Completely overpriced for the service. I'm incredibly bad about locking my keys in my car. In fact, I have locked myself out 3 times in the last year alone, so I think I'm well acquainted with car-unlocking services in Austin. Previously I'd used pop-a-lock, which is in the ball park of $50, and a taxi driver, who charged $35. I only ended up using Austin Locksmith because pop-a-lock's number was busy and I was using my neighbor's mobile phone to call a locksmith -- she got the number for Austin Locksmith, so I didn't have much choice. Austin locksmith charges $80, their service cars are unmarked, their service people don't show ID, and I can't find out what their $15 "service call" fee is based on. When *wouldn't* you have to call them to use their services? To be fair --The dude at Austin locksmith said that their services are safer for your car than pop-a-lock, BUT he used the exact same method of opening my door as they had. He also said that their services are covered by full coverage car insurance, but I don't have full coverage insurance and told the service guy that. He wouldn't give me a discount. I should have called AAA, but the last time I did, the guy showed up after two hours and had forgotten his jimmy rod. Erg. Hopefully I won't need to unlock my car again, but if I do, I'm definitely not calling these guys. read more

Interestingly I had a similar experience to Joe H. I only wish I had read his review before I called them. I needed some padlocks cut off my storage cage downtown as I lost the key. I was also quoted a 29.99 service fee plus labor. When the tech got there (late) we had a strange conversation. He wanted to make sure they hadn't quoted me a price. When I told them I hadn't heard a price he said, "Good". Then he cut off one of the locks and told me it was going to be $125, with the $49.99 service fee. I explained I was told it was a $29.99 fee and he said, "oh, yeah yeah but it is still $125. I was shocked. That meant their labor rate was $380/hr since he was there for about 15 minutes. He acted upset when I said I couldn't pay him in cash and that I would have to use a credit card. He them pressured me to go to an ATM and get money out but I refused. Things started feeling very shady. I called Austin Locksmith the next day to let them know since he was an independent contractor. I felt like he was pocketing the extra money and thought they would want to know. I talked to Patty. I ended up having to call them 6 times. Every time she promised me she would call back and days later, each time, I never heard back from her. Each time I also had to remind her of my story and a couple of times she even said, "So, what do you want us to do?" They eventually refunded $20 which I only knew about when I checked my statement. Yesterday I called Austin Locksmith after locking myself out of my condo... if I had only known how difficult they were going to be I would have hung up after the first ring. When I called, the dispatcher said that the technician would call me in a few minutes to let me know how far away he was, and he did. The technician said that he was about 30 minutes away, which I was perfectly fine with (even though other companies promised service in closer to 15-20 minutes). After waiting for over an HOUR the tech finally showed up to my house without calling to tell me he would be late. Once he finally got up to my condo he looked at my door and complained that it was two locks (a deadbolt and a door knob) and proceeded to berate me for not telling him sooner. I let him know that I had told the dispatcher about the locks but that evidently was not enough. He goes on to tell me that for the deadbolt it would be $49.00 and for the doorknob it would be $29.00 plus labor, so when I said "how much is this going to cost me?" he said it would be $155.00... in case you're checking that is about $300/ hr! After hearing that ridiculous price quote I told him to forget it and I would just smash in one of my windows because that would be cheaper to replace. When he DEMANDED the $25.00 service charge for him making the trip out to my house I refused to pay for it because he was not only late (double the promised time) but his level of professionalism was lacking in more ways than one. The technician told me that he would have to call the police if I refused to pay him! I asked that he call his supervisor so I could please explain my unwillingness to pay a service charge when I had never been afforded any service. He refused numerous times until I finally called the company myself, the dispatcher told me that she would call his supervisor and they would get back to me. Sure enough, the supervisor did call him, but I got to listen to the tech telling his boss that the reason I wouldn't pay the service charge is because "she says it's too expensive and she doesn't want to pay for the job" (not at all why I would not pay). After all that his supervisor finally calls me on my line where I tell her that yes, their prices are out of my range and that is not their fault at all, but what IS their fault is that their technician showed up thirty minutes late without notifying me at all. I argued that if I had called another company like Cothron's or Pop-A-Lock they would have already been finished by the time this company's tech even showed up. It is at this point that the woman on the phone with me says "You're the one who locked yourself out of your house, why are you blaming everyone else for wasting your time?!" As far as I am concerned this was completely uncalled for. I