This place is to die for. The owners are so kind and personable. My fiancee grew up with a Phillipino family so he really enjoyed getting to talk with the owners and share his love of the culture and food. The prices are great, the portions are huge, the flavor is on point, and it's such a refreshing experience to have in Tyler. There are three tables inside the little restaurant for a cozy atmosphere and a few tables in the main hall of the mall,just beside the play area. There is plenty of space around it and convenient trash cans for use. I would say this is a great thing for any parent to be able to eat or have a sweet drink while watching their child play between stores. I highly recommend the Lumpia and the Boba tea if you're easing into the food and don't know if you like it or aren't super adventurous. The Lumpia is very similar to, say, spring rolls in other cultures. If you wanna be adventurous, grab yourself some Kaldereta with white rice. It's a stew like consistency of meat and vegetables with a great spice and mixes so nicely with the rice. A hearty meal! read more

Ok we came here few months ago and I forgot to do my review and this is our 2nd time now so before I forget I'll do it right here ;). Place is nice good for a Filipino restaurant. They got bobba tea and other good drink choices. We ordered palabok, tapsilog (fried beef with fried rice and egg), lumpia (egg roll) and kaldereta (spicy beef stew). All pretty good actually. Kaldereta is spicy as expected, their palabok tastes good, egg roll is perfect in its crunchiness and tapsilog is yummy. Meats are tender and flavored perfectly. We had their sisig before when we first came here. It's not bad although I find it a little greasy. It looks like most of their food are a worthy to try. I guess this is the only Filipino restaurant here in Tyler so you won't regret eating here if you haven't tried any filipino food. There was a show in town featuring Filipino singer Jose Mari Chan and he did a meet and greet here. This restaurant near UT Tyler is the only Filipino restaurant in town. The food was great. Garlic rice had much garlic. the beef tapas were tender. Beef Kalderara was spicy as expected. The Pansit Palabok had more sauce than noodles and could have had more shrimp in it. There was more tofu then shrimp as you can see in the picture. The lumpia were all tasty and crispy. Could have got 5 stars if it was not for the pansit. I live close by so it's my go to place for quick drink fix. The place is clean and ambience is good. They have wide selection of bubble teas, shakes, and other food options. Their chicken/pork lumpias (spring rolls) and skewers with garlic rice are the best in town. The drinks are good. Used to be really good but I suppose due to frequent changes in staff, the taste of drink isn't consistent. Came to Tyler to visit Tyler. Looked up a Bubble Tea place and this popped up. Went to check it out for lunch because my in law recommended their Filipino food. We had Thai tea, almond milk tea, shrimp and tofu noodles, chicken lumpia, chicken and pork bao and chicken skewers. The hoodie dish was something I had never tried before. The sauce was tasty. The lumpia was nice and crispy. The bao was large fluffy and very tasty. It doesn't need the sauce but the sauce is good. The chicken skewers were magical. There is a great smoky flavor and super marinated and tender but chewy. My almond milk tea tasted like almond dessert tofu which I love. The lumpia had too much ratio of carrots but not enough meat. A genuine Filipino lumpia should be loaded with meat especially when you're already paying extra just to add meat to begin with. I'm sure it's not an issue to non-Filipinos who do not know better, but for actual Filipino eaters and customers, it matters that there's NOT enough meat inside the lumpia for an eatery's signature dish. Had the privilege of stopping in this place after a work conference. Customer service is on point. Friendly, chatty and helpful. I have never ordered Filipino food, but many years ago, worked with a gal that would make us lumpia. These ARE NOT egg rolls or spring rolls. Similar, maybe like a cousin, yes, but just trust they are different. Very light, thin and crispy outside - your choice of inside. I ordered the 4 count and then let me choose a variety for stuffing. The taro milk tea was a little grainy, but that's to be expected when using powdered taro root. The game changer for me to frequent this place was cows milk alternatives. Disclaimer: this review is ONLY for the boba drinks. I haven't tried the food yet, but after the drinks, I'm not sure if I'm willing to... I don't often give one-star reviews because I try to find the good in most establishments I try. But man, oh man, I've tried this place TWICE and BOTH times it was awful. The first time, my boyfriend picked up a drink to-go for me so I'm not able to comment on how that went. However, my standard drink is a black milk tea at every boba shop. It's how I judge whether or not a shop is good. I've had a LOT of boba in my life, and this is my scoring system. He knows this - except he came home with a regular black tea. He swears up and down that he ordered me a black milk tea so naturally, we check the receipt. Both the receipt and the label on the drink says "royal milk tea" (which is what they call their black milk tea) so... somewhere along the line, someone made me the wrong drink. That's fine, humans make mistakes. I let it go and tried the drink anyway. Their boba was decent, but the black milk