Worst $30 I ever spent. This place is absolutely disgusting. Crawling with roaches and NOT clean. I told them that I just wanted the $25 regular pedicure and she started giving me the $30 pedicure. When I told her no, I don't want that, she just kept going like it was too late!! The whole service was completely rushed and the staff is very unprofessional. For the price, this is a good mani/pedi spot. Depending on who does your nails, I have walked out with flawless nails and sometimes more "good/okay" nails. But everyone seems to be putting in a lot of effort here. They have always helped me right away, and definitely keep the place clean and tidy. Everyone is sweet and asks how your day is going. I used to go here when I lived in nearby. I typically ignored the family drama. I went yesterday for the first time in awhile and was surprised to learn the shop was under new ownership. One of the women who has worked at the shop a long time showed up and passed out little Chinese New Year envelopes. I thought they flower seeds for the new year! It was actually a 2 dollar bill! I was searching for a decent quality, low frill experience to get a Shellac Manicure, this was just that. This is not where you go if you want the whole nine yards, but to get in and out while receiving a quality manicure. The best part, was how cheap it was. $20 including tip and my gel lasted 2 weeks. I went here on the recommendation of my co-worker who goes all the time for pedis and waxing. They are very friendly, clean (they use sterile utensils), I didn't feel like I was rushed and I had great service. My eyebrows look fantastic and my feet are beautiful. I would have given them 5 stars but the guy doing my pedi massaged way too hard. The prices are VERY hard to beat - $7 for an eyebrow wax and $20 for a pedicure. I went in for Gel removal and regular mani . Let me first start off my saying I have fragile nails . They are then and weak so I asked if I could have a few extra minutes to let the gel soak off so there would be minimal scraping, in hopes of minimizing damage . He kinda just looked at me (not sure he understood) , he then proceeded to pull out a drill with file , which always burns . Got a refill and my nails came out exactly how I wanted. However, I gave them a 4 star instead of 5 because the guy that did my nails was too rough on my nails that he made me bleed. As he buffed into my nails with the machine, it would cut my skin that surrounded my nail and I ended up bleeding. If you have sensitive skin, don't go to the elderly guy. They did a good job on my eyebrows, although I did not like lying on a sheet with my bare legs that I am sure was used by everyone else before me.It was not the most pleasing environment . The manicure was not what I am use to back home. Only one coat of nail polish was put onto my nails. Imagine my surprise when I walked in and she remembered my name, it had been at least three years! How cool is that? Great service and nice employees but I went in on Friday to get a full set SNS and come Monday night one nail just completely fell off and one is about to come off. Connie did my pedicure and as a guy who has not had many professional pedicures in his life I can say she is absolutely awesome at helping you feel comfortable. I really wasn't sure what to expect but the full service of getting the nails trimmed, washing of my feet and legs, and the massage that accompanied it was truly impressive. First of all, the worse of it all, I am not new to having a man's pedicure. It's healthy and looks better. So I am no novice. So let me tell ya'll up front. The old guy that did my pedi cut my "pinky" toe on my left foot, tried to get it to stop bleeding, no band aid, and I left with blood still seeping. It's 2 days later, and my whole toe is bruised, and I have medicine and bandaids on it. I limp. They also did a leg massage and (not new) hit my legs as a form of that massage. I have bruises on both legs that he hit so hard. We are sstill fairly new to Austin and I went online and called several places to find a basic, but professional place for a Pedi for me and mani and pedi for my sister, one of her daughters, and a granddaughter. We wanted a little more than just a foot soak and trim up. I called 6-8 p[laces and Lovely Nails seemed to be nice, and was priced right. We arrived, and even though we made an appointment it didn't seem to matter or was necessary. There was a great young lady at the front, she spoke perfect English and her customer service was impeccable. She really wanted us to be pleased. There were two older people there, working, and they both seemed to just be "bothered" that we were there. My youngest niece (12 years old) was just to have nails painted. The older lady did it and was not encouraging or helpful with any designs, colors, or techniques. My lil one's fingers and toes were sloppy and looked like I had done them myself. Two awesome attendants helped my sister and my older niece. They did a great job. I got the older man, and I know he understood English. But he was a terrible spirit in the salon, everyone else there was respectful to him, like a father, but apparently he didn't want us, or other customers there. My lil niece didn't realize and put her sock and tennis shoe on, and sure enough her big toe polish was damaged. The young lady at the front was so automatic and fixing it and when the older lady wouldn't she got another of the male attendants to fix it. And he did a great job. Even cleaned up some of the "mess" from the previous job. They also didn't have the hot paraffin bag wax, and their colors and art and techniques were limited...or non existent. It's not just "you get what you pay for" here. The mani/pedi industry has become so available that we all have choices. I choose to never hit this spot again. A spot to go for a cheap ass pedicure. The first time I went I had Hung do a gel manicure and pedicure. Hung is the older man with short black hair and gold glasses. The gel manicure looked horrible!!! My feet were ok. I normally pay $65 for my pedicure but was low on cash. The second time I said ok just a pedicure and I had Hung AGAIN. He was so damn rude. He didn't turn on my spa chair, every time I dozed off, he kept yanking on my feet, it wasn't soothing at all. Then when I dozed off again he hit my leg and yelled wake up!!! Extra snappy. They are experts and I don't have to come back for another month since they do a good job. Cindy and Lisa are friendly and so are the younger employees. No frills, just get what you want quick. Best eyebrow place in Austin I've been to so far! Ask for Lisa, she will take care of you. I have thick eyebrows and I'm very Particular about the way they are done. Before each strip that she pulled off, she let me look with A mirror to make sure it would be to my liking. She gave me tips on my eyebrows, she let me know what would be best for my eyebrows too! I went in here a few weeks back to get a manicure done, and I was quite happy with it. I was surprised when they told me I only owed them $10 for the treatment, because I chose three colors for them to paint my nails.I was very pleased also, because the lady that did mine was very good at massaging, which my hands/arms needed it badly from all the work I do. They do not take walk-ins though they advertise that they do. I went at 10:15am on a Friday and there were zero customers and only one visible employee in the salon. The person working the desk explained that they had appointments already booked for the 10:00 hour and couldn't take me until 11am. No good. He Took off my old SNS with an electric sander/buffer (don't know the name of the tool). In the process he took half my nail off with it leaving my nails weak and thin. He also cut my finger with the tool and drew blood. Instead of stopping to make sure I was ok he just kept going. I had to stop him to tell him I wanted to clean the cut out. He'd even joked prior to this "if I hurt you don't kick me." I'm positive this guy had absolutely no clue what he was doing as he was extremely sloppy and had slipped the tool off my nails several times scratching my skin before it actually cut me. I explained to him and the shop manager that I wasn't upset that he cut me because mistakes happen but just wanted to be assured that the tool had been sanitized prior to being used on me. They refused to answer this and I ended up leaving. read more
