I have eaten a LOT of Vietnamese food and this is hands-down one of the BEST. I was visiting Tyler and we wanted something lighter than fast food so my daughter says she would like phô, so I did search and this was close. Despite having a lower rating than the other results, we tried this one and it blew us away. The egg rolls were light and crispy and hot - I wanted 10 more. My grilled pork vermicelli bowl was exquisite with a perfect grill on the pork and nice balance of vermicelli, salad, and pickled carrots/cucumber. My wife had the egg roll vermicelli and she was not disappointed. My daughter ordered the no meat phô but the waitress misunderstood me and brought the all meat one instead, but I was not complaining because I ate what my daughter couldn't finish (which I knew would happen ) and I was one happy papa! The restaurant was clean and the service was on point. I knew when I walked in that it was going to be great because Vietnamese were dining in - always a great indicator. The Bun Thit Nuong, grilled pork over vermicelli rice noodles, flavorless, pork was left over smoked strips, reheated over a flat iron..yuk, with a lot horrible smoke on it, and the pork and shrimp fried rice using old frozen mushy rice mixed with frozen vegetables and whatever was in there....????? So, basic stuff right? I won't try the Pho, at the prices these people want, you might as well burn your money for heat. Hope they give some thought to quality. Very good Vietnamese food! I heard about this place years ago and tried it then and loved it! Then I recently visited again and it is still just as good. We had the egg rolls and wontons to start. I had the flank steak pho and my boyfriend and friend had the chicken, shrimp and beef pho. All of it was great and I will be back for more. I haven't had Pho since I lived in Chicago, as it was routinely used as a hangover remedy. I've been meaning to check Vietnamese Pho for, well a few years now, but I was simply a skeptic, as Pho (pronounced "fuh" ) isn't a common cuisine around here. Last night, I said, "Fuck it," I'm coming in to get some Pho! Being the only soul in the joint, I was still a skeptic, until the mail order bride, came over with her swagger, and politely asked me to sit down. Yep, I meant to dine in. I guess. Nevertheless, I went with the Lemongrass beef, chicken, and shrimp combo, with medium spice. Word to the wise- don't take a Vietnamese lightly when they say that their food has a kick to it. Medium was the right call, as it was a perfect amount of heat. The food had an amazing flavor, and was a fairly generous portion. I didn't see alcohol options, so I opted to slurp down a can of sprite, with my spicy goodness. When in the ever so colorful area of 64 W, I will definitely stop back in for some more Pho. I suppose this is a downside of leaving Houston; We are no longer surrounded by tasty Pho restaurants. The middle-aged manager was somewhat aloof and didn't seem too passionate about serving us. The food we got was bland and the pork was rubbery. Someone in our group got a noodle dish, which looked like it was a pack of ramen noodles dumped in a bowl with some dried-out chicken (which I think it literally may have been). The saving grace was that my drink was $1.25 and my meal cost $7.00, but I suppose in some ways we got what we paid for. I advise people not to order the noodle dish, since it seems like a rip off. My rubbery pork and rice dish were easily forgettable and I guess not much else to say besides the food was crap and the service was half-hearted. Your kinda place? Then stop on in! We stopped in on our way to Quitman to visit family. We wanted something a bit more healthy. Vietnamese is our usual go-to for that need. Since this is the only Vietnamese place that showed up in Yelp in Tyler, we figured we would try it, especially seeing the 4 star rating. The gentleman behind the counter couldn't be bothered to get up and take our order. My husband had to walk up to the counter and tell him that we were ready to order before he came to our table. We tried to order the chicken spring rolls, but were told they were out. We ordered the beef spring rolls instead, at the suggestion of the server. Then we both ordered the lemongrass vermicelli...with chicken...and weren't told that they were out. This tells me that they make the spring rolls ahead of time and couldn't be bothered to make extra chicken ones fresh for an order. Afterall, they apparently had enough chicken for our main dishes. Either that or they were trying to pawn off their beef supply before it went bad. The beef spring rolls came out and were tiny. No big deal, we both thought. We didn't have high expectations for a Vietnamese restaurant in Tyler anyways. Once our entrees made it to the table, we were extremely dissapointed. For $10 each, we had a bowl of vermicelli that was half full, at best. The noodles were mush, meaning they had been left in the water for too long. They were also warm. I couldn't tell if they had actually put them in warm water to soften them up quicker or if they were warm from the hot lemongrass chicken that had been placed on top. The flavor of the dish was fine. So, I guess there's that. Needless to say, if this is what the people of Tyler think of when they think of Vietnamese food, it's no wonder they only support one restaurant, for now. read more

Atmosphere- not bad, but not date-night material; standard strip mall type location. Appetizer- Shrimp spring rolls: a bit too much mint, but otherwise tasty. Meal- Pho, Spicy beef w/noodles, Shrimp w/lemongrass: all were good, but nothing amazing. Service- the server was kind, but not really attentive. As in most authentic Vietnamese restaurants everything in the place is sticky and the service sucks, but the food is pretty good. However, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only Vietnamese place in town, so they've got that going for them. Like a dang fool I didn't notice the pics (with numbers) of the dishes on the wall. I know this sounds uber-lazy American, but chef Gordon Ramsay says to never trust a place that has photos of its food on the menu (or the wall). Please let me qualify my Vietnamese food experience by saying that I have been to the better Que Hong in Dallas a ton, have a friend with a Vietnamese wife who makes an awesome fresh Pho, and have been to the Pho 87's in Houston. To start I ordered the spring rolls ($2) and the grilled pork vermicelli. The gal (probably a husband/cook wife/front team) brought out the shimp rolls ($3) which were average. The grilled pork vermicelli was ok, they probably pre-grilled the pork beforehand as it wasnt very hot. Pretty good seasoning and a decent vermicelli on chopped cucumber and chopped lettuce combo. After I stood at the counter for awhile, noticing they sell a few Vietnamese/asian products, the bill came, ten bucks and 83 cents. I left a buck on the table for tip. Overall, for almost $11 for lunch, I'd say that this is an average place. It's not a greasy burger joint, and a nice change from Tyler's traditional fare. However, for lunch, skip the spring rolls and be thrifty by just getting some Pho, vermicelli, or rice. I don't want to be a d.b. about the place, I would go back, but for the money, even it's a different fare, I would put my lunch dollar towards Basil Thai near the opposite end of the loop. As a big fan of Pho let me first tell you my "Pho Credentials" I live in Long Beach, California which is 10 minutes north of the biggest "Little Saigon" in the U.S. I've had Pho at the best most authentic places in this country, also have had Pho from my ex girlfriend (Vietnamese) mother (who moved here as an adult from Saigon). I was craving Pho so I went here while I'm in town for a week. The flavor was great, some of the best I've ever had. The portion was small, probably smaller than regular size in Los Angeles / Orange County and priced the same as a large back in LA/OC. The bean sprouts were not fresh, they didn't have chili peppers, and they used chopped red onions instead of the traditional green onion. Very little meat was in the soup, and they didnt have tendon or tripe on the menu. Also no size selections. To summarize, the flavor was great and that is the reason for my 3 stars. If you're not used to authentic pho, then you'll be happy here. read more

We were just passing through Tyler on our way to Cali and lucked into this place. My wife and I had never had pho before but my wife being Chinese and I having lived there for a year this reminded us of the tang mian (noodle soup). I realize this is Vietnamese restaurant but this is very similar to the food we loved eating in China. Not Americanized at all. The restaurant is run by a very nice older couple who make delicious food. My wife is an extremely picky eater(especially if its not Chinese food) and she absolutely loved her pork and shrimp pho.
