This was a-ok. Stopped here for dinner after flying in to town and after learning the burritos didn't come as I wished (rice, beans, salsa, etc) I opted for the taco combo and a horchata. The service was great and we didn't wait too long for our food to come out. We also got a fresh batch of chips which were tasty. My plate was fine, most of the flavor came from the salsa they have available on the side. B enjoyed his burrito and we both liked the horchata. I've been eating here since 1986. My family eats here once every couple of weeks because it's convenient and decent food. I am totally missing the cravings I used to get for their three rolled tacos. Their carne asada was to die for, but things are just not the same. It has gone downhill since the new ownership. Please go back to the original recipes. Everything, including the carne asada is greasy. Everything is just not as fresh, and my tacos are literally dripping with oil. People will pay more for good food, so invest in yourselves! Went to eat here and bought a bottled drink along with my food. Noticed it tasted bad so I checked the expiration date and it was VERY expired. When I told the cashier about it, he was rude and annoyed that I brought it to his attention. He didn't offer us a refund for selling us an expired soda, even though we had only taken a couple sips and it was basically full. He started talking bad about us to his coworker in Spanish making it seem like we are dramatic. Once he realized we understood spanish he looked embarrassed. Cashier doesn't understand that selling expired beverages is a health code violation and he was acting like its no big deal we had to insist on a refund of the drink. Be careful if you eat here because if they sell expired products in the front of the store, imagine what they've got behind closed doors. read more

Just saying, Los Angeles does not have Mexican food like San Diego's. Whenever I come down I immediately look for any restaurant ending in "bertos" and they never disappoint! I found Roberto's while I was out shopping for a party and this was right on the main road of El Camino Real! Plenty of parking, line to order was just right, everything cooked fresh and I could quickly eat there. I ordered a Chili Relleno burrito and I couldn't help it, I ordered a crunchy shredded beef taco also. Way more food than I needed but totally worth it! The huge differences with what Roberto's does right is the Cotija cheese blended with yellow cheese the amazing tortillas made the right way and not hiding the flavors in too much sauce or filler. Horrible filth. It's one thing to be a busy restaurant with limited staff, this was a different filth, it's obvious they don't care about the condition of the sitting area. The standout is always the shredded beef. If your in a high protein, low carb diet, I recommend the shredded beef with any tortilla. The food is always fresh, the service is always friendly, and you cannot beat the location. They offer a rolled taco plate (2023) that gives you a choice of guacamole or sour cream. This location was recently sold, the new owners kept the name but increased prices, quality is the same or worse for some things, and portions are the same or smaller. The interior is the same. None of the former staff work here but the new employees are fine. The food tasted good, just not what I have been accustomed to. I've been going to this location for over a decade and probably won't be back because I'm not a fan of the changes. If you've never had the old one, you probably won't be disappointed with the changes. read more

So... today, I ordered a *bean and cheese with no cow cheese ew. But I asked for extra rice, specifically extra rice and I also asked for cabbage because lettuce wilts. They charge me an extra 3 dollars for a *custom item charge* wth so for my rice, bean and cabbage burrito with a tip was 10 bucks. In what world is 10 dollars sustainable for a rice bean and cabbage burrito, like kmon hook up the rice guys. And then I get it, and it's mostly beans, hardly any rice. Encinitas El Camino: Tables were dirty, had to ask for one to be wiped clean. The Towel was not taken out of the bleach bucket but was damp and most likely filled with bacteria , against Health Dept regulations. All other tables were dirty but the employee didn't bother to clean any of them. Ordered the beef tostada bowl, bummer. The small portion of beef, not more than 3oz, had at least one piece which was mostly fat, irritating. The green chilies were mush... bottom line, the tostada bowl was not good. Why when paying with a card are are we prompted to leave a tip for $15 plus an hour paid fast food workers? If the tips are going to the owners to offset the increased wages I am good with that, otherwise we are paying more for food and tipping more due to increased menu items. This is happening with the majority of fast food restaurants so my critique of that applies across the board. read more
