Went here with my sister after several friends recommended the place. What can I say that won't sound horribly negative? Not much. Our waiter was horrendous. He sat us, barely uttering a guttural word, brought our drink order and left again for another 10 minutes. I was literally getting out of my seat to get another server when he showed up around the corner. Using the same energy, he took our food order. No recommendations, and no conversation. He brought our food and never returned. Never came back to ask us how everything was, to refill drinks, NOTHING. It was literally like he left the building. Another waiter felt sorry for us and brought us several items, to go boxes and our bill. We tipped HIM and thanked him for actually seeing us. The food: Ka-po noodles were fabulous. The pork dumplings were so bad, it was ridiculous. "Scallion and pork pan fried dumplings". No scallions, no spices and the sausage was a greasy ball of breakfast sausage. We could not eat them. We were looking for some Asian food while visiting Tyler and Noodles & Dumplings was the top yelp recommendation. We were a party of 8 adults and ordered all of our food family style. Food: We ordered a mix of everything on the menu. For appetizers we got the edamame and fried cream cheese wontons. The edamame came in a large portion and the fried cream cheese wontons had 6 pieces per order. The edamame came dressed in a garlic/soy sauce which is a little different than the traditional salted edamame. It was different but good. The cream cheese wontons were fairly standard. We ordered the non spicy and spicy wonton sops to share and these were not individual soups. They were large bowls with 5 wontons per soup serving. Flavor was ok but it gets the job done if you're craving wonton soup. We ordered the orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and combo fried rice as main dishes. The orange chicken was ok and came with a side of white rice on the plate. The Mongolian beef was an American version of Mongolian beef with beef mixed with red and green bell peppers and red onion. It was actually a good dish but I wouldn't call it Mongolian beef. The combo fried rice was decent but nothing special. We also ordered the vegetable and chicken steamed dumplings along with chicken and pork pan fried dumplings. The steamed dumplings were a little salty but the pan fried dumplings were very tasty and fried very well. Each serving of dumplings came with 8 pieces. We also ordered 2 orders of the pork Xiao Long Baos which came with 6 pieces per order. The Xiao Long Baos were juicy but the wrapper was a little thick for Xiao Long Baos. We also ordered the red bean baos and a chocolate donut dish (can't remember the name) for dessert. The red bean baos were a nice finish to the meal and were steamed with some animal faces on them so made it fun to eat. The chocolate fried donuts were also very good for anyone with a sweet tooth. Service: The service was good and our drinks were filled the whole meal. We waited 15 mins for a table for 8 on a Saturday night at 7 PM which was reasonable for a weekend night. They brought the food out as it was made so keep that in mind when you order for the table. The dumplings take a little longer to make than the main dishes like the orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Ambiance: Noodles & Dumplings has a nice glass area where you can see the chefs making and steaming/frying the dumplings. The restaurant is well lit and the tables had ample space for our party of 8. Overall I would recommend this place for Asian food in Tyler! The portions here are very generous and the food is decent for those specifically craving dumplings. I would skip the main meat/vegetable entrees like orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Come here for the dumplings and baos. You won't be disappointed! read more

I wanted to try the black garlic ramen but they were out! So I decided to try the Mongolian beef. My dish came out rather fast like within five minutes of my order, which was very strange. They did not wait to bring out my food with my husband's. Also, I've never seen Mongolian beef cooked with green and red bell peppers. Also red onions. I've always had Mongolian beef with scallions also known as green onions and regular white or yellow onions, which is my fave. I did not like my dish at all. I didn't like it. It was not tasteful. There was no spice basically it was the worst Mongolian beef that I've ever had in my life. The dumplings were decent, but not the best. There's no way this restaurant would make it in a major city. This was our first meal in Tyler. Absolutely delicious food we ordered xiaolongbao and various other dishes to share amongst our party of 4. We really enjoyed the quick service clean restaurant and good food, for a good price. Great portions too! We came by a few days later to order takeout just one beef fried rice. Realized we came early and the restaurant was not yet open. The man at the front desk was really rude when we were ordering speaking so quietly and getting mad when we said sorry can you repeat that. Then the fried rice itself took 15 min to come out. This kind of bothered us hence the 4 star rating. Please do not hire such rude people to be the face of your restaurant. read more

Sister and I stopped in for lunch on a weekday. It was not busy. We sat at a booth and waited for a server. Unfortunately we were in Dimitris' section. I believe that was his name. If you have an issue talking to people why would you be a server? Absolutely zero interaction on his part, he took our order without a word, dropped the food without a word and we never saw him again. We got a different server to bring us to go boxes and check. Now for the food, sadly it doesn't get much better. We ordered a noodle entree, pork scallion dumplings and chicken egg rolls. The noodles were good. The dumplings had zero scallions, and the worst part, they weren't made with ground pork, they were pork sausage! I was shocked when I took a bite and I tasted sage! Dumpling dough was undercooked and greasy from the pork sausage. Zero ginger, scallion or any other Asian dumpling flavor. Chicken egg rolls were good and hot but the filling had a weird flavor. Newly opened in the old Asian buffet building and the appearance has been kind-of updated. It still looks tired and run down when entering, though you do have a window-view of the prep area, which is interesting. We almost left since the staff was occupied helping make change for service staff and filling to-go orders, but we were finally acknowledged and seated. I did note that the same person handling money also handled our small plates, menus and paper-wrapped utensils without sanitizing. Maybe an opportunity for improvement. The food was okay. We had shrimp tempura and they seemed to have been cooked in oil that was a little old. They were served hot and perfectly crisp but not terribly flavorful. The fried noodles with chicken was very sweet but okay. The beef and green onion bao had a small meat ball in the middle of a beautiful steamed bun. The only sauces they offer are a weak "chili" oil and soy sauce. They do not have the green, less sodium, soy. Our waiter said they are working on that. He was very pleasant and helpful. Maybe we will try this another time. However we will make completely different food choices. read more

As someone that now lives in a small town in NETX, I'm always on the lookout for food that reminds me of my mom's cooking. Although I wouldn't say this place is fully traditional, it's authentic and delicious. The flavor profile of the Xiao Long Bao is very bold. It's savory and unlike what I grew up with though is extremely tasty. The dough from the steamed bao is so fresh and fluffy-- I don't even typically like steamed bao (I'm more of a baked bao kinda guy) but hot damn I could eat those up!
