Came today and left disappointed considering how everything is as expensive as it is now...the quality and service deserved 1 star. My burrito was good not going to lie but the main thing we came for was the agua chile Rojas which my boyfriend been wanting for his birthday and it was not fresh at all you cannot fool me it's been sitting in lime juice for at least 3 days considering how hard, white and chewy it was on top of that it was overpowered with salt. Tip is earned not given and our server did not once check up on us we even had to remind her to bring us our water mind you it's a hot day as well that should've been the first thing out. Not to mention, I finished my water and no one came to give me a refill my boyfriend had to tell someone for me. The host actually came to check up on us once so the star goes to her! And then another server came at the very end to ask us "is everything okay?" How convenient to ask us that once we were finished lol. Wholly Mexicano! They've got some of the best Mexican food I've ever tasted! First time trying out Los Compadres. We ordered food for delivery. It came quick... It was still hot like it was just prepared... and so very tasty. We ordered the quesadilla de al pastor, the shrimp chipotle enchiladas and the queso fundido. All of it was muy delicioso! Many Mexican restaurants... and I mean many considering we're in LA, tend to fill up their enchiladas, burritos, etc. with rice and/or beans to make you think the portion is large which usually results in a rice and beans enchilada or burrito with a little bit of substance or flavor for that matter, etc. some will even try to drowned the fillings with sauces to mask the bland filling. NOT at Los Compadres. The food from Los Compadres was well balanced with all good quality ingredients to make for a great Mexican dining experience. Real flavor! Check them out. Ordered takeout for the office. My order was on time. We were greeted right away. This location isn't as big as the others, but it's cozy. Pretty busy and loud. I ordered the chile verde, which came with homemade tortillas. No complaints. This dish was delicious all around. The chile verde is not spicy. It may have a very small kick, I just don't consider that spicy for my palate. The pork was moist and it was flavored nicely. The beans and rice were good. I always love homemade tortillas. It's nice when restaurants go that extra mile. The flan was good. In between firm and soft. They put a chocolate sauce on it. It was fine, I just prefer it without chocolate. Definitely worth trying if you're a flan lover. The staff was very pleased with this decision. They all loved their food. We'll definitely order again from here. PS, the parking sucks. read more

Don't order the chili rellenos. They may be fried (which of course is the preferred method for rellenos) but you can't tell the rellenos are soggy wet with the sauce. The sauce is the most disappointing: even though they say it's "green", this is a red sauce that tastes like tomato sauce, not good. I wish the server would have asked, "do you want red or green sauce?" She wasn't at all concerned about my dissatisfaction, stating, "that's the way they come". It was one of those pandemic nights where the only thing could satisfy my hunger was a giant burrito. Wanting to help out a new local business, I turned to Yelp (of course) to find myself a new place for delivery. I'm so happy for finding Los Compadres!! First, let me say that their super burrito is super big. It came hot and fresh, stuffed with rice, beans, and lots of meat. I'm a fan of pork carnitas and the flavor of their meat did not disappoint. On the side were small containers of guacamole, sour cream and salsa - all fresh. My only gripe was that the burrito came dry. I was hoping it would be smothered was lots of yummy sauce, but I didn't read the fine print. I made some of my own and the burrito was out of this world. Next time, I'll make sure to request sauce so I can get the full Los Compadres experience. My dinner date had the fish fillet. Even with delivery, it came hot and once transferred to a platter with rice and beans, it looked like it came fresh from their kitchen. He devoured every morsel and praised the flavor. I was originally a fan of the larger/better decorated location on Anaheim, but since checking out this location over the weekend I like it much better. I feel like the food quality at the Anaheim location has gone down, but coming here reinvigorated my love for Los Compadres. On a Saturday at 6pm we had no wait, which is also different from the other location. Already a bonus! There was a small wait when we left at 7pm. This location is much smaller, has no bar, and is more casual/minimally decorated inside. The parking lot is across the street. They have TV's which is what we needed because we were looking for somewhere to watch a Mexican soccer game. Service was not the warmest but it was quick, so we didn't mind. We started with our usual, a couple of Micheladas. These were also better at this location. The Coctel de Camaron comes swimming in a large bath of flavorful juice. My bf thought it was too watery but I liked it. They provided plenty of crackers. The Carne Asada Tacos and Carne Asada Plate were full of flavor. Add the house salsa for even more of a punch. Portions are large and we left super stuffed. Safe to say I'll be back. read more

