Ordered the Singapore Noodles with CHICKEN and specifically said NO SHRIMP. It came out ALL SHRIMP. My wife got the three meats: chicken, beef and shrimp. I sent the shrimp one back, and it came back all chicken. But how the heck was this chicken prepared? And the beef and chicken on my wife's plate as well. It seemed obvious that these meats had been BOILED. I researched Singapore Noodles to find out whether the beef and chicken was supposed to be boiled, and it's not. It's supposed to be fried in a pan. The look and texture of these meats was just gross. Slimy, actually. I ate the noodles as best as I could but quickly tired of that as I picked around the slimy chicken. Doubt we'll give this place another try. Sad. read more

So the first thing I'm going to say is, I didn't even know this place existed. I was driving down Old Jacksonville Highway on my way to Fresh and trying to be a little bit more smart than usual, didn't want to go shopping on an empty stomach. I have enough things in my kitchen that I'm never going to eat as it is. That said, I saw the crude lunch special sign again and this time decided it was worth making a right turn to find out what was there. I got to park right in front and hopped out of my truck just as someone was coming out of Liang's. The first thing that met me was an incredible smell coming from inside. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be a Chinese place and thought the sign was more gonna be a taco stand, but the smell made me happy it wasn't. I also dug the Chinese Lions out front. When I got in I saw one of those drink robots up front and I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of those things, but whatever. I got sat down to my table and saw they had a bar in the back. I asked if it was full stock but apparently they just have beer and wine. No worries, I didn't need to go grocery shopping with a buzz. As I walked by other people's tables, I saw orange chicken, some shrimp dish, and the exact thing I was going to be ordering: Mongolian beef. Now, here is the thing. Mongolian beef seems to be on just about every strip mall Chinese restaurant I have ever been to, and in all honesty, I've ignored it as most places end up giving you a plate of sautéed onions with a couple of pieces of meat that "might" be beef. But as I walked by this cute old couple who were obviously sharing their plate, I was a bit wide eyed at how much actual beef there was. I think the wife may have shot me a look, but hey t meh, it is what it is. So I sat down and decided I was gonna start with the bobo platter which I rightfully assumed was a mix of different appetizers. However, before I could order, I was brought a plate of fried wontons and sweet and sour sauce. I told my server I didn't order it but they told me it was something they give for everyone. I'm sorry. I've never been given anything free from any Chinese restaurant, much less the Asian equivalent of chips and salsa. Not only that, but there is something different about the sauce, not sure what it was, but I liked it. My appetizer had two different kinds of rolls, egg and spring, battered chicken, crab Rangoons two chicken sticks, and fried gyoza. I asked for Chinese hot mustard and chili paste and despite being busy, I had it in just a couple of minutes. They also give you some of that sweet and sour sauce and dumpling sauce that I enjoyed enough to pour all over my rice. The chicken is why I'm not giving this place 5 stars. It was so overly fried, that I almost didn't finish it. Now, before I could finish this thing that was definitely more fit for two hungry people, out came my dish. An interwoven basket of onions with at least as much beef in it as well. It smelled good, and was obviously just made to order rather than sitting around like a Chinese buffet. I liked it. I didn't immediately love it and was honest with my server about the fact that it wasn't as spicy as I'm used to. He suggested me pouring in my chili oil and he was right, it was so much better. He told me next time I could also order sautéed mushrooms and vegetables in it and I was like "how about if you can get me some of those mushrooms right now?" Before I could get back from the restroom, they were there on the table and I added them in to my beef. SERIOUSLY??? HOW IS THIS NOT ON THE MENU??? It was sooo much better. The combination of the chili oil, the mushrooms, and the Mongolian beef itself was like a whole new experience. Next time I'll try adding some zucchini to it as well. I'll be back and try to give the chicken another chance. But honestly, this place is worth becoming a regular part of my weekly shopping. read more

