Have you noticed most of the these Mexican eateries are named after men? Different to see this one used a female name. Went here to visit some friends. And while Lourdes looks small from the street, there is plenty of parking in the back. The interior is not that big, but there are a couple of tables in front of Lourdes. Guacamole: chunks of avocado left as how I prefer it, but the flavor was plain. Huevos Rancheros: not too hard to mess up, good. Fish burrito: the batter used was to plain tasting, but the cream sauce inside of the burrito added good flavor to each bite. Cabbage was fresh inside the burrito. The burritos are a good size, they are not monstrous. Tostada de ceviche: decent flavor, fresh fish Cheese quesadilla: not too oily. There was just the right amount of cheese In summary, Lourdes is a clean and convenient place to eat or for takeaway. However, the food is non-remarkable. This is usually one of our favorite places for a quick bite of Mexican food, but after last night, it might be time to reevaluate that. This was the 3 rolled taco plate which is $6.59. Absolutely criminal. They were flavorless. And my husband ordered 2 chicken tacos (taco Tuesday special $2.99 ea) which were also rather blah. I love a great plate of chicken mole and there sure is something special having some of it wrapped in a warm moist flavor tortilla which was what I ordered here: the chicken mole burrito with rice for $6.49. The chicken mole came piping hot inside the burrito and with plenty of tender chicken and savory and sweet mole sauce. I thought the mole sauce was very well made. The burrito came with some Mexican rice, but I can't believe I am saying this, I think the burrito needed a little more rice. There was just a little tucked away at one of the corners of the burrito. It was definitely easily over shadowed with all the delicious chicken mole. The taco shop is very nice and well kept. I liked that they give you some tortilla chips with your burritos so that one can try some of their tasty salsas! read more

We keep giving them chances, but the quantity in the burrito is ridiculous. I have to tear off so much tortilla. Super bummed out. Other then that the quality and taste of food is always on point. Overall love this place. If you're sick, get the soup! If you like soup, get the soup! Also pro tip: ask for a bag of chips (they're free) If you're in the burrito mood, the surf and turf is bombbbbb but it's also the most expensive thing on the menu...if you're looking for value go for the breakfast burrito. As Texas natives we know our way around tacos and Lourdes does an amazing job. We had the grilled fish tacos, carnitas tacos, shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos and al pastor. There are a lot of burrito joints in a radius around Lourdes, however, most of them are pretty sketchy, not much effort put into cleanliness. Lourdes on the other hand is super tidy and clean. Food is good and they have a Mexican soup specialty definitely worth trying. I've already been back several times since leaving this review and will be back yet again. read more

They really do have the best chicken soup! It's full of flavor and huge chunks of chicken. The soup is served in 3 sizes and comes with avocado and your choice of tortillas. It's the perfect cure for a cold or for a rainy day. I also really love their chicken flautas! They come with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole and they are delicious! It's hard to find places with flautas on their menu, especially ones that taste so fresh and homemade. Their salsa bar has a good variety, from very mild to spicy, so there is something for everyone. I have heard good things about other items on their menu, but the soup is always my number one go-to. Fresh ingredients make all the difference and you really feel like you're having a meal out of someone's home. read more

They open at 9 am just FYI. Cool spot, I like how they have a garage door that opens up the entire restaurant. We ordered two breakfast burritos, which were - good size; probably could of fed my wife and I. The tortilla was fresh and warm. Everything about the breakfast burrito was good. They have French fries and not potatoes. We had the mild sals which was flavorful and not spicy at all. The side of chips is a small bag, but those were also fresh, just needed a tad bit more salt. We have been on a search for huevos rancheros. After more than 10 restaurants close and far, we think we have found our the spot. Lourdes' huevos rancheros have a sauce that is well apportioned and flavorful! When we started, I wasn't a fan of sauce with vegetables in it, but Lourdes makes it amazing. The eggs are cooked over medium so you have a runny yolk like my husband likes (I hate that though, and always ask for it well done), and the side of beans and rice are delicious. Super disappointing. A number of people said this place was pretty good and recommended I try it, but I would not go back. We ordered two California burritos and they were a let down. Way too soggy on the inside with sour cream and guacamole. It was like a liquid burrito. You were literally just taking bites of very liquid guacamole and sour cream and the French fries were not crisp at all. Just an overall soggy burrito. I'd also say the burrito itself was not "stuffed full" so you were getting air bites of tortilla. Maybe other items on the menu are better, but this was a pretty bad Cali burrito and I won't be back. read more

