I have never in my life left the food on the plate, pay, tip and leave, the waitress was pretty attentive so she erned her tip but the food...this place is a disgrace to Tex-Mex cuisine, it is far away from being even a hint of Mexican, in fact Los Hermanos is a disgrace to food in general all the ingredients tasted like they came out from an old can of food, the salsa from the chips tasted like marinara sauce instead of a "Mexican" salsa, overcooked meat, the best thing in here was my cup of water, the owners have two choices: 1. Redesign the whole menu and get new cooks. 2. Close down the place Come on guys you have an exceptional spot in downtown Provo, this could be good but you are screwing this up so bad. We ordered a the full fajita with half chicken half steak. What we got was 85% red onion 9% green peppers and 3% chicken and 3% steak. It was hard to find the meat. It should have been called an onion fajita. I'm so glad we paid $19 for 2 sautéed onions. I can get that for free at a salsa bar at Brasas. Also the rice was dry and just not good. The menu is TINY. I ordered the full size steak fajitas. You're unable to get the meat cooked to your liking, one grilling style fits most..ish. Tons of onions, not a ton of meat, a couple tomato slices and a couple green pepper slices. Hmm. The sides, refried beans and rice were plentiful but lacking in flavor. The food is so bland. I've been here 3-4 times over 20 years and never want to go (somehow I give them another chance and shouldn't). This last time I got the taquitos, which should have a crisp tortilla (they're deep fried after all) but these were soggy. The chicken inside had zero flavor. The rice... no flavor. We had a horrible waiter. We asked multiple times for more chips and salsa. He came out of the kitchen multiple times empty handed. About 15 minutes of no water refills Pepsi refill or chips and salsa he comes to the table and asks do you need anything. He would stop and ask other tables what they would need. Visited tonight when we were starving and walked away with uneaten food left on the plate and feeling alittle sick. We were brought red watery soup which I think was supposed to be salsa. I figured this kinda place can't really mess up fajitas. I was wrong. They were pretty much a mound of onions, with 4 slices of green pepper and maybe 10 skinny little scraps of over cooked and flavorless chicken and steak. We were meeting a couple friends for dinner and they recommended this place as they apparently are regulars here. I asked my wife what the reviews were and she reported, not very good. That said - I ordered something very safe and recommended to me (the chimichangas) and to be honest, while not super they weren't bad. The lettuce overtop was a bit excessive, the rice lacked a lot of flavor, and the meat to wrap to cheese ratios were a bit off, but honestly it was decent to munch into. For $10 I've had a lot better, but then again that was in LA where the food is amazing! My wife's experience was a bit different, not a big meat eater (she got a salad), and she hardly ate more than a couple bites. I'm definitely the foodie between the two of us, and she doesn't like eating food but for her the salad was a no go :( This place has a great location - right off the Main Street of provo, so I'm a little surprised at the food. My mom bought me a Los Hermanos shirt when I was 12 and I have been wearing it in for a free specialty drink with my meal for the last 20 years. I can't really vouch for too much on the menu (I've never ordered anything aside from the steak fajitas,) and service has definitely been on a downward slope since they've moved to the new location. However, that being said, I can't find anything like the Brisa de Mora Negra anywhere else! It doesn't qualify as a smoothie or a shake, but some magical thing in between with blackberries, strawberries & ice cream. What can I say? I never write reviews unless I accidentally eat in a sinkhole of a bland place that left me scratching my head and wondering how the hell it stays in business???? Are they a Mexican restaurant or a revamped Italian place? I guess they are Mexican since they have a Mexican blanket placed over a bad painting of the David statue. You know they had to cover up the private parts (owned by teen agers perhaps???). They did -- they covered up the David's private parts. I can't even write about their so-called salsa. Went on a Friday night and it was pretty packed! We were only 2 people so we had a 15 min wait, but those with a larger group had to wait more. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa is definitely different, not spicy at all and tastes more of like a tomato blend. I can totally understand why some may not like it because it's not your traditional salsa you would get at a Mexican restaurant. I got a chicken quesadilla and thought it tasted great! My boyfriend got an enchilada plate and he wasn't too impressed. I'd have to agree everything was just lacking a lot of flavor. The portion size was also a disappointment, very shallow dish. With a whole fajita, one pound of scrumptious shrimp is given. I don't know what ingredients they put into cook the shrimp with, but it was so flavorful!! Was excited to try the new location at the mall.....Showed up 1:45 pm on a Friday afternoon...pretty empty place...had to get table for 7 ready....took about 5 minutes so not bad. Waitress came and took orders for all waters about 5 minutes after. From there it took....about 6 minutes for the waters and chips to come out....all food was brought out 10 minutes and everyone enjoyed there food. Only real complaint was the fajitas literally came out with 4-5 strips of meat and the tamale was