Thought this company was popalock but obviously not. First search result on Google, and said $10 service call plus labor time. I've had this done before for like $40 so I figured oh it'll be close. Ends up charging me $95 total. Took him 10 seconds, not kidding, to open the car door, and that apparently costs $85. This is my first review, and want to at least people know how this company works. not often I order a service like this without checking Yelp first - my bad. when you have 17, about to be 18, ONE STAR ratings, dont walk ...run. after a 20 minute lecture on how the guy they sent is a genius, cracks safes, can open anything, open a simple residential deadbolt as needed without damaging the lock like all those other losers , unlike him, after pounding on it for 10 minutes, HE DRILLED THE LOCK! I COULD HAVE DONE THAT MYSELF - FOR FREE. the back gate was chained so he graciously offered to cut it - for $60. luckily I had bolt cutters in my car and did it for free. but the best part, after he exhibited the skill of a minimum wage laborer, after all the safe-cracking 'im a lock genius' bragging, he then started the pressure to replace the deadbolt he destroyed that he was so skilled he would never have to drill - FOR ANOTHER $120!. the part is $12-15, and it takes turning 2 screws. then, for thirty minutes he pressured me to have the whole house rekeyed, for $300. then $200. if these people had ANY ethics or skill, they would have replaeced the $12 deadbolt, FOR FREE, because he was such a genius and should never have had to drill it. total bill - over $400. to drill a deadbolt. never use these people. The technician arrived on time and started working, telling me it would take 20 minutes. Over an hour later (and after all the locks were removed) she had to leave to get some part she needed leaving my house without a lock. She said she would return in 45 min or less only to arrive in 90 min. And, when I checked the locks to be sure they worked, one of the locks fell apart. read more

I wish that there was an option for negative stars because in my book they are a negative 100! This is a BIG rip off!!!! Austin light speed locksmith wanted to charge me $105 for getting my keys out of the trunk!! Everyone, do not use this company!! I typed into google, cheap lock smith because my cousin locked my keys in the trunk and they are the first company I saw. Their ad claims to have $15 services so of course I call! A woman answers and tells me thats its a $15 service fee and a technician will come out and give me an estimate. Well I ask her if she can give me an estimate and she says no only the tech can. So I ask her what the maxium is and she says I don't know. So I said okay just send the tech out. 20 minutes later he arrives grumpy and in a hurry. He says im the last job of the day. He spends about 2 minutes looking at my car and then heads to his car to get the tools. I stop him and ask, what amount are we talking about here. He says $105. I say a hundred and five dollars!!!!!???? Then I say hold on. I called my roomate to see if he could get my spare key from the apartment. He didnt answer. The tech says well how much do you have? I say 50 bucks. He says okay ill do it for $50. I say hold on real quick to try and call my roomie again. This time he answers and says he is on the way home. I ask him if he could look for my spare key and then the tech shoves the invoice at me and says ill only do it for 50$ if you sign right now!! My roomie says he will look for it and I tell him that ill call him back since the tech was being aggressive and rude. I then tell the tech I will only pay the $15 service fee for going out there and he gets even more upset!!! He swipes the card on his portable credit card machine and then the machine doesn't work! This guy becomes a ticking time bomb!!!! He gets frustrated and tells me dont worry about it, I'm leaving now. Under absolutely no circumstances should anyone ever call Austin Locksmith to unlock a vehicle. I called them today to get my vehicle unlocked. The grumpy dispatcher took my information and sent a technician, but to the wrong address. I guided him to my location on my cell phone and he finally located me about an hour after our first conversation. When he arrived, he was driving an old, beat-up Honda Accord without any type company logo on it. He wasn't wearing any type of uniform associated with the company, either. He then began to engage me with all the social skills of a teenager who doesn't know how to talk to adults yet, "Umm, it's $25 fer the service call and $125 tuh unlock yer car? Umm, do ya' have insurance? Full insurance?" etc., ending every statement like a question (and how much damage does he expect to do while unlocking my car?). At this point I was still willing to have him do the work until he informed me that Austin Locksmith charges a 15% "tax" for credit cards. I could take no more of this over-charging company and unprofessional technician, so I gave him his $25 service charge and asked him to leave. If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I then called Pop-a-Lock at (512) 836-1011, who had a professional technician show up a the right location within an hour. He was driving a company car with clean, crisp logos and advertising so he was easy to spot and flag down. He was also wearing a company polo shirt and hat. He immediately unlocked my vehicle, wrote my ticket up ($44.95 total), and ran my credit card, all without worrying about whether or not I was insured. