The household transport industry is one of the worst there is, but we still had a pretty poor experience with Long Distance USA Movers. Do not believe the estimated arrival date of your household items. They completely oversell their ability to transport your items quickly during the sales process and fail to deliver against the expectations they set. Throughout our sales process, our sales rep Joseph/Joe told us that our items would arrive in San Francisco (after packing up from Boston) in 7-10 days. We made plans to stay with family and at hotels during the interim with that timeline in mind. And after 7 days, we were told that our items had just left the state of Massachusetts. The truck meandered from MA to NY, then down to Virginia, and through Kentucky, Texas, and the southwest before arriving in San Francisco an entire 20 days after we had packed up our household. We pleaded throughout with the team to expedite our delivery process, but they refused to deliver our items for a full three days even after their truck arrived in SF. Granted, our things arrived without damage, but it was disturbing to work with a company who completely misled us during the sales process and then acted with no urgency or sensitivity even though they were in possession of everything we own. Super painful to work with this company and would recommend avoiding. read more

LDM is not an all inclusive moving company. They are a company that unabashedly lies about being such, and offering services that they could offer if they were such, because they know that's the product you want to buy. Making the sale is more important than having the thing to sell. I was taken in by it, paid a rate there is no way I would have otherwise paid, to companies I would never have knowingly dealt with, thinking I was buying peace of mind, and ended up wrecking my peace of mind during the move, as well as a few rather liked possessions. If you think you've finally found a lower risk moving company, you haven't. Maybe at least try to go with a more up front and honest one. On communication: My move sales person was actually fairly available, and quick to update my inventory sheet. But his odd hours and indeterminate accent bring into question how in house even he was, which I likely would have taken as a stronger warning sign without a variety of moving stressors on my back. However, I bought into his assurance "We don't use any brokers or third-party providers. Everything is owned and done by our company" to believe him when he said he could mark specific items as to be treated with special care by the movers. This meant I did not provide as adequate protection for some items as I would have had I known it was a flat out lie and that line of communication did not exist. He also kept not giving me a straight answer on how crating of some of my items would be performed, in retrospect being a question dodge, with me not finally being given a straight response from *another* move coordinator that crating would happen *after* my things were vanned to another facility, not in any way on the spot, or prepared for pre-pickup, again barring me an opportunity I might have otherwise used to further protect my belongings. I am now corresponding in relation to settlement on the service I received and damage to my items which has also not been blocked, but at current time is not resolved. On the move: Actually performed by (see proof picture): LDI Moving Inc Trico Long Distance Transportation My move window wasn't given a full confirmation until two days prior, which again kept raising my anxiety and really brought into question how a company that did everything in house couldn't confirm I was on the docket, and what exactly had I paid for. On the day of, my movers show up with matching t-shirts that do NOT say LDM, confirming that I have indeed been scammed into the sale, but still hoping things work out because my schedule is absolutely locked in at that point. I have purchased, not exactly cheap, full service pack as well since I have been told I cannot insure my items for full value unless I did so. And it also admittedly takes some stress off me before hand thinking my things will be professionally packed as well as save me the time of doing so. The crew that does the packing is not professional. I will become an unstable wreck through the next week as I first wait to take stock of the damage on arrival, then come to terms with it afterwards. When packing they throw things in boxes, often one on top of the other, without rhyme or reason, and often without any added protection. They're annoyed, and in one case straight up laugh at me, when I try to interject to protect my things. I have to try to communicate via signaling since most of the crew does not speak English. At one point I catch one of them getting a box down the stairs by somersaulting it. 'This side up's are ignored (which can't be the result of a language barrier) and several more boxes will show signs of flipping during the move later. They seem to have very little care for appropriate stacking of box weights. Due to what I witness I have to throw out all but the most basic of my prepaid 'unpacking' service on the other side since I know I need to unpack things myself for probably much needed proof for insurance claims. On the note of insurance, my bill of lading at the conclusion of packing requires I sign that I have waived full value replacement insurance (very much not the case). Some calls back and forward tell me that's just how third party insurance works and I have to sign as is to get things to move. No one ever explains why, if it is separate, do I have to sign a sheet waiving coverage that includes the full price I paid *including* that third party insurance. This also makes me exceedingly uncomfortable and stressed as well. I'll check on my insurance confirmation again after signing, and only at this point spot that even the insurance is noted as being purchased by yet another company and not LDM. As for timeliness, most of my items actually do arrive in a week, though a few thousand dollars worth of games are delayed an extra three weeks leaving me to think they're lost, but to my relief do actually show up with fairly minimal damage. I thought that if I would encounter any problems during the move, I could work things out easily with them because of the level of professionalism. Luke always answered my calls, questions, concerns. My experience with Long Distance Movers begins in August 2018. I called around and found that LDM was the most responsive as well as the most reasonably priced. I requested full pack service, storage for two months, and move from California to Texas. My quote did go up a few hundred dollars during the initial reviews, but admittedly I have a lot of odd shaped furniture that required extra attention. I asked that someone come out and do a personal tour to confirm pricing instead of just an over-the-phone quote. LDM was happy to oblige. On packing day, the movers showed up on time (4 guys) and they packed up my 2/2 condo in about 8 hours. It was a long day with big, heavy furniture but I heard no complaints. The service person at LDM was communicative during the whole process and I had no questions. As explained many times, when I was ready for my stuff I was given a two-week delivery window which was later narrowed down to four days. Once my stuff was on the road, I received periodic text messages tracking the truck as it moved across country. I received day-ahead notice of delivery once the truck hit Texas. The arrival time was delayed by 3 hours (the only complaint here) - but the driver communicated his delays and followed up. I was shocked to see that there was just one offloading person - the driver's partner was on vacation. But they arranged for local help and within 30 minutes, a second person arrived. My stuff was unloaded and the big items set up within about 4 hours. All in all - a good experience. Not a single thing was broken, which is about unheard of with long distance moving. If I ever move again (I hope not), LDM will be my first and only call. Great job, great service! read more

