We frequent this restaurant. My favorite was the Gullah taco, but now that we don't eat meat, I order the fish tacos, ahi tuna taco, or the avocado. Friday night, we walked through town for first Friday. This month, they had the antique car group out with some cool cars. We got lucky with a table for 2, the place was packed. Often the sauces are too much for our taste, so we ordered them to come separately. That was magical. I could taste the fish and the avocado so much better. Highly recommend. Wife and I had reservation at 6 recently , we sat at the bar after being greeted at door. Our server Piper was phenomenal , she made delicious dirty martinis !!! The food has been very consistent. The margaritas well, need I say more, they're also very consistent and very good. You cannot go wrong with any of them. Every one I've had has answered questions about food and offered great recommendations on what to order. If you're going to get a taco... it has to be the Deep South Gullah. Unreal! The Pork Belly is a close second. This trip we also tried the peel 'n eat shrimp for an appetizer. Better than any seafood restaurant and honestly the best we've ever had. For dessert we ordered key lime pie.. another solid choice. Although, my absolute favorite item to order is the spicy jalapeño margarita - it definitely brings the heat. Such a cute little restaurant but it was very loud and hard to hear. When we first went in we were seated at a table. We waited and waited and waited. About 10 min had passed and no one had spoken to us, we were not able to flag anyone down. It was crazy. We moved to the bar where we got amazing service ASAP. By far the best Mexican in the low country. From the minute you walk in you're having a good time. The staff is great. You'll always want to order a double of any of their margaritas. I wouldn't say this place is "tucked away" in downtown Beaufort...I think "nestled" in the middle of downtown is a better way to say it. This weekend is the Beaufort water festival and we came early to grab lunch before going to the park. Kat had lunch here yesterday and wanted to bring me so here we are. The building is quite old but clean and offers a nice vibe. We both had the same tacos, the buffalo chicken and the southern Gullah, both of which were very fresh, tasty and the flavors were very well balanced. Now, these are $6 dollar tacos we're talking about, but two is plenty making for a $12 lunch per person which isn't bad in 2024. I wasn't going to have alcohol with lunch but I will say they have a pretty wide signature cocktail menu, so we'll have to come back one evening soon. Went here for dinner. Fun little place with good food. Our server was really friendly and the cocktails were good. We had the queso and salsa and both were good. Margaritas and specialty cocktails were also good. We tried the chicken taco salad and several different tacos. The pork belly and tuna tacos were very good. Despite the ingredients in each of them sounded like they were be packed with flavor they turned out to be kind of bland. Between everyone at our table we had the buffalo chicken, Ahi tuna, pork belly, blackened fish taco, and the special which was some kind of steak that I can't full remember. The steak and fish were probably the best out of those choices. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice with artwork everywhere. If you go here look for the tiny door along the floor on the way to the restrooms, we got a kick out of that. read more

Stopped in for a couple of tacos. I tried the grilled fish and the pork tacos. First off I'll say the pork taco had nice chunks of pork that really had a great pork taste there! The fish tacos also had chunks of fish so, protein wise, I was set. I was a little let down by the amount of green stuff on top of the corn tortilla, piled high and the protein on top of that. Made it a bit difficult to eat without everything falling to pieces. I learned, too late, to just remove about 50% of the greens and put the protein back in to make a more manageable taco to hold and eat. All in all it was good and would say it was a very fair price for two good tacos. read more

We were quoted an hour wait but it was probably close to 40 or 45 minutes. Since it was extremely busy, it was very loud and hard to really carry on a conversation with your friends. I would say this is more of a bar that also serves food. I ordered the queso blanco dip for an appetizer and was a bit disappointed. I wouldn't order it again. My friends and I were satisfied with the tacos we ordered. Definitely try the Island Shrimp taco. It was delicious. I think it's great the restaurant is adventurous in their taco recipes, so I tried the fried green tomato taco. I was not a fan but my friend loved it. I'd recommend trying this place at least once. We ordered the nachos to share without any additions but they brought them out with beef added, (which was additional charge too) and I'm a vegetarian so I couldn't eat them.