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If only I had taken a moment to read the reviews. I am in Fort Worth and my son is in Austin. He called me after locking his keys in his car. I googled locksmiths and gave him this number as well as others. They said they could not quote him a price over the phone but it would be a $15 service fee. When the locksmith got there, he handed my son the paperwork to sign and as he was unlocking it (took all of 4 seconds) he told my son it would be $95 plus the $15 service fee. My son was left standing there, not knowing what to do because the car was unlocked. He ended up paying $75. When I called back to the operator to question the fee (I was anticipating a $35 charge, that is the most I have ever paid!) she hung up on me, not once, but twice! Stay away from this business. Called and they quoted $15.00 service fee plus additional cost for labor. Came out because i had locked my keys inside my car. They came out and quoted me at $15.00 plus what appeared to be $1.35. They went ahead and opened it in two minutes and to my surprise my credit card was charged a total of $150.00. Called business back and the lady told me to wait for accounting to get back in the afternoon. Well called back in afternoon and the same lady answered, put me on hold and told me she was accounting too. Really? Point this company is definitely a scam, taking advantage of customers and not helpful at all. Don't use this company!!! My son locked his keys in his truck. I called them and they said it would be 15.00 to pop the lock unless they needed special tools and they would be there in 15 minutes, 1 hour later the guy shows up then tells me it's going to cost 15.00 to pop the lock and additional "buck 35" because he would be using special tools. I asked him what special tools he had and I would like to see them. He would show them to me and said" I wouldn't get it open for any less and because it was Sunday no one else would come". I said thanks but ill take my chances. I called Pop a Lock. They were there in 20 minutes and charged me the 53.72 I was quoted over the phone. It was a Sunday at about 6:30 in the evening so I expected it to not be cheap, but the ad and the operator said $10 service fee and what ever it costs the serviceman to to get in the house. $150 is way over the top in my opinion. read more

Do not use this company. They advertise great rates to lure you to them and then charge outrageous prices. I was charged for rekeying a lock when they advertise it to be free if you purchase a new lock from them. I was also supposed to receive a 15 % discount for requesting service online. Do not be fooled by the $15 service call. This is just in addition to all other charges. When I called to complain, the guy actually cursed me, told me he didn't want to listen to me, and then hung up on me. Great customer service??? read more

I called this company after a quick Google search for Austin pop a lock. I did not realize at the time this was not in fact pop a lock. I was in a rush to get into my car and I was not paying attention, this was my first mistake. I spoke to the dispatcher and explained my situation. She said she could have someone out with in half a hour or so for a $15 service call fee. I felt this was very reasonable and fast. The guy who showed up said that he could have the car opened within 5 min. I wanted to confirm one last time the fee. The locksmith stated to me it would be the original $15 plus a fee of $80.00 making the total $95.00. I inquired why it was going to cost so much since his add sated $15.00 he told me I had a special car. Mind you I drive a 2008 Saturn Aura nothing special about it. I told the locksmith that I was not interested in doing business with him and gave him the $15.00 for the "service" fee. He became very angry with me and started yelling at me "what do you think people work for free?" I told him no, I don't but i also do not expect to be ripped off either for a five min job that only requires a air bag to pop open the door and a button to be pushed. I also had already paid him the $15.00 fee that was ensured for his troubles. He never "worked" for free. My boyfriend who was with me noticed that his purple - maroon dodge minivan had a magnet on the side that read only read locksmith 24/7 and a few details about the services they provide, and the phone number 512-662-5331 this was not the number that we had called. He decided that he was going to take a picture of the side if the van for documentation. The locksmith became even angrier and hopped in the van and slammed on the gas and hit me on my right side knocking me over. I was left with a very large bruise the size of a salad plated on my thigh and butt area. I was caught completely off guard. This man was behaving like a savage. My boyfriend proceeded to call the police and the locksmith tried to drive away in the process. The Apartment manager of the property happened to be driving by at the time and was able to block him in with his golf cart to keep him from leaving. He thought it was funny and