never once said it was the company's fault that I was locked out, I simply refused to pay a "service fee" when I never got ANY customer service. This would be when I got hung up on. This company is only in business because people are unaware that there are any other options! I called Pop-A-Lock after this and they arrived earlier than expected and charged me only $56.00. I just bought a new house and wanted to get the locks re-keyed (because I didn't know how many people had copies of the old keys). They told me $29 plus labor. There was no warning and then they handed me a bill for $459!!! I had no choice but to pay. I am a private school teacher and am eating Ramon noodles all month now because they tapped me dry. The tech was very knowledgeable and kind, but I was not prepared for this total amount. I feel cheated and disgusted... and embarrassed. I wish I had just bought new door knobs & bolts and installed them myself. These guys ripped me off! My story is similar to all of those below. First, I called Cothron's, but got some kind of recording that didn't connect me to the night locksmith. So I went to the next name on the list, Locksmith Austin. The dispatcher said it would be $39 for the service call and the locksmith would be there in 20 minutes. She also said the price to open the door would be based on what he had to do to open the door. Seemed reasonable. She also said the day rate was the same as the night rate. Wow! I thought, how lucky! *40* minutes later, some dude shows up, sees the lock and says, it's a 'standard lock,' the fee will be $80 + the $40 service call fee. (The dispatcher said $39, but I wasn't going to quibble over $1, still, this goes along with their general unprofessionalism.) However, when we balked at paying $80 to open the door, he threatened to leave, insisting that we would have to pay the $40 service fee. Of course, he knows that's a deterrent to canceling the call bc he knows you will have to turn around and pay someone else, right? So, I told the guy that I felt the dispatcher should have at least mentioned the fee to unlock a standard lock BEGINS at $80, to which, he became very defensive. I mean, one knows it isn't going to be cheap, but this verges on highway robbery! But, of course, when you're locked out of your house at midnight, they know they can really stick it to you - and get away with it! Well, after several failed tries with a balloon-thingy and jimmy, he decided to switch strategies. Now, he tells us he has to drill the lock, which will permanently damage the door lock and wants our permission to continue. At the same time, he mentions that he has a similar one out in the truck that he will install for free. So, we agree and he drills out the lock which takes about 2-minutes ( a grand total of about 15-minutes on the job). Then he goes out to the truck to get the new door lock set and returns a few minutes later only to tell us that he doesn't have the lock after all, but that he has another, better one, which he can install for an additional $40! At this point, we begin to complain that this is all very unprofessional to which he retorts that he has been really nice to us by offering us a free lock (which he couldn't produce). He is basically incapable of seeing anything wrong with what he is doing. And we, seeing that we were getting nowhere with our argument, told him to get his things and take off, that we would finish the job. Then in a pathetic attempt to make us feel better about being ripped off, told us lots of people had paid him plenty more to get their doors unlocked, and by the reviews below, apparently it's true. I told him that he should feel ashamed of himself for taking such advantage of people's misfortune. It really stung to pay this dude $120, especially knowing that we would have to replace and install the new door lock ourselves! **By the way, if you have a drill, just save yourself a bunch of money and drill through the door knob handle and the lock will pop itself open. Just used this company and feel REALLY ripped off. I had locked myself out of my apartment and my landlord doesn't do key service, so I had to call a locksmith. Austin Lightspeed Locksmith was the first result and advertised $15 service calls so I used them. The lady on the phone told me it would be $15 plus labor. I thought that seemed fine. The locksmith arrived within five minutes, which was great, but when I showed him my door he said that type of lock was difficult and it would cost $169 PLUS the $15. $184!!! I was horrified but because he was already there I agreed. Literally 10 seconds after I agreed he had the door open. I protested the cost, and he offered to knock the $15 off and that was he could do. I begrudging paid him. As he was leaving, he gave me his card and said to call him directly next time and it would be half off, which only made me even more mad about the outrageous cost I just paid. Like most, I followed their $15 add on google. Spoke with the dispatcher and was told 15 for the service call and a little more for labor. When i asked she said depending on the car and how they have to open it. I told her mine was a 2003 chev cavalier and she said that wouldn't be much more than the 15 service fee. SO i think awesome! Well my first complaint is i was told the guy would be at my car within 15 min. 45 minutes later he shows up and says ya i can't slim jim your car so it will cost more. You can slim jim my car because i have done this before and slim jim has worked just fine. I told him this and he got angry and i got angry. He