I was craving Mexican food near my office in DT LBC, and I saw that Los Compadres has a location 1 mile away. I had been to the larger location on Anaheim in LBC (3 miles away), and had a stellar experience. I'm happy to say I wasn't let down. LC near DT LBC is on Pine near 12th. LC offers numerous lunch specials @ $12.95. I opted for the pollo en mole that includes three homemade tortillas, rice & beans, drink, and chips & salsa. The chicken was super tender and plentiful. I put the dark meat inside the warm tortillas and mopped up the mole. Ancient cultures know how to eat bc they always seem to have bread to mop up sauce so you don't waste, i.e., pita, naan, et al. The mole was not as rich as Antojitos Mexicanos in Paramount, or La Casita in Bell. However, at this price point w/ all the food, there were no complaints from me. I couldn't finish all the rice & beans: 5 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its smaller at this location vs the one on Anaheim. There is no bar, but there are still large TVs. Street parking is a challenge, but there is a lot across the street: 4 Stars. The service from Jailene was very good. She was super friendly & attentive. She also offered me a refill on my drink: 5 Stars. When I'm looking for good authentic Mex near work, LC fits the bill. I'm glad I didn't settle for a mediocrely reviewed place on Broadway near DT LBC. read more

A delicious and colorful Mexican lunch during Hispanic Heritage Month was the perfect combo. I went to Los Compadres during the week at lunchtime and enjoyed their patio seating. They are using tents and plants to make you feel comfortable outside. For an appetizer, I had fresh and citrusy fish ceviche with oranges and avocado served with chips. As a main course, I had hearty and comforting fajita mixta with chicken, beef and shrimp, and traditional spanish rice and refried beans. First I tried their blended mango margarita, and then I tried their strawberry margarita. Both were very fruity and balanced with a good amount of alcohol. Service was excellent. I have only ordered delivery and pickup while at work. One of the better Mexican delivery foods we have had. A little pricey at $17 to $22 for a 3 taco combo plate but the food is good. They do not skimp on the carne asada nor chicken. Have not had the shrimp taco plate. 3 taco (suave) combo plate comes with beans (little watery) and Mexican rice. Ask for picante hot sauce if you want spicier as the standard ones they send are not very spicy. Tip: order from their website and be able to order at $17 for the exact same for $22 from yelp and their Anaheim Blvd location. The Pine Ave location is a little less than the Anaheim Blvd location which are only about 1 mile apart. If you want to sit down and eat and have much easier parking, go to the Anaheim blvd location. read more

You know. I've been ordering delivery from this location for 5 years now . The service is getting worst and worst. Last 3 deliveries in a row they messed up my order and I've had missing items. It's very disappointing when they mess up a delivery because you then have to wait 30 + minutes for the redelivery or the correct or items not given as they should've. I try to make sure I lost out every single thing I want or need for the delivery and they still get it wrong and for get items that come with the plates . The manager needs to step up training or only have couple people pack delivery orders so they can be held accountable. I was craving chilaquiles and when I searched Yelp, this gem was recommended. I ordered the Chilaquiles with eggs. It was delicious. I like my chips with a little bit of crunch to them and that's exactly what I got. The portion was huge and had leftovers for lunch. The Service was pleasant. We had an amazing server, my husband was indecisive so she recommended the Asada plate because he told her he was a steak type of guy and her recommendation did not disappoint. I'm giving 3 stars for a few small reasons. Overall the food is just not quite as good as the food at the location on Anaheim. While I've had some very good dishes here, the other location just seems more consistent overall. Due to that reason, I think the prices are harder to justify here. The beans, rice, salsa, chips are still spot on here, but don't make up for the occasionally lacking main dish that we've gotten here. A small annoyance (this goes for the other location as well, actually) is that the burritos on the online menu are very unclear to me whether they are smothered or not. I think two or three times I ordered thinking I would get a smothered burrito and didn't. The burrito was still dang good, but just a little disappointing. I hope they can clarify that on the menu. All in all, both locations deliver to where I live, so next time we're craving the premier experience in Mexican dining, we'll be sure to order from the Anaheim location. But hey, if this is the only location you have access to, well it's still pretty good as far as fancy Mexican food goes. read more

