Looking for good Mexican food and with all the reviews here we found our selves sitting at Los Tios. The bar was busy but the restaurant wasn't. The gentleman who sat us was very kind. I ordered a quesadilla with spinach and mushrooms but asked for the spinach to be removed. They did and it reminded me of another place I use to go to get my favorite quesadilla. One of my favorites for Tex-Mex in Houston! First, the decor and inside is nicely decorated. The bar area is really nice and a great place for HH. The food is awesome! Love the chips and salsa! I can't believe I have not been here yet! I was obsessed with all the food I tried. Their red salsa is my favorite in the city thus far! Our server and the Melina (sp?) were so friendly and provided great service. Very open and airy space, looks like a good spot for group lunches. This has become one of my go to TexMex places downtown. I recommend getting the enchiladas with an egg on top and washing it down with a flight of their margaritas. The servers here are super nice and have lots of recommendations if you are looking to try something new. The vibe is killer whether you are out on the patio or inside. As a young boy I enjoyed dining at the Sugar Land location, so it was a welcome surprise to discover. I must confess that I am an El Tiempo diehard, yet I have enjoyed my last 10 Mexican meals here. Golden tacos are amazing, the hard taco shell and picadillo-esque ground beef are a match made in heaven. The build your own puff taco is a very clever play on the classic dish. Part of a local chain, this location features great decor and plenty of room to stretch out, with its gorgeous wrap around bar and covered patio being highlights. We visited for a weekday lunch and were seated at a perfect secluded spot on the patio. After delighting in a couple of delicious margaritas and chips with yellow queso and salsa, we tucked into our entrees- cheese enchiladas for her and spinach enchiladas for me. The highlight, however, might have been the puffy queso, a classic Texas staple that seems to have disappeared from a lot of menus in recent years. They have a small plate of 3 nachos with cheese during happy hour. The food is also great. We usually order beef fajitas. The service is amazing. I'm torn on this because the drinks and chips were good but the service from the start left such a bad taste in our mouth that we didn't stay for long. When my wife and I came in, we made a request for the patio. We were told it would be 10-15 minutes, which was fine. After 20 minutes we asked how much longer the wait would be, to which we were informed that somehow our name had been removed. We ultimately had to wait over 45 minutes to be seated. I understand things get busy, but to lose a reservation, then have people wait more than triple the amount of time they were originally told is ridiculous. The drinks from the bar helped ease the wait, but by the time we were seated, we were so annoyed with the whole thing that we ended up just ordering an appetizer and leaving after that. read more

My family and I have been coming to Los Tios (San Felipe location) since they opened and I can easily say this is the flagship Tex-Mex spot in all of the Galleria/Tanglewood/Post Oak area. The food and margaritas are always outstanding and the restaurant itself has a an awesome ambiance. We love coming during happy hour and ordering queso puffs, margaritas, and fajitas -- it's become somewhat of a weekly tradition. Do yourself the favor and ask for Augustin to be your waiter (he usually is working in the patio area). He's hands-down one of the best waiters we've had and is also another reason why we keep coming back. We're happy to have a such a great, family-oriented restaurant right around the corner from us.
