I used to love long john silvers. So did my wife. Spent twenty five dollars on food at this location fish, chicken strip, fries and hush puppies and the food was so damn greasy that was all you could taste was grease. The only thing edible of or meal was the two pieces of pie we got. Service was slow as hell too took forever to get or food. People that work here could give two shits less about customer service. Brought the greasy ass food back and talked to a assistant manager with a i.q of three. Showed him recite where I paid for the food. He wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to do. After five minutes of looking at me I said are you going to refund my money or redo my food. He said we will redo it. I handed him back the greasy ass food and he said you can keep it we can't take it back. Took over 25 minutes for there stupid asses to get my food out too me and when I got it home it was some better but you could still taste grease. This place sucks big time. Yes, I know it is a fast food restaurant and that a true "foodie" won't bother to review but I think all food service establishments should be rated no matter what their gourmet level is. Having said that, I have a weakness for LJS - my 2nd favorite fast food place next to Chick-fil-A. Love the LJS chicken, fries, coleslaw, hushpuppies, and fish. I've eaten here twice and the food is always hot and fresh. The man who takes orders is so full of pep and personality - and willing to make a customer happy! Gave me a great deal on a special even though I was wanting substitutions. I was so surprised (most places won't do this) I asked him why and his answer? We want you to be happy and come back. The fish was ok. The chicken planks are half the size they used to be. Fries and chicken were soaked in stale grease. Hushpuppies were half fresh and half stale instead of cooking all fresh. They did not give us extra green beans we paid for. Sooooo disappointed that I paid a great deal for terrible food. read more

Unfortunately not so hot. Food taste was as expected but technically my order was slightly wrong. Not a big deal, and I didn't say anything because they were having a pretty rough go while I was there. They had 3 crew members quit while I was there leaving only one person working, so he was trying but he told me I was gonna be the last person he served for the evening. I am generally pretty satisfied with LJS on N. Glenstone. The food is usually properly fried and made fresh. I really hate it if the batter on the fish is not crisp all the way through. The coleslaw is a little lacking, or I would have given it five stars. This is not to be confused with giving a restaurant like Red Lobster five stars, as you can't compare fast food to a place that charges $25 per plate. It's apples to oranges. The biggest problem with fast food places is that they go through managers pretty often (due to low wages) and the quality can take an instant nose-dive. That can happen at any place, but the upper management at expensive places will usually notice the problem very quickly and remedy it. Upper management at fast food places is usually a thousand miles away. read more

I agree with previous reviewer. Each restaurant deserves to be rated even if it is fast food. I haven't eaten at Long John Silvers in decades as I thought it closed down. As someone who had this as a child before highly processed ingredients, I am sensitive to taste and texture. I was ready for this to be a mediocre experience but I was curious. I was pleasantly surprised, and treated to a delightfully tasty meal that reminded me of the same flavor and texture of batter as before. The fish was succulent with a lightly crisp coating, tasty, and not greasy! Not a crumb coating either--this is a real batter dip. The cocktail sauce tasted the same too. And crumbs were included, the same crumbs people used to ask for as a side just to eat as a snack. Shrimp was whole shrimp, not something questionable that was ground up as with other places. The chicken was Service was very good as well. The establishment is clean though they could use a dry towel to ensure the table tops are dry. This may be the best fish and chips in town for the money as it's not over priced, it's consistent, and the coating is wonderful. Even the corn was good. It didn't feel overcooked or like it came out of a can, or like it'd been sitting in a warmer for hours. The hushpuppies are smaller and were a little pasty inside, the coating not as robust as before, but the taste was good. Okra also good, the size of the okra was respectable, batter could have been a hair thinner. I would absolutely go out of my way to return when I have a craving for fish and chips, even though it's out of my way. Remarkably, this company has obviously maintained consistency over decades with it's product which is far more than I can say for most. Miles better than Captain D's. If you're in the mood for fish and chips, this is more than decent. You can find coupons on their website too. Had I known the quality and flavor were still the same, I'd have been by over the years. No as impressed as I usually am with this Long John Silver's. When I first walked in the smell should have told me something, it smelled a lot like a bathroom or that the restaurant was mopped with old water, really it smelled like urine. Then I ordered my food and gave the cashier my money and he gave me my change and then turned around to give the kitchen my order and as soon as he did, the cooks said order up. I thought it was for someone else only there were no other customers in there at the time (6:30 pm) another warning sign. Literally less than 30 seconds for my food, I'm cool with fast food but who knows how long that had been sitting there. Anyway, sat down and the food was indeed good but I ate pretty fast so I could get out if there due to the smell (again, smelled like urine). read more

Every LJS is different. This one's entrance is even not what we're used to. Large 2-sided dining room is nice. We were greeted by a very friendly Seth, who was great to visit with and took our order with genuine care. We shared the fish and shrimp combo and had leftovers to take home. Eat here, you'll want to ring the bell when you leave. We heard it ring several times on our visit so that's a good sign. read more
