I had high hopes for this restaurant. The restaurant is a very long drive and sadly not worth it. The sushi is ok. The hibachi is ok. However, the prices are far higher than other places I have been. Parking is ok. Accessibility is ok. Overall it was ok but I rated it lower as it was out of several items I wanted to order and it was the middle of the day. I decided to stop here for lunch since I was shopping in the area and I have been craving Chinese food. The place is in front kohl's store and it looks dated on the inside. The menu is huge and I would order the calamari with the lunch Mongolian beef. I started with a strawberry margarita which must have been the biggest one I have ever had and it was terrible because it didn't even taste like strawberry and it wasn't blended correctly because it was half liquid on the bottom and ice on top. My food came quickly with the calamari being hot and the rest of my food like room temperature. The calamari was lightly battered and not bad but not the best. The chicken fried rice was flavorless for the most part with white meat chicken. The egg roll was tasty and slightly above average. The Mongolian beef was good but about 60% onions and not so much beef for the most part. Overall it was very average, not bad but nothing fantastic so I don't see myself ever going back. read more

Have been to all the sushi places in town, and they have the best sushi in Milwaukee and are an amazing family restaurant.

If I was in the area for longer, I would have visited many more times! Unfortunately I was just passing through. Sushi tasted weird, was terribly put together, and literally made me sick within an hour.

My husband and I rarely ate out, but this was our go to restaurant. We always had the same meals, and the owners would see us coming and have our orders started before we entered. The starter of Westlake soup was to die for! Good food, friendly people, fantastic memories. My husband passed away suddenly and I had to move 2 hours away. Craving for sashimi and friend recommended Lotus. Made the 75 mins drive to MKE Lotus. Lots of parking and they got Mon/Tue lunch specials (lucky me!) There were only 4 tables on a Tue at 1:30 pm and we were seated immediately. Hostess/waitress took beverage orders immediately and asked for our orders. It was quite an extensive menu and needed some time. Ended up getting the sashimi bento where it came with gyoza, CA roll, some carrots/baby corns, 6 pieces of sashimi and my favorite shiso. Hubby got three rolls: Philadelphia, spicy salmon and something else. I'm not a huge fan of excessively sesame seeds; my bento was covered in sesame seeds from steamed white rice to veggies. But then I'm also not a huge rice fan (I know, shocking for being Chinese). CA rolls were good, nothing special on the deep fried gyoza, the quality and quantity of fish were ok as there were some membranes. Hubby said his rolls were good but the protein/rice ratio wasn't that good. We were both satisfied and left MKE. BUT I had to stop for restroom as my stomach was hurting and it wasn't good. Unsure if it was related to what I ate but I'm going to refrain myself from eating raw fish as I don't know the turnover rate in this restaurant. This place also offers hibachi and check out the 'show' if you haven't been. We did that at Benihana but not this place. The owners are from China and she was friendly. read more

Although I would categorize this restaurant as average o would say that the food can be a hit or mess depending on what you order. The ambiance is very much small business and family friendly. One thing I will say is the food can be a bit expensive and everything if not most of the menu is family servings so keep that in mind. I just want to throw into the world that something has to be extremely bad for me to leave a bad review. Often times I just chalk it up to places that don't seem to be for me, but I'm honestly in question on how this place is open. We ordered out and when my partner arrived to the restaurant he debated just walking out. There were two entirely abandoned fish tanks and the place smelt of old fish not making a good impression to start. My partner paid for our nearly $100 of takeout and was on his way home. The boneless ribs were not even close to what they should have been, basically just incredibly dry beef shavings and the sauce provided leaked all out of the container (at least over the ribs) but didn't do it any favors in terms of flavor or the fact that it was cooked way too long. Otherwise we mainly got sushi - not a great choice. Anything with fish, particularly raw fish, seemed literally fishy and inedible. There was salmon on on top of one of the rolls that was starting to turn brown, and it wasn't cooked for that particular roll. Nothing smelt good, nothing looked good. anything with fish smelt like old fish which good quality ingredients should not inherently smell, particularly like old rotting fish. The basc rolls that were cooked and had no raw components felt like they were never even warm. There was a yam tempura roll that had chopped pieces of yam... With tempura in the middle I guess? And it was extremely cold and just tasted like bland rice and old oil. There was some pink sauce that we didn't understand what it was supposed to be... I think most sauces were supposed to be an eel sauce but it was literally radioactive glowing pink sauce that none of us understood what it was and perhaps was trying to cover up the color of old rotting fish. We spent way too much money to end up throwing everything away after the most basic bites and refusing to eat anything raw as we felt we would get sick. Will never order from here again and honestly surprised they are still in business as I think there would be a good handful of health code violations between the restaurant ambiance and the food itself. Save yourself the money and find somewhere else to eat. Or at least don't order anything with raw fish. read more