Long distance movers are a thoroughly professional outfit. I had the need for a very specific moving solution, involving a long distance move from NY to LA and storage for about 3 months till I was settled. I found the company online and sent them a request for a quote. Patrick from their client desk got in touch with me immediately, worked out my needs and gave me a very reasonable quote that covered everything I asked for. In comparison, other movers came in at a much more expensive rate and provided half the service. Patrick also followed up and checked on everything throughout the process. On the date of the move, the movers came in within 30 mts of the start of the window, they called me in advance. The movers were thorough and efficient. The good: initial customer service over the phone, arrived within the mentioned time window, pretty fast (took about 3-4 hrs), cheaper with cash. The bad: was told there would be three guys, only 2 came. Paid the lower rate (79/hr) so that was ok. It actually only took 2 guys to move the one bdrm, so I feel like they push the 3 person thing on you. And I kept having to remind them to get stuff, small things were still leftover in the apartment I had to get. And they demanded tip (listen, I get we have to tip but I find that annoying) So bottom line: decent rate, but you gotta be on then the whole time. read more

My family and I moved from Chicago to the Los Angeles area. We found Long Distance Movers on Yelp and decided to use them based on the reviews, and we are glad we did. The movers came in and wrapped all our furniture with the heavy moving blankets. All the boxes and furniture were labeled with numbers and descriptions. It was pretty impressive. They gave us a 14-business day window from when we can first take the delivery, which seems long, but we just planned accordingly. I received texts keeping us posted. We decided to stay in Chicago for about a week after they picked up our items, and our car actually got to LA before us. Our furniture and boxes arrived the day after we flew in. Keep in mind it all depends on how many other stops the truck needed to make along the way, so maybe we got lucky. My advice would be to provide as accurate a list of your items as possible, and try to make minimal changes to that, since it will affect your quote. But you'll always find other items that you forgot to list. I gave a guess-timate on the number of boxes we would have, but you won't really know how much until after your pack. I told them 25 medium boxes, but we ended up using some large boxes and went over the count. Be as realistic as possible and don't go over too much from what you originally said. If so, let them know so you don't get a surprise on moving day. As mentioned in other reviews, it's a bit pricier but got what we paid for. Moving is never easy and maybe we were expecting the worst-case scenario, but we were pleasantly surprised. I can only speak on our experience, but we were very satisfied with the communication and service. We would definitely use them again. read more