Best bean & cheese burrito with Guacamole in California. It's so fresh, it's hard to eat. Great chicken and machaca burritos, too. The ONLY reason I'm giving this a 4* is because over and over and over again I've seen people being their big and small dogs INSIDE when there are ole ty of places to hook your dog to outside. I have a German Shepherd and I never arrogantly walk her into restaurants. Today, a man brought his raggedy puppy inside and hung it over the salsa bar while he was getting salsa and carrots, and the staff said. I thing. It's one thing to violate the health code by allowing dogs inside that stand on the floor. But it is SICKENING when someone is allowed to hang his dog over the salsa bar. Food is OK so bland and the chicken soup is nothing like Jorge's they had this weird spice that kids will not like. Carne asada is dry and weirdly crispy. So salty the food is not satisfying enough you feel gross after eating it. Cardiff locals here officially check marked off our list after few attempts, never again that place. I had some time to kill while waiting to attend a bluegrass event at the Del Mar Library so I drove to Cardiff by the Sea. My friend asked me to stop at 7 Eleven to check his lotto ticket. While he was there he inquired about a reasonably priced resturant in the area. The nice lady told him of Lordes. We went there and I'm glad we did. The staff was friendly and helpful. The eatery was nicely decorated. The food was good and really reasonably priced considering the location. My friend had the surf and turf burrito. It came with tortilla chips. He really enjoyed it. I had the carnitas burrito combo with rice beans and a fountain drink. I chose rice water. Spell check didn't help me find the word I was looking for that starts,with an h. My carnitas was seasoned nicely and big for the price. The beans were OK. Better when I added a tiny bit of salt. I try not to add salt to food since my 4 way bypass But sometimes a man has to do what a man has,to do. You just can't eat a refried pinto bean. So I added a tiny bit of salt (don't tell my heart Doctor, he wrote a book warning me not to eat Salt I didn't buy the book as I felt he should have thrown in an autographed copy given the price my insurance paid and my out of pocket expenses) As you can see the salt didn't kill me. i lived to write this review. The rice was rice nothing spectacular no complaints. But then I'm not a huge rice fan. I deffinantly plan to make this my mealstop whenever I'm in the area. Absolutely delicious. What a little gem of a place for those in San Elijo Hills. Stopped in here on a rainy day for the soup which they declare as being the best. You know what? It was! I've had chicken soup at lots of North County Mexican taco shops but this was the bomb. Fresh pulled/shredded breast of chicken, great broth, cilantro, rice and onions on request topped off with a few avocado slices. Just absolutely amazing. Also our table had a few other items including the "Steak Ranchero Burrito" which was spot. Delicious carne asada and ranchero sauce that was perfect (plus grilled onions). Thee best!!!! I love the caldo de pollo soup! It's perfect everytime and it's so simple yet the flavors and ingredients pack the right amount yumminess. Best for hangovers, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, whenever. It's also the rather healthier option as well. The rest of the menu is great too! For some reason I don't feel gassy or sick after I eat from here. I don't know if it's bc they use better ingredients or just make the food better? Who knows. But it's my favorite Mexican food joint out of all of them! Service is always great too. Everyone is friendly and the food is made quick yet with care and attention. We were also able to get 10% off by checking in when picking up the food! I got chicken enchiladas. The chicken had excellent flavor and wasn't dry. The tortillas and cheese were decent quality, and the side of rice was good. I was thoroughly unimpressed by the refried beans - I think there may have been too much lard, and so they were bland and disappointing.