If you want Asian food of any sort - check out Lotus! They have Japanese, Chinese, and sushi and from everyone I know has loved what they've selected. I personally like the house special chow mein - it comes with shrimp, chicken, beef and Asian vegetables in a yummy sauce and these awesome crispy ramen noodles. It's the perfect blend of crunchy with the sauce. COVID fun tip: if you want to see your friends while also social distancing, my friends and I got carry out from Lotus and then sat in the empty nearby Kohl's parking lot with chairs and blankets and "tailgated" from a distance. I do recommend dressing warmly as it's often colder by Oak Creek. This tip would work for lots of different places and you are supporting local while also getting some in person contact! We love Lotus...yes they have great sushi, but there is more to Lotus than their fabulous food, it is their fabulous service! We have tried sushi all over Milwaukee but we always end up making the quick drive to Lotus because we always enjoy our time here. Lotus is not the place you go for the ambience....not that there is anything wrong with it, it just isn't brimming with gorgeous decor. BUT what Lotus lacks in decor they make up for in friendly service. After coming to Lotus once, the staff remembered us from our previous visit and even noticed our son wasn't with us! In the day and age of average customer service Lotus stands out in our book. We only order sushi when we go to Lotus but it is always fresh and delicious! I love that they will let us tweak our order and that they make recommendations. The menu has a lot of different options and we have never had anything other than deliciousness served at Lotus. Prices are very reasonable and on Mondays they have 1/2 off many of their rolls. They do have a couple of hibachi tables and a large Chinese menu although we have not tried anything yet. read more

Lotus is okay for sushi and Chinese. You can't go wrong with the standard Chinese fare, but on Mother's Day we took mom here and there were two sushi Special rolls listed on the blackboard that caught my eye: Kika Roll and Angel Roll. The Kika, with mango looked really promising, but the (new) Angel Roll won out! The Angel has asparagus, tuna, avocado, topped with crunch, tuna and salmon and a few kinds of colorful sauce. It was pretty good. Oh, I forgot to mention we ordered crab rangoon to start, and their homemade sweet and sour sauce smelled like old feet! We didn't even realize what it was until we requested some sweet n' sour sauce and our server motioned to the container. It didn't look (or smell) anything like sweet 'n' sour sauce I've tasted. I was afraid to even put it to my lips it smelled so funky. Atmosphere is just okay- Monday and Tuesday are half price sushi night and I'll be sure to get my mom over her sushi phobia before the summer's out! read more

Pictured is the Oak Creek roll. I have been coming here for several years, since they opened. It has been a consistently good dining experience and a favorite restaurant for myself and my family. I prefer dining in, the sushi isn't quite the same experience as take out but that's a matter of preference for me. One of the things I like best about Lotus is there is a full Chinese menu as well as Japanese. When I dine with people who do not like sushi, they can always find something appealing from the Chinese section. I think this is the first three star review I am leaving where I am planning on coming back. Lotus is one of those pan-Asian restaurants that tries to be something for everyone and falls short. The Chinese food isn't very good, however the sushi was amazing and at a great price. If you come here, the good parts are the service is phenomenal and the place is clean. The sushi is fresh, the rice nicely done (a bit too little vinegar for my taste but that's just a preference thing). I had the unagi, tuna and salmon. I also had a weirdly bland beef Chinese dish that I can't even remember while still sitting at the table at the restaurant. The portion was huge, and if I had eaten breakfast or lunch I would have skipped it. The saving grace was that the rice was really well done. However egg roll was greasy and didn't taste good, and the won ton soup was ok, but not well balanced (the cabbage was bitter, the broth needed salt, the me dumplings were kind of blah). I will be coming back for the bento boxes and Japanese food. Everything I had from the Japanese menu was delicious and the Chinese menu was gross. read more

