First, let me say that I give them 3.5/5 stars, but wasn't able to do it with Yelp. Overall it wasn't bad here. The staff was nice enough and the portion sizes were ample. I got the Cuban sandwich for the menu price of $9.29, and overall it tasted good, but it wasn't the best I ever had. Also, for the price of $9.29 I just got the sandwich, but they gave the option of adding chips and a drink for $2.99. The Cuban sandwich itself had a strong mustard taste and the pulled pork was somewhat clumpy, which meant I needed to break it apart so that I didn't choke. I've eaten cuban sandwiches before, so I had somewhat of an idea what to expect. In summation, the sandwich had everything it needed, but the mustard was prevalent and the pulled pork wasn't quite "pulled" enough (lame joke, but true). Also, as per their sign, they are open later than 3p, so don't believe Yelp that they close at 3p ;-). read more

I ordered a burger, I think it was like 12$. I got my burger with no side, was never asked if I wanted a side. you pay extra for sides, my side was another 5$. The burger was a total mess, woulda had a better burger at whataburger For 4$. The side I got was incredibly too salty. And the burger was also too salty somehow. Mixed feelings. The sandwiches are quite good. I love the Cuban sandwich. The blue plate not so much. My wife had the Athena, (hot) grilled chicken served over (cold) orzo pasta. The watermelon and strawberry salad was dried out and obviously not fresh cut so was left uneaten. Used to be independently owned by a very talented young man but he sold it to a corporate business owner who turned it into a run of the mill, cookie cutter type fast casual eatery. Recently moved to Tyler from Wisconsin, so I consider myself to be a harsh critic when it comes to Reuben sandwiches. This Reuben was fantastic! Great beef flavor, adequate sauerkraut and dressing. What was really interesting was there was a little bit of heat (spiciness) to it. I found that to be a great surprise and it worked so well with the other flavors. Lookin forward to coming back. The best sandwich in tyler (non bbq). I have gone in expecting to order something besides the cuban sandwich, but it almost never happens. The cuban sandwich is wonderful. The chicago beef and roast beef are also delicious. Plus the homemade potato chips are perfect and not soggy like at other places. They even have menu items for the little ones. Have heard so many good things about Lola's but regardless of what I've heard, nothing prepared me for the quality of food and level of customer service. We wanted to go a bit lighter and share a sandwich. Girl at the counter had some great suggestions and we ultimately went with the Cuban since I had read about it in a local magazine. Here is the trick, my wife hates mustard and I am not a fan of pickles so we asked for these items on the side. One of the owners came to us after a few minutes and told us they used their last hoagie roll on our sandwich but had accidentally put mustard and pickles on the sandwich as designed. He gave us some options but ultimately we told him to just toss some chips on it and we would work through it. They did that AND gave us our money back. Not my intention but WOW, so impressed with how Lola's strives to make it right for the customer. I picked off my pickles and we removed what mustard we could and my wife ate what she could. The sandwich was amazing for me since pickles come off pretty easy! Did I mention they roast this own meats and make their own bread and chips here! All the difference in the world! Anyone who has lived in Jersey or Philly, there are really only a couple of bakeries that everyone uses because the bread is that important! This place gets it and has nailed their flavor profiles! Specials like the pulled pork Maui Wowie with cabbage slaw and mac nuts can't be beat anywhere. We had the Bron-Yr-Aur and Mob Boss. Both were delicious. The bread on the Mob Boss was a little too heavy for me, but loved the combination of ingredients. The Bron-Yr-Aur was a large, hearty sandwich - moist pork on an onion bun and great combo of ingredients. The chips were some of the best we've ever had!
