The service and food were great but there were two drawbacks to our dining experience at the Loan Oak Grill. 1) The dining room music is TOO LOUD!! It is very difficult to carry on a conversation with the folks at your table 2) Plastic glassware for water and soda. How come people who drink alcoholic beverages get nice glassware but if you choose to drink water or soda it is served in a giant red plastic cup??? It's a huge drawback for people who choose to abstain from alcohol when our beverages are served in huge plastic cups like we're kids. read more

I was there on the first day it opened. It looked nicely renovated from the previous Joe Senser's. We sat on the patio which was a pleasant atmosphere. It was during their reasonably priced happy hour. I ordered the appetizer sliders (one beef brisket, one pork, one chicken). There wasn't a whole lot of meat and the beef brisket was fattier than most cuts that I prefer. It was reasonable since the appetizers were half off during happy hour, but I definitely would not pay full price for what I got. I'm willing to go back to try some of their other menu items, but overall, nothing really good or bad stood out to me about this place. read more

Good beer selection. Decent food. Great happy hour. Service lacked attention to detail. Maybe they should have their servers read the Yelp reviews. Service seems to be a common complaint. On one visit, I asked for a glass of water 3 times before I actually got it. Another visit, we ordered chicken wings and had to ask for appetizer plates, napkins, and wet naps. One of the app plates came out dirty. I also had to ask for a clean fork because my original fork was dirty. A server should know that a person who orders wings will need more than one napkin. We also ordered the artichoke dip. We had to send back the pita chips because they were way over-seasoned with garlic salt. They switched them out with unseasoned ones without a problem. We've also tried the flatbread. FYI- the "flatbread" is a pizza. That is not explained on the menu. They are so thin and the toppings were skimpy. I wouldn't order them again. Nice decor. Decent atmosphere. It looks like it'd be a nice place to be in the summers because they can open the garage doors up. This restaurant at least worth a try. read more

Birthday lunch! A beautiful day with the patio open. For some reason we chose to sit inside because we had a bigger group and the patio was pretty busy (too much stimulation for the little guy). I was disappointed to see the menu changed an my favorite choice was no longer there. So I went with...hum I can't even remember, obviously wasn't much to write home about. I have been here at least a half dozen times. They have a fantastic happy hour and I love the way the bar opens up to the huge patio outside. As a rule, I always try to sit at the bar in any craft beer focused place to chat with the bar staff. I have never had a great experience from a service standpoint. Paul--one of the managers--is a real "beer guy" and is always super friendly. I was there a week ago and the beer list was absolutely wonderful. Easily their best yet and could rival many places in the metro. Food has honestly been hit or miss. I think that they have struggled in the kitchen to get everything where it can be and they have changed how the items have been prepared so many times that it is hard to not compare to the previous each time. Truthfully. I go for the beer and the bar service chatter. That alone they get 4 stars on! Update 2014. Happy Hour now has been drastically scaled back. read more

Ordered a Philly Cheesesteak which was missing the cheese sauce and the meet was so overcooked and dry that I managed to only eat 1/4 of the sandwich before saying forget it. It was shocking that it had zero flavor whatsoever considering that the ingredients in a Philly Cheesesteak are super flavorful so not sure how they managed to cook this sandwich and eliminate all flavor. We ordered boneless wings but when we opened those at home they were regular chicken wings not boneless. Also ordered Chicken strips and fried and the strips were super overcooked and dry. I think having someone double check the orders before they are packed up to make sure that everything looks good and has all of its parts would be helpful and actually not overcooking everything would be a nice touch. Great experience! All four of us at the table absolutely loved the food. The 13-yr old had the 'best salmon ever' and enjoyed the wild rice soup. The 11-yr old loved the mac n cheese. My family loves their cheese curds and spicy steak tips. Their custom Mac & Cheese is amazing. We eat there at least once every few weeks and have never found anything on the menu we dont like.
