Disappointing visit here for lunch. The restaurant wasn't too busy but it seemed everything moved slower. The place also seemed dirty or dingy, especially the fish tank area. Our server took a while to stop by for our drink orders and longer for our lunch order. It then took at least 10-15 minutes after soup/salad for our entrees to come out. I get it if the kitchen is busy but I watched my sushi platter sit on the bar for a while before our server came back to deliver it. He also didn't stop by much - hard to find to grab our bill. That took another 15 minutes. Frustrating as we saw other tables get helped promptly by many of the other servers. While this is a normally good, quick lunch spot, we didn't leave until maybe an hour and a half later. The food was okay but not worth the poor service. I did hear that the chicken hibachi was good but would've been better with yum yum and ginger sauce like what's available at other restaurants. I now have been to this restaurant twice for birthday celebrations. I absolutely love the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. If it's your birthday they will sing HBD to you and you get a complimentary ice cream. If you never been to a hibachi restaurant before then this will be a great experience for you. All of your food is prepared right in front of you. Your table is assigned a chef, the waiter will take your order and the chef will prepare your meal to your liking. My favorite part is when they light up the grill ! The drinks are good and strong. The chef will give you a shot of saki in your mouth and he will pop shrimp into your mouth LOL. The chef's are very entertaining and will make you laugh. No matter if you're a meat eater or veggie eater the have something for everyone. I personally like the sea and land platter combo. It comes with chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon over your choose of ride or noodles with mixed vegetables. If you're going as a couple then this would be great. Oh if you're going to celebrate a birthday the will not seat you until your party arrives. We had a reservation for a hibachi dinner for a birthday celebration. The chef makes it a very fun, interactive experience by flipping broccoli to each person and having them catch in their mouth, pouring sake to everyone individually in their mouths (don't worry, the bottle is still far enough away and doesn't touch), and putting on a cooking show. You can pick your protein and pick if you want noodles or fried rice. It also comes with miso (clear) soup, a ginger dressing salad, 2 shrimp per person, vegetables, and a small cup of ice cream or sherbet. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. They brought the birthday girl a "fancy"chocolate ice cream dessert and balloon hat. The service was excellent during the meal. Constantly removing dirty dishes, refilling drinks. The worst part of the night was we felt very RUSHED to leave. I had taken 2 bites of my meal, and the server came to me with a box asking if I need to pack my leftovers. It was off-putting. Solid! I will say I enjoyed my time at Fujiyama. My biggest down fall was no yum yum sauce! I truly enjoy Hibachi style food and don't even have to have the experience portion. We did not sit at the big table as there is often a wait for that. However I will say the service at our table was pretty good as our waiter helped us navigate the many options they had. Incredible experience overall! The place is clean and the staff is very kind. We made a reservation for the hibachi area for a birthday and had a great experience! The hibachi food comes with salad that's fresh with a nice ginger dressing. Clear soup that's well flavored. And whatever protein and base you requested whether it's rice or noodles. Between the two I highly recommend the noodles as they were seasoned better and the rice seemed a little plain. All the portions were huge! The shrimp, steak, and fish were all great! My husband had and loved those along with the chicken - which was his favorite! They then bring everyone ice cream for dessert that's in a small prepackaged container. It took a couple hours but overall was really fun and the chef made it very interactive for everyone!! I am absolutely disgusted by my experience at Fujiyama. We went there to celebrate my birthday, and instead of having a fun night, the hibachi chef made repeated sexual comments toward me and my girl cousins the entire time. It was inappropriate, unprofessional, and completely disgusting. It was so bad that the family sitting across from us asked if we were okay after he walked away. We didn't speak up because we were uncomfortable and worried about how our food would be handled while he was cooking. I'm posting this because no young group of girls -- especially anyone under 18 -- should ever have to deal with that kind of behavior. I will never be coming back. read more

