    Trompo , asada
    Adilene P.

8/10 If you're looking for solid street tacos in Houston, Tacos El Bigote is definitely one of the better spots around. I tried the pastor (trompo), pollo, and fajita tacos. My favorites were the pastor and the chicken. The pastor had great flavor and was easily the standout for me. The chicken was also really good, juicy, and well seasoned. The fajita (carne asada) and the pastor were still good, but not the best tacos I've ever had. I know a lot of people say this is one of the best taco spots in the city, and while I wouldn't personally rank it at the very top, it's definitely a reliable taco spot that's better than most places. I also tried the rice, which was better than most Tex-Mex rice you'll find. It wasn't my absolute favorite, and probably not something I'd go out of my way to order again, but it was still solid. One thing to keep in mind is the line. I went on Tuesday (Taco Tuesday) when they have $1 tacos, and the line was really long. Also note that the $1 deal is only for the pork tacos, so if you're planning to order other meats anyway, it might be better to go on another day and avoid the wait. Seating was also very limited. That said, I did notice they have $1 margaritas on Mondays, which honestly sounds like a great reason for me to come back. Overall: not the best tacos I've ever had, but definitely a good taco spot worth having in your back pocket.

These tacos are solid, decent portion size too and nice tortilla. The two salsas are tasty and appropriately spicy from a Mexican perspective lol. The restaurant is clean, busy, and staff are very sweet. One thing I really liked was they actually put pineapple on their trompo tacos. They have awesome drink specials, on Thursdays they have $2 beers domestic and international which is awesome. Overall I give this place 4.5 out of 5, not the best tacos I've had in Houston, but this is authentic, tasty, and a great time. I'm coming back for sure.

The place is so upbeat. Has many chairs for small to big groups. This is only an indoor seating and parking space is shared. The service was nice and fast. They have an open kitchen where you can also see how they make the food, it is like a show. It is nice. The food was good. We savor every bite - the consome was good just feels like it didn't hit so much the flavor I crave for. But overall it was still good.

Finally found a great taco place in the area! Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it was busy! Lots of people enjoying their food - despite the busyness, the place was kept clean and the service was fast and friendly. I got their Birria Quesitacos, Lengua Taco, and a Pastor Gordita. My favorite was the Birria Quesitaco! Great flavor and the cheese was sooo good. I also really enjoyed the Lengua Taco - the chunks of meat were very tender and it pairs well with the salsa verde. The Pastor Gordita was good but not quite as good as the other items. This place felt very authentic! Most of everyone, including the servers, were talking in Spanish. It was super affordable too! We added on the gordita later, but initially the 6 tacos + a small horchata was only $21! Feeding 2 people for a little over $10 is such a steal, especially when the food is this good. Will definitely be coming back again

This place is a Houston staple for authentic Mexican food! Every time I go, there's always a long line but surprisingly it goes by really fast, the food is impeccable tacos you could never go wrong with we tried the gordita and the new Tijuana tacos. Oh my gosh gordita was top-tier cheesy to perfection and they give you this great not too spicy sauce with it. Along with some lettuce and tomatoes . To be honest, the Tijuana tacos were not everything that I expected . But the food is always impeccable and tasty. Best part is it comes out really fast! The Agua Fresca was top-tier 10 out of 10 not too sweet perfect for a summer day ! Parking in front. This is such a chill place people come from everywhere and you can tell by the line this place is amazing .

The food tasted good; friendly service and clearing dining environment. The only complaint I might have is too much corn inside Menudo which made me felt paying $12 for bowl of corn soup. We enjoyed our lunch.

Excellent, authentic street tacos and tortas at a great price. We ordered food by phone and checkout was quick and easy in-store. Service was kind and fast. Vibe inside feels like a neighborhood Mexican taqueria spot, but with a more modernized, cleaner, and sleeker interior. Highlights were the fajita, trompo, lengua, tripa, and al pastor. Al pastor, lengua, and fajita were some of the best I've had so far in Houston. The salsa verde is flavorful but only mild, so mix it with the less flavorful but spicy red sauce. Street tacos are a good size and they load em up well. Trompo suffers a little in transit for takeout and becomes a little dry so probably best to eat it fresh at the restaurant if possible. Adding salsa and lime helped with that though, and the flavor is simple but great. Tortas were fantastic, just the right size, and toasted well.

I ordered the California fajita burrito and I've been through half my burrito and there's not a single single meat nothing. $18.52 including tip and no meat

Found this place near where we were shopping!!! So far customer service isn't very good! No smile or welcoming, a sh&$y face when taking order and no eye contact, more like your annoying me! The food smells real good and menu is a little confusing but let's try it out!! It does get packed but we found a place to sit by bar area!!! It's loud so don't get overwhelmed lol I don't mind music playing this loud!!! We ordered birria tacos to go and lengua, tripa and asada for here, also a California burrito!!! Yes California!!' Let's see if it's as good as cali burritos A michelada was ordered and wel deserved jijij, pacífico beer! It's very refreshing and just perfectly prepared!!! California burrito, nope! It shouldn't have lettuce and should have fries!!! Oh no!!! The manager and guy servers are very nice but the girls are rude, so work on that!!! Maria V, work on your customer service!!! As a business owner, I would really appreciate the feedback from customers and this is for the business owner! Omg the lengua is so savory and tender!!! Amazing job here! Not any place knows how to make lengua and let me tell you about the trompo!! It's just perfectly seasoned and the flavor is amazing, add the pineapple pieces to the taco it's just amazing!!! Instead of aguacate chunks, smash it!! Just like Mexico and it will be the bomb!!! The tripa Can be cooked how ever you choose!! I asked extra crunchy almost like chicharrón!!! Yummmm it was very good!!! The green salsa is spicy but bit overpowering!!! It's perfect

Sometimes crowded but always very very good. Extremely good to superb food sometimes when it's just very good I get let down and remember oh it's way better than the average place even at its worst and that is average flavor. You'll be pleasantly surprised and then it's best you'll be superbly surprised I've tried a few dishes a few I liked a few didn't my wife has tried quite a few. She likes them all overall delicious food afternoon or evening. If you don't like Spanish or Mexican music, you might not want to go here because that's all you hear playing and all the Spanish channels and the sports and all that they got a lot of sports TVs turned on at the same time

First time trying this spot out & we loved it! Was craving some authentic Mexican food and this did not disappoint! The fajita is real fajita , birria quesabirrias were bomb, barbacoa was delicious & pure meat, and flautas were great. The pepino agua fresca súper buena!!! Overall , my husband and I left highly satisfied and will be coming back. We got there on a Sunday exactly at time of opening & a lot of people started to come in right after, busy business I see!

This one is at 8400 S Gessner Rd near Hwy 69
    Lou C.

My neighbor recommended me to try Tacos El Bigotes at 8400 S Gessner Rd near Hwy 69. Me and my friend came here last month to give it a try. As far as the parking situation was easy. The restaurant was half filled during lunchtime. The service was so-so. I felt like being rushed during ordering. It was my first time. But the cashier didn't understand why it took us so long to read the menu. There is no paper menu. It's either reading from the menu board hung behind the counter or use QR code. The food tasted okay. Nothing to be excited about. The prices was kind of high for me. But because they got a lunch crowd, I consider it's normal for other customers. The taco sauces were bland. The bottle were pretty, tho. We both ordered street tacos to sample. But that ain't enough. Then, we both ordered birrias with and without cheese. I didn't quite like it because the shells were crunchy and consommé was not flavorful enough. This was my 3rd time eating birrias and it wasn't my thing. I'll continue looking for other birria restaurants.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!