said that nothing was going to happen to him that we might as well let him leave. The police responded within a few minutes time. During the questioning by the police He stated that he felt ambushed when my boyfriend took a picture of his car and by accident stepped on the gas. The police called it a in the heat passion crime that the DA will have to determine if charges are filed. I will be personally filing assault charges with the victims crime unit at DA office as soon as they get the case on their desk. The process will take at least a week for them to get the report. and I will follow through no matter the cost. I was never upset over the price just the amount of work that is being done for the price. I called the dispatcher to report what had happened and she straight up told me she did not believe me and hung up. I paid a visit to the er and other then the bruising from being hit I also had a hairline fracture from the impact. Not much a DR can do from here. I just need to take it easy and stay off of my leg for a while. My next steps will be to file report with the BBB to get the word out there. I have viewed several posts on the BBB and seems like this wont be the first inquiry. The reports indicate that they possibly have no license on file with the state. They have requested it but it has never been proved within the last two years. All I can say is do your research and don't settle for the first thing that pops up on Google search. read more

This is the most unethical company I have ever encountered; I contacted them instead of pop-a-lock (a reputable company) because I saw the Austin Locksmith ad for $10.00 I called and the rep explained it was $10 to get the tech to come out and then she asked for the make, model and year of the car; we provided this information and she said it would be $25.00 to unlock the car and $10.00 for the tech, in total $35.00. When the tech arrived he said the charge is $90 to unlock the car plus the $10.00 tech fee... Are you kidding me... we could have used pop-a-lock for $44.00 or yellow cab for $35.00. Unscrupulous businesses like this make me ill; we paid the tech $10.00 and begin to call pop-a-lock. Thankfully while we were on the phone the tech came back over and unlocked the car; he felt so bad that the customer service rep lied to us. If i could give a negative star rating I would. These people are vampires who prey on the misfortunes of others. My dog locked me out of my house the other night by locking the inside deadbolt so I called the locksmith. The website said $15 service fee and so did the dispatcher I spoke to on the phone. When the locksmith arrived he told me it was a $50 fee and $50 cancellation, so either way I owed him $50 before he even reached for a tool. He then went on to tell me that he needed to drill a hole through the door to get me inside which would cost $160. That being the case, I decided to take him to the back door to drill there so there wouldnt be an ugly hole in my front door. I told him the back door rarely locks all the way so I asked him to try to pop it open and what do you know, with a flat head screw driver the door popped right open. I was relieved when this happened and proceeded to ask him (willy is what he said his name was, but i think he was lying) what that would cost since he didn't have to use any tools and it took all of 20 seconds. He then said "A deal is a deal, you still owe me $160". The deal was that he was going to have to drill out the lock, which he did not, so in my mind that deal was never executed. Long story short he lingered around my house waiting for me to come up with $160. I proceeded to tell him that he was the scum of the earth and lacked human qualities because he was clearly taking advantage of my misfortune. NEVER EVER use this company. I would have rather paid $300 for a broken window than have to fill the pockets of these leeches of society. Do yourself a favor, avoid them at all cost!! Bad business, absolutely no regard for customer satisfaction, worst experience with a company I've ever had and I've dealt with towing companies before. I can't say enough about how angry I am that I was first lied to about the service price, then blackmailed into accepting service, and then when I called the supervisor to question the charges he hung up on me!!! Here's the deal, I didn't lock my keys in my car or my home. I didn't lose my keys and was not desperate for their services. I called and simply asked if they could make a key for my truck. I was shopping prices, the man I spoke to asked what I needed and I explained that I wanted to see how much it would cost to make a key for my truck. He asked for my name, address and telephone number. I explained that I only wanted a price. He then stated that the technician would quote the price after he arrived to make the key. I again explained that I was not interested in having it done immediately and he began to understand. He basically told me not to waste his time and hung up. It was very apparent that they are fishing and preying on people who have to have something opened immediately. I would highly recommend not using this company and if you do, get the quote in writing before they perform the work. Companies like this should not be allowed to be in business. read more