First time here and Loved it!!! Very nice decor -- not cheap looking. No awful Asian music. Japanese, Chinese, Hibachi, and Sushi. If you can't find something here... you're not hungry. Started with Veggie Tempura. Not greasy, light coating and delicious! My daughter had Sushi and loved it. They offer raw, cooked AND deep fried! She also ordered Veggie Fried Rice and got a huge portion for $8... it was great. I had Hung Sue Chicken and got a huge serving as well w rice. We left full and have leftovers for lunch! Service excellent. Plenty of parking. Also kid's food - burgers etc. The reviewer that saw them tossing boxes out missed out on great food. Inside is very clean. I can't wait to bring my friends. I've typically given this cuisine a try in Wisconsin, but they just don't compare when thinking IL just over the border. When you walk in there isn't really any ambiance, it seems that they prefer you order to go. Gave these guys a try, and let's say it left me and my friend hanging around the porcelain throne that evening. Should the doctor require you to go on a cleanse this might be the place for you verse acquiring laxatives from your local pharmacy.outside of the food the service wasn't anything special. read more

My first plate was inhaled so I didn't get a pic of my first 3 rolls. Definitely recommend the salmon sushi if you enjoy hIgh quality fish. It's always horrible here. Two visits -- two disappointments. Had to come a second time because that is where my coworkers told me we had to go for a colleagues last day at work. The sushi was mostly rice and panko inside. I didn't taste a lot of fish. At least one of my pieces I had to spit out because it had a mouthful of what felt like 20 little silicone beads in it! I guess it was a bunch of grains of uncooked or dried out rice and it was very nasty to bite into. Not sure how many more were that way because I stopped eating!! At this eatery you pick a miso soup OR a salad for the lunch special (some places give you both) and the salad is SO SMALL!!!!! Much smaller than I've ever seen anywhere else! I've had enough of this menu's Japanese dishes to say that it's finally about time we tried the Chinese. It's embarrassing, really. We've been here probably 5-10 times, and still, not even a wanton wonton. Our fault, not yours. We'll fix it next time. That said, everything here is pretty much great. I've had legit authentic rolls, and big ol Americano frou frou rolls that have all been delish! The bentos and tempuras and hibachi choices are all on point. They know what they're doing here, for sure. If there had ever been any problem, it's always been with the sashimi, which is my favorite, so yeah, it's sad... but forgivably rare. The most recent mishandle was ice cold tako. I placed the larger cuts on the edge of my wife's warm hibachi plate, and at the end of my meal I had perfectly chilled (warmed, lol) octopus. When Lotus first opened, the restaurant had a bit of a struggle for customers. It is a prime location for a restaurant, but not the first place one would look for sushi. I do think that the choice to have the restaurant split to be half Chinese food and half Japanese food is quite unique. And no matter which side you prefer to be seated in, both menus are available to be ordered from. The entire restaurant is clean and well maintained. From the sushi bar to the bathrooms, nothing is out of place. The staff is friendly and always greeted me with a warm welcome. Food has always been fresh and well made, be it dine in or take away. Prefer a little extra sauce or no wasabi paste? Just let the chef or waitress know and they will be more than happy to accommodate your order. The one thing I am not pleased with is the price of food. The menu has seen three different revisions in just 2008 with regard to the Japanese menu. The worst jump was during a change-over of some staff back in May. While it's not completely unreasonable, it was inconvenient for my normal dinner-for-two to go from $35 to almost $50 with tip. read more
