I decided to stop by LJS for dinner and was glad I did. I was dealing with a death of a family member and my mind has been all over the place in thought. I ordered my food and got to the window. There I met a kind gentle soul. Jesse opened the window and his customer service was off the charts. He made me smile and, which I have not done in days, and he made me feel important. I've been passing by LJS for approximately a year and finally decided to stop in and see if it was as tasty as I remembered. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. The place was a little outdated but very very clean, they were mopping and wiping the drink area down while I was there. I ordered the 2 piece fish with fries and coleslaw. I received my food in about 7 minutes and it was piping hot and looked amazing. The 2 women working there were friendly courteous and a total vibe. Let's just say I inhaled the food which is why I don't have an actual picture. The fish drenched in malt vinegar with tarter and ketchup OMG, coleslaw sweet and vinegary and it's a must you mix the crunchies with your fries. Service - he tried...apologized for lack of cocktail sauce...said they had run out of inventory and had to have an "emergency shipment" from another store to have product. Also, had to ask for the drink that came with the combo as it didn't come across the window first. Ambiance - its an old, worn out concept in a building that feels dirty and greasy. A deep steam cleaning is in order in lieu of burning the place down and rebuilding...if the concept is even economically viable anymore. The thing you first notice when you walk in is friendly atmosphere. You really felt like family when you walk in. The employees were super friendly. When they brought our food, it was nice and piping hot. The food was good and there was a lot of it. not only were the employees friendly, but the other customers were friendly as well. I haven't been to Long John Silver's in a long time. First time since maybe 10 years ago. The fish was just as good as it was the last time I had it. Batter was crispy and the fish was cooked well. In recent years I've noticed a decline in the quality of food and service at Long John Silvers. Happily the one in Carrolton on Midway is not one of those! The food was as good as I remember, they still have clam strips and crab cakes available (many of them no longer do) and the meal came with a wealth of their beloved crumblies at no extra cost. The shrimp was large, the clam strips were a good size and the crab cake was delicious. The cole slaw was excellent but subtle and the veggies were tasty. The service was polite and quick and the crew seemed like a happy bunch. If you're a long time fan of LJS, as I am, and despair over the fact that there are fewer of them ever year, try the one in Carrolton on Midway! Definitely worth it! I ordered off Uber eats & the food tasting like it's been sitting for a while. The fries are old tasting. Before I started eating I called and asked who packages the Uber eats orders? Because it specifically says "tartar sauce"! I feel like those are things you really should pay attention to because you just might mess up someone's entire order by forgetting their sauce. Drive-thru excellence!!! The gentleman at the drive-thru window had the coolest voice- Kinda of a mix of James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman! When I ordered my cheese curds, fries, and root beer float, I was as excited as a kid in a candy store! These treats were things I remembered from my childhood and I said, when I get to be an adult and have money and can drive, I can order these foods whenever I want to!!! So when I drove through the neighborhood and saw Long johns Silver and A&W, the little kid in me freaked out and I think I squealed on the phone when I was telling my husband that I was going to go through somewhere and pick up food! I used to dread going here, but now I'm always greeted by someone friendly and my order is hot and fresh. The new person they've put in charge is doing a great job! Every now and then I have to get my greasy food fix, and LJS is usually my go to. When I lived in Plano, this location was one of two that were close to me. The food is consistently good, but like I said, it is LJS, so you should expect it to be greasy/oily. The orders are always fresh here and the grease is usually clean, which you can tell from the light color of the crust and the taste. I have loved LJS since I was a kid. This location is for whatever reason mixed with A&W. I have no idea why, and I have never ordered from that side of the menu. So I can't give 5 stars, however, I have never had a bad experience at this location. read more
