Their technician arrived and proceeded with the diagnosis. Crucially, the technician attempted to install a new control board without discussing this expensive, high-risk diagnostic step with me. They immediately fried the brand new control board during the process, indicating severe incompetence and poor diagnostic practice. They then had the audacity to charge me about $1,000 for the part they broke. We hired a competent company afterward who confirmed Cool Horizons had done a terrible job and successfully repaired the system. When I called the owner to request a partial refund--suggesting I only pay the initial service fee, since they broke the system further--the owner yelled at me, used foul language, and aggressively hung up the phone. This company charges customers for their own mistakes and is run by an owner who is verbally abusive when challenged. Save yourself the money, the stress, and the exposure to abusive management. This business should not be operating.

Ok. So, let me start by saying, a 5 star review is reserved for those companies who could not have…read moredone anything better. That was not exactly the case here, but they came so close that if felt more appropriate to give a 5 star than a 4 star review. I was referred to RAM by a friend. I called Edgar to get an estimate to replace my heat pump/air handler and he was able to come out that day to give me an estimate, but I was not available so he came out the next day. He had a written estimate to me that evening. A cold front moved in, so I wasn't in a big hurry. I contacted him about a week later to do the work and he was out within 48 hours. He and his crew were friendly, professional and efficient. His prices are very competitive. Now to the less than 5 stars part - when they installed the new thermostat, they left filthy black smudges all over the wall around it. I would suggest either A) washing your hands prior to installing the thermostat or B) carrying a wall sponge to clean up after. Overall, a minor issue and was mitigated by the fact that A) At my request, they brought me a bag of ice so I wouldn't have to go out during COVID and B) They took away my hot tub pump for me. :) I have 2 more units that are as old as the one I replaced that will need replacing soon (hopefully, not TOO soon) and I will definitely consider RAM again. Oh and he was actually a bit EARLY for both the estimate and the install itself! I actually had to call HIM to tell him I was running a few minutes late!
