Very modern and welcoming. When I came in, I was greeted by the stylists working on hair. Everyone was chatting and clients seemed relaxed. Maribel was my stylist, and was super easy to talk to. The hair wash was glorious, and Maribel had my hair washed, cut, dried and styled in under an hour! I highly recommend Torres!

From the moment I walked into her salon, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile, which immediately put me at ease. What impressed me most about this hairstylist was her extensive knowledge and professionalism when it came to coloring and adding dimension to my hair. She listened intently as I explained what I was looking for and made some excellent suggestions that I hadn't even considered. Her attention to detail was truly impressive and it was clear that she was incredibly passionate about her craft. ( Something I've been struggling in Austin) coming to her with a dry damaged thin hair thinking she couldn't do much. Since coming to her, my hair has become bouncier and healthier than ever before. I am constantly receiving compliments on my hair, which is a true testament to her skill and expertise. Communication has never been an issue as she is bilingual, which made the whole process seamless and enjoyable. I am so grateful to have found such an amazing hairstylist who truly cares about her clients and their hair. I always bring her photos of what I am looking for and she works her magic to get me there. She is truly a master of her craft and I have already recommended her to all of my friends and family.

She has been patient during the times I "colored" my own hair until I finally wised up and allowed her to work her magic with balayage. Sarah is someone I have trusted with my hair from when I was searching for someone who knew how to cut long hair (really long) to when I finally donated to locks of love, tried out some short bobs then let it grow out again and explored some color. She goes the extra step in not only learning and growing in her craft, but also teaching or offering input to other stylists when asked. I don't know what I would do if I ever had to move away as I have followed her to new salons! Outside of Sarah making me feel incredibly safe and comfortable during these past months, Jose Luis Salon is also set up for success. The salon itself is spaced out and divided to make sure social distancing is in place. You let them know when you are there/ready and they only bring in clients one at a time while doing temp checks too. So if you are tired of your quarantine hair or just ready to try a new look or color- Sarah Contey is your hair stylist and Jose Luis Salon is your place!

I booked a last minute appointment and Isabella was my stylist. I showed up 10 minutes early and she was ready for me. She made sure to offer the two shampoos and she did a great job! I am a fan of the Southern Belle (Southern Comfort) with pin curls to hold the style and she was ready. She sectioned off my hair and made sure every section was perfectly dry. She used the products in the yellow bottle for volume and the pink bottle for detangler. She sprayed my pin curls for the humidity (Austin is still too hot and humid). She finished off by doing a light finger toss on my curls and finished off with a few spritz of their amazing hairspray. So let me tell you how long it has lasted so far - I walked 5 minutes back to the hotel, then we had dinner at the Four seasons and that required a short walk to the cyber cab that missed our pickup point, then we walked to Rainey Street for Oktoberfest and then we walked back to our hotel. I told the stylist I needed volume and explained that I have fine, curly hair, so I paid extra for a treatment to keep it from frizzing. Great, I was super excited! Then I went outside and got an Uber to protect my hair from the extreme humidity, headed to the Line Hotel (if you look it up, it's not far by car). I got up to the room where everyone was getting ready -- I was there for my niece's wedding. Within moments, my hair was completely straggly. It looked greasy. It looked horrible, and we had to get in a car in about 15 minutes. Thankfully, my friend was available -- she'd already had her hair and makeup done -- and she redid every single piece of my hair for me. When I called in a panic, all I was told was to come back. Well, weddings don't wait for their guests -- I had no opportunity to come back. They then offered for me to come back the next day, which would have been of no value to me for two reasons: I was getting on a plane, and the wedding would be over. I got a return call on Monday, which was kind of the manager. However, the only thing they offered me was a $15 credit to a place I'll never return to, since I don't live in Austin, Texas. If someone called me back and told me their hair had completely fallen, my first instinct would be, "Of course we'll give you a refund" -- but not this place. So if you're thinking about getting your hair done at Drybar: they're usually absolutely amazing, but I'd proceed with caution given other people's experiences. I'm sorry to have to say this, but I've truly never been so disappointed in customer service as I was on Monday, when I learned that the over $100 I spent wasn't going to be refunded -- even though my hair ended up looking beautiful, thanks to my friend, not Drybar. Do better.