My overall experience with Long Distance Movers was good. My overall moving experience, mixed, but this is not their fault. Let me explain. My wife and I needed to move from the Philly area to the Myrtle Beach area. My other plans fell through, and I was desperate to get someone to move our stuff before my rental lease was up in a couple of weeks. LD Movers were able to come out on a Sunday to pick up my things and move them. Great! But I seriously underestimated the cost of it all, and this is due to my own poor calculations and never having to use a moving company before, let alone a long distance move. We ended up packing a lot of needless, unimportant items that I am sure would have cost us a lot less if we simply dumped them and bought again at our new place, rather than pack and ship and add to the weight and cost. So my advice: BE VERY SURE about what you need to bring, what you can do without, and what you can easily leave behind and buy again at your new place, or you will end up paying thousands more than you needed to. Good rule of thumb, if you can buy it at Walmart, DO NOT PACK IT! LD Movers will even warn you not to give them items of high monetary, practical , or sentimental value. Such as important documents, jewelry, money, irreplaceable pictures, etc...take them yourselves. But LD movers were great, the movers were very nice and worked with what I gave them and helped me lessen the cost to the best of their abilities (such as wrapping 2 small boxes up and counting it as 1 item, another pro tip to you all, especially with small boxes. Sigh, I made a lot of rookie errors). They made sure every piece of furniture was wrapped, all glass and mirror surfaces were padded, and all boxes were taped up properly. The items arrived on time and as scheduled. We had a glass shelf that was not taped properly and broke. The movers took note, and LD Movers compensated us with no issues. It wasn't a big deal for us since we were able to get the shelf replaced fairly easily. Another issue we had was a minor mixup with package inventory that made us wonder if we were missing a box. So far we haven't noticed anything and LD was more than willing to double check for us, worked with us and kept in contact with us. My wife and I are very satisfied with their service and would recommend them. They may use 3rd party contractors, but you cannot expect otherwise when dealing with a cross country move such as this. For us, they were based out of northern Virginia. So they were well positioned between Philly and Myrtle Beach. We experienced no issues with them. read more