It is Street parking as far I can tell that is a downer. The place was nice with dine out. They made the food and delivers to your car. I got the Chile verde and it was just okay and not the best I ever had. The pork was not tender where it melts in your mouth but you'll get some pieces that is tender. Lots of sauce which is a plus for me. The beans is beans and rice is good. The corn tortillas are the best home made and just texture the chewy and fresh taste. My husband got the al pastor burrito. We decided to try something different on our last night in Long Beach, Mexican food! We asked the hotel's front desk and they said for authenticity, Los Compadres is the place to be! So we drove there and while looking for a parking spot we called the restaurant to ask about the parking situation and they said they provide a parking space for their customers, just across from the restaurant. That's awesome! We walked in and were seated at the back table with some nice decoration all over the wall, with some Mexican art and style. We had Sara the sweet energetic waitress who took our order and recommended some dishes. We had cocktail mixto or seafood ceviche. The ceviche was mixed with avocado. This one didn't hit me much. It was ok but it could be better. Then we had mixto molcajete and this one was quite interesting. It was described as hot and spicy but I thought it was more like medium hot. This dish was a combination of grilled shrimp, chicken, beef and green pepper with spicy sauce added in the middle of the bowl. So you eat the protein together with the sauce. The rice and beans were also served with this interesting mixto. While I wasn't crazy about the first ceviche that came out, I thought the sauce for that was just so so, this second dish was quite interesting in taste. Maybe because I've never had anything like it before. Of course they gave us nachos and salsa prior to our dinner. The service and food were very good! Best Mexican Food in Town... Period! This place hasn't lost any quality. The food is amazing even though its located in a sketchy part of town. I love their carne asada with enchilada plate. Its to die for. Make sure to try a Michelada with extra lemon...it will make your day. The restaurant has a happy hour from Monday through Thursday that goes all the way to 7:00pm. So we were looking for a place to go and have it Sunday family lunch, and I stumbled upon this place searching yelp. It's in Long Beach parking is a bit rough they do you have a small parking lot which can fill up fast luckily we were able to park there. There are no vast signs that let you know the parking is for the restaurant; you have to be in the lot to see that it has the restaurant's name on it, so it would be helpful if signage were better. We were seated immediately. I would say it's relatively small on the inside. They do have a small patio in the back. We were immediately served chips and salsa, which were hot fresh, and just delicious the salsa was so tasty. I mean, my taste buds were immediately exploding. OKAY! The speed of service wasn't terrible but excuse improvement. I'm not sure about Rachel's name as she didn't give it, but she's a lovely young lady. A mistake was made with a food order regarding the burrito; we ordered chicken, not Asada, but it was okay because it was delicious either way, so we didn't make a big fuss over it. I've been a Long Beach local for years and today was the first day my girlfriend and I ate here. It was amazing. The ambience was cozy and authentic, the waitresses were friendly, and the service was fast. The best part of the whole experience was, of course, the food. My carnitas burrito was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Even the chips and salsa were addicting. Awesome authentic Mexican food in DTLB! My coworkers and I grabbed some dinner on a weeknight and boy...was Los Compadres rockin'! The place was packed. I gotta say, the best part of the dinner was the service. The yummy food came in a close 2nd. Even though the restaurant was busy, they had like 5 waitresses covering the floor. Our waitress was super cool, super attentive and recommended some good food. I had the three taquito Happy Hour plate ($6.95 with guac and either beef, chicken or potato). My coworkers had some yummy Carne Asada plate and seafood plate. Everything was good. There's street parking or park at the fenced off lot across the street (owned by the restaurant). I typically order the wet burrito with green sauce, but since moving cities, no other Mexican restaurant has been able to surpass their wet burrito. It must be something with the chicken, because it's seasoned to perfection. The 2 chicken tacos in hard shells are also delicious. They come with a side of rice and beans. Horrible service. Careful if they sit you by the door. There is an AC on top that is leaking water and WILL fall right on top of your food. By the time she realized she was almost done with her food and we told our waitress and she only said "I'm sorry about that." & wasn't able to offer to move us. When we were done we asked to speak to a manager and the person the girl that came up to us said the same thing as the first one. It was 7 of us, 4 adults 3 kids. They charged us a 16% service fee although we ordered our food separately since the beginning. When we asked if we can separate our bill they said we wouldn't.
