. It turned out to be a very good tasting and filling meal. Finally the table service was very good too. P.S. I also tried part of another appetizer which was the bar b q shrimp for $16. The Chargrilled Rockefeller? That's the one you call your mama about. Big, flavorful, perfect. And the deviled eggs... listen. I don't even like deviled eggs, but these? My mouth is literally watering thinking about them. Smooth, creamy yolk, perfectly seasoned shrimp on top -- a combo I didn't know I needed. The crab cakes? Chef's kiss. Packed with fresh crab, and that aioli is doing exactly what it needs to do. The only miss for me was the crab and asparagus -- it just wasn't giving. No flavor, no cohesion... just no.