I guess I expected there to be some broccoli or other veggies mixed in chicken on plate. Only cheap celery and carrots. Also, the rice isn't like any other fried rice I've ever had. It is bland, not much taste even with soy sauce. Appears to be steamed, not fried. I am only eating the bits of chicken, which is also bland. For the price it's a bit disappointing. One star because you can't give zero. Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Not just tasteless but bone dry even when I covered it with soy sauce to wash it down, and washing was needed. This is not a Chinese buffet. It's also not fast food Chinese takeout. This is a sit at the table and order from a menu Chinese restaurant with the freshest and most delicious food. Imagine General chicken made from fresh sizable pieces of white meat chicken in a delicious sauce that looks and tastes like chicken and not some slimy dough ball that has been sitting on a steam tray for a few hours. It's just really good. Now you will have to pay extra for the best egg drop soup and fresh made crab rangoons as they are not included. But they are so worth it. Liang's is back in their NEW LOCATION: 9278 old Jacksonville Hwy. in Tyler, TX. Food seems even better than before, but the old favorites are still there. Their dishes are not "steam table" food but freshly prepared. The egg rolls have such a light, crispy crust. The soups are full of flavor. Wonderfully affordable lunch menu where entrée comes complete with egg roll or spring roll, soup, and choice of rice for under $10. Venue is open, airy, and sparkling clean. Husband and I decided to venture out for a late lunch yesterday. Liangs sounded good. Employees very nice. I ordered soup which came with fried wonton strips which was good. However I was disappointed in my veggie lo mein . Hardly any veggies in it and no flavor. Hubby said his sweet and sour chicken was not good. Just fried chicken pieces with red sauce poured over it. It was like it just came out of a freezer bag from Sams club. We both agreed not to return. Mings has my vote for great Chinese food! read more

The WORST Chinese food I've had thus far. And I've lived in at least 5 different states. The portions are LAUGHABLE. We ordered from Liangs through Uber and were shocked! This place should be embarrassed to be in business! Ordered the wonton soup. Wonton soup usually has veggies and chicken, beef and shrimp inside. This was just broth with a few wontons that tasted like tap water. You can tell all that was use to flavor it was powdered spices. BIG FAIL. Even more insulting was the size the rice package came in. It was the size of a small Happy Meal French fry. Sushi looked old. Most of the food looked like it is frozen food warmed up in the microwave. my husband and I love the food here and drive an hour each way so we can enjoy the best Chinese food we have found in far East Texas. Up until today, the service has been excellent. Today it was horrible. Our server started out by ignoring us and waiting on people who came in after we did. The drinks took a while and so did the 1st part of the lunch plate. after that we watched others get their meals while we still waited. When the server finally brought one of our meals, she had the wrong meal. She finally brought my husband's meal, which was lukewarm. It took almost an hour before I finally received my correct meal. Such a shame to have one of our favorite places ruined by inexcusably slow service. The food was still delicious. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant several times and noticed the last time the food was failing in quality & flavor....So saddened by the quality of our food delivered on Sunday 11/17...Placed an order for 1) General Tso's and 1) Sweet & Sour....The food was not delivered ready-to-eat temperature..more on the 'cool' temp side...The chicken in both meals was extremely hard and extremely dried out. not able to eat it...It was more like the chicken had been overcooked, frozen and thawed out...Had we eaten in-house I could and would have returned the food to them and got a refund! Had to throw our food out!...The only thing good was our egg drop & Won Ton soups and our 2 egg rolls....But for $50+ dollars this is UNACCEPTABLE....Don't know who was on 'cook duty' but it will not be our 'order-on-line' place ever again. read more

These Covid days we can only order for pick up but the inside looking from the outside looks really nice. So we phoned our order, sushi, dumpling, mushrooms and peas more sushi and pu pu plates. Super nice in the phone. Went to pick it up as they put it right out the front door. Got back to our caves and.... Holy Wow!! Super delicious! Portions were on point! Fed a mob of us. Unfortunately this restaurant fell extremely short of my very basic expectations. I ordered the wonton soup and wanted a basic fried rice (that's my usual go to when I go to new restaurants), but thought Id add scallops to the rice as well. I asked what was in the rice because I don't like all that extra in it (just give me eggs, green and white onions, and bean sprouts) and after I was told, I requested them to omit the peas and carrots. Cool. Time went by and I thought maybe they'd bring my soup, but that never happened and my food came.....my eyes looked horrified when my rice arrived and I asked, 'What's that green stuff?', the server replied 'LETTUCE'! Excuse me !? It was the worst. The scallops had a funny taste to them so I spit that out and only ate the shrimp... and nothing else. She finally explained she forgot the soup but at this point it was all good cause I was ready to go. Im glad I wasn't starving cause I would've been upset, especially after charging 15.00 for that rice! The restaurant was nice and clean but Its a no for me. read more

