You know when I moved to Beaufort a few years back I would have praised Lost Local for days to anyone asking. As a matter of fact, I was doing that very thing and a friend gave me a gift certificate to it. Went in tonight to a completely dead crowd of many 15 people and was told "seat yourself". My husband and I sat at a four top. We were immediately told "four tops are for four people". It was quite embarrassing to be asked to move tables after we were told to seat ourselves. I turned to the bartender whom I have tipped for years and asked if they were kidding me only to be further embarrassed by his smart mouthed response. They have lost a local for sure. The beer selection is always changing! My husband enjoys telling the bartender to surprise him with something different and is never disappointed. We recently visited the Lost Local and were happy to find the same wonderful bartenders Eric and Jeff working there. The ambiance in Lost Local is cozy + cool... loud! But, cozy + cool. I hate to sound cheesy, but as an out-of-towner I lowkey did feel like a local there-- which could just be Beaufort's vibe as a whole. I'm not gonna lie. I don't think the tacos are that great. They have so many options that sound amazing, but at the end of the day I think they're trying to do too much-- and simpler, more flavorful tacos would be better. I got the mac + cheese taco which was pretty good, and the ahi tuna taco that was severely lacking in flavor. The tuna was fresh and good quality, but the entirety of the rest of the taco was just raw veggies and nothing else to add to the tuna. My husband did not enjoy his tacos and thought they were decent, but rather bland as a whole. I got two drinks that were very yummy. It was not a horrible meal by any means, but nothing to write home about, and we would not return if we're ever back in Beaufort. read more

This place is amaze balls. Get. The. Tacos. I Got pork belly taco & carnitas (yes both, don't judge me) these are gourmet tacos, each with their own garnishes to enhance the meat. I love that so much thought went into what is taken for granted by others. Great beer selection tho in cans (better rotating selection that way). And the service? Unfortunately the food was unimpressive along with dismal service and possible nepotistic treatment. Sat for quite some time prior to server coming to the table for drink orders. Once drinks were ordered it took an additional 10 minutes. Food was unimpressive and just okay. Atmosphere was nice and establishment was clean. Overheard a family of four asking for seating and was told there would be a 30 minute wait even though there were multiple tables open. Bar was completely open but the restaurant would not allow kids to sit at the bar. Funny thing was that the bartenders small kids were sitting at the bar for the entirety of our dining experience. Not a place that we believe we would return. Pretty certain the family that was not seated will not return either. read more

I met a dear friend from Bluffton to have lunch. A friend of theirs suggested this place for us. It was pretty quiet when we showed up at 11 AM, so we grabbed some seats at the bar. Turns out it was tasty, refreshing and a nice start. We started with bang bang shrimp, yum! Sauce is served on the side, which I really liked. Then it was decision time on the tacos. I am going to be honest here, there are no wrong choices! I tried the pork belly and mac & chicken tacos. They are not shy on portions, so two were more than enough for me. Midway thru I ordered another drink, the bees knee, which is on their menu. Oh my goodness, I will be dreaming about that yummy concoction for awhile! Continuing our tour around Beaufort, we stopped at Lost Local on a Thursday night. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who told us to pick a table. Once seated, we noticed that our table was dirty, within seconds and without being flagged down, our waiter, Eric was at our table and said, "before we get started tonight, let me deep clean this table" and for the rest of the evening, you couldn't have asked for a better waiter. Eric worked so hard, that my wife asked him if he was one of the owners, (he is not). Being our first visit, we asked for some recommendations. Before answering, Eric took a few minutes to ask us what we liked e.g.- blackened, fried, pork, fish, etc., and then he gave his recommendation. My wife started with a First Class Margarita, (ample amount of Tequila) by the time our Nachos and tacos arrived, she was a bit flushed. We tried four different tacos, shrimp, carnitas, beef barbacoa and fish. I preferred the barbacoa and shrimp and my wife preferred the carnitas and shrimp. The carnitas and blackened shrimp tacos were bursting with flavor. The barbacoa was very good by itself (I ate most of the barbacoa off the taco, before I ate the taco). The fish itself was good, but the filling inside the taco was kind of bland. Looking forward to a return visit to try the Boom Boom Shrimp and some other tacos. My family & I went in for dinner last night and we were so deeply disappointed. We had to wait for a table, which was fine, and once seated we were quickly attended to by a server. She was nice enough. Took our drinks & app order, as well as the kids' meals. We weren't in a rush, so we waited to order our entrees until after our apps came. It took forever for the apps to appear, the server didn't come back very frequently to refill waters/drinks, etc and she brought the wrong drink a couple of times. The apps were fine, once they arrived, and we then placed our entree order. 2 tacos for my husband & 2 tacos for myself. An HOUR & A HALF LATER - they came out. All the while, our server seemed to be avoiding our table and whenever she would come by, it was "they're coming up right now. I'm so sorry!" Umm - we were livid. We just wanted to leave. The tacos were not worth the ridiculous wait. When the server came over to check on how our food was, she said "I know it was a really long wait. So to make up for that, we'd like to offer you both a free shot of tequila!" Ummm. We're there with our kids. We have to drive home. You should have comped our entire bill. We then waited FOREVER for our check. Then she forgot to bring our credit card back. omg. It was a disaster. We were there for almost THREE HOURS. We left there irritated, and still hungry. We are locals and will not be returning, nor will we recommend this place to anyone else. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were super excited to enjoy some tacos, but after waiting a long time for them to arrive we had to choke down the dry pork belly and fish tacos. The real problem though was with the service. I could have overlooked the dry tacos, but our drinks sat empty the entire time we were there. We had a beer and an ice tea but neither was refilled ever. This was a major problem given the dryness of the tacos. The server talked and refilled every other table but ours. We couldn't even get his attention. We are full time RVers and sample food all over the country but this one ranks as one of the worst services we have had on our journey. If I were you I would go across the street to the BBQ joint. The food is good and drinks are filled regularly. (The only other place we have tried here yet) read more
