We were lucky to get a recommendation from our neighbor and friend for Mr. Dana Smith at Airtek Mechanical, BTW also a neighbor. We first chatted with Dana during one of our walks and he helped us understand the pros and cons of several systems, aside from the two large central HVAC units we currently had, including a central "ductless" system using the existing ducts, etc. Soon after Dana came over the house and took the time to go over all the details about what the job would entail. He needed 220/240V power outlets installed around the house with a disconnect and a 6" whip. Right away, we ran into the problem of Mini-splits components supply due to the COVID-19 world pandemic. We were willing to work with Dana and schedule installs as the equipment became available. We decided to only install each ductless unit when all the necessary parts were available. Gradually, over several months, Dana would call us to schedule installations as the different components were received from the supplier. Dana and his installer, Zach, would always come on time, do the job exactly as described in the quote and clean up afterwards. Dana was always gracious and accommodating when necessary. One of Dana's big assets is his vast and thorough knowledge and experience in the field of HVAC (Over the years, we had done our homework and read about and used mini-splits overseas). Dana and Zach worked through the heat and humidity of central Texas without complaint and with smiles. We highly recommend Dana at Airtek Electric. They did a meticulous, thorough, and professional job for a reasonable price. Thank you Dana and Zach.

When our AC broke out of nowhere, when it was only 5 years old and still under warranty, our first call was to, of course, the warranty repairmen. Which after being extremely late (which the temp was rising so fast and having poor animals in the house, we were already irritated. They then proceeded to assume we had a leak in the attic coils without ever doing a leak test. With us knowing nothing about correct procedures or tests or questions to ask, we trusted the person who's TRAINED to repair it. But what they actually did was put a bandaid remedy on the problem by adding coolant and rushed right out of there. Little did we know they were not only completely wrong in their "diagnosis" but also left us back at square one again after the coolant ran out within a day! That's when we made the call to Ismael. With over 15 years in the business, he was speechless after hearing they didnt even do a leak test! Ismael took the time and effort to carefully pinpoint the problem (which ended up being in the condenser outside and nowhere NEAR the attic! Ugh!) What's more, is that the part we needed that was under warranty... Was backordered and wouldn't be available for 6 months! So we were left with purchasing the part ourselves, but Ismael worked with us on the price as it was extremely expensive... And he made sure we were taken care of fairly and correctly!!!! I have nothing but positive things to say about Creative Comfort Solutions and the owner behind it!! Thanks Ismael!!!

In June 2025, we hired this company to diagnose an issue with our HVAC system. After their…read moreevaluation, we were told we needed a new condenser, which cost us $5,200. Two days after the installation, the system stopped working again. When they returned, we were told there was now a hole in the coil and that it would be another $5,000 to repair or $16,000 for a completely new system. At that point, we decided to get additional opinions. Multiple HVAC companies quoted us significantly lower pricing. We learned that the condenser we paid $5,200 for typically costs around $3,000 installed. We ultimately had a brand-new system (the same model we already had) installed by another company for $7,000, less than half of what we were quoted. When we raised our concerns, the only explanation given was that they "don't get as good of pricing as other companies." Our experience left us feeling like they don't even try to properly diagnose, they just throw in expensive parts and hope for the best. We are also feeling duped because we obviously paid well above market rate for the work performed. We strongly recommend using ANYONE else.

I had called another highly ranked Yelp Trane business and their salesman tried to snow me with a…read moreridiculously expensive quote (initially over $20,000) for a new Trane Heat Pump System for my 1,400 sq ft house, and who didn't listen regarding my issues with NOT getting cool AC into my bedroom and didn't tell me why my 8 yr old Trane failed. Luckily, I had requested an appointment with another Trane HVAC business, and that was Summit AC and Heating out of Buda, TX, who were highly reviewed on Google and Yelp. Rich with Summit AC and Heating listened to my two issues -- namely the lack of cool air going into my bedrooms, and Austin Energy having a power outage -- causing a power surge to destroy my coils in my heat pump and assured me that my new Trane heat pump wouldn't suffer another power surge ever again. He came up with a heat pump package, partial duct work replacement, the replacement of three moldy plenums in that attic, and adding two new surge protectors that met my needs and price point. And of course I am not happy that all new HVAC systems now cost more than double than what I paid in 2018, but this isn't just a Trane issue but with ALL HVAC BRANDS that has happened since the pandemic. (FYI, I got six quotes from Trane, Carrier, Bryant and Lennox heatpump dealers in the Austin area before settling on a Trane heatpump system and Summit AC and Heating). As for the install, Summit blew my socks off with their thoroughness and professionalism. The previous installer in 2018 left a mess in my garage crawl space and ignored a collapsed ductwork. The two Summit heat pump installers replaced two of my undersized ducts, replaced three new plenums boxes, added two new surge protectors (one to the air handler in the attic and to compressor outside), vacuumed up all the debris, garbage and nails left by other people who had worked in the crawl space over the years. The two new larger ducts they installed now give me cool airflow into all my bedrooms and the two surge protectors will ensure that an Austin Energy power outage, power surge or lightning strike will never blow out my heat pump coils ever again. I also bought a 10 year labor warranty to cover any high value repairs, which doomed my previous 8 yr old Trane, which was supposed to last 12 to 15 years. All in all, I highly recommend Summit AC and Heating, who were a pleasure to work with, especially now that my house is cool EVERYWHERE.
