    Scott's #7 item
    June W.

We each had the Scott's #7 item (one piece of fried fish and fries). Cooked to order, obviously, so it took a few mins. Delicious! The battering on the fish was light and crispy, and wasn't greasy. The fries were the double-fried kind, so they were extra crunchy. The cole slaw we also got was very good. Cute place, but only 6 tables. Friendly service. A must-go to place!

Cod fish and chips. Excellent. Hot and fresh. Great price. Enjoyed it so much and will be back.

    Big Combo

Me and my coworkers were discussing fish and chips so we hopped on Yelp hoping to find a good promising place for delicious fish and chips. Louise's did not disappoint! Our office is located in Pleasanton although we did DoorDash it because they are in Livermore the food still arrived pretty fresh and pretty hot. I got the big combo, well because I'm a big guy, and it had a little bit of everything because I wanted to sample a little bit of everything they had to offer. I also ordered the mushrooms which were chefs kiss!

What an amazing little Fish and Chips place with a slight asian twist (I will come back to why I say that below). Family operated, no fuss, clean, completely affordable place. We got 3 piece fish and chips, two additional fried fish and fried zuchini. This was enough food for 2 adults and one child. They nicely separated portioned our order for three of us and provided extra chips so that it would be enough for all of us. Order comes with Ranch, tartar sauce and ketchup. Ranch and tartar sauce was fresh and provided in clean, squeezable bottles. Not stingy like most businesses where condiments are provided in tiny unreachable plastic cups. None of that here! You can squeeze on as much condiments as you want. Now lets talk about why I said "slight" Asian twist - the game is in the batter. Batter is well seasoned, light, airy, crispy. Much better than traditional californian dense fish and chips batter (Dont get me wrong, I love that too). But with this you really get to taste the fresh fish and not feel too heavy or greasy afterwards. The fish has these light flowery petals on the side which provides extra cruch in every bite. Ingenuity! This is a hybrid between british and asian fish and chips using best of both worlds. This fish wont get soggy, oily or dry out inside even if you take it home and reheat in air fryer or 400 F oven. Chips were well seasoned, not too salty, crispy, in sufficient portion, very very lightly battered. Fellow yelpers - I request you to go and support his local, family owned business...

I seen Louise's one day when I was at the auto parts store next door. I had it in my mind to go one day. Well, what really drove me was the reviews of others when I looked it up on Yelp. This place is a gem! If you enjoy fish n chips this place is what you've been looking for! The best I've had in years! The fish is fresh. The batter is delicious and crunchy at every bite. The service is excellent, friendly business owners. The establishment is extremely clean! We had to the fish n chip prawn combo, and we got chicken strips for one of the kids. Next time I come in I would like to try the coleslaw! Looks like it's made from fresh ingredients. Yum!

Louise's Fish & Chips Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Louise's Fish & Chips

Do they use beer in the batter for the fish and chips?

I don't believe they do. They don't advertise beer batter products.

What kind of fish do they use?

Cod. It is so good...don't think you'll be disappointed. And again, the zucchini is amazing!

I have to avoid gluten for medical reasons. The only fish and chips place I've ever found that can accommodate me was one in Maui, but that's a bit far. Is there anywhere near here that offers fish and chips that are gluten-free?

Recommend getting between 5-7 dishes depending on how hungry you are. Went with the mussels, oysters, albacore, king salmon, and the star of the show, the bluefin tuna cowboy style. Every dish was beautifully plated with its own complex and distinct flavors. The servers do a great job of timing the dishes just right once you're ready for the next one. We wish we had more room in our stomach to try more dishes from the menu.

You can choose between bar seating or a table--we went with a table. The space is cute, modern, and has a great vibe. One thing I really appreciated is that all the sashimi dishes came pre-seasoned with thoughtful sauces and toppings. We didn't even need soy sauce or ginger--everything was already balanced and flavorful. Oysters (3.5/5) Solid. Fresh and clean, and great value for a dozen. We added "the works" for $3, which came with extra sauces--definitely worth it and added a nice variety of flavors. Uni Toast (4/5) Really good. Served on a crispy ube toast with great presentation. Definitely on the pricier side, but expected for good uni. Worth trying if you're into uni. Tuna Crudo (4.5/5) Really enjoyed this. Flavor was good, but the crispy bread was a highlight for me. Some might think it's too crispy, but I loved the texture. The wagyu juices tied everything together nicely. DIY Handrolls (4/5) Fun concept--comes with mini sheets of seaweed, rice, and hamachi so you can build your own. The fish tasted fresh and high-quality. The only downside is I wish they gave more seaweed. Cured Chirashi Don (4.5/5) The sushi rice was honestly one of the most flavorful I've had--very pronounced vinegar taste (in a good way). The fish was fresh and of high quality. Definitely a standout. Overall, this place leans on the pricier side since it's small plates/tapas style--we ended up ordering around 7-8 dishes to feel full. That said, the flavors are unique and I liked how some of the fish was lightly seared, adding a nice aroma and texture. Service was solid--our server checked in regularly. They also brought out cookies and milk for my birthday, which was a nice touch (not free--$8--but still worth it). Would come back to try more dishes

The ambiance is cute with a small closed off glass area of wine and two seater table inside! Our waitress Dominique was amazing. She was able to give great recommendations for wines and food. She also made us feel taken cared of and was friendly/warm. The food is a mix of mexican/euro/american so there were a lot of different options. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. Because we were celebrating a birthday, Dominique made a dessert with a nice special touch. Will definitely be back again!

I loved the jerk pork tacos! The pork was juicy, tender, and aromatic, and the mango-papaya salsa added a refreshing sweetness. I also tried the paella Oyo that my sister ordered which was sooo yummy and full of protein. The small size was more than enough! My mom ordered the oxtail stew which wasn't on their brunch/lunch menu (dinner only), but I really appreciate that they were accommodating to make that dish for her. I've never had oxtail and it was delicious--tender, perfectly sweet and savory, and paired well with the plantains. The other dishes that my family ordered were hits too (jerk pork shoulder and seafood paella). We also tried the ripe plantains pancake Oscar for a sweet treat. I love anything marshmallow, so the brûléed marshmallow cream that blanketed the pancakes was heavenly. It also came with a plantain on top and a few other fruits to balance out the sweetness. Overall, we left full and all around very satisfied. The staff showed us such warm hospitality and came around often to check on us, despite being an almost packed house. The decor was beautiful and the atmosphere had a fun lively energy. With indoor and outdoor seating options, anywhere you get seated is a nice spot.
