We went to the Lost Roo as recommended by the receptionist at our hotel and were so happy that we did! I had the steelhead mac&cheese and it was absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting there to be very much salmon, cause let's face it- usually restaurants like to be on the cheap side for that stuff (especially salmon). I was so pleasantly surprised when my plate came and there was a good serving of salmon mixed with the pasta. My husband and I were so happy with the food that we went back for the second night of our stay in Long Beach. I had the fisherman's chowder and was once again really happy with my decision. Just enjoyed the Thursday Prime Rib dinner when we rolled into town today. Reliably good- large portion of buttery mashed potatoes and green beans served on plate. Kids' meals are affordable $4/ $5 and my children never turn down a nice crispy tater tot which is a fun substitute for usual French frie fare. Mahi Mahi tacos were nice and fresh; light cabbage slaw and enjoyed the plating with sour cream on the side and no cheese which I prefer. This place is consistently good, and we have never waited for a table as the restaurant is quite large- even if parking lot is full they will have a table for you! read more

So. Went to the lost roo for dinner tonight with my lady who got a gift certificate. Asked for medium rare stake and got raw. Waitress took it back and came over to tell us it was medium rare per the cook. I like medium rare to be kinda red not purple. Still had to pay for it. I called them and after asking for the owner, who's in charge, who's the manager, i finally got an ok to come in tomorrow to maybe get a refund. This os not a slight for the restaurant. This place has good food most of the time. But, tonight the help sucked. read more

Looked at menu prices seemed high but place was clean and people seemed happy. Place order for 2 roo burgers one with tots one with fries and a side of tartar sauce. Burgers come out rare at best. Did not ask for rare nor did waitress ask how we wanted our burgers cooked. Stated our concerns to waitress and she took them away and brought them back ten minutes later same burgers with now cold fries and tots. Burgers were still undercooked bleeding and cold in spots. I asked waitress to take it away she took one burger off the bill. We didn't eat either burger but did drink one beer and a glass of water. Quite unhappy that a "skilled" wait person couldn't handle getting a customers order communicated to cooks and then still charge for it. read more

The Lost Roo is a sports bar, but it has enough appeal to pull in families, or anyone who wants a simple meal in a clean, well-lit place. Let's be clear about what it is not: it is not fine food. They have good burgers, decent fish and chips (though there is better on the peninsula), and a number of other dish I haven't yet tried, including pasta. I've had a blue cheese burger (good), and a chicken Ceasar salad (passable). The service is reasonably attentive when they're less than half full, but stretches out somewhat when they get busy, as you might expect. The staff means well, but needs a little more experience. Three stars is no slam at the Roo -- just an indication that it is not a cloth napkin and tablecloth sort of place, nor does it try to be. I reserve four and five starts for truly outstanding food. The Lost Roo is good addition to the peninsula, and I hope it succeeds. read more

This was a fantastic experience. Super friendly staff, no wait at 6:30 on a Saturday night and the food was fabulous. We had the salmon mac n cheese, fisherman's chowder, and crab melt with super tasty cranberry salad. The only way it could have been better was if we'd had a coupon! So, we went here twice on our vacation. The first time everything was perfect. The food, the service, the atmosphere...all great. The second time we called in our order to go because we anticipated it being very busy. Well, our order got a bit messed up do to the business they were encountering. The manager personally apologized to us, gave us a bottle of wine and two desserts. I've never had a restaurant make things right in such a big way. The burger was good and an interesting mix of different meat cuts. And the fries were absolutely fantastic! If these were the only components to the meal, this would have been a four/five star review. I ordered a roo-ben. Cute name! But the meat is so fatty it was inedible. Every bite yielded a gut wrenching crunch of biting into thick, hard fat. It was too hard to chew through and I ended up pulling a piece of every bite out of my mouth. The bread, while nice in flavor, couldn't hold up and quickly became soaked. The sandwich was exceptionally disappointing. In terns of atmosphere, the lay out is nice and unique. We have always enjoyed "The Roo" for a casual dinner or lunch. I am at a loss as to why new owners feel compelled to make changes to a restaurant that has developed a stellar formula for success. Last weekend we visited for dinner and, as usual, tried to order a glass of white wine. We were advised by the waitress that they are "changing the selection" and ONLY offered pinot gris or chardonnay from the barrel. We asked for taste, which was brought at room temperature, or warmer. We nevertheless ordered 2 glasses of pinot gris, and when it arrived, properly cool, I found it undrinkable. The waitress did take it back and not charge us, but I begged her to please tell the new owner that unless they return to offering guests a selection of wine by the glass, other than the rot gut that is now being served, we will take all of our casual dining to The Pickled Fish. read more

This place advertises the NFL Sunday Ticket.... however, apparently this bar is a "primarily Seahawks" place, despite advertising the Sunday Ticket. We called, prior to coming, about watching a different game and were told that they could probably change one of the EIGHT tv's they have (and advertise on their website) to our game of choice. However, after we arrived and ordered a drink we were refused. They had one game on a different tv, but it apparently couldn't be changed to the game we would like to watch. Question, if this is a "touristy" area, shouldn't you play games from all over the country to appease your tourists..... especially when u advertise the Sunday Ticket? Funny part is, we own a house here and will not be returning to this place because of their lack of ability and refusal to accommodate their customers. read more
