Ranchero plate with barbacoa
Gloria Emelina M.

First time here. Cute small place very inviting. The food was great, many options to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful when ordering. Definitely coming back.

Rico! OMG it was good. I had the chicken soup with corn tortillas. La Fonda is a very nice, family owned, authentic Mexican food restaurant. And, the owners are very nice too.

I ran into this spot by accident and I'm so glad I did. The people were so kind and ready to serve excellence. This was by far the best carne guisada that I've had in Houston! The chicken con salsa was amazing too. And the tortillas? Fresh and homemade. The quaint place was chill and very clean. I'll be back for sure!

Chicken breast tacos

First time here, and definitely not my last time. Today I got some chicken breast tacos, so good and fresh. Nice little kick to them. Service is fast too and it has this cool little authentic feel.

Fajita burrito plate

Stopped by for lunch at this small location and they didn't disappoint. They have a great variety of food. I ordered the burrito plate and it was delicious and full of flavor. The beans are rice were delicious too. I'll be going back to try other menu items for sure .

Chorizo egg scramble with refried bean and plantain.
Chau H.

Love that there's an authentic Mexican restaurant in the Sugar Land area. Pretty good food. I kind of customized mine by asking for a chorizo egg scramble with refried bean and ranchero sauce on the side. The ranchero sauce has a little kick to it so does the green sauce for those that like it a little spicy. They have cafeteria style food as well for lunch. They also have a pictures of various plates on the wall but with no words or prices hence I knocked off a star. I would definitely come back here and get their other plates but I would have to ask them what's in it and how much.

The tacos themselves were also delicious. The beef fajita was flavorful and well-cooked, and the plate comes with two tacos, rice, and beans, which felt like a solid portion. Overall, I definitely felt like I got good value for the cost. The service was speedy and casual. If you're looking for a casual spot with dependable Tex-Mex and great chips and salsa, Chuy's does the job.

This thing was so large i could barely eat half, took the other half home and had it for dinner. Yum. My wife went with the loaded fried topped wit' 3 kinds of cheese, nacho cheese, sour cream and a meat of her choosing and bacon, she chose barbacoa and they accidently gave her fajitas, when they noticed the mistake they offered to redo it but she'd already tasted it and wasn't willing to give it up, yup, that good. We've lived very close to this restaurant, and always thought it looked like just another Mexican…read morerestaurant and never tried it. Then I saw a short recommendation (with about a dozen likes) on another neighborhood site, and we decided to try it out. Now we've been there several times, and everything I've tried is outstanding, and the rest of my party wants to keep returning to try new things. And maybe that's especially noteworthy. Usually I go to a place and find something I like, and that's the item I get for that place. But El Fogon is 3 for 3 on perfection so far. Our first trip was a Thursday night and they have the poblano pepper fajita special for 2 on Thursday nights. The salsa is not runny, it's not ketchupy, it's not too mild or too hot -- it just has you enjoying it so much that before you know it you have to ask the waiter to bring more bowls. I won't say anything's super spicy, but it's all super flavorful. I've had the fajitas with beef and bacon. Then I had the Cameron brocheta (bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp with Monterrey jack cheese & jalapeño. The third time, I had ceviche, and they're very generous with the serving size. We're going back tonight -- the fourth time in two weeks -- and I have to try the nachos. And I still haven't had my favorite Mexican plate that I always have everywhere ... Chile relleno. And even their beans and rice are spectacular and better than maybe anywhere else. And I've had the peach margarita each time. It's very nice, though I have another spot I still like better. I always like peach, but I'm tempted to try their blackberry jalapeño margarita, or their watermelon mint. Or the pineapple rita. Or maybe tonight the mango habanero. I regret that it too so long for us to try El Fogon, but now that we've tasted how fabulous it is, we're catching up.
