Taste like any other sit down Mexican restaurant. The service was average. Ambiance below average. The food taste fine though

I wish I could give this place zero stars. The food was horrible. there are a lot of reviews that I agree with 100% describing the nasty tasting food at Los Hermanos. Fortunately, our server was very nice and she said she was embarrassed when we told her that the drinks had zero flavor and we're just crushed ice with a hint of coconut. she said they have many complaints and she wished she could have warned us not to order them because they were not good at all. She informed us that we were NOT the first people to complain and that many people complain about the food and drinks and that her job was to follow the strict recipes on everything. There were seven of us, and everyone agreed that the drinks were the worst they had ever ever tasted . The food came out and looked good but that's the only positive thing I can say about the food. The nachos were basically a plate of chips with some bland beans on them a tiny amount of cheese and enchilada sauce pour generously over everything to make it appear as if there was cheese on it. it was absolutely revolting. I have never eaten such disgusting nachos in my life. I only ate a little off the top to find every little bit that may have had cheese on it but it was gross and I gave up. My daughter took two bites of her taco and almost tore a tooth out trying to bite through it.. The rice and beans tasted like they came out of a lean cuisine box. They were so dry and so disgusting. My niece ordered a steak medium and it came out burned and tough. we talked with the manager, and she was condescending and insulting just to hear her responses and her defense of what I consider to be one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The waitress was very nice . The manager did nothing to address the situation but said sorry I will have to talk to the owners. She was a young girl in her early 20s. the fact that hardly anyone was in the restaurant should have been a giveaway, especially during what should have been a busy time. Unfortunately, we looked at the two star review on yelp after we ate there.. lesson learned. Awful awful awful restaurant. I feel like we were completely swindled. This was the most disappointing dinner I've had in a while. I've eaten at the old Provo location and it was always good but this time was horrible. The whole restaurant looks run down, service is SLOW, the food was bland and gross. We asked for some hot sauce and the bottle was expired and had mold on it. Honestly, not great. The guacamole was pretty tasty. Queso was worse than cafe rio. Chips tasted stale. I got the salmon, it tasted fishy and it was overcooked. The pina colada was ok. As for service - TERRIBLE. We had a group of 10 and food came out over a 45 min span. Half the group was finished before the others sniffed their food. 3 orders were wrong. Visited recently and ordered a Los Hermanos Special. Ordered taquitos, two chicken and two beef, and the ones that were brought out with the meal were the wrong protein. When we brought it up with our waiter, they put on a glove and dug through the entree to remove the taquitos that were the wrong protein in front us and left us with the items that were correct. Horrible experience, never had this happen at another restaurant before and not impressed at all with what happened. read more

Los Hermanos has very good Mexican food. Their fresh salsa served with warm chips is the perfect way to start out your meal. We were pleasantly surprised how quickly our main dishes came out. I was not very impressed with this place. I have had many authentic and non authentic mexican food but I did not think this place did justice. I ordered a cheese quesadilla and a beef taco. The quesadilla was not very cheesy, and the way the peppers were placed inside was just awkward. With every bite you would get a sliver of pepper slide out of the quesadilla. The beef taco was very dry and the meat did not have much flavor. I also ordered the strawberry lemonade which I thought was good and appreciated strawberries mixed with lemonade instead of just flavorings. Maybe if I ordered something else I would have had a better experience but was not a huge fan and wouldn't recommend unless you are craving tacos and there is nothing else available. read more

Went to this restaurant last night for the first time. We were told about an hour wait and when we came back the hostess seemed confused. Acted like she didn't know who we were even though our name was on the waiting list. Our waiter, seemed very young and inexperienced. We didn't even get chips and salsa until asking, and that was brought with our entrées. The food didn't taste good. The rice especially, seems like a load of paprika was just dumped on white rice! Now, to make matters much, much, worse, the next day we experienced the worst diarrhea of our life! I don't think this was a coincidence.... I remember the last time we came to Los Hermanos was delicious and that was right before covid hit! So we decided to come again and it was very underwhelming. There aren't any strong flavors and everything was pretty bland. Especially the salsa. I also remember the portions being bigger. Our server was nice, but we didn't get any water refills and when the server brought the chips and salsa, he set the chips down and they went flying all over the floor. He didn't even pick them up. Anytime is Taco Time, I guess. I don't understand what gets people in the door here. It's overpriced, bland, and roughly as authentic as Nacho Cheese Doritos. I'd be surprised if anyone in the employ of Los Hermanos knows enough Spanish to pronounce its name correctly. They don't have specials, the entire menu is four basic ingredients mashed together into forty or so permutations, and the salsa tastes like pizza sauce. It should have a drive-through and a Coke Freestyle machine, but instead it has paintings on the wall and prices north of $12 a person. Bewildering. read more

If you're interested in Americanized mostly bland Mexican food then this is your place. The salsa needed lime, cilantro, and probably salt. The pork tasted like cardboard, and the fried ice cream was chewy instead of cinnamon crispy. It wasn't horrible, just barely edible. read more

We love Mexican food and Los Hermanos is a go to. They are always fast and friendly. I haven't ever had bad service, each one of our waiters and waitresses have been awesome. The food may be Americanized as to be expected at most restaurants but I also feel that still has authentic qualities to it. They keep the atmosphere authentic also. One thing that I always use to judge if I love a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. They are perfection! The chips are thin and crispy, the salsa is a good consistency and it is always on your table! The salsa is not too sweet also. I would recommend this to anyone. The fajitas are also very good here and a go to meal if I can't decide what I want off their menu. read more

Worst Mexican food ever! Service is great and the place is really cute. But the food sucks!

