First, the spot is actually really cozy and has a well-maintained neighborhood vibe. It's self-seating so we picked a spot near the huge flatscreen so we could also watch a little television. Service was friendly and attentive. The menu is HUGE, so maybe study it a bit to cut down on decision fatigue. I was initially torn between a breakfast plate and the cheese blintzes. I figured, why not go with the blintzes, because you don't really see as an option much these days. I also got a side of cherry compote and orange juice. The orange juice was nice and pulpy. As for the cheese blintzes and the cherry compote- I think I could've done without it- it made it too sweet. But, it was served in the side, so iI just didn't eat much of it. The blintzes themselves were very good and definitely had a very gratifying texture. Slightly sweet on their own, but not too much. My husband had the franks and beans. I didn't try them, but I did snag a French fry and it was very good- golden and perfectly crispy with a piping hot soft center. Prices were a bit steep, but this is a neighborhood restaurant and iI think it's always good to support locally when you can. Goodness knows, prices for goods is high and labor is not cheap. Overall, I would definitely consider coming here again, but this time I would like to try one of their breakfast plates to get a better baseline.

Unfortunately, my most recent visits have completely changed how I feel about this place. On my first bad visit, I ordered my usual club sub. The employee making my sandwich (pictured) put noticeably less meat than normal. When I politely asked for it to be made properly, he gave me attitude, was rude, and made me feel completely unwelcome. I reported this to the General Manager, who assured me that I could come back anytime to have my sandwich remade and that the employee would personally apologize. When I came back, that same employee was working. He recognized me--he even read my name off the order slip--but didn't apologize until I asked him directly. His "apology" was sarcastic and dismissive, as if he couldn't care less. It made the manager's promise feel pointless and left me feeling disrespected all over again. To be fair, the other two employees on shift during my return visit were fantastic--professional, kind, and exactly the type of service you'd expect. But this one employee's behavior completely overshadowed that. I will not be returning to this location for a while. If this is the level of customer service management is willing to tolerate, then I'd rather spend my money somewhere that values its customers.

The first time I added hoisin, sriracha, and lime. The second time lime only. The next time I go, I don't think I'm going to add anything to the broth. It can absolutely stand alone and shine. There's enough sauce to moisten the bread, lightly coat the ingredients, and add another layer of flavor, but not too much that leaves the sandwich wet and dripping. The rice box is so cute! I'm also big on rice as mundane as that may seem, but the rice is soft, sticky, and fluffy. Absolutely how I'd cook it at home. The summer rolls are also built well and HOLD TOGETHER as you eat it. It was fresh, light, and if I didn't love him I would've downed the whole thing. I wish I remembered which drink it was because I want to recommend it publicly! If you don't like super sugary drinks but like the freshness of real fruit, this drink hits the spot. The service has always been timely. I've never had to wait an extended period of time, although I've usually gone at slow times of the day. However, everything comes out neatly put together, quick, and hot. I've also ordered through a third-party delivery service, and let me tell you. This business means business. They won't let their food fall apart before it gets to you. They make sure your meal is going to arrive to you in one piece! No ingredients or sauce spilling out of the bag, not once. And last but definitely not least, the owner is a gem. Just a real, genuine kind of guy. He is warm, friendly, and makes an effort to remember his customers. He makes small talk not in a fake, customer service-y kind of way, but like he really is just trying to chit chat and enjoys being a nice person and getting to know others.