refused to even try it. Being pressed for time i gave in and just told him to unlock the door. he did took him all of 20 sec and then handed me a bill for $87. I was like $87!!!!!! WTF. he said that because he had to use the air bags that it cost more. I was SOOOO angry he even pulled his van behind mine so i couldn't leave till i paid the entire amount. Don't even bother contacting this company, I'm pretty sure they make their money solely off of misleading tactics and, and manipulation of a situation. It says 10$ locksmith online, you assume it'll be 10 dollars minimum for the job? Not simply for them to come, not even look at the car lock and charge 120$ right off the bat. Even when I asked on the phone what would the charge be, the service guy didn't bother to tell me an estimate and just said "I have to check out your car to tell you." That should have been a huge warning sign. Yeah right he couldn't tell me over the phone. These guys were second company I found when "googling" locksmith cedar park on the internet. They guy who showed up was upset because I told him I need a letterhead on the receipt to file with Progressive insurance. He then had the ba**s to tell me I should drop Progressive! I filled out the paperwork and then asked him the fee. When he said $180 I told him he should be ashamed of himself. Then he mentioned being in Iraq...which I don't think is in anyway related, so I countered with I am a 24 year military retiree. So I gave him $20 for a service call and told him to hit the road. I then called their company number back to say I was reporting them to the better business bureau. The dude who answered the phone said "do what you have to do". I'm sure they get complaints continually. I then called Progressive back and told them to go ahead and send their tech out to do the work; didn't realize this is what I should have done to begin with, but only found this out after asking them how I can get reimbursed and the SHEISTER company was already on the way out and I felt obligated. I feel scammed for sure. My carkeys were in a backpack that got stolen over the holidays. My insurance company called these guys to come meet me at the airport to get a new key made up as I did not have a spare. The guy on the phone quoted $75 for a key and intentionally did not mention the extremely inflated labor fees. He told me only when it was too late to get someone else after we were already at the car with our luggage. The damage? $75 for key $120 for labor $25 to open the car door (which he did with a key, btw. It's not like he had to Macgyver it.) With tax, it came out to just over $250. The total process from the time of him getting out the right key and cutting it was less than 15 minutes. (My car key is the typical piece of metal with plastic. No electronics). I have never felt so threathend in my life. The locksmith stalked me for two and a half hours at night. I have locked my keys in my car before. I know that it only cost $35. I call this company a lady answered and I said I need somebody to come out I locked my keys in my car. She was very friendly so that they can take care of me. I asked her how much it will cost me she quoted me $35. The locksmith guy showed up in about 5 minutes. pulled up with his wife so I immediately felt safe. I was super grateful that he was there to help me get into my car. I just got off of work it was 7 p.m. and I wanted to go home. The guy tells me that it's going to cost me $161 to get my keys out of my car. I looked at him and said you are kidding me right. He goes on that he is licensed and bonded blah blah blah. I looked at him and said I have never paid that much. He said things have changed within the past year. I told him I just recently locked my keys out and it was $35. I told him I would be better off breaking my window then paying him $161 to pop my lock. He told me ok I'll give you a deal. I can do it for $80. I told him that was still way too much. I told him I didn't need his services that I will do it myself. Then he has the audacity to tell me that I need to pay him $25 for coming out. I told him I'm not paying you money for something you didn't even fix. Mind you I'm all by myself it is late at night and my keys are locked in my car. So I start walking away from my car and I called the police. While I'm on the phone with the police he starts writing down my VIN number. I told the police that I felt threatened and that this guy is trying to scam me. I walk away from my car and stand by my store.(that i cannot get in to) The guy sits in his car for like 10 minutes and realizes I'm calling the police. So he drives off next door to Wendy's and him and his wife PRETEND to get dinner. This is at 7:41 p.m. I'm thinking why is he going to eat at Wendy's ? What is he waiting for? I'm all by myself why would he do this? The police officer showed up he said that he had to deal with this a couple days ago himself. The police officer went to go talk to the locksmith who is still parked at Wendy's and has been finished eating and just sitting in his truck. The police officer goes and talks to him and asks him what is going on. The locksmith then tells the police officer that I didn't want to pay him. But since the police officer already dealt with this same situation. He was prepared for his BS. The locksmith told him that him and his wife were just getting dinner and that they would leave shortly. Mind you the whole reason I called the police is because he was not leaving at all and he was staying there. I don't know what he was doing