We were on the hunt for a later evening dinner spot (8:30ish). My dining companion was in the mood for poke, I was in the mood for soup and maybe sushi--Fujiyama fit the bill for all. Their cocktails are all very sweet/rum based, so I stuck with water. We started the evening with tempura vegetables, which came out piping hot and delish (zucchini, broccoli, eggplant, spaghetti squash, and asparagus). For our main, my dining companion decided to go for sushi over poke (yay!) and we got the love boat for two. It came with fresh salads with ginger dressing (amazing) and miso soup (fine). The love boat was incredibly ample (see the pics) and was plenty for probably 3-4 people. In addition to the assorted sashimi and sushi, it comes with a dragon roll, california roll, and a tuna roll. The salmon was perfect (fresh and beautiful) as was the tuna. I'm not a big fan of escolar (not a fan of oil fish in general). The dragon roll was perfect. The california roll was aok and the tuna roll was by far our least favorite thing on the board (fishy and not really fresh tasting). Our server was attentive and kept our water glasses filled. Terrible experience! Sat down and after bringing me a soda had a bowl of what they called soup and a salad buried beneath an enormous amount of dressing basically thrown on to my table. The soup appeared to be some warm water with a little salt in it and a couple of small things floating on top. That is what it tasted like anyway. I chose to eat the water first while it was hot while my salad soaked up the huge amount of dressing becoming soggy. When my chicken and steak combo came things didn't get any better. The steak which I ordered medium was tougher than the beef jerky that I make at home. The chicken was hard and crusty and dried out. When the bill came it was $36.65 after the $4.50 tap diet pepsi was added in (costs about a nickel). I eat out daily and this place had bland awful food at ridiculous prices! Stay away! read more

Fujiyama makes me happy. The sushi rolls are filled with fresh ingredients and they are BIG. Service is kind and fast. My favorite rolls are tuna, spicy tuna, Philadelphia, and shrimp tempura. Husband and I shared the spicy tuna jalapeno popper appetizer and a couple sushi rolls (golden dream roll and sunshine roll) - would highly recommend the golden dream roll but would probably try something other than the sunshine roll. I have been driving past this place probably a 1000 times or more over the years since I have lived here and I shop in the strip mall but I never made it over until today. The place is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. They have a a beautiful coral salt water tank as you walk in which is very cool. The right is the sushi room and the left is the teppanyaki grill area with a small bar separating them. The place is nice looking with booths and tables. I had a water with my lunch that came in a real glass with a lemon wedge in which is very cool for ice water. Service seemed kind of slow at first opening but not horrible and with all the people shortage it didn't factor into the star rating at all, we can't fill positions where I work and help wanted signs are everywhere so I get it. I don't do sushi a lot and it's not that I don't like sushi because I do but I'm just not a fan of all the white rice in it. The main reason I went here is because they have soft shell crab tempura on the menu and soft shell crab is not on many menus to start. I would also have a roll of some sort to accompany my crab. Sushi is confusing because there are so many different choices and it all sounds good so where to start and the raw roll section was where I went with the yellowtail spicy roll. The raw roll came fast and looked good with a nice presentation and it only had a thin layer of rice on the outside. The yellowtail spicy roll was delicious with the sticky rice not being bad when you use teriyaki sauce on it. The soft shell crab tempura looked good on a bed of tempura vegetables and very good with a nice crispy coating. The dipping sauce was a good compliment. I didn't get through it all because I was full but I had a sweet potato, full mushroom and a broccoli flower as the tempura vegetables. Overall it's a nice place with good food tucked away in a strip mall in West Allis and I would definitely recommend giving them a try and check out my pictures. read more

Great hibachi and sushi spot. The tabletop hibachi chefs are both entertaining and experienced. I tried the tempura shrimp appetizer, and it was excellent, my wife had the vegetable variety and said it was wonderful as well. The dinner included a tasty salad with a ginger infused dressing and a bowl of soup. I had the steak and chicken hibachi combo, which included fried rice, vegetables and a couple of shrimp. The chef put on a great show with lots of fire, flying shrimp and flying utensils. All the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our server was wonderful and kept our sodas topped off at all times, she also got an order of white rice for our daughter with no problem. This is a fun place to celebrate a birthday, they play a techno rendition of Happy Birthday with disco ball lights and all. Good food, awful service! First time at Fujiyama tonight and did not have the best service. Let me speak towards all the good things- The food was good, the chef was talented and entertaining and we came back home with tons of food and a full belly. The service tonight unfortunately was an absolute nightmare. The server was asked for large Saki on 3 seperate occasions and she didn't bring us any. We had to ask the person serving us water to bring us some. When the food was ordered, the server came back and said that they were out of lobster and she asked us if she can get us extra rice or noodles to replace the lobster Haha! Like what! You're going to charge us the full price , not give us lobster and give us rice and noodles instead We are very baffled. How does one legitimize replacing the most expensive thing with the cheapest thing and charge the same amount for the entree. We were celebrating a birthday and they usually do a song and dance for it. The server forgot again and we had to ask the manager to get us a birthday celebration. A hack they love to do is upgrade their salad to the Kani Salad. I don't live in Wisconsin anymore but every time I come to visit, Fujiyama is a must. The service is always top notch. My fiance and I went in here on a Saturday night last minute. It was busy and we weren't able to get a table in the hibachi