I'm afraid to deviate because I love this meal so much. My husband got the rib eye with man n cheese and rice. I'm not a fan of their Mac n cheese. I find it's dry and lacks flavor. Needed some steak in my body and after a busy last 18 hours I decided to grab dinner. Found a spot at the bar which was full, did take a few minutes to be recognized and get a drink order in. But I quickly ordered a fillet, when he asked about the sides I didn't recall seeing any on the menu (pages were stuck together). Food was delicious. Asparagus and brussels sprouts were cooked great. My fillet was cooked medium rare and that's how it came. Loved every bite of it. I indulged them with with a dessert as well and got a cheesecake. Longhorn is our family birthday dinner go-to and that's why we came tonight. We were seated straight away in a roomy booth. The benches in the booths have seen better days. We all felt that the seats sank too low and could feel the wood frame. The waitress, Diana, greeted us quickly with a loaf of warm bread and whipped butter. She returned a bit later and took our drink order. We had already sat for a bit so we placed our food order at the same time. My daughter ordered the sangria. It came in a HUGE glass. She said it was very good, but could have been smaller. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, which never came. When the meals were delivered, I asked the food runner to bring it. She did, quickly. I had the loaded potato soup. It was thick and creamy and delicious. The salads were good sized and fresh. I had Flo's 9 oz filet, cooked medium rare with broccoli. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was melt in your mouth delicious but the broccoli was cold. My daughter also had the fillet cooked medium and hers was cooked perfectly as well. She also had the mac & cheese on the side and said it was delicious. My son had the dinner sized ribeye, cooked, medium rare. Again his steak was cooked perfectly. He had the mashed potatoes for a side. They were incredibly creamy and were served with a pool of butter on top. Absolute decadence. My mother had the rock shrimp with the sweet potato. She enjoyed both. We sat for quite a while with our empty plates in front of us with no server to be found. That's my pet peeve. My daughter saw to-go containers sitting on the back of the booth across from us so she got up and got us containers and we packed our food. We still sat there for a bit with empty plates. Since we were celebrating a birthday, Diana offered a birthday sundae when she returned. We also ordered the strawberry shortcake to split. When the desserts were delivered, we asked for a extra plate and a refill of a soda. Neither came. When Diana returned with the check ($163), she remembered the soda refill and brought it back in a to-go cup which was a nice gesture. Three cheers to the cooks for the steaks, shrimp, Mac and cheese and potatoes. The food gets 5 stars. The server gets 3 stars and that's generous. She told us she was working a double shift and went in a tangent about nutrition and how preservatives cause ALZ and that's why she is forgetting things. It was very odd. Had a great experience last night (Saturday) I will, as always, call out the amazing service first. Matthew waited on us and you can tell from the start he is a seasoned professional. Very calm and easy to talk to and he took extremely good care of us. He was very apologetic for an underdone potato and brought a new one immediately. The food was as good as it always is here. This is one of our favorites on our Saturday dinner rotation and it never misses. The restaurant was full, as expected for a Saturday night. We love the atmosphere there. Despite how full the place is, it is not loud or hard to hold a conversation. A huge thank you to Matthew for the superb service and for taking a cupcake to celebrate my aunts birthday. Enfield doesn't have that many great restaurants so Longhorn steakhouses are a decent place to grab a bite to eat so if you're in the mood for a steak. Many pizza shops or fast food in Enfield... I was only a little disappointed in the French onion soup which was very lukewarm and the cheese wasn't fully melted but the service was amazing and they actually took the soup completely off after they offered me a new one. Traveling through and staying at the hotel next to this location. Added my name to their waitlist online. It told me we'd be seated in approximately 20 minutes. With 5 minutes left, we headed over and checked in. Told it would be 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we we #1 on the app to be seated. After the third party of 2 were seated before us, I went up to the host station to inquire. Was told the online info isn't accurate. Really? Seemed to be working just fine until we reached #1. Why have an app telling customers where they are in line if it's not accurate? So we were finally seated 40 minutes after checking in. Happy with apps and meal. Only thing I would change is the fillets needed more seasoning. Went to the LongHorns in Enfield CT last night and had the worst steak I've ever had!! Ordered the bone in rib eye, medium rare, the first steak was served medium well, sent it back. The replacement was cooked properly but had so much gristle and white sinew through it that I had to fight to get every bite. When I was done there was at least half the steak left on my plate, unedible!! All they did was comp the dessert my husband ordered for takeout. Also, I ordered a green salad as one of my sides and was served broccoli instead. All in all, a terrible dining experience! It was an amazing trip end. After we left the airport we decided to stop for a hearty lunch at this location. The host greeted us very kindly and sat us at a table and we had a lovely waitress who was so happy to share menu insights and answer questions we had about different choices. Our drinks and appetizers were delicious, the bread was hot and fresh and warm. The Texas tonion was crispy hot and the perfect snack to much on while we waited for our salads to come.... the food was amazing and hot and the salads were cold and crisp and had just the right amount of dressing. Well, they did--definitely CON CARNE, but not with beans. The bowl of Texas style chili was tasty, had ground beef--which we do not prefer--and we really did miss having beans to make the meal more filling. It did have garnish of cheddar, red onion and jalapenos. Our waitress was Sam and she was phenomenal. BEYOND COMPARE... Checked in often to assist and even recommended a few dishes. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, the bread was delicious as we awaited our food, the ribeye was excellent, a Caesar salad was solid, the 9oz chicken and half baby back ribs combo was fantastic. For drinks, we opted for two long pour margaritas. We were not disappointed! The food came out very fast as well. Definitely recommend an evening at this restaurant with Sam as your waitress. I am not sure which genius came up with the idea to do chain steakhouses, in general, I prefer independent steak house as a formal event dinner location. However, longhorn is pretty good as a chain & it does have good selection of steaks. I've been to the Enfield location several times especially it opened right next to my work a few years ago. The place is big & service is good with large lunch selection. The price is slightly higher than lunch places around here such as 99, Cheng's garden, 5 guys etc., but it does have some good steaks with a visit once in a while. My favorite was the lunch steak with mushroom, tender and flavorful, what more can you ask? but they didn't have it the last time I ate there. Oh lord! A family of 4 has been sick since we ate here, horrible food poisoning. Shrimp appetizer was ridiculously SALTY. The onion soup was black! Salty and greasy. The bacon burger didn't even had flavor. The chicken salad was swamped with dressing. Oh and their specialty, the T bone steak was BURNT like charcoal burnt.
