About 15 min later, we were approached by staff & told that we needed to leave because another party wanted our table. At the time, there were still at least six empty outdoor tables around us. We politely apologized, thanked them for the wonderful meal, & left. My friend & I walked downtown Black Mountain afterward, & about 20 minutes later happened to pass the restaurant again. What I saw was disappointing: our table had not even been cleared & remained exactly as we had left it. It was still empty, along with several of the surrounding tables. Being asked to leave was not what bothered me. Restaurants need tables, & I completely understand that. What bothered me was being told that another party was waiting for our specific table when what I observed afterward did not support that explanation. If there was another reason they wanted us to leave, I would have preferred simple honesty. The food was genuinely excellent, which makes the experience especially disappointing. Hospitality is about more than what is served on the plate; it is also about how guests are treated. Unfortunately, the way our evening ended overshadowed what had otherwise been a very enjoyable meal, & for that reason I would not return.

The accommodations were perfect and we ended up having dinner at the Inn both nights. Food was very good as well as the service. I loved the idea of not having to drive to dinner or having to wait in line somewhere else. After about 930pm, the Inn was perfectly quiet and we slept so well on the comfortable bed in the Music Room. Black Mountain is a very cute town full of little shops and eateries. 20 minute drive to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. Thanks for a wonderful stay at your Inn. PS the Frogmore Stew was delicious!!!