section. We didn't have reservations and it was a weekend night, so this came to us as no surprise. We were offered a table in the sushi side of the restaurant and happily accepted. We were happy to be tucked into a quiet booth instead of sitting at a hibachi table anyway! This was not my first time at the restaurant, but it was my first time getting hibachi (I went for sushi lunch specials in the past). I got a cup of hot green tea which I really liked. I ordered the filet and scallops hibachi dinner meal, and my fiance got the filet meal. Both of these come with clear soup and a house salad with ginger dressing. The clear soup is delicious! It's a simple soup, but either way, we both liked it a lot. The ginger dressing could have been better, but it wasn't bad by any means. The hibachi meals come with whatever protein you choose, shrimp, a choice of rice, fried rice, or noodles, and plenty of vegetables. I wanted to try out their noodles, so we ordered a side of these on top of the fried rice we both chose with our entre. The servings were huge! We both enjoyed everything. Our filet was cooked a perfect medium rare. My scallops were also done nicely, lots of flavor and not chewy at all. The fried rice was decent. The veggies were awesome. Most hibachi places do a mixture of onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. They had those vegetables as well as carrots and broccoli too. I loved all of them. The noodles were good, but fried rice is my preference with this kind of meal so I probably wouldn't get them again. Hibachi is usually a generous portion, so we both took home leftovers. We also got a scoop of green tea ice cream for dessert. Yummy! Our server was extremely friendly and always checking up on us. For a price point reference- a sweet potato (vegetarian roll) cost $5.50 and a tofu teriyaki meal runs around $18. Hibachi and huge sushi boats are fan favorites and they also sell beer and other beverages. This place gets busy especially for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Before you head here check online for any current coupons or promos. They had a $5 off coupon online we were able to use. They also have a fun, kitschy birthday tradition that involves a balloon hat, birthday song, IG picture and ice cream. Overall it's a fun, affordable place great for the whole family/large groups. Only drawbacks - service is hit or miss and sometimes you have to remind servers what exactly is included in your meal choice like the soup. Over the past 2 years my boyfriend has been bringing me here for dinner. I have never been disappointed. We always sit on the sushi side and have tried many of the dishes. One of my favorite entries is the Poke bowl. My boyfriend loves the sushi. Futo Maki hands down is one of his favorites and now one of mine! Thankfully it's been someone else paying for me to try their sushi had the California Roll And the crab rolls several times. To me it's very dry sushi should be moist in my mind not dry I'd say they are fairly slow of service freindly but slow. When we order it's take out as we are on the go. I get it the sushi is cooked and it should be heated but moist it was not. I prefer my sushi moist and a little liquidy. It's never been this way even if I ask... I wouldn't recommend the sushi. If you're celebrating your bday, Fujiyama never fails to greet you in the most cheerful way. You'll feel like a celebrity with a photo with your loved ones and if you'd like have the opportunity to post it on their welcome wall. They post the photos for people celebrating their birthdays each month. Their food has always been tasty. I usually get the miso soup and salmon anything roll or sashimi. Great flavor. Maybe a little less rice, (for less carbs)but I think that's how most rolls are. Their hibachi and teriyaki are also good. If you come with a group, you can sit in the hibachi area to watch the chef entertain you with their egg catching egg rolling onion volcano flame throwing skills. I went on a Monday night during the July 4th holiday weekend and they were SUPER busy! I would definitely recommend a reservation if you have a group bigger than 4 during a busy dinner time. I would say if you come during a busy time, you will definitely have a lot of time to decide on what to order if you're not on the hibachi side of the restaurant. I got a Taro bubble tea, pork gyoza and a tonkatsu don. If you get one of the Don bowls, they are gigantic!!! 1 bowl is a serving for 2 (mine had 2 tonkatsu on it). It was very good and I ended up taking half a bowl home. Service is fine, but slow. I got seated right away as walk-ins and we got hand washing cloths at the beginning of the meal and someone will come around to fill up your water every once in a while. It took a long while for my food to come (was with 1 friend) and if you get one of the combos with soup and salad, don't get an appetizer or else you'll be kinda full by the time the main dish gets to you. The restaurant was understaffed where they could've had 1-2 more servers. They have a gluten free option on their menu which made my friend happy! The menu has a lots of traditional Japanese dishes to choose from. Fyi they still have their plexiglass dividers up which I thought gave a decent amount of safety and a lot of their staff still wore masks, even though the mask mandate isn't in place anymore. just needed more staff during the holiday weekend read more

Hibach is a hit or miss. Today it was a miss. There are different chefs here along with several grill tables. The chef we had cut the chicken way too small. It was the first protein on the grill and last thing off. The table behind us had chicken cut up twice the size of ours. Fried rice and veggies were good.