Found Long Distance Movers on Yelp. Spoke to Mark who promptly scheduled an estimator to come to our apartment for a guaranteed quote. I also wanted to get quotes from other companies for comparison so I contacted the bigger moving companies. Out of all four quotes, Long Distance Movers gave the best rate. Mark was very professional and easy to talk to. I also booked our vehicle transport through them. On the day of the move, three employees came and all were very nice and friendly. Their work was so efficient and organized in packing up our furniture. My husband is an art dealer and is very particular with how his art works should be packed and he watched them pack everything and was thoroughly impressed. He's shipped art works before through an art shipping company and he said Long Distance Movers did an even better job. The quote we were provided even included crates for our two large canvases that are not protected by frame. The car was also picked up by their partner, who was also very nice and accommodating. As his truck couldn't fit the always busy downtown LA streets, he even walked/took public transport to our place as it was near his garage and drove our car back to his lot. The items did not stay in the warehouse long as I got a call the next day that they were on their way from LA to Charleston, SC. They arrived in perfect condition within two weeks of pick-up. My family member received the items and she noted how organized and efficient the Long Distance Movers employees were (she used another company for their interstate move and was able to compare). The car also arrived within 10 days in perfect condition. Overall, my family and I are very happy with the service from Mark and his team. Extra points for having a Quality Assurance manager contact me days after the move to ensure the items and car arrived to our satisfaction and they did. UPDATE: Today we had another crew come to re-pack our storage space and retrieve all remaining wet objects from our stuff. I believe this crew came from Anaheim Movers whom I've reviewed favorably elsewhere. We were able to save most of our possessions thanks to our own careful packing and the moving crew assisted by repacking any items whose boxes had gotten wet. In all we lost about 3 boxes of books to water damage and repacked another 30 wet boxes. Today's crew did a good job, followed instructions, and set things right. They would not have been needed if yesterday's crew had been competent. I would continue to trust Anaheim Movers for my local move needs but would not recommend Long Distance Movers to coordinate your out-of-town move as they seem to be working with some highly unreliable subcontractors. ORIGINAL REVIEW: -- If I could give no stars, I would. Our rare books and CDs were left out in the rain during a 2-day delay they requested to deliver our belongings. Rather than receive the well-packed truck that left our house, we received a different truck into which our valuables had been literally THROWN. We moved the contents of a prop house( 400 plus boxes and 20 blanket wrapped surfaces and 20 shelving units) from NYC to Chicago. Our experience with Long Distance Movers was only positive. Before we hired Long Distance Movers we used a different moving company. They were fine but after the initial pick up I felt that this first company was not so organized (also, after they delivered in Chicago a separate "drop-off" fee that was not explained upon pickup was required.) Long Distance Movers came on time to pick up twice in NYC. Our final delivery was last week here in Chicago after 17 months in storage (I know, we thought it would be 6 months storage, kinda ridiculous). But after 1 1/2 half years in storage everything arrived and surprisingly no damage (except for a few items we did not protect properly). They guys who dropped off our final shipment of shelving called 40 minutes before they arrived, were polite and efficient and quick. One recommendation to anyone storing things long-term. Take the blankets off outside if possible. We unwrapped things inside and they blankets were covered in 17 months of dust. No a smart thing to do and lesson learned. read more

I recently move all my furniture from Seattle to Los Angeles. Long Distance Movers handled my entire move without me lifting a single finger. Prior to my move, I've called more than 4 different moving companies to compare services and rates. By far, Long Distance Movers came up on top for customer service and rate. They showed up in person to do the estimation, took pictures of all the furniture that needs to be move, itemized everything to be listed on the quote and explained in details of how the items will be protected and moved. On the day of the move, I watched how every piece of my furniture was wrap again and again with protection layers before they got loaded onto their truck, it really felt great to know that they care your personal items. From the beginning to the end, the customer service group was very helpful. I received an email right after the pick up to ask about how everything went, and also the dispatch team sent email to alert you the truck is on its way to the destination. My house was not ready for the furniture to be moved in for a few days after the furniture has arrived in LA, so I called the dispatch team to let them know that. They had no problem pushing back the delivery date for a few days so I can get the house ready. I am so glad that I went with Long Distance Movers, this was my first move that required professional help, and I am so glad that I hired them. I would definitely use them again. read more

As time progressed we increasingly became more confident that we made the right decision for choosing to work with these movers. We had a very strict date to meet our move and to get everything out of our old place and into storage. We called and received an estimation right the next day and assured us that it would be no problem to accommodate to our deadline. A supervisor arrived the following morning and said that they have several trucks and workers on call, ready to work if necessary! We noticed two gentlemen outside with him and apparently there were many more prepared to arrive if they felt the extra manpower was necessary. He scanned the entire house from the boxes to the couches and even took an extra look at the glass china that my parents love to collect. He offered us a cheap insurance plan and assured me that with or without it they will be nothing but cautious with all of our things. We purchased it just because you are never too sure and when you have glass objects or fragile belongings that might crack or shatter you just want to be safe. Luckily none of those things happened and we were able to complete the entire first floor of the move the first day. The second floor and the basement took another day and a half but we managed to finish two days prior to our move in date and all of our stuff was scheduled to arrive before we even landed! So happy with how things turned out, try these guys they are great. read more