pretty much like a corn muffin with a little meat. Also, it can get a little too crowded, hence the four start rating. If the tables weren't quite so close together, I'd bump it up to five stars. Now the good stuff: they have awesome house made chips and salsa. I would highly recommend ordering the nachos. If you get the large size, be prepared for a GIGANTIC plate of nachos with every nacho topping generously included. Holy cow. My husband is a nacho expert and these are one of his favorite! Fantastic Mexican food, every time. I've been here a handful of times and always enjoy it. One time though, my aunt found a hair in her food so that was kind of gross but they replaced it and apologized for it. It seems like a manager type employee even came to apologize. My favorite thing here is the chimichanga, except I'm wondering if they have a smaller portion size for lunch vs. dinner? I swear I used to only be able to eat half of the meal but now I can eat most if not all of it. Also, I could use more sour cream on it. But I'm obsessed with the stuff. Los Hermanos is the Charlie Sheen of eating establishments. It looks like it might be sort of okay from the outside; but, once you're on the inside you realize what a white-hot mess you've gotten yourself into. They have received more than one "Best Mexican Food in Utah County" award in the past, which (if you've eaten there) would lead one to believe that Utah County has only this one Mexican restaurant. I once worked for a company who brought all business lunches to Los Hermanos. I always felt really bad, because the food is deficient at best; plus, I was forced to find something to eat here at least once a month. The restaurant itself is a little creepy if you really look around. There are remnants of the original building everywhere, and not in a good way; especially if you wander into the upstairs area, with its dingy darkness and creaky floors. I keep expecting to catch a glimpse of the Phantom of the Opera peering around the corner or lurking behind a curtain. On the flip side, you may be lucky enough to be seated at a window table, where you'll enjoy the lively entertainment of the foot and vehicle traffic along University Avenue. (Remember to smile and wave when all of the kids from the family of thirteen gets out of the panel-van, walks by and plants their precious little faces against the window.) Ugh, the food. Where to begin. I guess at the beginning. The chips half of their complimentary chips & salsa offering is actually pretty good. They're light and crispy, with just the right amount of grease to make the salt stick. Sometimes they even come out warm, as if they really made them there. I wish I could say that the other half of the equation is something other than the essence of bland tomato-y water. Here's how I envision it being made: Salsa Artist takes a small sip of tomato juice, then breathes the tomato air into a vat of water and adds red food coloring. It's blended completely smooth, and remains void of any flavor whatsoever. In fact, flavorless is a great word to describe all of the food at Los Hermanos. In my roughly 8 years of being coerced into coming here, I can't recall a single entree that I felt would compete with even the likes of Taco Bell. I personally prefer my flour tortilla filled with something other than 1/2 pound of mild cheddar and a mush of what I can only assume was once refried beans, then topped with shredded paper sold as lettuce. (I ordered meatless out of fear, and I'll leave it at that.) To no great surprise, there is no alcohol served at Los Hermanos. It's Provo, after all. I guess I get it. No cervesa. No tequila in the 'Ritas. No rummy blendables being magically created behind the scenes. Nada. I mention this in the event anyone out there was thinking they could come here and get the food down between sips of delicious adult beverages. Not so much. They do, however, offer a wide selection of alcohol-free drinks, for which you'll pay as if they were fully loaded. There is a bona fide audience to which Los Hermanos appeals, however. I have friends, and obviously former colleagues who love their food. And then, of course, there are those who voted Best anything for this place. These are the folks who avoid flavorful food in general. You've seen them - they dip an indistinguishable milli-corner of a chip in the juicy part of Pace Picante sauce, and proceed into full-on seizure mode due to the "heat." We all know these people. This is their place. For the rest of you who want flavorful Mexican food in Provo, do your Yelpwork and drive around a little. It's there - it's just a little more hidden than perched on the corner of University and Center. read more

I was slightly hesitant about this place based off of the reviews.. and I will say straight up that I didn't think it was near as bad as some people said. It definitely way better than taco bell. We had a bigger group and we were given pretty good service. The chips and salsa were decent. The salsa and guacamole were not amazing, but chips were pretty good and they kept bringing them out, so standard there. I will agree with a lot of people that their salsa could use some serious work. I ordered a half order of fajitas and while it wasn't the best I have ever had, it really was decently good. I got chicken and it had a good flavor to it. There were lots of reviews saying they were super small, and I didn't think so! I thought they were a find size, I was completely full and had some left. It came with a good sized plate of rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole (which wasn't the best). I mean I can't say that this was the best mexican food I have ever had, but it certainly wasn't bad.
