This place is fantastic. Established in 1978, it's a huge restaurant, yet the service remains consistently excellent. Despite its size, it always seems packed -- which says a lot. The food is outstanding, and the waitstaff is polished, friendly, and very professional. Pricing is surprisingly low, especially considering the quality and how popular this place is. Unfortunately my phone battery died, so no food photos this time. I ordered the Ocampo Combination Plate -- two cheese enchiladas, a beef taco, guacamole salad, and a chile con queso puff -- and it was very good. That said, the real standout for me was the queso we had to start. Good margaritas, great energy, and a place that clearly knows what it's doing. read more

Food was good but it was VERY LOUD. You had a hard time hearing your own table conversation. We came from the other side of town to try this place and for the most part, food wise; it was good. The place is huge but there are a lot of tables and close together. I can see why because they were packed. It is popular. The servers were spot on and those servers hustled. NO standing around waiting to be told. We were all impressed by the waitstaff. The only one in our party that said something was our guest who ordered the Popeye enchiladas. The spinach was not squeezed dry and it made the filling watery and bland. If in the area, we would go again. It is a nice family restaurant. read more

We just left there about one hour ago. Even though the physical appearance of the restaurant nice. The wait staff, an older guy should consider retirement and unfortunately a hearing aid. His service was poor, as was his communication with me, the paying patron. He totally disregarded communicating with me, continuously went to my husband who was not the paying patron. Came here tonight with a group and had high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. We ordered a variety of dishes including enchiladas, chicken fajitas, steak fajitas, and steak quesadillas. For starters, we got the guacamole and queso. When the food arrived, we sat there for about five minutes unable to eat because no plates were brought out. We had to ask multiple times before plates finally showed up. On top of that, there weren't enough tortillas for the amount of fajitas we ordered, which made sharing difficult. The service overall was terrible. I initially wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to being busy, but honestly the entire experience just felt poorly managed. No one at the table had water refills, and even after asking several times, we never received them. What made this even more disappointing is that we were hosting guests from out of town and were excited to show them a true Tex-Mex experience. We drive across town to eat TexMex here! It's consistently good and the service is so friendly. We order the beef fajitas, enchiladas, and the queso with fajita beef. Their salsa is good too. The kid's meal has TexMex (quesadillas, tacos,etc) and American food options (burgers, chicken tenders, etc). It is a great price (less than $6) and comes with a drink. read more

Lopez in Stafford is on a whole different level compared to the other location...night and day difference. The service here is always warm and on point. Their frozen margaritas hit exactly how you'd expect them to: strong, cold, and dangerously easy to sip. Paired with their shredded chicken enchiladas, and you've got my go-to order. I'll be honest, I never thought I'd love enchiladas without gravy, but these are hands down the best in Sugar Land / Stafford and dare I say...Houston. They're with flavor, perfectly seasoned, juicy without the added sauce, and totally crave-worthy. If you're deciding which Lopez to visit, Stafford is the only choice. I'm already eyeing their Happy Hour from 2-6 PM, Monday through Friday, because if it's anything like lunch, it's going to be wonderful. We ordered the chicken enchiladas, chile relleno enchiladas verde, and a chimichanga -- all delicious. The chips came out warm with fresh salsa, absolutely perfect. We also added the queso with ground beef, which was rich, creamy, and a great starter. Service was attentive and on point the whole visit, and the restrooms were clean -- always appreciated. We went to dine with a friend and celebrate their birthday. Walked in, and were immediately seated. We scanned the menu and ordered, an Ocampo Dinner, Mina Dinner and Chile relleno dinner. The chips and salsa arrived shortly after. The salsa was watery, used canned tomatoes and lacked spice, acid, and salt. We inquired about some of the normal green salsa that was presented. It was now an upgrade. The waiter brought some and it was fine after adding a little more salt. Our dinners appetizers arrived, along with the Chile Relleno at the same time. The Mina Dinner and Ocampo Dinner entrees arrive about ten minutes later and were piping hot. The Mina and Ocampo dinners were the same as they have always been and quickly disappeared under an attack from the forks provided. The chili Relleno was genuinely a disappointment. The poblano pepper was over cooked, and the beef was flavorless. The poblano pepper was not dipped in egg and flour. It appeared to have been over cooked on a flat top and then a small egg omelet was place on top to hide the victim. This was a terrible dish that should not have been served. The entire experience just felt poorly managed. The food was no longer delightful. Seems like they lack consistent results. Too little attention to detail. Throw the stuff on a plate and out of the kitchen. Although we normally look forward to dessert, we declined dessert, and asked for the check. We had a credit for our birthday girl, and attempted to redeem it. Our waiter could not understand what was requested and said that "they" would need to handle that, but did not know who "they" were. We went up to the cashier, and inquired about redeeming the birthday discount. She did not know how to do it and asked me about it. We asked if someone else could possibly be familiar with the process and she said "they" were busy. I told her to leave the discount alone and paid the check. We have seen this type of "confusion" previously using this customer loyalty scam while not actually discounting their customers or appreciating their loyalty. This along with the charging a fee for previously complimentary salsa indicates that they are possibly pinching pennies. Not something that loyal customers want to bear. Better restaurants closer, better food, and better service to be had means that Lopez is no longer worth the drive. Sad but true. Their customers deserve better. read more

I was on a mission to find the best TexMex I have ever had. I lived here in Houston for 16 years, then moved to Louisiana where the Mexican food absolutely sucks. So today I was definitely on a mission and thank God I was successful. Lopez gave me the best Carne GuisadaI had ever had and the queso was great. They're salsa is perfect not too hot. It's just right. The guacamole was creamy chunky and delicious and the beans were out of this world. I will be back soon. There is a God and he has given us the Lopez Mexican. read more

I have been coming here since a child and this place has stood the test of time. In my opinion this is one of the best local Tex Mex spots in the SW, Sugar Land, Stafford area. I'm writing this review to applaud their Triumph Trays. This is by far, the best quality and value meal to feed a family I have ever seen at any restaurant! For $30 you get 3 beef and 3 cheese enchiladas, 1 cheese and 1 mixed quesadilla, rice, beans, chips and salsa. That's the base tray, you can also upgrade and substitute items as explained on their website. Everything tasted great and is packaged well in their fancy bags. The interior of this restaurant is also really nice. This is definitely a place that will always be in my regular rotation. read more

Went out in a work lunch. Great service, decent prices, good food. I had the carnitas, they were really good and a generous portion. The salsa with the chips is okay. I asked for spicy green salsa and they promptly brought it out. It was delicious. I can't stress enough, how good the service was. Went to the grand parkway location. Both food and service were excellent.. very nice and welcoming staff. The food was fresh and hot.

I have been coming to this place for years! I remember when it was much smaller but what has stayed constant is the food and service. All the plate are very good and the salads and especially of course my favorite are the fajita beef enchiladas. The service has always been very good and they now have a nice bar area for happy hour margaritas!! There's plenty of parking and it's a great spot for lunch or for big groups.