We've been here before at the old, and now new, location. Our first visit at the Old Jacksonville spot wasn't very good. Food was cold, and it took forever to get anything served. Tonight was a different experience. Soup was served promptly and was hot. Sesame chicken was delicious. Tender yet crispy edges. Cooked perfectly. Shredded beef with vegetables was really really good! There were very few customers, so hopefully if we go back on a busy night the food and service will match what we had this evening. read more

This is the best Chinese restaurant you are going to find in Tyler in my experience. The food is always good and hot. They are very fast and friendly. The restaurant is always clean with faint music playing in the background. I don't know why, but they are never crowded, so there's not a lot of noise. (I can not speak to the weekends. We've only eaten here during the week.) we've never had a bad experience here! Also they are reasonably priced considering the portions are normally large. read more

I've tasted Chinese food from Shanghai to San Francisco to Los Angeles to Houston and other metropolitan areas of Texas. I normally do not walk into Americanized Chinese restaurants, but I moved here a year ago and there're really not much Chinese food (Asian food in general) around here. Last night, we tried it. It was all right, maybe a slight notch better than I had expected. The restaurant was large and clean. The staff are nice but they were overwhelmingly swamped. I gave it a 3 star because my noodle was at least palatable, the meats were tender, the noodles cooked well, and it wasn't over salted. It was a little on the bland side but I rather it is bland than over salted with heavy soy sauce. read more

The Szechuan beef was nothing but shredded carrots the rice was tasteless and bland. The hot and sour soup had no vegetables or tofu and broth was like dirty dish water! Spent over 50$. Portions are large and I can make two meals out of anything I order. Service here is always great and it is super clean. We love Liang's! In fact, when they were located on the Loop we dined there now and then and enjoyed it very much. They always provided delicious food with generous portions and low prices. Now they are located on Old Jacksonville Road in a very pleasantly decorated building so we tried them for lunch today. We were given only the lunch menu from which to choose our entrees so we chose chicken broccoli and shrimp broccoli meals. Each came with a choice or soups, eggroll or spring roll, and rice. The meals were both tasty but the size of the portions has changed, much less food than they previously served at their other location. The soups were good but mine was served lukewarm. We were given fried eggrolls instead of the spring rolls we had chosen. It was an okay meal but a bit disappointing. We hope they return to their former greatness in this present building. I want to see them succeed and thrive and continue to be a presence in Tyler for many years to come. read more

I really really wanted to like the food in the new location for Liang's Chinese restaurant in Tyler Texas. The location is so much better than the corporate like location they used to have. However, this was not the case. The food here is mediocre at best, and the prices are way too high for the quality of the food. We spent over 70$ with soup, two entrees, a pot of tea and a vegetable dish not on the menu. The vegetable dish was supposed to be Chinese greens, but was in fact a type of tough Yu Choy cooked in a wok with whole garlic and very little seasoning. This place needs a good Chinese chef to save it from mediocre death. We will not be returning unless something changes. We ordered: Orange chicken, Salted shrimp and the greens. My partner had the wonton soup which was over salted. I had the sweet and sour soup. This soup tasted somewhat like the delicious versions I have had in great restaurants, but this version was very bland, not hot, and not sour, and served lukewarm. The orange chicken was not crisp, the chicken old tasting, and the salted shrimp nothing like the good version. It had an over worked batter that seemed to mask the taste of the shrimp. And it was served with old tasting fried rice, and nothing else. The greens were the most disappointing of all. Remembering the pea greens we used t get in Sand Diego at the amazing Asian places there, I was expecting at least that type of green as the basis for the dish. And by the way, there were NO vegetable dishes even listed on the menu! I don't ever think I have been to a Chinese restaurant that had NO vegetable dished on the menu. We had to ask if they had vegetable dishes, and we were assured they did. This was obviously a novel request because at least three employees came by our table to marvel that we ordered it, and to ask us how it was. Again, mediocre. Tough Yu Choy cooked in while garlic and nothing else that I could taste. East Texas is still the land of three major food groups: meat, fried food. and more meat. I really really wanted to enjoy this new location, and my mouth was watering for delicious Chinese food, but oh well, chalk this up to another mediocre dining experience in Tyler Texas. This place really needs a food re haul. If anyone out here is looking for a new business, Tyler Texas needs good, healthy, fabulous restaurants. read more
