We loveeee Lourdes, we've been coming here since we moved to Cardiff/ Enci area and it's our favorite Mexican spot. Best bean and cheese burritos in sd, we've brought family and friends here numerous times and they have loved it as well. The staff is always so friendly, quality of food is great and it's obvious that it's a local's favorite ( along with the surrounding small businesses like VG, Pipes, and Best Pizza). Casual counter style spot with an ocean view. Haven't been to the other locations but have heard from friends they're just as tasty. Our favorites are the rolled tacos or flautas, carne asada fries, cali burrito, enchiladas and their caldo de pollo is amazing and something they're known for. We love you Lourdes! read more

I wanted to try this place again because it's right down the street so we did Uber Eats and my wife wanted a chicken soup because she wasn't feeling great. The proximity makes it fantastic, the food could be a little more complex in flavor. The chicken soup was good, not great, however, the cheese quesadilla and the Carnitas tacos were terrific and it was here in 10 minutes so I say it's a win and we'll go back again. read more

Lourdes is truly a gem. Their chicken soup is absolutely divine--rich, flavorful, and consistently amazing every single time. It's the ultimate comfort food, especially on a chilly day or when you're not feeling well. Truly a 10/10. We often order through DoorDash, and they always do an excellent job packaging everything so it arrives hot, fresh, and spill-free, which I really appreciate. Beyond the soup, we've also ordered the taquitos, burritos, and quesadillas, and all of them are delicious--but the chicken soup is hands-down the star of the show. I cannot recommend Lourdes enough. Clean, counter style Mexican restaurant. Wanted to compare their chicken soup with Fidels...was just aa good but even better when it cooled down. Wish it came with more rice and avocado. I did add in more Mexican rice (the soup had white rice in it) which added more flavor and made more hearty. Also ordered the chile relleno with rice and it was tasty with the cheese melted. Rice was very good. Only downside was it was served in one of those cardboard to go containers so by the time I got home the chile relleno soaked through the container. Love getting Mexican food before going to the beach. This place was conveniently located close to Cardiff beach. My boyfriend and I ordered a California burrito fried extra crispy and 3 beef rolls taco combo. The combo came with rice, beans and a small drink. We chose the horchata which was basic. The burrito was ok. The meat was chopped up/shredded instead of how sliced carne asada usually is in a burrito. The rolled tacos were good. I liked them better at this location compared to the one in Escondido. I love their salsas and that the bar has pickled carrots that you can self serve. Service is good. You order and pay at the cashier then have a self serve salsa bar and drink area. Cute small shop close to the water. I like that the place opens up like a garage door for open aire seating. Okay so on my trip to SD, I ate as many bean and cheese burritos and I could manage in a week. I really really liked this place. The tortilla was fire and had a nice char on it, and the beans and cheese were melded together phenomenally. My only complaint would be the beans could have been seasoned more. But again, tortilla was amazing and the drip age of the beans and cheese was perfect -- a little runny but still held its shape. read more

Had one really delicious shrimp taco from here when we stopped in desperation for a restroom. The wife always feels guilty just using the restroom so she bought me a grilled fish taco and they mixed the order up and gave her a shrimp taco. No complaints about that mistake because the shrimp taco was so good. I later tried to replicate the experience with a shrimp taco from another Lourdes in Oceanside and it wasn't the same. Guess I'll have to drive down to Cardiff By The Sea for my shrimp taco fix. This location is minimalist with counter ordering and maybe 4 tables or so. Roll up front door means it's all open to the outside. Counter service was easy enough. You do get to look at the Pacific Ocean while you wait or while you eat. My best friend and I had dinner here a couple weeks back. There were quite a few families already eating here when we arrived, so it seems like a very popular spot. The staff that took our order were friendly and gave us some free chips while we waited for our order. The ambiance was very casual. What we ordered: The chicken soup- their soup is advertised as the best in town but sadly I have to say it was not very flavorful and the chicken was a bit dry. It also did not have any veggies in it besides onions. The chicken flautas- these were nice and crispy, but again, the chicken was a bit dry and not very flavorful. They were topped with guacamole but it was clearly not homemade, but from a premade package (like Wholly Guacamole or similar) The cheese enchiladas (red sauce)- I enjoyed these- the sauce had a good flavor to it and it was topped with lettuce and sour cream. read more

I had this breakfast burrito mid afternoon around 3pm so maybe it wasn't a great time to order this because the beans were hard and tortilla wasn't as soft. I was still able to eat it but I want to try to order in the morning and see if it's better. My husband had the surf n turf burrito and he loved it! He thought everything tasted fresh and delicious. The salsa bar has great options to add to enhance the flavors which was a plus. The service was great and everything inside was clean which is why I'll still give them 4 stars overall. read more

Came here Sunday morning as a part of our quest to find the BEST breakfast burrito in North County. Love Lourdes and have been coming here for years. Super cute and next to the water. They are always super nice and accommodating for my modifications and you can't beat the price! My HUGE burrito came to 10$ even though I added avocado AND bacon. AND they give you free chips AND have a huge salsa bar! The quality of the burrito was great. Large enough to eat one half for different meals. Not greasy either! The tortilla was beautiful. Wasn't homemade but that's okay because it was warm and toasty and perfectly wrapped and not too much extra tortilla Beautiful ratio of ingredients but wish it had a tad more avocado. Sadly, the flavor was a little lacking!! It needed lots of salt and pepper. But with those additions it was great. Lastly, can we talk about the distribution!? It was perfect! Overall solid 8/10 breakfast burrito. Sadly my roommate got the bean egg and cheese burrito and was totally not a fan. With all the visits we've made to Lourdes over the years, I can't believe I haven't left a review. Lourdes is a must-stop when we visit Cardiff. We have camped at San Elijo State Park often over the years and would really get excited about lunch at Bull Taco. The view was what made it. However, if we had been completely honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that Lourdes, across the street, has hands down better food. I'm a chile relleno fan and their plates with beans or the Chile relleno burrito are to die for. And the chicken soup..... oh my. The best flavor and oh so filling. We stopped in for breakfast on all three days of our visit to Cardiff and shared the chorizo burrito, the chile relleno burrito and the chicken soup. Each entree was delicious; I personally enjoyed the chile relleno burrito the most. I must have made four trips to the salsa bar trying their amazing flavors. We returned on Taco Tuesday and shared three tacos: shrimp, fish and spicy pork. The corn tortillas were strong enough to hold in all the filling yet soft. They are medium size and enough to share. Each two had wonderful flavor and veggie-accompaniment to the meat. Delish. The ambience is casual and has that beach-worn feel. The staff are always friendly and seem happy to come to work. Prices are very reasonable for the area and portion sizes are enough to share. Come hungry and leave very satisfied. read more

Limited parking in the front. Several tables inside and out, but inside can get chilly with the garage door open. Service is friendly and efficient. They do ask for a tip on the iPad while order, but it's self seat, pickup, drink. I'm not sure what the tip is for. Everything is self service. Burritos are BIG. Food is decently priced for the area and portions are larger than average, so that makes it a good value. The food is tasty as well. The carne Asada is tender and delicious. Ok so I have a complicated relationship with this place. Their chicken tacos are awesome. Very true cal mex with the crema and cheese. Great portions etc. HOWEVER. WARNING: THEIR HOT CARROTS WILL GIVE YOU HORRIBLE, PAINFUL DIARRHEA!!!!! I AM SO SERIOUS. it is the carrots. those damn carrots. twice this has happened. you would think I have learned. wrong. i came back in, backsliding like you do with a toxic but hot ex. and once again i am hurt. screaming pain on the toilet, absurd gas and nausea the next morning.