or why he was staying there so I felt threatened. The police officer came back and told me that he was going to stay here until the other tow company came. I asked him why was he still not leaving. The police officer told me that he thinks if the locksmith drove off immediately that would he would look guilty. So that's why the police officer assumed he was still sitting there. I I call my husband crying because this guy is still not leaving. So he calls the company and ask why they quoted me a wrong quote and why is he still sitting out there. The lady said that they were just getting dinner. My husband had said what for 2 hours. My husband told him that he needed to leave or we were going to press charges for harassment. It was finally 9 o'clock when they finally left. Meanwhile I called my insurance and I had roadside assistance so they sent out a tow company to help me. It was 8 o'clock and my insurance company told me it was going to be 45 minutes to an hour. I get into my car and leave. I don't ever post on Yelp. This guy was totally trying to scam me I guess he thought I looked like an idiot. I've never in my life have I felt so threatened. There was nothing I could do nowhere to go. I locked my keys in my car with my spare key also locked inside. I eventually gave in and called a locksmith. They advertised a $15 service fee on Google so I thought I'd be getting a deal. They advertise being lightning fast and that was right. Within 15 minutes, our locksmith arrived. He took my ID and car info, and decided to charge me $85 on top of the $15 advertised fee. $95 total for 15 minutes of work? REALLY? On the bright side, he was very fast, professional, and took care to keep my car scratch-free. I also needed to transfer money into my checking account but my phone happened to be dead, so he lent me his and was extremely nice. I'm still upset about feeling ripped-off but at least the overall experience was better than expected. Make sure you know that the $15 is JUST the fee for having them drive out to you. The person who served me arrived less than five minutes late, was polite and nice company in the cold weather as he unlocked my car. If I was able to give a 1/2 star I would. My keys got locked inside my car by one of my kids. I googled "pop-a-lock" on my phone. This company was the first to come up. They came pretty quickly. But they charged $135!!! I thought the going rate was like $45. Afterwards I called the real Pop-A-Lock company, they quoted me $44.95. How I wished I went with them. I called and complained to the supervisor the next day. Their website states the starting price is $25 with a $10 service fee...that's $35. I asked how it went from $35 to $135, she said it's because they get there fast and open the car fast. WHAT??? So you're gonna charge me an extra $100 bucks simply cause you got there fast or happen to be in the area in the first place? After dealing a rude lady on the phone (I love it when I call places and they answer "hello?" so your not sure if you have the right number or not) I was told service would be 29.99 + labor and that a tech would be at my house in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later I get a call saying the tech has left and will be another 20 minutes. 40 minutes after that the tech finally shows up to my house, and after about 5 minutes of bumping the lock gets the door open. At this point he informs me it will be 155 dollars total. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS they would not mention that labor is 120 dollars per 10 minutes. Avoid this service. read more

The company is called Austin Light-Speed Locksmith. This is the most outrageously expensive car locksmith around. To unlock a 2005 dodge neon, they charged $84 plus a $15 service fee! PLEASE!! Pop-a-Lock would have done it for $40. When I called to get an estimate, the lady on the phone said, "$15 service fee plus $35 and up for unlocking the car." Okay, so $35 and up justifies charging the customer double the estimate? I don't think so! They said, "Well, we are licensed and we don't have untrained 16 year olds unlocking cars like Pop-a-lock." Apparently they don't know anything about Pop-a-Lock. PoL only sends trained technicians, and since they have to be licensed, they are not 16 years old. Their technician told my daughter to sign an invoice without telling her how much the price was, and then after he did tell her the price, he neglicted to say that it did not include the service fee. So, for $99, he charged over twice what other locksmiths would have charged, and he did it deceptively When I called the office number, the man kept saying, "you cannot do anything, your daughter signed the invoice." He obviously doesn't know the power of word of mouth. If you get locked out of your car, call pop-a-lock and save yourself some of your hard earned money. I know I will if the need ever arises again. In short, these people are scam artists. I called in response to their $15 service call ads on Google. I spoke to the dispatcher who said it would cost $15 plus labor. I asked "About how much will that be total?" Since I already told her the make and model of my car, I thought she could provide a rough estimate, at least. She just repeated herself, so I asked "Ok, so not much more than $15?" and she said yes. The locksmith showed up in about 15 minutes, took my ID and looked at my car quickly. He then told me the total would be $110. I told him that that was not what I was led to believe on the phone and he got very angry and tried to intimidate me