So.....we've eaten at Los Hermanos numerous times and the service has had a steady decline for a while now. The restaurant is unclean and the bathrooms are not kept up with during a busy flow of people. The food is substandard with it being basic Mexican food. My husband grew up locally and is very nostalgic about Los Hermanos, which is why I think they are still in business. Last night we tried to eat there and got there at 6:00 and put our name on the list. Like another recent comment, we had major issues with the hostess. Now to be fair, I don't know if she was high, but she was totally unkept in her appearance, and her mannerism and attitude with guests was totally apathetic and uninterested. After waiting for over an hour for a table, we decided to go elsewhere. When my father told her to take our name off the list (in a non-confrontational manner), she rolled her eyes at him. It's been a while now since we've had a good experience. It's really too bad. read more

This review may come off more harshly than I should, but I can't do it with Los Hermanos anymore. I had a childhood spent of wonderful memories going to the Lindon location with my family and having what I remembered as great meals. However this restaurant has some serious problems. Mexican and even Mexican American food has soul, this food does not. Not even the resemblance of what food is like south of the border. I know management had changed a few times since my childhood but at this point Los Hermanos has got to either completely reinvent what they do, or close doors and let a respectable restaurant come in that wonderful new location. The first flag was the service. We weren't attended to for 15 minutes after we were sat by the hostess. Senora our waitress was very nice and came to help us even though I'm not sure we were in her section. I think she just noticed we were waiting for a very long time. She was trying to attend to us the best she could. She made sure our drinks were full and the chips and salsa didn't run out. We arrived shortly before a big rush but made sure that our orders were in before all the other people had a chance to order. But we noticed people who sat after us were given food before us. We waited 50 minutes for our food from the time we ordered, our daughter was getting beyond fussy waiting in her high chair for that long. I was 5-10 minutes from walking out without getting our food because of the incredibly long wait. I don't have anything good to say for the food. I ordered the "citrus" salmon, apparently citrus means throw some mandarin oranges in salsa. Apparently their salsa (which had severely deteriorated in flavor and taste) has gone to their head because they soaked the entire dish in it. There wasn't a single thing that wasn't absolutely covered in salsa. The salsa used to be great, it was slightly spicy with a great flavor profile. Now it doesn't resemble anything like salsa, it's more like marinara sauce. My wife ordered a fajita that came with bone dry chicken. I'm not sure if Los Hermanos has a problem with their front house manager, back house managers, owners, or a mix of all three. But I told my wife I wouldn't be dining there anymore. Mexican food is plentiful in Utah and there are a great number of awesome places even in Utah County. Los Hermanos is just a shell of what it used to be. read more

I was visiting my sister, and her and her hubby suggested we go to this place. He said they have the best chips and salsa! They told me a story of how a few months ago, they tried to go elsewhere for their anniversary, but the wait was an hour and a half, so they ended up here. And loved it! Except they had run out of ranch. Which my sister and I love on our salad. Fast forward to now. Our server was Tanner. My sister and I asked for a salad with ranch, and explained the story. He laughed and said he believed they had ranch this time. I ordered a chili relleno with rice and beans, and extra sour cream. The chips and salsa were really good! A little went buy, and the manager came to our table to explain they had actually ran out of ranch an hour before. Wow seriously!? She offered a free dessert. The food was good! I enjoyed my chili relleno. After giving Tanner a little bit of crap for the ranch incident, he suggested the chocolate sundae dessert, which we ordered. It was pretty good. Aside from no salad, the parking lot is hectic. We also had a reservation but still had to wait over 10 minutes for our table. All in all, the place was ok. read more

I used to frequent Los Hermanos in High School quite a bit. It was actually one of my favorite places to go. So when it burned down and re-locates to University Mall, my husband and I decided to try it out again. I have to say, we were extremely disappointed. The salsa was just as I remembered it-delicious! But it didn't come out until after we had ordered and been served our drinks (which took forever). That, I think is my biggest complaint-the service was SO SLOW! There were tables around us that were leaving and/or complaining because they weren't being served. I think one table was completely forgotten. We were there for an hour and a half and the food wasn't even worth it. read more

