We have lived in the Beaufort area for almost 2 years. Surprisingly enough, we have not tried lost local as of yet. Until today... Sat at the bar, service was fantastic. Ordered a couple of blackened, fish tacos, A skinny margarita, and a couple (actually, three) of northern California IPAs. Everything was very tasty, and we will be excited to come back for sure. When in the mood for all things tacos and tequila, this place is it! Loved the Sangarita accompanied with the Queso. The tacos were delicious but a bit messy, so just beware if out on a date. We got a chance to try 7 different tacos, but I highly recommend the island shrimp and the Deep South Gullah. On the other hand, I didn't love the Hawaiian chicken taco. We had the beef barbacoa taco, fish tacos and pork belly taco. The fish tacos were good, pork belly as well. The beef barbacoa was very spicy , too spicy for me. The fried pickles were very good. Our server seemed lacking in product knowledge. She had no idea what the fish was in the tacos and no idea what was spicy in the barbacoa, Luckily I was not allergic. I stopped into Lost Local with girlfriends after a day of shopping. This great storefront location with a cool name drew us in. Lost Local has a great look and feel. Sleek and modern with a vintage touch, creates a nice, comfortable space. We sat at the big bar flanking the left side of the room instead of a table. The bartender was sooo nice. He was friendly and helped us choose great craft cocktails. I was very impressed with the tons of options. I went with some sort of lavender martini and LOVED it. My friends ordered unique & delicious cocktails too. We also tried the chips and queso just as a quick snack. The chips were ok but the queso was rich and creamy. Wow - starting to lose hope for finding a good place to eat in Beaufort. Then we were saved by this fabulous establishment. We got some kind of margaritas that were the special and they were very special. We got a good variety among the 4 of us and everything was just amazing. Spent a weekend visiting a girlfriend and we came in for lunch on a Saturday. It was not busy so we chose a table by the window. Loved the atmosphere here. Ate here last weekend on the first night of our first visit to Beaufort. The meal was excellent! The tacos were simple but delicious and stuffed beyond what I'm accustomed to here in Virginia. However, the star of the meal was the shrimp appetizer we got. I love shrimp and this was the best I've ever had. I'm on the website now trying to find a place to request the receipe. The shrimp was served hot, in shell while de-veined and in an awesome creole broth. I wanted to go back a second time in the same long weekend to get this dish again but settled for visiting again just to pick up a logo shirt. Popped in for lunch will exploring downtown. It lived up to it's high recommendation. Beer selection is all cans or bottles, no drafts but the selection is sizable. The Menu is mostly tacos. We got a Boom Boom shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were very fresh. Then three tacos. An ahi tuna, blackened mahi-mahi and a carnitas. All were delicious. We arrived in town with an appetite and this place looked good. There was only a couple other people in the restaurant but it was like 4 pm. The place looked very cool and when we saw the menu I was even more excited. We had margaritas and they were delicious. I couldn't decide on clams or mussels so we had both and they were both amazing. For our main dishes, I got the Taco Salad with chicken and it was perfect. My husband ordered two tacos (they are big so two was plenty). He got an Island Shrimp and a Carnitas. Both were delicious (although he loved the shrimp more). I got the muscles appetizer which was well flavored and a good portion size if you want to get it as a meal. My partner got the peel and eat shrimp that was extremely flavorful She also got the shrimp tacos with the pineapple salsa. We got the Mac and cheese that was super creamy and the fries which were the perfect crunch. The tacos were overpriced. 5$ a pc and they were tiny, not hearty or anything too special. A strong $3.50. And yes I'm familiar with these taco truck, street style tacos. We appreciated the 2 vegetarian options, although they were out of 1. Drinks were awesome, alcohol was definitely there! Chips and queso cheese were pretty good. The service could've been better in my opinion. I do feel the waitress can make or break an experience. We did say it was our first time, minimal response. "Any questions let me know." I was hesitant to get a taco when he said they only used corn tortillas because usually I ask for flour, but what was in the taco made it so good that I really didn't mind the corn tortilla! We started with the boom boom shrimp and it was great, fried to perfection. Everything in my taco had so much flavor also. The drink selection was great as well. Only Thing that we ordered today that was good is the crab chowder. The bang bang shrimps batter was too dense and just held the oil... tasted like the oil needed to be changed. I was disappointed when the same batter was on my fish taco. Which by the way was missing toppings! No pico de Gallo, plantains, or blood orange drizzle. My island shrimp taco was also missing the avocados, and jalapeños. Mac and cheese came out cold. And not very tasty. I just would not recommend people to eat here. But hey maybe their other tacos taste better but definitely over priced in my opinion. $5 for a below average taco... no thanks. read more

Horrible experience, and food was not good at all. We ordered 4 different tacos, and hated all of them. There is very limited seating and we were placed at the tiniest table for two we have ever been seated at. So small you had to hold your purse in your lap and our umbrella's. (it rained most of the weekend), had to lean up against the table and kept falling into the floor at other patrons feet. Not to mention the fact you barely had room for a napkin on the table, and it was isle seating. The waitress was mediocre and though concerned with one of our drinks, never bothered to ask the other who's was near empty at the same time if they wanted a refill. She just grabbed one glass and bolted off. We tried the island shrimp taco-it was very sour, fish taco- came a second to del tacos, the Gullah taco-tasted like leftover dried pork and was very over powering, and the last was some sort of roasted beef taco the waitress suggested. It was so sour I couldn't eat it. Don't know what most people are ordering when they come, but it must not be the tacos we ordered. We come to Beaufort every year, and this is by far one of the worst restaurants we have tried. Not reasonable either at 5.99 for tiny small tacos. read more