into paying the service call fee. My wife locked her keys inside her car, called them because of they came up on google and stated $15, and was charged $75 after they had already opened the door. When I complained about the extra charge, this is their response taken directly from an email. "Sorry for the inconvenience, but our website states $15 mobile locksmith SERVICE CALL. We charge a $15 service fee for every customer visit we make. The total cost of your job will depend on the services rendered as labor plus materials purchased along with the $15 service call." When I asked what their hourly rate was then and what materials are used when opening a car door, I got no response. If they want to charge $75 to open a door, that's fine, just don't say it's going to $15!!! Hopefully enough people will read this review that Austin light-speed locksmith will change this practice or be out of business. Awful on the phone when I asked the service tech about the standard price, I got $15 plus $25 minimum for labor depending on vehicle security. I told him if it was going to be much more than that I wasnt sure I would be willing to go along. I then asked how long before he would be at my home and got a 25 minutes response. 35 minutes later the lockout person had not arrived. I called their dispatch to learn he had told them I wanted to cancel because I was unwilling to pay the price. I had not cancelled so they had the same service tech call me again, this time he got threatening. I called dispatch and said they needed to send someone else at which point I was told that they did not need or want my business. I am so glad I did not waste my $$ with them and having a horendous bill run up. I would have been the other reviewer that refused to pay except I would have called police. The dispatcher and the locksmith were arrogant and intimidating. As it was I found a great service through tip top tow that unlocked my vehicle for $40. I was quoted $40 and paid $40. I had this company come out to unlock my truck. Guy said it would be $15, then he got here... After he explained to me that I was going to have to pay extra for the company to insure his work because he planned on using an unnecessary process that "might" damage my truck I was automatically skeptical, but then when he told me it would cost me $120 plus the $15 fee just for showing up I knew I was being hustled. I called Pop-a-lock (PAL) who was here just a quickly and quoted me $45 which is exactly what they charged...and they had the door opened quicker than it took Austin Locksmith to pitch his scam to me. BEWARE for such scams as the technician who opened my door told me that the most PAL would charge on a Sunday or in the middle of the night is $60. read more

We have never locked our keys in the house and have no clue what others charge to get you in. What I can say for this company is they are what they say they are, super fast. The guy was at our house in 15 minutes and got the door open in less than a minute. I was quoted $15 service fee and "addition cost depending on work necessary" and that is what we paid. Was the cost fair? At $115 plus $15, I am not sure. I have nothing to compare it to and hope I never do. On another note, why is it that folks on here don't understand what a service call fee is? I asked the women on the phone the cost to unlock my front door- and she said $15 to come out there (central Austin) but she would not give me a price range over the phone- she stated, it would be around that cost. So, the lock- smith came to my house & he said it's $175, plus $15 for tax (for an easy lock). I pd. feeling taken advantaged of and later found out (from other locksmith) it cost about $60-75. 2nd time I called the company, same women answered the phone, & said that $175 is the average price, & that I should LIE to my insurance & say I had a faulty key to get the money reimburse. WHAT??!! NO! I told her the cost is too high, and I want some money back. She said no. 3rd call. I called her again, & let her know, I read poor reviews about her business, and I am going to write a review to let other people know. And the guy wasn't even done until 2:30 am, despite the fact that I called them at 8:45 I called the locksmith's boss and complained, guy knocked $40 off the bill and said "Listen, junior. DO NOT USE THESE SCAMMERS!! Austin Lightspeed Locksmith aka 24/7 locksmith quoted me $15 to send out a technician and then a labor fee once on site. I had locked my keys in the trunk of my car. She also told me on the phone on a brand new car such as mine, they wouldn't use a slim jim old fashioned method and that they had "special tools". He arrived twenty minutes later, but this guy was in a purple minivan and had a different company name on the door. He said he was sub-contracted with Austin Lightspeed Locksmith. So I paid the $15 then he said it would cost an additional $100 and that he would use a bar to put inside the side of the window and the door to push the button to maneuver the electric lock. That is a Slim Jim!!! The lady on the phone is uneducated on "special tools" he told me. I refused and said nevermind, I don't have $100. He called the office and they said okay, he can do it for $60. I said I honestly just don't have that much money and he said fine. THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I locked my keys in my trunk while I was putting things in my trunk at a target shopping center. I called this place because it was the first place that came up when I googled Austin Locksmith. When I called, they