tea tasted like Chik-Fil-A's sweetened iced tea. It was so, so sweet that I could only drink it if I diluted it with water! Needless to say, I didn't finish it. So we try them again, thinking maybe the first time, the employee was new or that it was just a mistake. I ordered the royal milk tea and my boyfriend ordered their special, the durian smoothie. I took one sip of his durian smoothie and actually laughed out loud. There wasn't even a hint of durian in it... so steer clear if you're a fan of durian. I get it though - fresh durian is expensive and probably not as cost effective to have as a menu item if they didn't use a powdered flavoring mix. I would just strongly suggest to use a powder mix that actually tasted it like durian. It wasn't terrible, it was overly sweet but still drinkable, but it just didn't have the correct flavor. So then I try the royal milk tea. Oh my goodness, I thought my teeth were going to rot off. It was WAY WAY WAY too sweet. It was so sweet that I couldn't drink more than two or three sips, and they gave me mini boba instead of the regular boba that I asked for. If I remember correctly, you can't even ask to change the sweetness on the royal milk tea, which is a huge disappointment. It's still sitting in my fridge because I hate the idea of wasting milk tea but I don't know if anyone's teeth can handle that amount of sugar. TLDR; can't comment on the food, but steer clear from the drinks unless you really, really like sugar. read more

Second time in two days. First for lunch and now for dinner. Both occasions the service was slow and I realized why. Definitely worth the 10min. wait. It came in hot and fresh! I ordered the Pancit Bihon and my guests ordered the Siopao and tempura plate. No complaints from either one. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly. If your in a hurry then maybe this is not the place for you. There's a Steak n Shake next door but if you want a greati home cooked Filipino meal at a great price then come here! If you are visiting Tyler, Texas or moved here or even just a local in search of Filipino food - this is the spot. And the only spot. Conveniently located in the Broadway Square shopping mall, this place is pretty great for what it is. Especially in a mall. When you think of mall food, you think of the wide variety of fast foods and fake "Chinese" food (no offense because the Chinese food restaurants in the mall are my guilty pleasure). But this place sells.some authentic Filipino dishes. And they are actually pretty delicious. I got the lecheon kawali which is this crispy deep fried pork and my goodness. Eating it with Mang Tomas sauce and garlic rice? Absolute perfect in my mouth and bringing me back to my roots of my home in the pearl Islands. I'm either a regular here, repeat patron, or would be if it wasn't cost or distance prohibitive 4 stars - Highly recommended, but may have minor things that keep me from being a regular or from giving a higher rating 3 stars - Good most of the time but not great. Will only eat here if I have a particular craving, or am unable to eat at my 4 or 5 star choices 2 stars - Do not really like it but will only eat here if I have to (eating group overruled my veto) 1 star - Avoid. Save your money, time, and stomach Overall - 4.5 stars. Great little Asian restaurant and the lady (owner?) that is there during lunch time is super nice and friendly and the prices for the combos are really inexpensive. I will say though, that the one time I went during dinner time, I wasn't a big fan of the high school kids working there. They were just busy chatting and didn't notice my food sitting in the pickup window. I was just watching and waiting to see if anyone would notice, but they didn't until another person's order was ready. But don't let that deter you. Overall, the service is not "slow" like many others before me commented. It isn't McDonald's, and having worked in a Chinese restaurant all my life, I thought the wait times were respectable. During lunch I only have to wait a few minutes, and maybe 10 minutes max on the items that are not fully cooked until time of order. It's great that there is a different, ethnic restaurant in Tyler! This quaint little restaurant is located near UT Tyler and serves take out (or can dine in) Filipino food and Boba/Bubble Tea, a Taiwanese beverage typically found in larger cities. Boba - I'm not a boba connoisseur, but I think its not bad (my absolute favorite is the Tea Station chain in California). Royal milk tea was good. Not overly sweet, good tea flavor, and the honey boba/tapioca pearl is just the way I like it, which is very soft. Some places make their boba on the firmer/chewier side, but I like mine soft enough to squish apart with your tongue. My coworkers had the thai and mango drinks, and the coworker with mango said it was "magical." Adobo - Typical Filipino fare. Probably the most commonly known Filipino food, which is made by cooking pork (or chicken) in soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaves, pepper corns, and garlic. I would rank this dish a 4, because I think my adobo is the best haha. But theirs is pretty good and is my go to dish. Very cheap as well, and you get two loompias and rice. I usually opt for the "fried rice" which is not Chinese fried rice, but rather rice cooked in garlic oil I believe, which is pretty tasty and goes well with the meat. Siopao - This is a steamed but very similar to the Chinese char-siu bao. The buns are steamed, hence the white color. Fluffy with some sweetness. The