I would never eat here again. Nobody working the in the lobby (had to ask several times to be seated or if we could just seat ourselves) Inattentive forgetful service, order came out wrong and had to wait a long time to get that, staff all looked like they were in high school. We could not see one responsible looking adult making sure things were being run right in the entire restaurant. Like, where was a manager? Food was just terrible. Bland and so underwhelming. I was sadly disappointed in not only the service but the food was terrible and the physical state this restaurant was in was disappointing. We had a group of 25 and needed somewhere big enough to fit us all. The food tasted like elementary school lunch. It came out cold, some of it burned, and the meat and fish were dry. The salsa had a metallic taste to it which leads me to believe the tomatoes came straight from a can. The servers rarely stopped by, forgot our silverware time and time again, and messed up our orders. The building was cold, quite dark, and no music was being played-it was eerie. Were frequent visitors of this restaurant. The food isn't terrible but a lot of their dishes just aren't that great. I've tried more than half of their dinner menu and the only two dishes I recommend is the fajitas and the cheese enchiladas. As for desert, I highly recommend the fried ice cream. I can not fathom how Los Hermanos has built such a positive local following. I know a few people who swear it is the best Mexican food in Utah valley... I will never take a recommendation from them again. We recently moved to Provo from San Francisco, and the worst Mexican spot in the Mission looks like a culinary beacon compared to Los Hermanos. I'd take the filthy bathrooms and cockroaches of any dive in SF over the tidy location and schizophrenic decor of Los Hermanos, if only for a little bit of seasoning and some meat that wasn't boiled. Things to avoid (based on our party's order): -Anything with spicy pork: it had no flavor at all (imagine blanched carnitas) -Anything with shredded beef: tasted canned and had no seasoning -Anything with shredded chicken: no seasoning, very unpleasant texture -Quesadillas: Super dry tortilla, uninspiring balance of ingredients -Guacamole: 95% sure they are buying guacamole from Costco and reselling it... There is no way that it was made fresh onsite, unless they are using a blender and a bunch of color stabilizers. A closing bit of armchair prognostication: Los Hermanos will slowly age and die with the Utah Valley Boomers (next 20 years), because there is no chance they'll connect with future generations of diners without a complete overhaul of the menu. We asked for the following: lemonade, sweet tea, Hurchata, sangria, etc and our waitress response was " we dont have that yet!! WTF! What do you mean you don't have that yet??? Lol!! Party of six- all we could do was laugh and settled on water! Bro, who the hell puts olive juice in guac!!? And what happened to quac having tomatoes, onions, Cilantro??!? I'm not picky at all when it comes to MX food but honestly, this was pretty shocking. The salsa was alright but I couldn't even believe the guacamole. They say it's made fresh there..no way. It was basically a green paste with no flavor. Definitely comes out of some prepacked bag. I've attached a photo. Again, I'm NOT picky. The rest of the food was very sub-par. I don't give many one-star reviews, but Los Hermanos really deserves one. Sorry, guys. Service: Every time I've been here, the service has been... odd. The servers have always been confused and distracted, and when they make conversation it tends to be kind of bizarre and extremely awkward. I don't want to give specific examples that might identify particular servers, but they clearly either take pity on people when they hire, or they have a lot of trouble hanging on to good employees. Atmosphere: Awful. The decor is, again, just weird. On my most recent visit, I was facing a large-scale picture of Michelangelo's David (is this an Italian restaurant?) with a little piece of cloth pinned over its genitals (seriously?). They also have displays of wine bottles in the restaurant, but do not serve alcohol. They have a large "drink" menu, but all of the "daiquiris" and "margaritas" are devoid of alcohol. I'm not sure why they still cost $5. Food: The most bland Mexican food I have ever eaten. There's nothing WRONG with the food, it just doesn't taste like anything. The salsa doesn't even seem to contain onions or salt, much less jalapenos or serranos or even some canned chiles. The rice looks and tastes like instant/parboiled rice. Everything is lacking in seasoning completely. It's not just un-spicy, it's TOTALLY flavorless. This could be a decent local Mexican spot if they would acquire some flavor, but this isn't even Tex-Mex food, it's just bad, fake Mexican food. The food is Utah/American-Hispanic style. Don't expect authentic, but you do get good, hearty food that's often served in generous portion sizes. The service is fair. You will often wait 5-10 minutes before having your order taken. Sometimes it takes a long time to get your food. The real crowd pleaser is the atmosphere. The room open to the street has floor to ceiling glass windows and looks like an outdoor Mexican courtyard complete with fountain, "windows" to the "inside", a Terracotta roofed serving area, and numerous plants. The indoor space is modeled after a cowboy-era south-western bar complete with a large wooden bar and huge mirror. If you can get seated there, the upstairs is lots of fun with the Indian artifacts and paintings on the walls. read more

We came in here late on a Saturday and requested Josh to serve us because we saw his employee of the month picture. They sat us and loaded us up with chips and salsa and Josh was a phenomenal server! He literally had us hooked up and kept the drinks coming and the food fast. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is awesome - totally like the local Mexican place you feel comfortable at - like you're sitting around a kitchen table of good friends.