The experience with Long Distance Movers has been beyond abysmal, and I would highly recommend you looking elsewhere for a moving company to assist you with a large, cross state move. They gave me incorrect information all along the way, from misquoting my total by almost $1,000 dollars, telling me three different (and incorrect)delivery windows, and being insanely rude throughout the process. Upper management is also of no assistance. Upon finally receiving my belongings many weeks later, many of my pieces were damaged beyond repair that could have been avoided with simple knowledge, such as removing a knob on a nightstand so to not shatter the panels in transit. The only thing we had left to worry about was pricing. We obtained a lot of information from their representatives, who were very nice and polite towards us. After learning that they are very affordable, we decided that they were the perfect moving company for our needs. We scheduled our relocation and car transportation to be in two weeks from then. Since I decided that I needed my car transported as well, they gave me thorough instructions on how to prepare and set up my car for transportation before the relocation day comes. When the relocation date came, long distance movers arrived at the scheduled time without being late! They immediately started packing and wrapping up all of our belonging. Sooner than later, we were off to our new address, in a completely different state. Once we arrived, they started unloading their moving trucks and then carefully unpacking and unwrapping each item. Long distance movers was extremely helpful in my move from la to Princeton New Jersey. I actually shipped my car over the Christmas holidays but the driver got it there in a very reasonable time. I know they're not the cheapest option out there but I really didn't want to take a chance on having any kind of issue knowing that I would be moving to a completely foreign place for me. But I'm really glad I had them help me since they also allowed me to keep some things in the trunk. The driver communicated very well for pick up and delivery and he also waited for me for a day to adjust to my flight schedule. If I had to ship my car again I'd definitely use it. As a first timer for shipping a car cross country, my experience with Long Distance movers was seamless from beginning to end. Bruce, my customer service rep, was always available any time of day/ day of week to answer my questions. The driver was experienced and assured me my car would be in good hands. Since I was driving separately, I was waiting on my car to arrive. My father was able to see my car loaded onto the truck at pickup, and my car arrived several days after I did. This was the most wonderful moving experience I could have ever hoped for!!! We moved from California to Northern VA and everything went so smoothly! Everyone at Long Distance Movers was super friendly and helpful. They kept in close contact throughout the entire move. All of our items were labeled with our name and barcode specific to our move. I recently moved from Los Angeles to Washington, DC. I did tons of research and spend plenty of time reading reviews. I chose Long Distance Movers because of their reviews, and I am so happy I did. 1.- The movers picking and dropping off my belongings were extremely professional and punctual. They arrive right at the start of the window for both pickup and drop off. On the pickup, they even repacked stuff to make sure it was secure. 2. I loved receiving notifications of where my stuff was at. It helped me estimate and coordinate time off at work better. 3. All my stuff arrived with NO damage. Even though it was snowing when the movers dropped my stuff, there was no water damage on any of the boxes. It was a bit pricier than other movers, but not by much and it was worth it. read more

You always hear the horrors of moving. I was scheduled to move from Washington DC to LA in a very specific date range. After diligent research Long Distance not only gave me the best bang for my buck, but customer service was amazing to work with. Although a lot more pricer than others places (I paid a little over $3K to move a standard 1-bedroom apartment across country), the quality of service and ease of moving you get makes the price worth it. The best part of their business model is quoting you at the beginning rather than at the end. Prices do not change even after they move you in. If you are one of those that are scared of losing your belongs (ME!) or things breaking, you don't have to worry about that with these folks. Not only do they print labels with barcodes attached to your information (name, phone #, and address) they paste it on EVERYTHING! Even the tools. Just to ensure your package makes it to the final destination unharmed. They also do a fanatic job of packing your furniture to ensure no bruises or scratches. After everything, they give you a follow up call to ensure everything went smooth, and on top of that they even offered me a Starbucks gift card!