filling is salty and sweet in a brown gravy. The pork and chicken are similar in taste, but I typically get the chicken. I like them because they are good and remind me of home. Pansit - Probably the second most common Filipino dish in America. Noodle dish made with mung bean vermicelli (from what it looked like, a coworker ate it, so I didn't get to taste). A coworker has gotten this twice and said it was "decent/not bad." Lumpia - Fried spring rolls. I think everytime I have eaten this from a Filipino, it has been a little different. So I'm honestly not sure which one is the "traditional" one. Or maybe its a dish that just differs from family to family. At any rate, theirs are good. They come in beef, pork, or vegetable. If I remember correctly, the meat ones have some vegetables in there as well. Some people make their meat lumpias with all meat and no vegetables. Many of the combos come with two of them, and you can mix/match if you want to try different ones out. Lechon kawali - Tried this dish out just to try it. It is basically deep fried pork belly. The flavor itself was fine, but I felt it was too hard for me. Others may like it though. It is similar to Mexican chicharron (deep fried pork belly or pork rinds). So if you like the pork belly chicharron (not the pork rind version) you will probably like the lechon kawali. Banh mi - Their version is not like the traditional Vietnamese version. But it is still tasty. Foot long baguette, with a pork pate, piece of fried tofu, choice of chicken/pork/more tofu, cilantro, cucumber, carrot, onion, jalapeno, mayo, and sriracha. The pork had good flavor and it was good enough to just eat on its own with rice. However, it is cut in cubes, instead of sliced like in the traditional banh mi, so it tends to fall out of the bun. The sriracha is a nice addition and gives it a little tang and spice. I would recommend that the cucumber/carrot be pickled though. The sweet and sour of the pickling would really kick the flavor up a notch. I would also recommend using a little less mayo (I may just request it with less mayo on my next order). read more

Preface to say, I am not from the Philippines and therefore cannot say with confidence whether the food is authentic or not. I can only provide my take on things. The lumpia snack, or really egg rolls, comes with a variety of filling options, pork, chicken, and veggies for $2.29 for 2. Theses are done right. I love myself a thin crispy egg roll, and these fit the ticket. The perfect filing to shell ratio I'd say, which is even better appreciated when egg rolls are burrito size which these are not. The Fresh Lumpia is very mushy. It is what I would describe a mechanically altered diet to be without actually mechanically altering the food. The two crepe rolls are doused with a sweet peanut sauce which literally seeped out of the togo styrofoam container. The veggies are quite sautéed and are therefore also very soft. Choice of protein is again given. There is literally no contrasting texture to this dish. The flavor of the contents are hard to discern above the sauce given its robustness. Their Halo Halo is quite delicious. It is a combination of worlds, the young hipster and the old asian man. The dessert has a creamy ice-cream slush base with a variety of beans and jello pieces intermixed. There is a scoop of ice cream floating around as well, slowly melting while you devour the concoction. Their milk teas are average quality. Boba is cooked appropriately. I would not recommend their durian smoothie as it's certainly not durian and seemingly tastes more like mango tbh. I thought the first time was a fluke, but it proves to be the case. All in all, not a bad place. Definitely recommend for the drink and dessert options and for all the egg roll lovers. read more

Every time I've been inside, they weren't that busy, but a lot of kids come. So if you plan on studying, bring headphones because sounds echo. Overall, not a bad place but not that great. Unfortunately, this is the only bubble tea place I could find in Tyler. Of course whenever I go to a new city, I always first look up bubble tea places. I got to try both the taro milk tea and the strawberry milk tea. Both of the milk teas came lukewarm. Normally, I feel like places add too much ice, but this place does not have enough ice in the drink. The taro milk tea was horrible. It seemed to be made of powder as there was a grainy texture as I was drinking from it. The strawberry milk tea was slightly better but it was more like strawberry milk than a strawberry milk TEA. Both of the drinks were extremely sweet at normal sweetness. As for the boba, it was extremely inconsistent. Some were undercooked, and some were extremely undercooked. None of the boba were cooked perfectly. They also did not have any honey taste or sweetness to it. Not worth coming here. Maybe for their smoothies, without boba, but you can get that anywhere. I had heard this place was great, and upon finally visiting, it even exceeded my expectations. I decided to order Lumpia Rolls and Lechon Kawali with a boba milk tea, while My sister ordered Pork Skewers and the taro boba tea. After our first bites, we both literally said "wow". We both loved the kawali, the fatty insides were soft and chewy with a crunchy crisp outside she'll, and the dipping sauce it came with was really nice. The rice was perfect and I still don't understand how it managed to be that good. The lumpia rolls were great too but they just didn't compete to the rest of the food in my opinion.