told me it was going to be 19.00 for the guy to come out and then 30.00 for him to get my car open. HA! This joker shows up 40 minutes later and immediately writes me up a quote for 129.00. I asked him why on earth the price was more than double what I was originally quoted. He tells me "well, with cars that are newer than 2005 (so every can in the last DECADE), they have a tighter seal on the window and sometimes we have to make a key, blah blah"--Anyway, made me believe it was going to be SO much trouble to get into my car. Well, as soon as I threatened to call someone else, he immediately said "oh wait, actually I can make the price $100.00 BUT you have to sign this write now" ...well thinking I was going to get a discount for this MAJORLY hard procedure, I signed unknowingly. Welp, he stuck a little balloon in the seal, used a little snake to pull the door handle, and POOF he was in. I said, "phew, well thank goodness you didnt have to make a key or any of that crazy stuff you described"...HE STILL MADE ME PAY 100.00 for NOTHING. I was so angry and I felt so taken advantage of. Had my keys stolen and called AAA to get a locksmith to open my car. I called the company myself, told them the situation, let them know what kind of car (BMW), and got a quote from a guy named Ali of $60. With my membership, AAA covers up to $60 so I thought it was perfect. I called AAA to set up the request but after they contacted Austin Locksmith, told me the total was $125, $65 out of pocket. Double what he had quoted me earlier!! I called Austin Locksmith back and the guy who answered the phone said the discrepancy in the quote was due to the fact that I didn't mention what kind of car I had. I know for a fact I did mention the car type because earlier in the day I had called the BMW dealership to order a new key and they told me not all locksmiths will work on beemers due to the electronics in the door, so when I called Austin Locksmith, I specifically asked if they work on BMW'S. I hung up, then called two other locksmiths in Austin and got quotes. One quoted me $44.95 and the other said $47.95. Both said the price is same regardless of what type of vehicle one has. Needless to say, this is the shadiest, most dishonest company and I have no idea how they are still in business. I think they are also associated with Armada Towing which is a shame because I had them come out to tow my car Saturday morning and the driver Mustafa was very nice, honest, and hardworking. Do yourself a favor and if you have AAA, find and pay for a locksmith, and submit your receipt for a reimbursement. DON'T GIVE THESE CROOKS YOUR MONEY! read more

I mean you get the idea... Guy came. Said it would be $95 to get my keys out of my car. I laughed in his face and he had to be joking. He then said the best he could do was $65. I then called pop-a-lock in front of him and they quoted me $44.95. Told him he could do it for that or leave. He did it for that price but he was definitely not happy about it. Outrageous ! I paid $204.60 to have a salon roll about unlocked! $19 trip charge, $189 to pick lock which he did not do, plus tax. Then he wanted cash, and was not a trustworthy person. The whole experience was horrible. This does not deserve any stars. After he left I got a call from the "Money Store" he was already cashing the check. I am so angry with these people. This company deserves a zero star. Austin locksmith 24, phone number 512-434-0484. Saturday, I came out of the front door, and accidentally the door went locked. My staff was waiting for me, and had to use his phone to look for someone to come out. This company advertises $10, and price for lockout of residential service start at $25.00. When I called them, they would not give me a price over the phone. I told them it was a standard lock. When the guy came out, immediately he wanted to charge $279.00 plus the $10 trip fee. He spent a lot of time tell me how difficult this lock was. I told them this was ridiculous price, especially when they quote started at $25.00. How much variation can a lock be to go up from $25 to $279.00? He then put the scare to me that not too many people work on a Saturday. He then proceeded to show me a bill that it was common for $279 charge for this service. I proceeded to call other companies, and then he said $200.00. I was desperate because my staff had to leave. Everything was locked in the house. It took him under 2 min to unlock the door. I asked him what he used. He proceeded to tell me the airbag that he used cost over $1000.00. When I google airbag for lock out. It costs less than 30.00. I called the company, the girl on the phone said the manager won't be in until Monday. I called twice to talk to this Dave, manager. He finally returned the call, and immediately, he yelled on the phone, and said "you should not have agreed to the price, and don't bother finding me, I am located in India" I believe in people needing to make a fair living for their services, but to charge people in need for $200 for a 2 min job, is way ridiculous, I called it "highway robbery". I gave the company a chance to rectify this, but this Dave chose to have more bad reviews than doing the right thing. We are in a desperate situation when we get locked out. I should have read the reviews before I called this company; they have been ripping people off for so long. Please do not call this company, again 512-434-0484. They had a Google ad, and do not use them. They will rip you off again and again. What worse is having these crooks go around having access to your house. It makes you feel so unsafe. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. These people are a ripoff. I called and asked how much it would be to have someone come rekey four locks in my home. The woman said they charged a $15 trip charge, plus "about" $12.95 per lock. I asked how I would know whether it would be $12.95 or higher; she said that the locksmith would look at the locks and let me know, but that if the price was higher I would still have to pay the $15 trip charge. I took and chance and they sent a locksmith out. He calculated that the bill would be over $100. When I pointed out that it should be more like $67, he acted like I was an idiot and said there was also a $55 "labor and installation" charge. I told him to forget it. He seemed really pissed that I wasn't willing to pay what he wanted to charge. DON'T CALL THESE PEOPLE unless you just enjoy being ripped off. read more

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a locksmith. I lost the keys for my storage unit and I needed someone to come out and drill out the lock. I was quoted a $19 service call fee and $25 to drill out the lock. So the locksmith gets there late, spends 20 minutes or so trying to pick the lock, and then ends up drilling out the lock. It was a married couple that came out to take care of my lock problems. Being in the same hallway was uncomfortable with them because they kept referencing their sex life. Then it got worse when the lady started trying to tell me it was going to be 70 to pick the lock and 99 to drill out the lock plus the service call fee. She kept going on about how hard it would be to pick the lock and how they would need safety gear to drill out the lock. Neither of them had any sort of protective equipment. They didn't even go to get any safety equipment when they quit messing around and got around to drilling out the lock. So this whole time these people are working on my storage unit, they kept talking about how all the lock companies in Austin are owned by Jews and Israelis and how terrible they are and how they all needed to go die. I'm not Jewish, but still it was super offensive. When they finally got the lock drilled out they opened my storage unit door to "check that they didn't damage anything". They were hardcore looking at what all I have stored and commenting on the value of thing I have stored in my unit (which isn't much... its mostly Christmas decorations....) and what kind of price they could get for it at a pawn shop. Then as they were leaving they handed me their personal business card with rates on it. If you call them directly its half price.... But you also run the risk of your things getting stolen. Holy Crap. It was so weird that they kept trying to tell me to shop local business and just call them directly. It was so weird though. I am completely appalled at how this company is still in business. I left my house to walk to the school to get my son and I took one of my dogs with me. The other dog was evidently eager to get out so must have jumped up and accidentally hit the deadbolt and locked me out of the house. When I called Austin locksmith I was told there would be a $10 service fee plus a $25 minimum charge. I told them it was a deadbolt in my garage and they said $35 would be the minimum charge but if it took longer and was more problematic, the rate would go up. When the young man came to the house, he immediately quoted me at minimum rate of 175 to pick the lock and 225 if it had to be drilled. I questioned him and during that process he already had the lock picked within 30 seconds. I was charged 175 plus the $10 service fee. $185 for a 30-second service. Of course I payed because I needed in my home and felt there was no other choice. I did tell him I was not happy with the situation and that I would call the company to discuss the fee. When I called them, the woman said there was nothing she could do about it and I could call next week to speak with a manager. After looking at the one-star reviews, I realized I made a huge mistake. Please never ever be manipulated by this company! I feel stupid but was in a tight spot with my car keys and phone all locked in my house I didn't have much option. I had borrowed a phone from a neighbor so I felt limited on the research time. I feel like I have been taken advantage of instead of offered a service for a fair price. DON'T DO IT!! read more

I called them yesterday to retrieve car keys locked in the trunk. Dispatcher was not very cordial. The first technician couldn't access the trunk and so a second was called out. He couldn't access it either. They worked on the car or five hours. My husband arrived home with his friend (the vehicle owner) and took a look at it. Within about 5 minutes my husband figured out the back seats folded down so the trunk could be accessed thru there. I called to cancel the third technician that was in route from the same company. In short, they tore up the interior of the vehicle and drilled out the trunk lock, wasted five hours of my time and STILL couldn't get my keys out. My advice, do not use them! read more

The company is lightspeed locksmith. The lady on the phone said it'd be 30 bucks to come out then labor and parts would be assessed. I already had all the parts required. I asked if it'd be over 100 and she said no. The locksmith spent about 45 minutes drilling into my lock and getting the new one on. He then took my CC number and told me they billed back at the office so call and ask about my total or check my bank statement. 235 dollars!
